181  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's get rid of all regulations, what can possibly go wrong on: June 24, 2023, 04:22:19 PM
If you have been reading the news lately, you would know the story about OceanGate submarine that failed and killed all people onboard. The cause of this tragic incident is that the creator of the submarine chose to ignore regulations. He believed that they are only in place to stifle innovation and that he knows better than the others and can't be wrong.

OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush said in 2021 he knew he'd 'broken some rules' by making the Titanic submersible out of carbon fiber and not pure metal: 'You're remembered for the rules you break'l

This should be a cautionary tale to people who dream about society without government and its regulations. Imagine if someone makes an "experimental and innovative" nuclear reactor that explodes and gives radiation sickness + cancer to hundreds of thousands. Or someone makes an "experimental and innovative" dam that collapses and floods houses. Invisible hand of the market won't be able to undo the damage or prevent it in the future from repeating again.
I think obviously some of the government regulations are very important in some aspects if you see. They are not made to stop you but obviously to safeguard you. Even in cryptos etc they are made for this purpose only, because we don't have the solution to the problems that might come many governments think an outright ban could help but it doesn't eventually when our technology will grow, governments might be able to find actual solutions to these issues and then allow Cryptos in a regulated environment.
182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 23, 2023, 08:18:18 PM
- Pujara is out and they went back with Rahane as a Vice Captain (no ball from Cummins saved Rahane's career lol). Wondering if Kohli time is also coming?
- In the batting department 2 new guys Gaikwad and Jaiswal are in but the top performer of the Ranji are neglected.

I highly doubt that they'll drop Pujara, i think this might be more like a rest for him and he'll get another chance for sure, he is a big veteran equivalent to Kohli, Rohit when it comes to Tests. There can't be a better series to test Jaiswal and Gaikwad, it would've been even better to rest maybe Rohit to test even Sarfaraz Khan who was playing great in first class. Good place to test our bowling bench strength as well.
183  Economy / Economics / Re: South Africa in trouble. on: June 23, 2023, 08:15:12 PM
The recent accusation by US Ambassador Reuben E. Brigety that South Africa sent arms to Russia is making investors sell off the South African rand and bonds. Investors are scared that the US and its allies will hit the country with severe economic sanctions. The rand has lost value since the news was published, the currency is now 19.3250 against the dollar, its weakest in three years.

If it is confirmed that South Africa sent weapons and ammunition to Russia, the country will suffer economic problems because of sanctions. It will also be a big blow to the African economy because South Africa is the economic powerhouse of Africa. Many South African countries like Zimbabwe, Botswana Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, etc, depend on South Africa economically. South Africa also employs a greater number of Africans because they have many striving multinational firms.

As an African, I pray this accusation is not true because a sanction on South Africa is a sanction on the entire Africa.
First of all i am sure even if South Africa did supply arms to Russia, this thing will never completely get confirmed because even NATO would not want to give heat to the issue of war once again because if Sanctions are brought it'll slowly start becoming the World vs NATO. Some people labelling BRICS here, it has nothing to do with that, it's a non defensive union so no diplomacy around defense would be played there. But in general it would leave a bad impression for the NATO doing this. Secondly even if It's proved there is unlikely chance again to put sanctions on South Africa, US is already on brink of collapse with Russian sanctions, South Africa is diamond provider for world it'll create new issues in global supply chain again which obviously US won't be able to handle.
184  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Luck is what you need in gambling but you have to get to work with trading on: June 23, 2023, 05:56:39 PM
I have read many discussions about trading and gambling, some people have rather joined the two as gambling. That is not totally true. For traders who agree that trading is same with gambling, they are just lazy to go into work and adopt the ethical way to trade and those are:

1. To cut your losses and increase your profit: You can conveniently do this by using stop loss or take profit adjustment or trailing stop but in gambling, is one straight end once you have gone on the bet, you either loss all you bet or win or you bet for.

