183  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: TerraMiner IV, Worth it going forward? on: November 16, 2013, 01:47:50 PM
With Cointerra's 2 TH/S monster set to release in February (assuming on or almost on schedule) will this be the best play in the near future?

Even factoring a 500% increase in difficulty by mid-march 2014, you are still looking at $160 a day with Bitcoin at their current price in the $390 range.

It's clear to me that any lowly GH/S (even Avalon's) will be hopelessly obsolete if they aren't already.

Is this a viable option going forward? Yes, a lot of risk, but $3 GH/s can't be beat as far as I can see.

I'd appreciate useful feedback, and if anyone has any additional information on this, or about Cointerra & their reputation, warranty, replacement, customer service.

Thanks.

the 2TH/s is really too good to be true, but if you assume 2 months delay then we are in big trouble...

Did they deliver any products before and did they delay the shipment?

All the manufacturers are on 28nm at this point.  When do people think that the next generation will come out and how efficient do you think it will be?  I am thinking about buying a CoinTerra or HashFast rig because I think that the network difficulty rate will slow down after March when ASICminer, Butterfly Labs, Cointerra, KNC miner, HashFast, BlackArrow, and Biteminer have all released their 2nd generation ASICs, but I don't know how long I would have until the 3rd generation came out.  Thoughts?

probably 1-2 years.. each time a new generation come out the older generation tend to be almost useless Sad

194  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Block Erupter USB - ROI still possible on: November 16, 2013, 01:34:09 PM
Anybody that say ROI is possible must have either free electricity or forget about them...
If you bothered to read this thread, you would see that you are completely wrong.
And regardless of being wrong or not, it's still better when looking at a BE, just to buy the coins instead.

If you can get the block eruptors for a reasonable price, then it is better to mine. I realize that is a big "if", but simply saying that mining is not profitable is wrong.

That would be 1$ which no body is going to sell....
195  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it worth it to get back in? on: November 16, 2013, 01:33:00 PM
Hey everyone,

So I was running 2 HIS H785F2G2M Radeon HD 7850 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card a around 6 months ago.  I had to stop running them a few months ago when I moved, considering the house I moved to was not able to keep my room cold enough in this Texas heat.

I see the eruptor blades, the new bitfurys and that the usbs that are doing 333mhs went down in price.  Are there miners that aren't back ordered that are within a grand that are worth having.  Or what would you guys do for a setup if I was trying to get back into mining while the iron is hot, but for the least amount.

So if I had 250-500 to spend, or 500-1000 to spend, what would you guys suggest and what do you think on ROI?  After ROI I'm fine cause I would love to help the cause still.  Thanks!

Yes but get the 2 TH/s machine from cointerra instead...

I heard cointerra delay their shipment too... so it might not be a good deal?

What was the probability of litecoin or novacoin ever hitting $1 let alone bitcoin someday approaching $500??

You know those 2 coins that you mention is way above $1 right?..

Hello Friends,

Can you please take a look at this screenshot and tell me whether you think my 4 USB Eruptors are having too many HW errors?

Many thanks!

200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dummy plugs do not fit into R9 290 on: November 16, 2013, 01:27:18 PM
Check your motherboard, most motherboard have slot which you do not need dummy plug and some needed... So you should be able to run 2 with only 1 monitor....

Actually I do not want to hook up any monitor at all and control it using teamviewer.
My current motherboard is ASrock B75M-GL R2.0
How can I know if a motherboard will run the GPU without dummy plugs? Can anyone suggest a board (socket 1155) ?

Does anybody have any experience with using a HDMI dummy plug? I read some electronics forums where they talk about connecting HDMI pin 19 (hotplug) to pin 18 (+5V) but the stories are not consistent so I'm worried about frying my GPU if  try Sad

I am using GA-990FXA-UD3 which don't need any dummy plug to run 4 GPU.. I have no idea about socket 1155 hm...
