181  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: New Pool: Triplemining.com || 0.5 BTC jackpot every day special || on: July 05, 2011, 02:25:19 PM
I get around 1.8% stales at TripleMining. I usually get 2.0% - 2.5% stales at other pools, so it is an improvement, even if I'm not as lucky as you guys Cheesy

184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Namecoin mining nearly as profitable as Bitcoin mining now on: July 05, 2011, 12:46:31 PM
Mining NMC and exchanging immediately for BTC at this time is indeed counterproductive, but mining and holding at the current (easy) difficulty makes sense if you expect prices to continue recovering.
Prices will drop after the next difficulty decrease, as people will realize that Namecoin miners are being paid twice as much as Bitcoin miners and will therefore be willing to pay less per Namecoin. Investing in Namecoins is not reasonable at this moment.

It's my suspicion that having 'one' Bitcoin in the same range as the USD, esp. when it is 1.5 to 1 usd, it will be more approachable to the common man. Of course decimal placement doesn't matter mathematically, but we're talking about psychology here.
Yes, because the "common man" is American!

Of course! That's why aliens keep attacking the US and UFO's only crash in America.
Yeah, I feel so left out. I wanna get in on some of that probing action I hear all you Americans talking about.
188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GOD CREATED BITCOINS! A NEW SCIENTIFIC STUDY DONE BY ME. on: July 05, 2011, 03:33:32 AM
It does! If Satoshi is God, then it is very likely that the rest of the Japanese people are angels. Therefore they should be treated with reverence. Quick, send all your bitcoins to the first Japanese person you find!

I'm sure I have some Japanese heritage way, way, waaaay back, so feel free to send every single of your bitcoins to 1DL843BYqaKfDj2KY4jsKrJjyEoMMrsAie !
189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GOD CREATED BITCOINS! A NEW SCIENTIFIC STUDY DONE BY ME. on: July 05, 2011, 03:30:26 AM
There's one big thing you're missing here - the real identity of Satoshi is unknown. Satoshi is, in fact, God.

This leads to the conclusion that God is Japanese. Interesting.

thanks for the quick reply, I see what the calc is doing now. it has a small range for what it estimates the diffulty would currently be if it were to adjust in real time.  I'm a lil lost on your math though, how did you come to the 268?
a - (b % c)

a = amount of blocks in a difficulty period

b = current block

c = amount of blocks in a difficulty period

% = modulus (remainder of a division)

You start by calculating b % c, which is 1 748. This is the amount of blocks currently found in the current difficulty period.

Then you calculate a - 1 748, which equals 268.

oh hey look, relegated to a forum no one visits
Why shouldn't it be moved to the appropriate forum? This thread isn't discussing bitcoin.
193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: good bitcoin article on Gizmodo on: July 05, 2011, 12:24:21 AM
It's not identical to the old layout, but everything works the exact same way. What exactly is it you don't like about the layout when you've switched to the blog view?

The way it shoves everything into a narrow column in the center of my browser window.
They have succeeded in simulating watching 4:3 content on a HDTV... with webpages.

No biggie... they don't really want me reading anyway.

Uh, take a look at the old layout:

The difference isn't that big. The difference isn't that they've shoved everything into a narrow column, the difference is that they've removed the unnecessary elements on the side. Do you really need to be reminded who is the editor-in-chief on every page?

Things haven't been crammed together. In fact, there is slightly more reading space than there was before. People are just way too conservative and nostalgic for their own good.
194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: good bitcoin article on Gizmodo on: July 05, 2011, 12:06:35 AM
Are people really too stupid to switch to the blog view here? It's done with the click of a single button.
I clicked it and and it still wraps it up in some kind of crap-fest design... is there a secret button that restores the old layout?

I'd expect more out of the Bitcoin community :/
196  Economy / Services / Re: Paying 0.05 BTC to try Firefox extension on: July 04, 2011, 11:14:01 PM
I actually think they should make the ability to one-click toggle toolbars on and off part of FF.
CTRL + Revelant Function key, found in View -> Toolbars
197  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: New Pool: Triplemining.com || 0.5 BTC jackpot every day special || on: July 04, 2011, 11:00:15 PM
One question, i want to try this pool and I have two 5870's at 410 MH/s each one.
It is better if i register two workers under my account or i register one of them as a worker, and another account for the other card?
What's the difference?
Thanks
It's better to register two accounts. You'll get referral earnings from one of them.
198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was just gonna set up a couple CPU's to mine, and find out about the price drop. on: July 04, 2011, 09:35:15 PM
Difficulty follows price. If the price goes down, so will difficulty, as people will be less willing to mine at lower prices, meaning you will get more bitcoins. The price doesn't matter.
199  Other / Off-topic / Re: Excuse me, but there's a bloodbath going on! on: July 04, 2011, 09:23:57 PM
No, because every time you point out "facts", it's just a bunch of doomsaying BS. You've predicted the doom of bitcoins dozens of times - but bitcoin is still here, and it hasn't crashed. If you're so convinced everything will go to hell, why are you still here?

Really, I'm not sure whether you're a troll or an idiot at this point. It's a fine line.
200  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Should I solo or pool (6 Ghash) on: July 04, 2011, 09:07:48 PM
Definitely a pool. If you decide to go solo, you may never see a single bitcoin in your wallet.
