I will be at the I2P table at 30C3 for the next three days, if you're here and got questions you know where to find me

I forgot to mention the style feature! You can also style your client with CSS. Put a CSS file inside your anoncoin config dir, like default.css, and then add style=default.css to load the stylesheet! Link to CSS reference is here: http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-4.8/stylesheet.html

Hehe but I got helped by K1773R and others anyway AHTF7G49ktEeo5Nh7t1EYupLDv7WZdTW6A thank you much appreciated Still, you're the person who is willing to write a guide about it, that's a job itself, and we really need documentation! It would be awsome if you could post it on the offical forum as well. https://forum.anoncoin.net

I agree there is big problem with anc.usr.io : it is more than two weeks I try to cash out >50 ANC I mined there without any luck ! IMHO this pool is operated by a thief and people shall be told to mine there anymore... Also if you look around there are many people reporting problem with this particular pool. Meeh, maybe it would be wise to remove the link to this pool from anoncoin.net to not have more people scammed by this pool. BTW Good work for new ANC client and good to have coincontrol back I will get our PR manager to get in contact with them, and solve the issue or remove them

Finally, Anoncoin 0.8.5.6 is released! The new client will warn people using clearnet connections. Clearnet is internet, unencrypted without the usage of I2P or Tor. For pool operators which should run their wallet on clearnet can disable this with the stfu=1 flag. People that don't have a anoncoin.conf file will get it written by a Wizard while starting Anoncoin. The Wizard will ask if you run I2P or Tor, if you run one or both, it can autoconfigure the client to use I2P, Tor or both. New features/changes: * Leveldb * More return params in RPC getinfo * Tracking of moneysupply in blockchain * Coin Control * Darknet setup Wizard * Lower fees, minimum fee are now 0.002 ANC Windows and OSX binaries are released here: https://anoncoin.net/downloads/0.8.5.6/

it is not clear what to expect wait a long time? ~/anoncoin/src$ anoncoind
Warning: Anoncoin is running on clearnet!

I'm unsure what you want. You have started the daemon, which runs in background. If you're looking for a GUI, please look at the guide above (Anoncoin-QT section)

Cool, am hoping to do an initial run in a month or so - my main issue is how do I go about creating a paper wallet for ANC? I'm not as technically minded as some unfortunately We're having a site with support for this, I will try make it finished soon! What I did was only printing privatekeys with coins sent to the addresses on a paper.

I fancy some physical Anoncoins, anyone else like the idea of this? May produce a few myself....
I'm currently giving away "value-papers" this Christmas, some few ANC on some privatekeys printed on papers to family So yea, like the idea hehe.

I wonder how does AnonCoin comparein terms of total anonymity to other coins. For instance, sexcoin claims to be "anonymous" too. Is AnonCoin truely THE most anonymous coin among the cryptocurrencies?
Also, how does AnonCoin compare to projects like ZeroCoin and DarkWallet? Is there any other anonymous project int he pipelines? Which one of these is likely to hold the future of anonymous cryptocurrency transactions? (I'm not too techie. I just need advice - please be objective in your analysis).
Thank you
great questions! what do we think about this... "But Zerocoin can be used however we, as a democracy, decide it should be used. Once the technology exists, we as citizens can have a discussion about what degree of privacy is appropriate. For example, we might decide that transactions should be hidden from your neighbors — as they already are in traditional payment systems — but that the government should have access upon obtaining a valid warrant. If we make this decision, Zerocoin can easily be configured to accommodate that access." http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/readersrespond/bs-ed-bitcoin-letter-20131204,0,3966705.story#ixzz2n7mdtstWZerocoin is an implementation we're working on, and we will not go with any government backdoor which is mentioned on the zerocoin pages. Darkwallet is a JOKE wrt security. Letting a browser plugin handle your wallet seems like a really good idea. However, what darkwallet claims to do is coinmixing and colored coin. Well, first off, Bitcoin has patched itself in a way that makes colored coins as it today impossible afaik, resulting in this only work on coins with a client base bellow 0.8.2 or 0.8.5 IIRC. Next up is coinmixing. This is nothing special with any coins whatsoever. You can do it with all coins, you just need the right tools or implementation. Other questions can be answered if you read the first page @ https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=309716.0, it's described there what Anoncoin has today that other coins not have (official I2P support), and what you can expect in the future.

Seems BS for the little I've seen.. Saw nothing special in the code that could do it, which means they mix it in a sentralized server and you then have to trust them on it, which is ... bad IMO. (I like decentralization, and no-trust ideas). But I'm gonna take a closer look and report back if I was misstaken

these problems happens if you mix db4.8 (or lower) wallets with db5 (or higher)
Thanks. That clears things up. I remember upgrading to db5 around that time. If I can't fix it, I'll get your help on IRC. With pywallet you probably need to edit the address prefix to get the right output. In the pywallet script around line 72 you should find; Please change that to: To display anoncoin private keys and addresses right. (This will remove the compatibility with bitcoin, so you need to set it back to 0 afterwards to get it to work with bitcoin again)

What are the transaction fees on this coin?
If I send one ANC, do I get charged 0.1 tx fee?
Same as litecoin (0.01). However you can configure this in both the GUI and with parameters with coind. Btw, how's the Zerocoin implementation going?
Awaiting whitepapers version 2, where the size of proof is shrinked. Meanwhile we're working on ideas to remove the trust issue from zerocoin, and some "extensions" to it.

I am using client: v0.6.1-1999-g313123c-dirty-beta Is this version fine or would you recommend another? Thanks.
Check the protocol version in RPC. 70007 is the right one. And to say it like this, if you still recieve blocks you're probably on the right version We're working on a new release, hoping it's finished to the weekend.

For some reason I decided to trust Anoncoin...I have for a couple of weeks access to some office equipment and I manage to get 900kh/s, I'm mining only Anoncoin....is it going to be good choice? Looks to me more appealing than StableCoin that was my other idea (and someone suggested as well)...I can see difficulty is increasing a lot, as well as value though...convince me that I'm doing the right choice! The convincing is on the first page. If you like the features on the coin you can use it, if not I suggest you don't. If you're just a miner trying to get more bitcoins, I suggest looking on the coinchoose page where you see which is most profitt in, or join one of those multipool things

Go ANC Go!! How often does it adjust difficulty to net hash rate?
Anoncoin changes difficulty per block based on the 120 blocks back from current Today; 1 ANC = 4.64 $ http://coinmarketcap.com/