2. A trader can adjust his risk appetite by reducing the lots size to suit his account and determine his appropriate leverage but in gambling, a bettor has to go with the odds provided for the gay. He can't reduce or increase it against the fixed odds.

3. Traders use analytical tools to determine what market price will be and wait for appropriate timing but gamblers play by the rules of casino.

Trading is not gambling. You require luck in gambling but you require work in trading.

What is your thought.
I think the problem with people trading and gambling both is that they do it with the mindset of gambling. If you apply proper rules of risk management in both of them, both can be really profitable to be honest or atleast won't be big loss making ventures. Trading only difference is that you can actually move the factor of chance on your side by some strategies and main aim is obviously to get that strategy right and after that make sure risk management is correctly used as well.
185  Economy / Economics / Re: Fast Transportation Makes Economic Turnover Faster on: June 23, 2023, 05:53:51 PM
Quote
izza lovers attending the Glastonbury festival in the United Kingdom are in for an extraordinary surprise this year. Domino’s, the renowned pizza chain, has been making waves on the internet for a different kind of pizza delivery service. The video circulating on social media platforms shows the use of jet suits. Daily Mirror reported that as music enthusiasts prepare to immerse themselves in the festivities at Worthy Farm in Somerset, their pizza cravings will be catered to in an unprecedented way. Domino’s has recently launched a trial of the world’s first jet-suit pizza delivery service. The footage shows a pilot effortlessly soaring above the Glastonbury pizza place, sporting a custom-made jetpack. With a specially designed delivery box securely attached to the jet suit. Equipped with jet-engine powered arm mounts, the pilot propels into the sky, gracefully gliding over the vast fields of Glastonbury.

The article above shows a video about a pizza delivery that was carried out by Dominos using a jet pack. that's why I was inspired to make this topic

do you all agree that with the emergence of fast transportation now, the economic turnover is also getting faster, this is based on the fact that any delivery will be distributed quickly, automatically it will make the price of living necessities and kind remains stable as long as it can be distributed quickly!

- Video Shows Delivery Agent On Jetpack Flying To Serve Pizza; Real Or Fake?
Obviously yes. Not only faster but wider as well. Earlier the interdependency of states was limited to the export or import that takes places now with so much easy movement the circulation of money other than export import is also pretty high. This is the reason why fiscal measures that governments take these days end up being so accurate because they actually show results very quickly because of quick movement of people, goods and money.
186  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 22, 2023, 08:21:08 PM
And they should because that's a new way for the Poms. They have already tried other things and failed miserably so McCullum is right and that's why he got the job.
I reckon, if they continue with this mindset then they will become a very likable team, saying it because I used to hate this team because of their timid approach but it's changing for good, which is refreshing.

Well. Let's see how the remainder of the series turns out for them. Over-aggression may not work against strong teams such as India and Australia. BTW, their bowling is looking quite weak, apart from Stuart Broad. Anderson is showing signs of ageing, while Robinson and Moeen Ali cracked under pressure during the first test. They need someone who can get the tailenders out quickly. Someone like Mark Wood. I guess he is out due to injury. And this issue is nothing new. Last time when India toured, the England bowlers conceded plenty of runs against the tailend batsmen.

Out of all the things that England could have found a problem with, they are actually finding it hard to get the tailenders out. This is actually a little funny Cheesy. I also remember that against India, they conceded a lot of brands to 30 lenders. I also remember them giving 35 in one over against Bumrah. Of course, it was not all scored by Bumrah. There surely were a lot of wides and no balls. But they did concede. I think they just need someone who can get the ball into Yorker length. That is certainly going to get the tailenders out.

