Bringing in more awareness to crypto in general is good and Celebrities help with that.
For all your coworkers and classmates how are they going to learn and get interested into crypto?  Celebrities may not be the best way it is A way for people that know nothing about crypto to maybe get curious and read more into it.

Some are predicting BTC to go to 250K-500K.  If this happens, maybe Monero at 150B isn't that crazy, lol.

with governments cracking down on crypto, the anonymous coins definitely play a role.  Problem is there are quite a few of these types of coins, which one will win out?

If you are looking for short term profit (flip).  Really the only thing you need to look for is massive hype.  One where demand is much much more than supply.  Like Kyber / Chainlink, etc.

Long term hold ico is tougher to identify and need to consider a lot more things.

i've seen many ico get attacked with DDoS, really not much as an investor you can do besides helping the ico team by calming everyone down and telling them to be patient.  Hopefully the ico team has taken precaution already or ico may get delayed a bit.

there will always be good real ICO, the problem is finding them among the bad ones.

Look for a working product thats close to ICO date, something you can test or see other people using.  Best way to try and avoid a scam.

The question everyone has to ask is, does getting the name of token or product out to people who know nothing about crypto help the token?
For the most part a celebrity does not help the crypto community itself but brings awareness to people that know nothing about crypto.

So now we look at the token itself, lets look at Cobinhood, a exchange that charges 0 fees.  Someone who knows nothing about crypto who sees Jamie Foxx, and then looks at cobinhood will still not invest in cobinhood because there is a steep learning curve first to get into crypto itself.  Jamie Foxx will do nothing for the crypto because cobinhood is not something for the mainstream audience.

So how I see it is celebrities will help any token that has a appeal to mass market audience.  For example Etherparty / Blockcat would be a great token to have celebrity endorse (both do not currently use celebrities)  Enabling the non-crypto people to be able to use smart contracts on a daily basis is something great for the mass market audience and seeing a celebrity setting up escrow, setting up bets and wages between family members, use smart contract to buy a used car, etc.  I think would go along way to get it adopted.

If celebrity help get the name of crypto in general out to more people then its a good thing.  more people who know about crypto means more people will invest in general helping the market. 

people use air drops for all different reasons so definitely not all airdrops are ponzi schemes.

I own both Monetha and Aventus and am high on them, but the only issue I have with both of them is they did not get any big name exchanges and have no date when those will be available.  The longer the wait, the more I see people drop out to use funds for other ICO.  I am still hopeful but it really would help to get on more exchanges.
