181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Ever Be Shutdown? on: March 14, 2018, 06:17:38 PM
Decentralized network like block chain is nearly impossible to shut down. Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Just because it is decentralized. No central authority, No central server , Bitcoin algorithm is running in thousands of computers.
If someone wants to shut it down, every computer must be shut down. Actually it is not possible.

But there is a small probability if one mining pool acquire more than 50% hash power.(Ghash got 51% of mining power recently. But they cut it down willingly)
If someone or a team has over 50% hash power  they can wage a denial-of-service attack against the entire Bitcoin network.  Undecided
Read here - https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2014/06/after-reaching-51-network-power-bitcoin-mining-pool-says-trust-us/

Block chain is safe and secure than any technology in the world.
Don't worry it will never be shut down..  Smiley
182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty and too many participants on: March 14, 2018, 05:40:52 PM
Yep.. Too many participants now.  Angry

Facebook and Twitter campaigns are crowded. They are less profitable now because of that.
Youtube, Reddit and Steemit is still profitable among social media bounty.

Article creation, blogging, signature  and translation bounties are still profitable.  Smiley

I have a friends who earned 20 Eth in 6 months  by doing bounties last year.
Sadly those time is gone.  Undecided

Some few new campaigns are limited to jr.member or above members and some few campaigns get limited participants
I think it is a good move..  Smiley

As a safety step do only more than 1M$ bounties.

183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why Airdrops??? on: March 14, 2018, 05:18:33 PM
I saw few newbies have asked in Altcoins section "Why airdrops?"
So i post this detailed explanation for all of them here..  Smiley

As far as i know there are few types of Airdrops and few intentions of them.

1. Before ICO Air drops

These are done before launching an ICO.
To get public awareness of the project, get telegram members , get Twitter followers , get likes for the Facebook page etc..

2. After ICO Airdrops  Smiley

Some projects airdrop their unsold tokens to ICO participants without burning them, to avoid decrease the number of total tokens. ( ex: SP8DE )
Some projects do this after a successful ICO in specific exchanges to attract traders. (Arckblock did this)

3. Totally Airdrop coins.  Cheesy

Some projects doesn't conduct a ICO instead they Airdrop the coin among general public or bitcointalk user.
Actually this is a very good strategy instead of ICO's because ICO's are hrdly getting successful these days and marketing a ICO is very expensive.
Twist coin( Twist.network ) is this type of coin and it is pretty amazing, now the price is 0.1$. They airdropped 85% of total tokens.

4. When doing a hard fork on existing block chain.  Roll Eyes

When a hard fork is done forked coin is Airdropped among original coin holder.
As a example when a hard fork of Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, gave current Bitcoin holders an equivalent amount of Bitcoin Cash.
MoneroV is upcoming airdrop and Hardfork in Monero block chain. Airdrop ratio 1 Monero : 10 MoneroV

5. Referral programs.  Angry

Those are very bad in my opinion. Some projects use give very little amount of coin to airdrop registrants an if they refer someone give more coins.
These are very aggressively used to pump up telegram members.
Ex;-Current media network became the largest telegram group using 4M$ airdrop and a referral program.

6. Scams  Angry

Most of the airdrops are scams for getting telegram users and email addresses. Don't do those airdrops.

184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hold NEO for long term or invest in good NEO based ICO? on: March 14, 2018, 03:49:52 PM
According to price projections in 2018 of NEO,it will hit 200$.(Most probably)
2* gain of course. (Now less than 80$).

Here a good projection - https://www.profitconfidential.com/cryptocurrency/neo/neo-price-prediction-2018-chinese-ethereum/

Holding will give you some NEO gas of course.

In overall you can get 100% percent profit  by end of the year by holding  Smiley

But as we all know good ICO's give at least 100% profit.
As NEO platform is not famous as Ethereum most of the ICO's in NEO are good ones. (No scams)

So if you participate 5 ICO's this year with the profits of previous ICO's (Assuming profit is 100%)
you will have 2*2*2*2*2  = 32 gain. (If everything goes well)

If everything goes well you can get 3200% gain by end of the year form ICO's   Cool

But ICO's are very risky. You should be careful.  Smiley

Effect.ai is a a very good upcoming ICO in NEO.

