181  Economy / Securities / Re: GLBSE uptime on: May 11, 2012, 04:35:32 PM
up until this thead I have no problem with 504 errors over the last several days. I must of lucked out.
Just a quick post, all GLBSE's funds are offline now (we don't keep much in our hot wallet anyway), so when we come back everything will be accounted for.

We're doing a security review before we bring things back up, we did the same after MtGox was targeted last year.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Nefario.
no problem. Id much rather be safe then sorry.
182  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WTS> Xbox 4000 Points on: May 11, 2012, 04:28:58 PM
the easiest way to get the price is from http://bitcoincharts.com/. price already changed by 20cents since this post.
183  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: FPGA comparison on: May 11, 2012, 03:35:39 PM
If nothing else, you should add a readily available GPU like the 7970 just for reference comparison purposes.
I added a used 4x 5870s rig. If you give me the information I can updated it. Now you can do it yourself as well I uploaded the spreadsheet

I already ran these numbers a few days back: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77469.msg887606#msg887606
Didnt know about that. I added more information and I think this is a little nice to look at as well then all plain text.
184  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] PPT Pirate Pass Through Bonds on: May 11, 2012, 02:01:07 PM
The PPT bond auction this week (PPT.D) will be for 2,500 bonds.

The auction will take place on Saturday morning at 2 AM UTC.  That is this Friday evening at 7 PM PDT, 8 PM MDT, 9 PM CDT and 10 PM EDT.

The bonds sold tomorrow will be redeemed 27 days 22 hours later on 6/9/2012 at 12:00 AM UTC for 1.28 BTC per bond.

See https://glbse.com/asset/view/PPT.D

The results of all previous sales can be found here:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0An2G-HmYRtr3dEFBMV9uN3FveU0tMGREdjVaZUVRTGc
Excited to see an increase in the number of bonds sold already especially with a bid of 1000 around.
185  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: iPhone miner viewer on: May 11, 2012, 12:44:38 AM
I just searched the word Bitcoin on my 4S and found these apps available. If they are eliminating Bitcoin apps, let’s see how fast these disappear out of the app store. I wonder if the FBI has a push going against Bitcoin? Dwolla visited and rules change. FBI report found. Apple doesn’t want to touch the apps anymore. Tinfoil anyone?

BitRate Bitcoin Monitor

BTCGuild View Lite

you mean none of these apps have that feature?  Why would you want to start/stop your miners you want to keep them running always?

I dont think its such a great idea. If i ever need to check my miners I look at my account on btcguild/deepbit/etc.. through the browser on my phone. There are also services which monitor your miners and send you emails if they crash.
186  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Can someone tell me what this is? on: May 10, 2012, 11:50:24 PM
how can you guys tell there there are BFL singles? The only thing I see is mhash/s around 800 are you assuming those are the single?

btw nice investigative work psy

Look at the one rig with 18 "devices".  How many 18 GPU rigs have you seen?  Smiley  Now look at the total hashrate and divide by 18 to get the average per "device".  What device do you know which matches that hashrate.
ahhh didnt even notice that column. Thanks for sharing.  Grin
187  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / FPGA comparison (includes ROI and $/day) on: May 10, 2012, 10:16:04 PM
I remember when I first got into bitcoins someone created a simple spread sheet with different rig build options. It would compare them by the initial cost, BTC/day, power consumption etc... It was useful in helping me pick out my first rig, from that idea I decided to do something similar for FPGAs to aid in figuring out which is the best one to buy.

edit: I completed the spreadsheet. It now includes your approximate ROI. I added one GPU mining rig for comparison.
Here is a basic screenshot. you can download and view the full spreadsheet from my skydrive account.
188  Economy / Securities / Re: GLBSE better, harder, stronger, faster, cheaper now with MAKER/TAKER on: May 10, 2012, 08:25:44 PM
request for some way to strip out the silly bids/asks from the charts, like the 2,000 bonds issued PPT series have 10,000 quantity bid @ 0.00000001 which just messes up the chart & makes the relevant part of the information to be not discernible, like just chart from 0.5 to 1.5 say - apart from this I like the new look & features, thanks!

https://glbse.com/asset/view/PPT.B

completely agree. I was wondering how to solve that problem myself. those silly bids are on a multitude of the assets. Id say the best method would be to hid anything more the 50%(?) off the average stock price.

