181  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: (Ordinals) BRC-20 needs to be removed on: March 19, 2024, 02:40:20 AM
why? what is your reasoning behind this statement

Hear me out: Ordinals on Lightning.

No of course they're different. One is a L2 solution for moving around BTC and the other is a L1 solution for moving around satoshis of artificial importance.

Hey honestly it seems like a great way to solve the problem when you read it but its not that simple. There will be some sort of bug fix on this, eventually, in probably a couple of years time or something as the demand for ordinals increases etc. I am honeslty so pissed that I didn't get set up sooner and get in on that ordinals rune airdrop. Those flipping ordinals are starting at a floor price of like 4k, its just stupid. I feel stupid for having talked about doing it for so long and still yet again not following my better judgment and following through with it. Ugh. Need to get in on it. If anyone wants to drop me some runes send it to your boy tread93 lmao here is my ordinals addy   Cheesy  that I literally just made because I put it off for so long: bc1pz89d7xccj2klp4fw8777g9yhfg56cv8sgqn5jl0gcwhuzfepgjds09y3cs    Cool Cool
182  Economy / Economics / Re: Food security might not be a priority for younger generations. (2) on: March 18, 2024, 03:38:48 AM
*Reposting this topic from my post in other forum.

There is a huge possibility of younger or new generations adopting cryptocurrency investments compared to them getting interests on farming and food related sectors. What do you think? Does it have a good or bad effects on our economy?

I hope that people will start to open their eyes and see what happens when you let corporations choose what goes into the food supply. It just makes me sick the kind of things they get away with in the USA - I can only hope that we could take our eyes off of greed and look ahead towards the green. There is nothing greener about growth! Execpt for aping a fat bag but you know what I mean on those gainz. I sure do hope that these youngsters will wise up!!!
183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Blackrock control BTC? on: March 18, 2024, 03:35:26 AM
They literally don't have control in the network of Bitcoin however they can manipulate the market since they have huge holdings that can be used in advantage to them either they wanted to buy more or they just want to make profit from their hefty investments. These institutions see Bitcoin to be the best and profitable asset compared to maybe other investments available around that is why they are jumping into it.

Remember it isn't Blackrock's money. They aren't making profit from ETF directly. They are only making profit from charging fees for the ETF. The money in the ETF is clients money.

People keep acting like the Blackrock ETF is Blackrock's money and they can do whatever they want with it to try to manipulate the market lol. Some of ya'll need to look up what an ETF is. None of this is Blackrock money. They just buy and sell based on the buying and selling of their clients. They are simply a middleman for clients who want access to bitcoin as an investment. Say it with me: "THIS IS NOT BLACKROCK'S MONEY" lol

Some of you would be so much less worried about irrelevant things if you learned some basic stuff before you started worrying.

Blackrock has no control over the Bitcoin network because that simply is not how Bitcoin works, and they aren't even buying any of the Bitcoin in their ETF because that's not how ETFs work. Stop worrying over nothing.

I think perhaps the poster who was concerned maybe saw the new influence that Blackrock is pumping into BTC such as the new job listings they have posted, among others, for "bitcoin core developers" Although this is just a hunch but I could be wrong .I also agree with you I think a lot of people are confused and most are truely unsure of what an ETF even is lol.
184  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the dip people!!! Could be last chance for prices this low on: March 18, 2024, 03:32:41 AM
Bitcoin is currently undergoing a correction back to the $60,000s. Around $68k now, got down to $66k.

This is the time to buy before the bull run really gets going. This MIGHT be the lowest it gets. While a deeper fall during this correction, or another correction in the near future, is certainly possible, this might also be as low as it gets. After the near future, the only time it might get this low again is in like two years on the next bear market, and these prices may be the bottom of the bear market.

So anyone who has money sitting on the sidelines and who wants to buy Bitcoin, today is gonna likely be one of the lowest days we're gonna see for at least the next 18-24 months, and maybe forever! Buy!

I love the energy and the confidence! This is honestly the best outlook to have so good on you OP. I sure hope you're right. We're all rooting for BITCOIN!!! LFG!!! I want to see the longest bull run in Bitcoin History here. I think we are off to a great start!
185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimon Compares Bitcoin to Smoking on: March 18, 2024, 03:25:06 AM
https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/currencies/bitcoin-price-rally-jamie-dimon-record-high-cryptocurrency-smoking-fraud-2024-3

I am actually never against the people who doubt bitcoin as everyone can have an opinion but making this statement with current situation is really funny for me. Hope you will also have a good laugh with this news.

