This looks like a lobbying / mouthpiece organisation put in place by ... follow the money.
182  Other / Politics & Society / Re: MORE Than Half The Current U.S. Senators skipped NSA Breifing amidst scandal... on: June 18, 2013, 05:11:06 PM
lets make a list of why they didn't attend

-they don't care
-they support spying
-they want plausible deniability
-they had something better to do
- ?

any more you can think of?
Add: They were at the NSA monitoring the NSA's real-time data showing which of their constituents were monitoring the briefing.
Add: Puppet master told them not to attend.

Why not disconnect the transmit wires at the switch/router end?  If the attacker has access to the switch as well as the computer network card then your whole strategy is of no use since they could just replace the entire cable with one of their own.

There are 10 kinds of people: Those that understand binary and those that don't.
185  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 1 BTC sold for 9832 US Dollars (!) on ebay on: June 17, 2013, 06:56:17 PM
Is this the same bitcoin with an image of Buddha and Jesus that Abraham Lincoln was paid for chopping wood back in the day?  Personally, I wouldn't have paid more than $7k for it.
186  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Speeding Tickets on: June 17, 2013, 04:35:35 PM
which in the US is illegal. there needs to be an actual witness not technology to testify against you

you must face your acuser, see 'due process' or 'habeus corpus'
Wait, so you're saying if I put up cameras around my house to find out who's always smashing my windows when I'm away, and then I catch the guy on video, I don't have a case because there are no actual witnesses? I'm pretty sure that's not how it works. Wouldn't I be the witness, since they're my cameras? How is this any different?

maybe I mean it's the easy way to fight an infraction because someone has to come testify against you, and a camera is not likely to show up. whereas you're not imaging and recoding and trying to convict dozens of people for smashing your windows
I think it's more the case that speeding tickets are given to drivers and not to cars.  As the owner of the car you can claim that you weren't driving the car at the time the photo was taken.  It used to be that way for red lights too.  I guess states that use the red light cameras changed their laws to accommodate the easy income.  I think that if you get a ran-the-red-light-photo ticket it does not impact your drivers license standing, whereas if you are pulled over multiple times for speeding you can lose your license.

I think the idea of PedoCoin is pretty cool, it sure is better than ButtCoin.
I heard you can exchange either of these using nipple.
188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2013-06-13 Latest from FinCEN on: June 13, 2013, 09:40:57 PM
In my eyes very negative as it still throws around "virtual currency administrators" without clarifying who they mean. Do they mean miners? Just the pools? None? Bitcoin-Qt devs? Any devs working on any Bitcoin software? Any user selling bitcoins for fiat??

Until they clearly say they'll leave everyone except exchanges alone I see this very negative for the short term.

Bankers and economists would need a mini-course to understand the word "decentralized".

But try to make them grasp the idea of money with no administrators, well the blood's on your hands...

Did you guys even read it? This is a positive sign.
Yes, I read it.  I thought it ended abruptly.  The take away is that virtual currencies are here and becoming more prevalent.  Virtual currencies are under our domain of control.  Bitcoin is on par with Liberty Reserve.  Now let's adjourn for our closed-door meeting where the agenda is What to do with bitcoin.

191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Killer App on: June 13, 2013, 06:46:39 PM
This is about progress on the most promising (my opinion) distributed exchange.  Do you think that is the killer-app that will bring the masses to bitcoin?
192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Killer App on: June 13, 2013, 06:35:32 PM
This is a spin-off from the Famous quotes about bitcoin? thread.  Specifically, it is prompted by this quote:

Quote
“Right now Bitcoin feels like the Internet before the browser.”
Wences Casares, Technology Entrepreneur

Most people here realize that the internet existed for years prior to the first browser and the "world-wide-web."  The web has often been described as the killer-app that brought the masses to the internet.  I feel that the quote above is very prescient.  From this I have a few questions for anyone interested in speaking their minds:

1) A distributed exchange is often mentioned as a critical missing piece needed for wide-spread bitcoin adoption.  Must a distributed exchange be in place before we have a "killer-app" for bitcoin?
2) Are there other critical pieces missing from the bitcoin infrastructure that need to be filled before we can have a true "killer-app" for bitcoin?  If so, what are they?
3) What will ultimately be the "killer-app" for bitcoin?

I'll probably get flamed because some of this has been talked about before, but that's okay.  I think that the quote above really does put things in perspective though.

194  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Groupbuy] Jupiter KNCMiner (0.5 BTC shares) 12 sold! [CLOSED] !!! on: June 12, 2013, 07:32:31 PM
@all, don't keep your hopes up. So far all shares are sold. The ones that are still on reserved will most likely be paid. If not we'll put em up for auction we'll organize a lottery :p
Please let me know if you plan to do the lottery - or if you decide to do another group buy.  Thx.

196  Other / Off-topic / Re: starting new project and need help finding glass bottles (possibly custom) on: June 12, 2013, 01:47:45 PM
Apparently I used https instead of http, so it wasn't saved in my history.  Anyway, I know it wasn't convoluted.  I tried it again just now with these terms: glass bottle manufacturer green marasca

These results are better than the ones I had yesterday.

I think the main "trick" to searching for hard-to-find items where you know there ought to be good hits is to use your initial results to find industry specific terms that you didn't originally know about.  Then refine your search.  Often you can find these just by scanning the page of search results without even going to any of the sites.  In this case the bottles are known as marasca bottles.  And if you don't include "manufacturer" (or something similar) you will be flooded with Pier1 and other home décor results.

mind PM'ing me the search query you used ;p would like to compare if its not private lol!
I'm on a different computer.  I'll check my history on the other computer tomorrow and send it to you.

You may have just done it! So was that some ninja search skills or something you knew about?

kosta
Good - hope it works out.

I just did a search on Google.  I used to do a lot of procurement for hard to find parts though, so maybe I search differently.

I don't understand how starting this thread would help a hijacker? Are the links to something malicious?
Maybe fishing for offers to sell btc to him/her?  Much more innocuous then just posting that you'd like to buy some btc from someone.