Does the xbox 360's disk drive still play non-dvds (games)?
Last time I tried it scratch the disc. Im not sure if it can be fixed maybe realigned? or if it needs a new disc drive.

Hey man I exceeded my limit for messages in an hour LOL so that is why I am posting here.

I want to buy both your rigs.  Paid in full ... like we discussed about the cards but I want the boards and PSUs also!!!!  They are EXACTLY what I have been looking for.

I will message you in an hour when I can LOL or you can email me - isellbitcoins [at] gmail.com
Just saw your PM.  DANGIT!  Do you have the PSUs still?  I want those!!!
Just sold everything except the cards to likuidxd so I no longer have them either.  Undecided

193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: SECURITY ISSUES - anyone interested in a manhunt? on: May 09, 2012, 02:54:09 PM
Your password was definitely phished, caught by spyware, or taken from the database of another site (by site owner or hackers). Most mail providers have strong captchas & usually stop allowing attempts after 3-5 failed ones.

Try entering your passwrod into Google and see if anything comes up, I once done that when my email address got hacked and found a hacker forum where a hacker had posted a list of email addresses + md5 hashes of passwords that were used to signup to a site, and people were trying to crack them and posting the passwords they cracked.

interesting. If that ever happens to I will be trying that in the future.
194  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [RETYPE] - Leaked FBI Report on Bitcoin- April 2012 on: May 08, 2012, 11:30:48 PM
what does retype mean? is it a summary of the leaked report?
195  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [ANN] GLBSE has a new look! on: May 08, 2012, 06:26:52 PM
@Nefario - I read somewhere that there was no fee to issue a sub-asset, but I just issued some new assets and was charged a fee for the sub assets?  Has this changed?  I don't see a link to the fee schedule anywhere on the site? (I could be blind.. lol)

teek

Hi Teek,
All you're fees can be seen here https://us.glbse.com/portfolio/fees after logging in.
That link shows from the asset page when logged in.

Regarding fees for sub-assets there has always been fees for them, and we've never said any different.

It also shows you the fee you will be charged right above the "Create" button when creating an asset.

Fee

You will be charged 8.0BTC to create this security, this charge is not refundable.

tested us.glbse. i live in the US. it is a little fast the biggest improvement if that there are no large spikes.

196  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE - request for next features on: May 08, 2012, 01:48:00 AM
great work. on glbse the new charts are much better then the ones on 2.0

Can't recall if it's been mentioned before, but it would be nice if you could edit orders without having to cancel and then re-enter a new order.
if by edit you mean decrease the number of shares I agree. Thats the only way you should be able to edit an order without losing your "place" timestamp. It stinks putting up a sale of 200 only to take it down to put up 100 and lose my spot as being the first sale. I guess create a "revoke/edit" button on the portfolio page next to each current sale order and buy order allowing you to decrease the number of shares your buying or selling without losing your timestamp.
197  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5830 missing heatpipe. Is it safe? on: May 08, 2012, 01:28:57 AM
yes. It will just be a little worse at dissipating heat. try to make it and "end" card on either end of your mobo or use an pcie extender. With a "normal" mining environment where you keep a decent temperature you wont have a problem

Personally I would prefer to stick with just the 1 weekly offer of 2,000 or more bonds, make it a Sunday when most people are free - a lot of eBay auctions end then for this reason & choose a time like 5pm UTC which would work well for both US, EU & Asia

5pm UTC = 6pm UK = 7 pm CET = 1pm NY = 10am LA = Midnight BKK

Multiple auctions with less bonds per week just complicates things unnecessarily imo & is too much to keep monitoring the different issue's prices on, is demand going to be 50:50 between US & EU anyway

Agreed I prefer sticiking selling at one time. I think Saturday is better then Sunday but the time sounds good.

I've been looking the project up a bit more, and it seems like there has been some controversies:

Well that killed it for me. I wonder why the tests were unsuccessful and why the professor said it wouldn't work.