Choice is yours  Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How to trade any Ethereum based (ERC20) token not listed in any famous exchange on: March 14, 2018, 02:50:52 PM
Actually this is my reply to a question asked in altcoin section.
I thought it would be helpful to most of the newbies who are doing bounties  Smiley Smiley Smiley
So i post it here.

Decentralized exchanges let you trade most of the coins(tokens).  Smiley

IF the token is listed in a decentralized exchange use following sites.

1. IDEX - https://idex.market/
2. Etherdelta - https://etherdelta.com/

Using Etherdelta is not advised because of it had lot of security issues and down times in recent history.
Instead use forkdelta. Actually it is forked from etherdelta.

3. Forkdelta - https://forkdelta.github.io/

In some cases, some tokens are not in any exchange including decentralized ones. (Ex: Pindex-PDI is not yet in any exchange sadly)
Then we can use the smart contract of the token to trade. This method is very useful to buy some tokens very cheaply before they come to the market.   Cool

The procedure - How to trade any token using the smart contract address

1. Go to Ethplorer.io
2. Search the token you want to trade in search bar.
3. Get the smart contract address of it. (Contract address)
4. Go to the url - https://forkdelta.github.io/#!/trade/<contact address here>-ETH
5. Refresh page again.
6. Now you will find the order book. Place sell order or sell to a order already there. If you want to buy place a buy order.

Happy trading!   Smiley Smiley Smiley

188  Other / Meta / Re: Introduce a "Up vote & Down vote" system instead of the "Merit" system on: March 13, 2018, 02:44:33 PM
1.Most of the scammers who adopted earlier in to the Bitcointalk forum now has higher ranked accounts. They are not being punished by the merit system. Now may be they use their higher rank accounts to farm more accounts by giving smerits.

People giving sMerits to their own accounts are tagged by DT members upon complaining. There are threads for revealing such actions, and if you see any, you can report them their so that they can be tagged. And also, such actions wont last long as they will soon run out of Merits because of the fact that you get 1 sMerit for 2 Merits you get. So even if they keep exchanging them to each other, they will run out pretty soon.

2.I have seen lot of useless posts of higher rank members, which have been received lot of merits. (I think all of you must have noticed that.) .
Most of the people who have smerits give their smerits only to higher rank members (with the hope of getting merits back) without considering the quality of the post.
If you don't believe, Please check past posts of members with many merit points, you will find some of them have received hundreds of merits without sending at least one constructive post.

Again, if you see something suspicious, just report it. Just because some people are misusing the system, it doesn't mean the system is useless.

3. I've seen many very good posts by Jr.members which haven't received merits. Most people doesn't care about newbies and Jr.members because they have no smerits to give merit back.

It is not always about caring, but not all Merit carrying people can read all the constructive posts every day. I know that there are a lot of constructive posts that are not Merited, but that is only because of the crowd we have in the forum these days. Many constructive posts are not seen by most of the people because of the so many replies after them. Now people don't really open up all the pages to find the merit worthy posts and merit them, but they do it with the ones they come across.

5. There are telegram groups where people share their merits. If you don't believe please do some research.

Would you mind mentioning a few? We would really like to see the discussions happening in those groups.

6. 2 merits = 1 smerit rule is fundamentally slowing down the merit system.

It is not slowing it down, but it is preventing spammers from over-using the Merits they have got after the Merit distribution. If someone could get 1 sMerit for 1 Merit received, the system would have been totally useless as anyone could use even 1 Merit to rank up all his accounts by exchanging it between them again & again.

Some people present following arguments, which i couldn't accept, to support merit system.

1. Ranking up is not essential because Bitcointalk is not for doing signature campaigns. (So then why 80% of members do it??? The funny fact is some people tell that while doing a signature campaign.  Cheesy)

Signature campaigns are a bonus for users. As long as someone is not running 10 to 20 accounts joining so many signature campaigns to earn money, it is not a bad thing.

