181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BCC Future! on: August 26, 2017, 08:17:49 AM
BCH is garbage.  The only people buying it up are Bitmain so they can artificially inflate the profitability of mining it.  Anyone watching the buys on Bittrex can watch someone with a giant pile of BTC shovel it directly onto the BCH dumpster fire.  No reasonable shopper would do that.

I think what they haven't planned out yet is that when profitability on BCH rises, miners move over to it, which was of course the plan.  But then that causes the diff on BCH to skyrocket, so next time it refactors, profits drop off a cliff with BCH and rise up more on BTC.  And the miners move right back to BTC.

The only way to sustain this is to keep dumping money on it, and eventually they'll cut their losses and that'll be the end of that.

My suggestion:  Wait for Wu or Ver or whoever it is propping this nonsense up with their savings to pump up BCH again, liquidate and avoid.
182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / When will the next GEO pump start? on: August 26, 2017, 08:09:29 AM
Looks like any time now, to me.

The hype artists have pumped, the whales have dumped, the bag holders have gotten impatient and sold, and the whales bought it right back.

The cycle will begin again soon.
183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / [MCO] Pumping up - Up 10% in the last hour. on: August 26, 2017, 05:46:45 AM
Looks like speculation of the news dropping on 8/31 is building up hype

Finally!

184  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BLOCK PARTY] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool on: August 26, 2017, 04:30:48 AM
You should know by now I never give optimistic information because I prefer to pessimise and if things are better people are happier (maybe I should give completely unrealistic promises and then more people will join??) The ramp up is an exponential process though in SPLNS so you'll get close to your optimal reward much sooner than the 9 months.

That's cool, I appreciate the un-embellished truth.  And it's not a big deal really, I'm just trying to understand the payout process better because I keep thinking about a profit calculator, I think that would help a bit with people that haven't tried it yet.

Also, until pool hash rate steps up a lot, the profits should actually look pretty good, so there's that...  Might help bring in new people 'feeling lucky'.
185  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BLOCK PARTY] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool on: August 26, 2017, 04:22:46 AM
110TH will cover 5 of the current network diffs in about 6 years... Oh look, it's >700TH again, so divided by 7 and it's about 9 months.

So I don't hit 100% payout rate for 6 years <-> 9 months?  Ouch.

Thanks for the info.  I'm going to cook up a little ckpool sticker people could add to their avatar image if they want, maybe that'll help a little.

C'mon Butters!  Shake it!
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin is falling. Who knows why? on: August 26, 2017, 03:52:09 AM
Bitcoin is very high right now. You can't expect altcoin market will get recovered so fast because most of the volumes of traders are on bitcoin right. There's a rumor also Bitcoin will pump again soon and will break the $5000 margin. So, owning altcoin right now is pretty dangerous. Just put only small amount to avoid huge loss. Short trade is good though. If you can't help yourself from trading. Short trade is good but more risky.

Altcoin market is sleeping for a long time. But i believe the market will recover as soon as Bitcoin dumps hard. But not now. Just hold if you think you loss huge on your bought altcoins. It will recover. Just be patient.

That's a shame, I was wondering if the market worked like that but that's what I'm seeing and what a lot of people are saying...  Too bad, because if it comes down to BTC vs shitcoins, BTC is going to beat them like a mule.

So altcoins are a bad long term investment, it would seem.  Sometimes they spike but generally appreciation of BTC, which is inevitable like the rising of the sun, will constantly drive their values down, like inflation?
187  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BLOCK PARTY] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool on: August 26, 2017, 03:44:15 AM
Payout goes up and down with current block reward. If you saw it when there were a lot of high fee transactions it will have been a lot higher. Your payout will ramp up to be proportional to your commitment to the pool over 5 network diffs' worth so if you've been mining with us since day zero at the moment and been 3% you'll be 3% of the payout. With SPLNS you ramp up faster than PPLNS but it still takes some time.

Oh ok, thanks for clearing that up.

How long is 5 network diffs' worth?  Currently at 110T
188  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BLOCK PARTY] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool on: August 26, 2017, 03:07:57 AM
Question:

I was watching my payout and I noticed that an hour ago it was higher than it is now.  I've been connected steadily since the first block was solved.

Is that normal?  It went down from 215k sat to 199k.

So far the numbers it's showing me seem a little under the PPS rates I've been getting elsewhere, but I was hoping maybe if I leave it going a while it'll improve.  Right now I'm about 3% of the total pool hashrate, I thought the way the payouts worked is if it happened to magically get solved right now, I'd get basically 3% of the block reward.  No?   Now it seems like I misunderstood.

Here's my payout address, if that helps 1DFdEQfrScwmnaC1oYnqvwri6esN89dNCB
189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XLM] is having a good day on: August 25, 2017, 11:54:05 PM
I have been looking at XLM over the past couple of days and been thinking about pulling the trigger on it. I like the mission seems like a legit coin and something I might purchase here on the future.

I bet that if you wait a few minutes it'll drop down a few sat, it's a little over the exponential average right now (not much though).

Either way I think it's going to keep climbing for a while and steadily over time, so it probably doesn't matter that much.
190  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin is falling. Who knows why? on: August 25, 2017, 11:08:26 PM
XLM and SC are having a pretty decent day.  Not great but... not terrible.
191  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BLOCK PARTY] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool on: August 25, 2017, 10:53:46 PM
You could always try stuffing Butters in a dress and making him dance around to bring in new miners.