I think that was occasional, but this time it was Patt Cummins he isn't a tailender to be honest, he played a very good knock against India as well in WTC final. So i don't really think it's problem with England. Also even overall lower order test batsmen have now starting playing better so I feel it's a phenomenon I see in almost every match. Good batting till number 9 atleast, india also will have Ashwin and even Shami who can bat well.
187  Local / India / Re: How to Report Signature Campaign Earnings on ITR Forms? on: June 22, 2023, 08:18:19 PM
Cleartax might not be 100% right here. Whatever was written was true until 2 years back until the new section on crypto was not bought, now with the new section there is no legal backing on declaring your signature income as salaries. No section says this and no notification says this as well. Point is whenever you sell your crypto to cash you are liable to flat tax under 115BH, there is exception mentioned and no case law saving you so far. Point is if you are stuck in assessment you'll be charged a flat 30% rate unless you are able to convince CIT(A) otherwise in an appeal.

There is nil information as to how file the tax return from crypto. The government is still trying to understand how to milk the middle class that has made crypto as their earning. As per my understanding, meme coins traders are generating more revenue than guys like you. The amount of money these guys are minting by only trading with meme coins is above average. While people like you and me are getting crypto either through campaigns or airdrops. Where as those who made a ton of money are utilizing the hype of a project.

In the end none of us can hide from tax. We would pay it back, wherein I am sure we would be asked to pay flat 30 percent as tax. Still, we have an opportunity so why not utilize it.
If anyone wants to file it this way obviously he/ she has discretion to do so, but as a tax professional it's always my responsibility to guide a person about the risks associated with it. Basic logic is Government would always want you to take up foreign remittances in INR because it makes forex stronger. They will never offer same treatment to remittance received in BTC as that of INR. Also problem is if you are unlucky and you are asked to pay it later, you might even have to pay hefty interest or even penalty of under reporting or mis reporting of income and the sum in total might even be equal to income you earned.
188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hold Bitcoin VS Hold Gold on: June 22, 2023, 08:12:33 PM
First of all basic assumption i am taking is that holding is for a better gain in future. Now if you compare an overall return of let's say even last 10 years of both bitcoin and gold you'll have your answer. But I would edit you on one thing. It's absolutely wrong to say that gold has no monetary functions many governments make use of gold as an instrument to borrow large sums of money so told definitely is a good monetary asset even used by bit government but for a personal holding option, obviously bitcoin is better.
189  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic problem, why is fiat difficult to hold. on: June 22, 2023, 04:17:35 PM
Why is money at hand difficult to hold? I usually find it difficult to keep track of money anytime I have cash at hand, I make plans to hold money, but It never stays because something always demands the money, it is even so bad now that money kept in my account is also now being affected due to expenses. This is not something that happens to only me, I know that because of how money can easily be spent, many people now decide to avoid having cash, avoid taking ATM cards from their banks and also avoid activating USSD or internet banking, but is that really a long term solution? I blame myself a lot for spending so much and being irresponsible with money, but in your opinion, do you think that the soceity is contributing to the high and many expenses making money not to stay or is it just a bad habit I have?
This is very true. It's our habit only. Just assess the situation that you had previously with limited money in hand. Will you be borrowing money? Or will you be okay? If you would be okay then you are spending money in a wrong way but if you might have to borrow money eventually then you are right it's just the expenses that you have are unavoidable and absolutely necessary and you need to raise up your income in this scenario to ensure savings.
190  Economy / Economics / Re: The SEC is right. It's not about Bitcoin, it's about centralized shitcoins. on: June 18, 2023, 04:28:26 PM
I'm tired to read all the comments in the vein of "the SEC is threatening the crypto world" or "the SEC wants Bitcoin to stay small".  Roll Eyes

The SEC's action against Coinbase and Binance has quite clear accusations: these exchanges allowed trading of securities without being authorized to do so. And they offered services like "staking" which are quite similar to bank products and thus also need authorization.

Is any of these accusations related to Bitcoin? No. The SEC has already clarified that Bitcoin is not a security. So the accusations have nothing to do with Bitcoin.

