Is kano still alive?
5 days ago i setup 10 pcs of S9 to kano, and still NOTHING.
I think btc.com or antpool is much better.... for example, 10 pcs of S9 on btc.com gives me 0.016 BTC daily.

0.016 per S9  /10 = .0016 per s9?   Funny I am getting .002795 per s9 up until the last block.  I have not calculated it until today though.

Wait, I'll update the number of days in my excel sheet to see what it is......  AND...
THE ANSWER IS  .002399 per day per S9  - Calculated for a 13.5 TH S9
 so, .002399 - .0016 = .000799   X your 10 S9 = .00799 x  $11700 US =   $93.483

WOW!  That is the number you want to give up PER DAY..

Just imagine what it is when BTC is at 20000 usd

fyi that is 159.80 per day
And $1118.60 per week
and $4794 per 30 days  (  Free S9 here )
WOW!  $58327 per year!

Ok I get it, the equation is not linear...  but you get the point.

Antminer A3 SHIPPING STARTED YESTERDAY

Received my tracking No. Smiley Smiley Smiley

I got a tracking number too!  YAY!  Now to find where to set it up to?  Which pools are the best?  I heard there was only 2?

And nicehash's live marketplace for blake 2b is pretty umm..  bad..

So where is the best place to mine to?  I'd prefer to get BTC or at least an easy way to exchange sia for BTC.

Thanks

FYI, I only have tracking number for A3, but PSU was apparently not shipped.  I do have a spare anyways for all my other miners...  See I knew it would come in handy.  More than likely the PSU will ship the next day.

I’m thinking about joining Kano pool. I started out mining recently at BTC.com but have recently learned that they are more concerned with themselves than the crypto community. Can anybody with experience tell me what to expect differently switching to Kano? Currently I get some BTC every minute or so it seems like and then get the payout at 6pm every night with a little extra from transaction fees. I’m just curious what to expect from Kano. I’ll only have about 20th to bring to the pool for now until I get some more mining funds and can buy a few more miners.

You need two things here at Kano pool. Patience and a decent pair of dance shoes. If you can summon up some patience and stick out your ramp-up time you will have higher payouts than anywhere else. You will also experience a very active pool community and a very responvie pool operator.

Hey folks,

I'm a newbie and just switched my 4 s9 over to Kano. Someone told me to try Asspool and I was not impressed.   I don't really know much about all of these number and equations/calculations that are often discussed.  But I am HERE TO STAY WITH KANO.  Just let it all ride, lol

So what do you mean when you say ramp up?  People switching back and forth to different pools?  How do the mining blocks get allocated to all the different pools?  In other words, how does Kano get theirs when competing against the big pools?  How do you receive a reward and what for?

Just a lot to comprehend when your just starting out... all the different numbers and calculations overwhelming.  As long as I am hashing, and it shows all good on my miners and Kano workers I am good to go right?  Anything else I really need to pay attention to?

Thanks,

Pecker

Question to anyone with an S9 on Kano Pool: how much reward do you normally get for a block? Looking back over the history of the pool, it has gone up to 8 days without finding a block. Is the reward on par with the other pools in that timeframe?

There are 100s of posts asking the same question. If you go back about 25 pages and start reading you will find many case studies. Additionally, if the rewards were not on par with other pools do you think that we would be mining here? There is a reason we do. Unless of course we are morons and that could very well be the case. You can't see the forest through the trees. This is about the average over time. One week to the next has a lot of variance. Over time the variance flattens out and you will see that you will make more here than on pools such as slush and antpoo.

I'm not an expert but I did do some of my own analysis having mined on Kano and Slush. To me the numbers speak for themselves, it's Kano all the way. These are all based on past results but I put my money on Kano moving forward...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=789369.msg28131605#msg28131605

Maybe this will help and keep in mind I was calculating based on 3-13.5 Antminer S9's. Minergain.com is also a great source as well.

Many people at the start see the "constant" smaller payouts from slush and can see what they're making.   Only the few, the proud who can see the results on kano not coming in hourly/daily but over time...it's not even close.

MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN AND LET'S GENTLY UNWRAP THIS BLOCK!