I'm pretty sure that will work, that's Marketing 101 right there.
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FREE TOKENS---coins giving free tokens on: August 25, 2017, 10:28:24 PM
XLM will give you some Lumens if you ask them for it.  Seems pretty nice to me, that's not a short term offer either, basically that's how they're going to keep doing it until all the lumens are in circulation over the next ten years.
193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / [XLM] is having a good day on: August 25, 2017, 10:24:05 PM
Maybe it's getting ready to make a move?

It's one of my long term holds so I won't be selling even if it does.  But anyone else have any thoughts on this one?

I think they have a nice plan charted way out into the future and can demonstrate a functional product right now.  Also they seem very socially conscious, they'll just give you some XLM if you ask for it.
194  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BLOCK PARTY] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool on: August 25, 2017, 10:18:53 PM
That's what I'm hoping on. That would be a nice reward for those that have been consistently mining here since it would greatly boost rewards for them.

Still would like to see a lot more hashrate and/or miners get on board, I mean the fee is zero so long term profits here should be better than any pool provided we can get a consistent hashrate... but even that doesn't seem to attract anyone. I guess people feel the fancy interfaces are worth their 0.5~10% fees they're paying elsewhere.

In marketing, a pivotal concept is 'the time crunch'.  Take action now, or lose the opportunity.

Maybe something like that could benefit ckpool.  Sign up now, and the fee is 0%.  Wait until later, and it's some amount higher than 0%.   Etc.  Or maybe an early adopter bonus from subsequent blocks, something like that.
195  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BLOCK PARTY] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool on: August 25, 2017, 10:11:51 PM
Block Party?! Who got the next one then?
We're just still partying from the first block...  Smiley

I've been spoilt by the one that we got and now greedily want another but I know it'll realistically be months before we see another Undecided

To celebrate, I'm thinking about changing my sigline.  Kano still hasn't fixed the problem, and he probably never will, and the big miners in Kano's pool will continue to benefit from robbing the little miners, but if the participants are happy with that arrangement frankly I've run out of concern over the matter.  I don't know how anyone involved sleeps at night but I guess $71k buys a pretty comfortable mattress.

I'm pretty sure by now everyone knows how I feel about it anyways.

Kudos to you ck for making sure I got my $1.14 - I think it's that attention to detail that will make ckpool a success in the long run.
196  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BLOCK PARTY] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool on: August 25, 2017, 09:40:57 PM
ck, how would a profit calculator work?

User supplies their TH, script gets current diff from some source (hopefully local), magic happens, then it anticipates daily return.

Can you block out the formula for me and I can make a javascript/php version?

BTW what do you think about putting the 'About SPLNS' and 'Features' on separate pages, so the home page is basically current network stats, setup info, and if it detects the user has a 'my id' cookie set, hides the setup info and shows the user's current HERP/DERP/Expected return etc.
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: August 25, 2017, 09:20:28 PM
I feel we've got lots to show currently for GEO  Smiley

Here's our 3 most recent demo videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCVXaNvSfw4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEIgzu_iTL8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNs6N0EdD8Y

I've also updated our landing page on http://geocoin.cash to give a sneak peak of the new MapBox interface, HTTPS will also be added shortly for the logins.
We're also currently working on redoing our promotional website http://geo.money.

As we announced in our roadmap, our first focus will be migrating the UBQ blockchain, and then we will have more time to focus on our cool GEO items like the MapBox interface launch, mobile apps and added features.  This is an ongoing project and we will continue to develop this project and community into the future.

I think HTTPS should be a top priority right now.  It's easier than other items on the todo list and offers a lot of return on that effort.  New users will build the brand for you.  Unencrypted access to crypto-coins just sounds... wrong.

You could give yourself a major partner and a huge new userbase by developing Unity support.   And it's not like you'd have to cultivate a relationship with the Unity team to do it.   It would offer a lot of visual/audio options HTML5 can not compete with.  Ingress with coins at stake could be huge, but that'll never happen in HTML5, the client can't be secured properly, and WebGL is garbage next to native code versions of the same.

Good luck!  I feel bad for sounding so negative now... I know as well as anyone that development is easy... from the sidelines.  But the details are tough so I'll try to be patient.

I can help with the demo vids if you want but you'd have to scatter some Geo around columbus ohio for me to do it.
198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What a bloodbath... on: August 25, 2017, 08:38:29 PM
Well that did not take long. BTC took its weekend dump and now most of the alts are back to where they were a little while ago. At least mine are. This whole alts to BTC correlation is so weird because they never sync up correctly..

Yeah I'm seeing that too.

I keep thinking about robo-traders lately.   Like 'gunbot' etc.  I wonder if someone could make one that just keeps moving capital around from BTC<->Alts based on BTC movements to make some auto-profits.
199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 25, 2017, 07:51:02 PM
So far Dash value is not going up with Dash diff.  There was a bit of a spike earlier this week but the two are not moving in sync.

I keep trying to tell people but too many don't listen.

 Hashrate/Diff DOES NOT DICTATE PRICE.

Hashrate/Diff FOLLOWS price as folks see something get more profitable and move to it (when they can).

I disagree, we're about to see a 5x minimum increase in diff, probably more like 10x-20x... price hasn't made nearly that movement so why would so many new miners be jumping on the Dash ship if what you're saying is true?
200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Koreans Coming in Hot this weekend on: August 25, 2017, 07:47:05 PM
I agree about Civic, that one looks good to me.

CFI is also doing well, looks like it'll push the 6000 wall it keeps banging against here shortly.

I like BAT too, but I think that ones a long term hold.