2. Post more posts then you will be rewarded. ( Most of us cannot post more than 3 good posts per day because we cannot be here all day.  Undecided)

It is not important to post too many posts to get Merits. Even if you post 3 to 5 posts  a day, then at least make them constructive enough to attract some readers. And even if 2 of your posts get Merited, you are done for the day.

My solution

1.Replacing the merit system with "Up vote & Down vote" or "Positive & Negative karma" system like in Reddit and Steemit will be the most wise decision.
2.Every member(or higher than jr.member) should be allowed to up vote or down vote a post or a reply.

Yeah! So that people with hundreds of accounts start spamming the threads with up & down votes as there are not limits on creating accounts on the forum and there should be restrictions for anyone as per your solution. I think there can be no better way of spoiling the forum than this.

5. Every good post will be rewarded.

Rewarded with useless up or down votes? That is exactly what will happen if a system like that is implemented where every single person (even a very fresh users with 0 posts and activity) is allowed to contribute. It will be an heck of a system for spammers to play around the forum. The forum will become the play-ground of spammers.

1. Anyone cannot log in to 100 accounts from one IP address.
2. I don't mention any telegram group because it is outside this forum. People have right to do anything outside this forum. But i know few.
3. The proposed system is not perfect. But it can make better by discussing.
4. We can allow voting to ranks higher than Jr.member or member.

190  Other / Meta / Introduce a "Up vote & Down vote" system instead of the "Merit" system on: March 13, 2018, 01:48:47 PM
Merit system was introduced with a good purpose; For get rid of spammers and account farmers.

The intention is noble but i think the merit system is not as good as it should be.
I present following facts to support my argument and correct me if i am wrong.  Smiley

My argument

1.Most of the scammers who adopted earlier in to the Bitcointalk forum now has higher ranked accounts. They are not being punished by the merit system. Now may be they use their higher rank accounts to farm more accounts by giving smerits.

2.I have seen lot of useless posts of higher rank members, which have been received lot of merits. (I think all of you must have noticed that.) .

3. I've seen many very good posts by Jr.members which haven't received merits. Most people doesn't care about newbies and Jr.members because they have no smerits to give merit back.
4. Even if someone post a very good post or a reply if it is not get noticed by a person who gives merits by considering the qulity of the post, the post is not rewarded. ( Some forums are not get noticed well)
5. There are telegram groups where people share their merits. If you don't believe please do some research.
6. 2 merits = 1 smerit rule is fundamentally slowing down the merit system.

Some people present following arguments, which i couldn't accept, to support merit system.

1. Ranking up is not essential because Bitcointalk is not for doing signature campaigns. (So then why 80% of members do it??? The funny fact is some people tell that while doing a signature campaign.  Cheesy)

My solution

1.Replacing the merit system with "Up vote & Down vote" or "Positive & Negative karma" system like in Reddit and Steemit will be the most wise decision.
2.Every member(or higher than jr.member) should be allowed to up vote or down vote a post or a reply.
3.Ranking up should be based on total votes (up votes - down votes = total votes) a member received.
3.Up voters and down voters should be visible to every one.
4.People who up voting useless posts (By spammers) should be noticed.
5.Number of Total up votes and down votes a person have per day should be limited.
6.Voting shouldn't be allowed in bounty threads.

Advantages

1. Every one can participate.
2. Even if a spammer or a account farmer up voted a post other people can down vote it. So total votes will be based on majority. Spamming will be harder.
3. Very fair. Every person can get up votes by posting good posts and get their rank up.
4. Spammers can be identified.
5. Every good post will be rewarded.