Kind of ridicuous, I am convinced that he just does this all for the headlines. It is all a chess match to him and IMO he is just trying to fan the flames for the goverments to impose higher taxes on BTC like we are seeing right now with Biden's 30% energy tax on miners the proposed plan would be a huge blow to crypto in the states. I like how bullish this press is if you keep reading your article link down towards the end here is the quote: " A clampdown is unlikely. Instead, bullish analysts expect bitcoin to keep rising from here, with some estimates seeing the token reach as far as $200,000 by 2025."
186  Economy / Collectibles / StackChain Magazine 3rd Print-Halving Edition! Comes with Genesis BTC Card Pack on: March 18, 2024, 03:15:29 AM
Hi Everyone,

We have a really cool magazine/trading cards combo here while they still have these in stock! This is supposed to be a limited print and also each issue comes with a booster pack of BTC TC cards!

They are probably going to sell out of this fairly soon I am on a discord and everyone is talking about it! I'm not sure if anyone on here has heard of stackchain-magazine but this 3rd issue showcasing the upcoming halving looks dope!

The cover is also one of the BTC TC cards in the "Genesis" series. I believe these are the same guys who created "Fud Busters" which I would love to get my hands on some of those cards actually, but besides the point!

Here is a link to get your copy of the magazine while they still have some left in stock: https://proofofink.com/product/stackchain-magazine-stack-3-halving-edition/  Availability: 94 in stock

Here is the link to the cards: https://btc-tc.com/

I also saw this collaboration on their website which also looked like a fun and informative playing deck of BTC cards: https://proofofink.com/product/bitcoin-playing-cards-3rd-edition/

Cheers,

189  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: March 17, 2024, 04:29:38 AM
~snip~
That is true. Elections are about to start by next month in India. Almost a billion voters will take part in it. Then we have elections in the United States and Russia. In Bangladesh elections were completed two months back. Indonesia had elections last month, so was the case with Pakistan. In short, most of the world's population (where there is democracy) will be participating in the electoral process in 2024. And I am excluding China, because they don't have any elections. All that said, most important one obviously is POTUS election of 2024.

I think every election is somewhat important, and yes, the US is clearly the most talked about and probably the one with most consequences in the future.

It's interesting to see people from all around the world making bets on these things. Personally I find it a bit strange. I feel like elections should not be used for gambling, but anyway, I think nowadays everything is "gambleable"

Hmmm you're right people will really bet on anything huh? Maybe we should switch the bet to betting on which nationstate will be successful in a cyber attack to change all the votes the night before in whatever direction they want??? haha  Now wouldn't that be hilarious. Of course if they are communist China they will have Biden stay, but Russia perhaps might want Trump in, but it seems russia has even taken a turn  they said they would want Biden to stay in office in the next election. LOL
190  Economy / Gambling / Re: My betting strategies on: March 17, 2024, 04:24:20 AM

Well this thread is... useless.  Grin

Everybody is looking at all of these things OP mentioned automatically.
Nobody who is choosing a team to bet on does that because they like their name or whatever, of course they will check the table, important missing players and the h2h history.

What's even more important than these 3 things imo is the recent history.
What good is a top tier position if they lost the last 5 games and the opponent which is below them just won 5 in a row, some of them against good teams.
That's why the recent history is in my eyes the most important thing to check. A "bad" team might just have signed new players that significantly improve their roster. Or some injured players just came back and because of that they had a lot of success recently.

Not really a betting strategy .

Lol. Yes they would definitely be checking these things already. This is good insight, for someone that isn't much of a club better I think that just simply checking the recent history is the best indicator for which direction a team would go in any match of course also referencing the other important metrics you mentioned as well. I may have to place a futbol bet soon! Who are you going with next?!
191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Crypo Casino Virtual Scatch Offs - Idea on: March 17, 2024, 04:17:19 AM
Since I started talking about scratch off cards  yesterday I had this idea about a virtual crypto scratch off card and wondered if anyone has done something like that? They could be called like VSOs or something for "Virtual Scratch Offs"

I think that would be such a fun idea to incorporate in an online casino, have a section where you take a real world good like a scatch off card,
and you make it a digital version that you can buy ones for like $1 worth of BTC or like ones for $2 etc etc.

Would people like to play that? How hard would it be to replicate those odds in a virtual environment? What kinds of limitations or possibilities are there here?

How many online crypto gambling casinos are there? Does any one of them employ a virtual scratch off ticket game?
192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Simple mistake that makes you lose everything on: March 17, 2024, 04:11:59 AM
I always have this kind of mistake before way back when I’m still inexperienced gambler. A simple mistake such as not placing a bet on a round that result to massive win just because my screen glitch makes me tilted that resulted to lose focus and bust all my bankroll quickly due to risky bets.

There’s some instances that I’m already winning big on blackjack then one of my bet is a pair of 10 which I accidentally double down instead of stand while I place huge bet triggers me a lot that result to terrible loss.