Instead, the accusations are deeply related to the mess the altcoin world has become in the last years, mostly since the "ICO craze" of 2017/18. More than 95% of all altcoins, I would estimate 98-99%, are managed in a completely centralized way, with a team in charge of everything collecting large profits. The most notorious example are the premines. These businesses create coins out of thin air - just a "bug" of the fiat world many Bitcoiners want to "fix" - to pay for marketing, bounties and shills with tokens. These tokens and coins are ... securities.

You don't have to be even a Bitcoin maximalist - I tolerate altcoins with decentralized components and ICOs which are clearly focused on a non-crypto product - to see that these developments have nothing to do with Satoshi's ideal of a decentralized peer to peer cash.

So let's calm down. This is not against Bitcoin. It's against shady business models where companies pretend they are decentralized but aren't, and want a cheaper and less consumer-protecting way to finance their businesses (or directly run away with your money). And it's also about crypto exchanges pretending they aren't banks - but they are, as long as they offer products like so-called "staking" (which nothing has to do with real proof-of-stake).

It brings me hope that Bitcoin seems to be the least affected by the last price drop after the SEC accusations. People seem to begin to understand Smiley
Obviously yes it you see the general sentiment of the crypto community, mostly all of them are in favour whatever SEC has done. Even though this might ene up with these big currencies being correct yet this will be good for overall moderation of the crypto community. This will ensure all the shitcoins are now aware of that fact that SEC can come anytime to hammer your activities. And obviously as you said the best part is that bitcoin is not that severally impacted with all this.
191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 18, 2023, 04:02:09 PM
Didn't expect Australia to end up trailing England. England lost two quick wickets though putting a lot of pressure on the remaining batsmen since I feel that they will lose if they post a target under 300.

Rain could end this match in a draw though I hope we get to see a proper result soon since both teams are neck and neck in this contest at the moment.

Also, it looks like the English and the Aussies are duking it out over Ali's messup which I don't consider tampering at all though I could be wrong.
A draw is the last thing I am expecting in this match (except for the rain scenario). I am waiting for another surprise declaration from the Stokes, similar to Pindi's test.

We have a total of 180 overs but we can reduce this to 140-150 overs affairs due to a slow over-rate and breaks. Also won't rule out the T-20 approach with all out scenario for Poms.

I missed out on Moeen's drama with the ball.

I pretty much expected this from Aussies they generally struggle a lot of carrey and Starc get out. I feel that today was a good opportunity for Aussies to take up quick wickets of England and pull this match to their side but rain unfortunately took their chances for such a thing. Now after the break in momentum if play resumes tomorrow England can bat full day tomorrow and make this match a draw for sure.
192  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Multiple timeframes is another means of getting better market clarity on: June 18, 2023, 03:53:53 PM
It's never a bad saying that "two are better than one," and most times in trading, 'multiple' could even be better, if not the best. This topic is a sequel to my initial topic on the better approach between one or more strategies in trading (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5454944.0). As expected, some went for one strategy while others went for combined strategies in which the latter being my preference as it helps me filter my trading signal better than when I use a single strategy.

Now, it's the turn of the timeframe. These two (strategy and timeframe) are so important in trading as they have rightly shaped my trading today. Although I don't condemn any trading approach, yet I discovered in my trading experience that one of the mistakes traders make is to stick to a single timeframe. They believe it will not confuse them forgetting that there are many other traders working on other timeframes that they ignored. They often blame their strategy and might not know that the same strategy is warning them on another timeframe(s) that they ignored.

Whether you are a long or short-term trader, no matter the timeframes you are using to analyze the market, others might be trading differently. This is more reason why I like to use at least 5 timeframes for trading, which will surely increase my chance of capturing the true psychology of the market at that time. And you know what? All of them must agree on a particular direction before I pull the trigger.

This is another style that may slow your trading down, but believe me, it's to your advantage. It's worth it as it filters noise out of the market and makes you trade less, lose less and win more.