For a real comparison, up to the point of our last block, if you were fully ramped up with an S9 from Dec 10 until the last block, you would of been making .002795 per day with the S9.  I know someone that had 11 on Nicehash, and they were making only .0020 per day per S9..  so you tell me.  what is better.

Antminer's reports of temp are NOT Celsius they are Fahrenheit.

Same for Awesome miner the temps are NOT Celsius....

Americans just don't get it....

ZERO Celsius = 32 F  (oopps yes I wrote 42 at first)

So when you boards are reporting 80C ....do you really think that they are 174F...are you mining in a bakery oven?

WELL, lets educate everyone.....
Awesome miner is in Deg C.  If you click on a miner, then you click on the summary tab on the bottom.  You will see a list and at the bottom is CHIP TEMP  79/74/79 Deg C   It actually has this!
If you click on the ASIC tab you will see  ASIC 0 1 and 2    you will also see a temperature listed like 68, 61, and 70 Deg C  This is THE BOARD temp

If you doubt that it is in Deg C - I have a Rapberry pi with a temp sensor monitoring the exhaust temp.  It is around 44 Deg C  Since 79 deg is Not Deg F ( IE Slightly above room temp) this is Deg C for absolute SURE!

Furthermore I can understand why people would not know, or think other wise.  I used to think the same, because there was no Deg C written on awesome miner before, it was just a number. an update fixed that.

ALSO if you think about computer electronics like GPU mining, 70 Deg C is not that hard to believe.  if that was Deg F,  then Why the F*!$ is my house getting so hot!  :-)

Summertime Planning:

I am wondering what inlet air temp people are running their S9's at during the summer and what the chip temps were if you were looking at it in that detiail last year during the summer months and if you were running air conditioning or if you didn't use any and how the S9's held up.   Basically I am wondering at what ambient or inlet air temp should I start worrying about the S9's crying for a slurpee?

My ambient is 22C (nighttime) to 35C (hottest day), hottest I've seen an S9 run is at 96C (on chip temp) so far.

Out of 10 machines that's the hottest one though.

Edit:
Air cooling only, current reported high temp is 31C, S9 #2 is reporting 96C
You'll need 2HP worth of airconditioning to cool 1 S9, probably isn't worth it Smiley

I have an old fridge :-)  Maybe I can put them in there  ahha  actually I joke, but I may actually do that to cool some air for the inlet. But I have 5 of them... they suck alot of air.  I will have  2x750 CFM fans helping them  so the air flow shouldnt be a problem, its just the temp rise.

So, i thought these stopped hashing at above 80 C  or is that 80 C on Board temp and they stop hashing?
I am a bit worried..  never had them in the summer yet.. I just know the fans will be at 6K rpm all the time :-)

The bonus is that most of the time our temps are between 28-32 C summer time with some days going as high as 38C  But VERY few  if that even happens.  I just want to plan for worst case scenario.  I will have a Raspberry pi monitoring all inlet and outlet temps, humidity, etc.  Still working on that project. ( With email alerts )

SO...  What you are saying... :-)   Its not going to be profitable after the ROI but you will make your money back in quick enough time and the rest is gravy.....  So  if its 500 a day, for  8 days, and progressively tapers off to 50 a day... and at 50 a day it is still higher than bitcoin.  Yes, risky move, but like when I got the call at 2 am, I was told if you get batch 1, great, if not, never look at it again.  12 second decision on this might be awesome, but it might be bad.  But I know one thing, I will at least get my money back, either by running it, or selling it to another sucker locally who knows less then me!

A 3 for sale, anyone interested ;-)  I will sell it for 7200 Cnd. It will be shipped to western Canada.  I will ship anywhere, you just pay for the shipping you want too!

If the D3 was so bad, why is it still for sale?
If the A 3 is an acronym for A nother 3 - we are all screwed.

What ever happened to bitcoin when S9's were introduced? or s7, s5?  etc...  bitcoin is still around, yes difficulty is higher, but the same people said the same thing about that too.