Note

Please correct me where i am wrong.  Smiley

Edited

Looks like most of the people don't like the idea. Some of the experienced members have pointed out faults in the proposed system. Thanks to them.  Smiley

I just wanted to create a meaningful discussion because i felt the current system is not doing well.
It seems majority of active members and experienced members like the merit system.  Smiley

Thank you all for feedback.  Smiley

191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will other coins beat bitcoin in the future? on: March 13, 2018, 06:26:33 AM
Oh.. Yes. Wink

BTC is getting really slow and very costly in transactions.
It's getting really bad day by day because BTC can only handle 7 transaction per second which is not enough.

So one day some coins will pass BTC in market cap.(Coins like Ethereum)  Cheesy

False news..
MEW work perfectly and i used it a while ago. It has never make me disappointed.  Cool

I saw similar posts with in 2 or 3 days.MEW is the best online Eth wallet out there.I don't know why people doubted it.  Embarrassed
193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty or Airdrop? on: March 13, 2018, 06:00:43 AM
Definetly, bounty.. Grin Grin Grin

Most of the airdrops are scams and referral based ones.. You cannot earn decent money from most of the airdrops.  Embarrassed

Most of the bounty campaigns are profitable.. but social media bounty is not profitable anymore. Signature ,Article writing and translation bounties will help you to earn some decent money.  Cool

Happy bounty hunting.. cheers..  Wink Wink Wink Wink
194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who uses myetherwallet? on: March 11, 2018, 08:07:33 PM
I do.  Smiley

It is essential for bounties and in trading. Yes it is not safe as a hardware wallet. So don't store all your money in MEW. (Don't put all your eggs in one basket)
But MEW is very safe when you use it with meta mask extension.
You are perfectly safe if you don't enter your private key or key store file in a phishing MyEtherWallet. Use EtherAdressLookup chrome extention to be safe from phishing attempts  Grin

Simply MEW is the best online ERC20 wallet out there.  Cool
I never had any problem with it.  Cheesy
195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still support Ethereum? on: March 11, 2018, 07:50:14 PM
I can't name any other coin/token, which failed more times than ETH. It's not about loving or hating it, it's all about people losing money, because of situations which can be avoided. I would care less if these ETH based projects were not asking money from the masses, but that's not the case. And believe me when I'm saying that Ethereum has some powerful lobbyists. Otherwise its price would be probably 1/5 from the current one.

Didn't we had enough of this?

I really couldn't understand your point sir..  Huh

Yes people lose money because of some scam ICO's and unwise investments. Anyone doesn't force people to invest money in ICO's. Before anyone invest their valuable money in a ICO they definitely should read the white paper, go to git hub and check the code , check whether the ICO has a good team and advisors and vise versa.

Ethereum is does not responsible for stupidity of people. No 1 rule in ICO's research before invest. I have invested in few ICO's but i never loose a penny. Because didn't invest in useless tokens.

Ethereum is a platform as we all know. Anyone can create any decentralized applications on it not only new tokens (I my self have created some DApps.). There are some Ethereum based projects which do not have any ICO's.

I personally believe Eth is better than Bitcoin. Bitcoin is day by day getting laggy and transactions getting expensive. BTC is not suitable for day to day use as it can handle only 7 transaction per second. Please refer this about Bitcoin scalability problem - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin_scalability_problem.

I personally believe Ethereum is way better than Bitcoin. Ethereum is the best way to integrate crypto in to real world and that is what new tokens should do.  Roll Eyes

I don't believe Eth has this price  only because of  lobbyists.(Then anyone can argue BTC has 10000$ orive because it is the first Cryptocurrency.) Eth has this price because of it's capabilities.  Cool

Finally i would say we shouldn't blame Ethereum but stupid investors. Let useless ICO's pop but don't invest on them...  Smiley

200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Holding is bullshit? on: March 10, 2018, 09:18:50 AM
Holding utility coins is bullshit because of  most of the utility coins have no utility at all  Grin Grin Grin Most of them are just fund raising programs with no vision or meaningful utility in real world. People buy them in ICO only to sell them in public sale for gain profit.
But holding platform coins and currency coins makes profit. As a example, NEO could be buy around 0.2$ in 2017 and now it is around 100$. 500* profit.
Hold platform coins but not utility coins  Smiley Smiley Smiley