Expect more on another topic...
This is actually a very good idea. Not only because you get better clarity but also because this ensures you know the trend of the market in all time frames. If you know both the long term trend and the medium term trend you know what are you doing in the short term trend as well. It increases your confidence and gives you confluences on any trade.
193  Economy / Economics / Re: Lucky you do not sell to blackrock on: June 18, 2023, 03:50:37 PM
A few day ago blackrock happy was buy cheap many btc in the market. Now, you are regret to sold it to big company which will be resold back to you with high price in the next years.
This actually is a normal market phenomenon these big giants will always enter the market at these crucial points when no one is buying and everyone is ready to sell. They take advantage of the FUD and an average retail investor will unnecessarily sell its holding to these companies because of the huge fuzz they will create about how bad bitcoin is. I won't be surprised if they only first manipulated the market to this dump we saw in last few days.
194  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: One or more trading strategies, which one do you prefer? on: June 17, 2023, 08:44:39 PM
There isn't many. There is always 2-3 at Max. Mostly because of different market situation. You have different strategy for a trending market, a different strategy for a consolidating market and a very different strategy for a sideways market. You first recognise wait for the trigger then recognise whether this trigger is useful for this type of market or not and then you eventually go into that particular trade.
I guess you are not getting the gist at all, there is no maximum for the strategies you can combine, only that you might want to limit them reasonably to avoid confusion. Those that you mentioned are just what the market could do, they are not strategies. And to buttress this, a trader could have three strategies combined together for only trend detection. What about that? Not to talk about considering other conditions of the market to find more strategies to detect them.
Trend detection is generally never part of the strategy, it's the premise or the prerequisite we look for before applying the strategy, so i am looking at it in a different way. For me I have let's say 3 different strategies, each of which has a signal attached with it. I'll find for a signal as per my strategies and then go towards trend detection and confirm whether the signal of that particular strategy is correct or not and whether the relevant strategy will be valid in this market or not.
195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin is legalized, a dream of mine would come true on: June 17, 2023, 08:39:11 PM
As a Bangladeshi I have a dream cherished inside my heart, but in reality it is not possible to realize my dream. My house is located near a popular bridge in Bangladesh and on both sides of the bridge there are parks and sightseeing spots for travelers. My father has organized a food hotel next to that sightseeing spot. I sometimes spend some time in that hotel between studies. I've been nursing a dream for as long as I've been on Bitcoin forums. If Bitcoin was legalized in Bangladesh, I would take a payment system through Bitcoin with a pizza restaurant.
But my dreams will remain dreams because Bitcoin will never be legalized by the government in my country.
Hahah honestly each one of us has thought of a lot of dreams around bitcoin being legal. More importantly not only legal i also want it to be an integral part of our payment system which means we should ordinarily do transaction in bitcoin only. But obviously it looks more like a dream only right now. Especially in your country like Bangladesh where the government is too much against it right now. It won't change until the whole west changes first.
196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 17, 2023, 07:40:52 PM
Khawaja remarkable performance has undoubtedly contributed to Australia's total of 311-5 in their first innings trailing England by 82 runs. the dismissals of Warner Smith and Labuschagne in quick succession England Board and Stokes showcased their bowling prowess adding pressure to the Australian team. Labuschagne unfortunately couldn't open his account of runs. But amidst the tension Usman Khawaja emerged as a shining star displaying exceptional skill and determination. He played a brilliant innings reaching an impressive score of 126 runs before being run out. The partnership between Khawaja and Carey holds promise and it will be fascinating to see how long they can continue their stay at the crease.

