181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Regarding risers and PSU cables on: January 31, 2018, 12:30:04 AM
so the solution is just use PCIE 6-pin splitter, one end for riser, and another one for gpu, so each gpu+riser only use one cable from PSU
My graphics cards take two PCIE connectors each and draw a lot of current.  I'm not sure it would be advisable to use a splitter and have that one cable provide all the power for both the GPU and the riser.

If I can use molex I will use that over sata.
182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / payout on demand on: January 31, 2018, 12:16:07 AM
Are there any pools other than MPH that do on-demand payouts?
183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Looking for pool - help please on: January 30, 2018, 08:37:25 PM
What pools are there that will allow you to control payouts?

MPH is the only one I know of.  Are there any others?

Are there any pools available to mine on that don't have auto payouts?

I want to control payouts for tax purposes here in the US.  Too many transactions to keep track of.
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IRS ruining mining on: January 30, 2018, 04:53:45 AM
Besides the fact you're commiting a crime.  A transaction of 10,000 is reported by banks. So not six figures.

Ok so you can split that up and try to hide it that way. If you ever get audited you could go to jail. It's a risk you take.

This is so disappointing to read about today. Took the wind outta my sails completely.
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / IRS ruining mining on: January 30, 2018, 04:04:55 AM
After reading more about the new US tax rules for crypto currency mining I'm really upset.

1) IRS wants you to keep track of every single payout in USD value.  Claim that as income.  Many pools have auto payout and do this 12x each day.  Keeping track of that is a nightmare!

2) After you have already paid a hefty income tax on the currency you mine.  You now have to pay another large tax on capital gains if you sell.

It is not difficult to predict up to 50% of what you mine going to pay taxes.  The only way around this is to lie and commit tax evasion.  If you're OK with that then you'll be in huge trouble if you ever get audited.

If you don't want to commit a crime then I don't see how this is worth it.  I'm seriously considering shutting my stuff down and selling while the GPU prices are through the roof.

IRS is ruining everything for us here in the US.  It is even worse for traders who have to keep track of every single trade they make.  Ridiculous!!
187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: another riser question on: January 29, 2018, 02:19:29 PM
Right now just (3) 1080ti.

One 1080ti will be on motherboard.  The other 2 on riser.

GPU will need at least 3 pci-e cable.  Riser will need 2 more.  Total of 5.  Even if that enough for now it may not be when 1 more GPU go in.

That why I'm asking about molex or sata.
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / another riser question on: January 29, 2018, 01:43:48 PM
Good morning gentlemens.   Smiley

I purchase this riser kit:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077JYBDYT/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This psu:
https://www.evga.com/products/Product.aspx?pn=220-P2-1200-X1

Ideally I can power these riser with direct pci-e connector from the psu.  Problem is with several (1080ti) GPU I won't have enough cables or connectors to hook up risers and gpu with pci-e.

What is best option then?  Direct connection with molex from PSU?  Or use SATA adapters?

Many thanks.

I'm getting 1.0/day with 155 MH/s

LUX, Altminer.net

Still not as good as WTM calculates.  WTM is always wrong by 15-20% for me.  Even on other coins.

191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ryzen 7 CPU Miners....what cooler are you using? on: January 28, 2018, 02:33:50 PM
Keep in mind cryptonight doesn't hammer the CPU.  Look at your usage.  It doesn't use hyperthreading.  This is a good thing in that it runs efficiently.  Nice and cool.

If you try to mine zcoin for instance it will fly up in temps.

You know what didn't just double but in fact tripled?

The amount of whining, crying, and complaining about GPU mining on gaming forums.   Roll Eyes

Looks like the staking issue might be fixed for me after unlocking the wallet.  However with only a small amount of coins it says 6 months before I get any kind of reward.

Shows you how ignorant I am of the whole concept  Cheesy

Pretty unlikely I'll ever get a stake reward unless I buy coins outright vs. mining with this little outfit.  I'd need a LOT more in the wallet to make a difference.
195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU mining will die in 2018! on: January 27, 2018, 01:37:59 PM
GPU mining consumes a tiny fraction of overall world energy output.

Total hysteria.  It's a non-issue.
196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: January 26, 2018, 07:23:27 PM
Look at the pool benchmarks.

Most with phi are intensity 19-20
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: January 26, 2018, 02:27:52 PM
I agree with that statement.  Therefore users must be careful of where they obtain the miner clients from to avoid keyloggers introduced via that method.  That also goes without saying they should be careful otherwise to not pick up a keylogger or trojan via more common methods of introduction.  Whether they mine with a computer or not.  It's a real problem.

Keygens, infected miner clients, etc. are one of the common vectors.

EDIT:  To be clear I am not debating your point.  If possible it is best to keep them separate.  But then that goes for even using banking websites on any computer that could have risky software run on it.
198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: January 26, 2018, 02:11:20 PM
That is good advice however not always practical.

In those cases I think it best to:
a) back up the wallets
b) encrypt the wallets
c) regularly scan for malware (exclude miner folder(s))
d) keep operating systems and software patched
e) don't go to risky websites unless in a virtual (hyper-v, vmware) window
f) be careful where you obtain miner clients from

In short follow best security practices otherwise.  Minimize risk.

If you're patient with the wallet and don't click on anything when it goes into Not Responding - it will typically snap out of it at least temporarily.

I'd rather they take their time and get a more bug free version released rather than rush out something full of more issues.

How many connections your wallet have?
It varies.  Usually 12-20.

The wallet is encrypted does it need to remain unencrypted to stake?

Thanks that is a great job of answering my question and I appreciate it.
