Hi Guys

We would like to say that. Yes....we did tape-out of the ASIC some time ago. The exact details of the ASIC schedule, volumes, vendor etc. is kept internal since it's very sensitive information towards competitors. The product development tasks are on-track."

We are still on schedule to begin shipping in September.

Thanks
KnCMiner Team

I think I just heard dozens of upgrade orders go through.  <G>

That was nice of them to post the info on the forum.  This thread isn't exactly short.

Yes, dozens of upgrade orders that push Jupiter owners' delivery dates back.  Not grinning here.

Oh for crying out loud, it's not at all. Maybe a few Saturns. Hardly anyone has ordered more than one Saturn, as multiples make no sense if the option of Jupiter has always been there, which it has. Secondly, peeps pick Saturn and/or Mercury because it fits their pocket and that's all they can afford. Thirdly according to these guys, dozens aren't going to effect their productivity when it comes to manufacture as they are capable of scaling proportionally as required...

One month back I felt stupid to order two Saturns... better now  Cheesy

Wondering if this news release will cause an influx of new orders/upgrades or not. Or it doesn't say much yet. Thoughts? Anyone pushing the upgrade button?

I haven't pushed it yet, but I'd say it's likely that my 2 Saturns will become Jupiters.

same here Smiley

187  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Network Protection statement from KNCMiner on: July 19, 2013, 09:57:36 AM
For me, this statement means different things (apart from good or bad PR/ intentions)

-> They dont intend to further flood the market after diff. got to high for their 1st gen devices to ever ROI
-> They want to protect customer ROI to let them reinvest in new gen. device (good for customer & good for them)
-> Keep diff. low enough to farm with their own devices (good for them)
-> Signaling other competitors that they do not want to get involved into a senseless, neverending, all ROI destroying ASIC race
-> Signaling other competitors that they are interested in a slow growth of network diff. which would be the best for the whole network
-> Signaling other competitors that they are fully armed in case it comes down to a race
-> Signaling customers that their product is limited (-> buy it, now!, good PR move indeed)
-> Most positive signal for me -> they are very confident about what they do

... place your bets Wink

I noticed that there was a mention of the ability to upgrade the miners i.e Saturn to Jupiter? How does that work and will the upgrades effect queue position?

Cheers

As far as I followed this thread no one knows exactly what will happen to your position - all speculation. Someone should forward this q to KnC
191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 12, 2013, 09:34:53 AM
well, I find 350$ hard to swallow.

Will be highly dependend on your location and what you pay for energy. I calculated it earlier in this thread. In Germany for instance you pay on average 0.25€/ 0.32$ for 1kW/h.

This means around 230$ per month electricity for a Jupiter. Adding all the hosting-services they will (probably) provide 350$ is a pretty attractive offer. In areas with lower power costs this may not be the case.
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 11, 2013, 09:43:20 PM
I mean:

-> e.g. you ordered and payed for a Saturn on 20th June
-> Now you upgrade to Jupiter lets say on 10th August - you also do your "upgrade" payment on 10th August

What is the "paying" date for your order? 20th June oder 10th August? As far as I understood this will have big impact on delivery date of your machine due KnC said "First paid, first serve".
I think the order/payment position of your Saturn remains, and the new order for the upgrade gets a new position.

Meh w.r.t. production you're talking of a module or two added to an existing order, not a brand new order of multiple units. No one will have ordered multiple Saturns when they could pay less for Jupiters and an odd Saturn at the end if that's what they could afford at the time. So even in that example at worst it's an additional two modules to an order...

Hehe - that being said. I ordered 2 Saturns instead of 1 Jupiter Cheesy - Feels stupid now omg

Why?? Surely you could have that altered. Not only is it additional funds, surely it's wasted additional electricity?!

I ordered one Saturn -.... and decided for a second later on - will surely merge them in case of given possibility. Let's wait how the new shop will look like :-)
Why not upgrade one, sell the other when it is in-hand... might pay off a bit.

Ya, possibly a nice option - depending on how this whole story continues - ... so many unknown factors...

What do you mean with "technically pay later"?

I mean:

196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 11, 2013, 02:36:25 PM
what you think ?

it is possible to upgrade from mars to jupiter by buying 3 upgrade modules ?

... and more important... will you loose you current order spot because you technically pay later?
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 11, 2013, 02:26:34 PM
Something tells me that if there was any scamming afoot, the hosting option would not be priced as it is. Perhaps electricity is more expensive there, but that just seems a bit high? Was figuring they would take a percentage of the coins mined, but the release reads like payment may be requested in USD? Just have to wait for more details and see I guess. After reading that portion of the update, I'm now seriously thinking about having my unit shipped.

In Europe you easily pay 0,30$ per 1000W/h. We use too much green energy here Wink

0,3$*24h*30days = 216$ alone for energy per month.... :-/

So from my point of view pricing is ok
198  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnCMiner list of orders on: July 10, 2013, 08:50:30 AM

"Shipping on Production day 2" (1st unit)to Hawaii baby, Oyeah
P.S.  Fox.... apologies.

When did your status change to paid? Mine has said new and i paid for mine july 6th, thanks!!

I paid for mine on July 5th with paypal and it shows paid (or rather payed) at the top of the order status when I click on the more link but still shows "New" in the summary column.  I wouldn't worry about it as this has been normal behavior for all the orders to date.  I think I saw elsewhere in this thread that the newer orders may not show paid with a ship date until August sometime.

Also couple other odd things about paying for paypal in case anyone else experienced the same thing and is wondering.  Right after I paid with paypal and got the confirmation screen, some of the text on the website had changed to Russian cyrilic which was a little disconcerting.  I also received an automatic call from Paypal the following morning to verify the payment was intended.  I figure once you begin to speculate in btc and pre-order mining equipment that has never been built, no sense in being squeemish now  Grin

I ordered and paid on June 19 with paypal. Status "New" was changed to "Paid" after around 2 weeks... (manually by them I guess)