Aussies are now once again in command after losing few quick wickets. Stokes must be thinking about his decision of declaring first innings on 393 runs. Khawaja after failing miserably in WTC final has performed nicely so far in this test. Khawaja is still not out on 126 runs. Australia still have 5 wickets left and chances are they may take lead of 100 runs in first innings but for that they need khawaja on the pitch.
I don't understand the decision of Declaration by the English team first of all, even after 8 wickets some 20-30 more odd runs would have helped also not to mention 400 is a big psychological mountain as well. Aussies on the other hand have been literally saved by this partnership for 6th wicket, but still this match looks to me more like a draw so far, if England can bat till end of day 4, it's hard to expect a result against England, but yes first it'll be interesting to see where the Aussies end.
197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to fight with FUD about Bitcoin on: June 17, 2023, 07:31:54 PM
I'm an active participant in quora. Mostly I'm engaged in cryptocurrency discussion in Bengali. My purpose is simply to fight against FUD, misinformation. I have been doing this actively for long time now. I have engaged in debates in quora.

For the last few years, I'm trying to have a debate about Bitcoin with Mohammad Ghoni who was a Professor in a private university of Bangladesh. He claims himself as a economic analyst.

However, his negativity against Bitcoin is totally stupid. In fact, it seems he is biased when talking about Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency. He talks nonsense as if he doesn't know anything about Bitcoin. He is spreading wrong information about Bitcoin in quora. It's simple, when you don't know anything perfectly and you want to talk about that, you will only generate some stupid text.

I tried to engage with him in his responses. I'm ready to have a debate with him. The problem is he doesn't reply when someone wants to talk against his stupid opinion. He simply put answer on quora and then leave. I have replied in many of his answer in quora but never got a reply.
Now, I'm getting more concerned because he is spreading negativity in most of the questions. What can I do? Is there anything legal step someone can take, any foundation working on such issue? Or how can I invite him for a debate? I can simply put him on ignore but I'm also concerned about people getting wrong message. That's why I'm thinking something different.
You can't do anything. If he is spreading misinformation on the technicalities of bitcoin, i think reporting it to Quora itself might help. But if he is just talking about consequences of using it then obviously you can't do anything. This is what we call freedom of speech after all, if someone is advocating one specific opinion and is in no case ready to listen to anyone, he has the right to do so, you can't say that this is wrong or anything, and neither can you do anything legally, especially in favor of bitcoin in countries like India or Bangladesh ( assuming from Bengali dialect)
198  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: June 16, 2023, 07:52:37 PM
Asia Cup groups were revealed. India, Nepal and Pakistan falls under one group 1. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan comes under the group 2. This makes the matches very interesting as India vs Pakistan match will be promoted big by the media. Nepal have improved much and hope this helps have good cricket with India and Pakistan.

In the second group, we can expect Sri Lanka to be on the top position. Bangladesh and Afghanistan will have similar odds which will keep things challenging to take the second position on the group.
I think they always intentionally keep Ind vs Pak in the same group to ensure they play atleast 1 match with each other for sure and if things be good they might even play 2 matches as well. But overall It would be a great encounter of both the teams before the worldcup as well which too I feel can be won by any of two. Being in the subcontinent I think Australia has less chances of lifting it this time and number 2, 3 are Pak and India so yes something to look forward to for sure.
199  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: One or more trading strategies, which one do you prefer? on: June 16, 2023, 07:47:53 PM
I have been in the world of trading for a while, and over the years there have always been controversies over the best, whether to use a single strategy for trading or a combination of strategies.

Personally, I don't have issues with that, many of my trading strategies can stand alone. But experience chose for me over time. I now combine trading strategies and it has helped me to better filter my trading signals for greater performance. And if any of that strategies did not confirm the same signal, I do not go for it.

What about you, what is your preference, and why?
There isn't many. There is always 2-3 at Max. Mostly because of different market situation. You have different strategy for a trending market, a different strategy for a consolidating market and a very different strategy for a sideways market. 2. is crypto is very cold in india nowadays?
Yep. Too cold. I remember how it was talk of town back in 2021-22 times when it was at it's peak. People were even holding seminars around it and claiming that you can become ultra rich by investing into shitcoins. After the bear run and eventually huge tax burdens by government crypto is really cold now and people have once again started to think about this as a scam.