Why would any company spend so much on R&D for the A3 knowing that it will flop?  Doesnt make sense.  Better yet, why would that other company make and plan to release asic for blake2b later this year?   Oh becuase there is no market for it... right?

Hey kano,

short question for the management.  Grin

Are you running the pool all alone or is there any backup admin I didn't heard of yet? :-)

Maybe it's obvious but I like to know anyway.
I don't mind if you do all alone. I'm just curious about.

Thanks for making this super cool pool!!  Cool

I really like to get on our acclaim list!  Grin

MINE ON!!

Me, with all my alerts and alarms that wake me up whenever anything drastic happens - if I'm asleep Smiley
All the servers are managed and configured by me, in every aspect - there's more than 20 of them that are only for the pool, and others that have multiple uses.
Last year when I travelled around a bit I also made sure (when possible) that I had wifi on the planes so alerts and alarms would work there also.
Yeah you could say I'm rather attached to the pool Smiley

P.S. Yes I wanna get on the acclaim board also! I've never got on either, though my BDR is still under 0.8 after all this time.

That's so disheartening that you never found a block. When you were mining, how many TH/s did you have?

Kano knew that keeping his USB stick miner was likely not to solve a block..  BUT since he is so good at math, he figured out the probability with the current difficulty, and I believe it was somewhere around 14 years 3 months 6 days and 12 hours before his USB Stick miner solves a block.

Now that is dedication!  :-P

did anyone order through bitmain on the last s9 batch and see how the USD wire transfer worked??   Specifically how much time do they give you to transfer the money to them?  half hour? ahahah  Banks are closed!

Just so I know If I should do a BCH or USD wire to them if I have enough time, the exchange rates fluctuate so much its sometimes 200-250 more than straight USD sent to them.

Its gotta be more than a half hour for the USD though.

They say to finish payment within 7 days

Thanks,  I tried to get 4 last night, but eventually out of stock.    I would be paying the next day if USD, just to make sure its done fast.  My caclulations between exchanging for CND to BTC vs Cnd to USD was Better for me to do straight to USD since it was about 300 cnd more PER s9 if I paid in BTC.   part due to the exchange I was using and what bitmain uses as their exchange rate for BTC too.

Well, no S9's for me tonight....   Maybe one more Block can be found before I wake up...   :-)  Then I'll be a bit happier.

This is like a full time purchasing job to buy these.   I don't even know if their claim for being able to wire USD to them was a legit one because I never got to that point.  Was hopeful.

Oh well.

Blockabadoo I see you!

What was the pricing on S9's earlier? was it still 2320 USD paid in BCH?
I am going to try and get one more.  I just cant move money in fast enough into the exchange I use.  2000 per transaction, 4000 a day, but my bank has a 2500 a day limit  all cnd funds.  Sad

They haven't updated the iOS version yet? Latest android version allows fees so low the txn can get stuck.  How do I know that you ask?  Roll Eyes

I've read a few things regarding an update, but if they were rolling it out they sure have not rolled it out for iOS yet...

Sorry to hear about your stuck transaction. That actually brings up a question I've always had. When someone says a "stuck transaction", does that mean it will eventually confirm? Or does that mean your money is gone forever in limbo; committed to an address that will never receive it?

Just wait until there is no other transactions waiting and yours will be picked.  Only certain amount of transactions can be in a block, and the miners are picking the highest rewarded transactions.  So,  until the transaction count gets low enough that the low fee ones start being added.  I guess the transaction will be there for a long time.  Or if people start refusing to pay large transaction fees and everyone is picking a lower fee, then the playing field will be more even.

I should show my Raspberry pi project that I'm working on.  Its running sql, and cacti.  Graphing inlet and outlet temps of each miner, outside air and exhausted air humidity, outside air temps.  the building air temps to see if air should be diverted into the building or exhausted out.  Probably will get the Pi to control external fans as well and moniter the air temps and increase or slow them down as needed.   Ambitious project for a guy who knows nothing about scripting or programming.  BUT  I do know how to google, and cut and paste code.  haha   Its working pretty good, I have got a long way so far, more than i thought i would.

ALL data stuck in the little Raspberry pi on sql server.   That little bugger is pretty powerfull.