I’m sure many players here experience this kind of minor mistakes that resulted to terrible outcome. Share your story and let’s have fun hearing it. I hope there’s no BS story…

I'm sorry to hear about this "screen glitch" that you have. It may be time for a new screen? Or maybe a new device alltogether. If its causing you to lose your whole bankroll than that would be a liability, and you should definitely fix that if you can help it. I hope that you can figure it out and that you have good fortune ahead!
193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Scratch Offs on: March 17, 2024, 04:05:38 AM
First, congrats on your strategic scratch-off game wins—you've mastered mini-wins! Scratch-offs are their own world, right? You've felt the suspense and brief exhilaration of winning, even a dollar. The thrill, chance, and hope that this next ticket is the big one are all important.

In response to your question on the biggest scratch-off win, lets talk big, beautiful numbers. Records show people winning millions from tickets costing less than a nice lunch. Scratch-offs make wealth accessible with just a few dollars and a coin to scratch away the silver coating, which is their appeal.

Im getting analytical here, but it becomes interesting. Odds are carefully calculated. These games fuel that hope and keep you coming back. It exploits humans' desire for rapid gratification and easy victory. Scratch-offs are an interesting study of hope, chance, and sometimes the relentless search of luck.

Thanks m8! That was fun to read. I will say that it was definitely fun to win even to break even, but when I went in today to cash in the winning ticket of course I got another random scratch off ticket and lost, I should have stayed with the same flavor of ticket and I probably would have won! haha. I'm curious what those carefully calculated odds are. And I wonder what the best ticket class is to get the highest dollar amount winner, for instance the $1 ticket, $2 ticket, $5 ticket yields upwards of what figure in the top 10% winning tickets on average?  I would be curious to know that information.  I'm not really interested to keep going back for more, but I am considering cashing in some of my change to fund a few more ticket purchases in pursuit of this lucky ticker! I have a good feeling about this that I will eventually find an extremely good prize ticket one day soon  Cool
194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Scratch Offs on: March 16, 2024, 03:15:10 AM

Here is a fun question: What is the most you have ever won off of a scratch off ticket? What brand ticket was it?

Lucky you, it was just local but unfortunately, I haven't had that luck that you have. But from time to time me and my wife if we see some outlets that sell of scratch off tickets, we call it here ScratchIt.

Not bad though, at least you might have found some new games to enjoy, or maybe this is what we call beginner's luck? So just be careful with it, as you might fall for that trap and go back to that gas station very often even if you filled your gas tank already. Grin

Yes ours is the Florida Lotteryand other scratch off names so they have so many differnt kinds of stuff as far as scratch off goes, I want to say at a typical gas station here there are 30 varieties or more!!! Pretty wild stuff lol.

@op, I wouldn’t mind you giving some details how the scratch off games works and a little advice that you shouldn’t make the gas station your new home as that possibly might lead to addiction 😎

Definitely going to have to agree with both of you, I won't be going back very often to buy more scatch offs because I don't want to become addicted. I think what I will be doing from now on though is that I will save all of my change and use the spare change I find to pay for any more scratch offs! Typically I just go with the $1 ones. But maybe I shhould go for 2 .
195  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Paper Betting- Would You Consider it if you Were to Start Sports betting Again on: March 16, 2024, 03:07:48 AM
If you were to restart sports betting again, would consider learning first by betting on paper. This involves selecting 1 to 2 games daily and tracking the outcomes of your picks without wagering real money on a sportsbookie platform.
Quote
Paper betting refers to participating in sports gambling without fronting any money. The idea is to learn the ropes without actually risking real money.
https://www.bettingsite.org/blog/paper-sports-betting-what-is-it-what-are-the-advantages-11569/
It is just like demo trading. Would do it if you were to begin sports betting again or jump right straight into the real thing?
[/quote
I would ideally learn to gamble first with a dummy account that would place the bets just the same as paper money but on an app or something to get my bearings on the bets. Its really cool to hear that you can reduce your odds of losing just by being a little bit more responsible with strategy and learning the ropes.
196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe in gambling experts predictions? on: March 16, 2024, 02:58:07 AM
There is no 100% guarantee in gambling. I believe that the predictions or tips that some experts make are just for reference and sometimes this can help, at least some people. I don't believe that there can be any expert in gambling who knows everything and can be 100% correct, I respect them, but I believe that there is no type of strategy that's unique and that can always guarantee victory every time we bet.

You're right though there are some people who win in gambling using their tips that's if luck is on their side, because as gambling is concern I don't think if their is any expert prediction in gambling. gambling itself sometimes is unpredictable,I have visited different websites for tips and whenever time I make use of this tips, I always lose money.so in this case I think there is no expert prediction.

Expert prediction is kind of the same thing as saying you're a really good fake magician lol. A lot of times I feel like some of these folks just improvise or they claim they are going with their "gut feeling" , I guess it all depends on the who what when and where and mix some luck in as well. I don't think anything in gambling is a sure thing by any means. There is always some unexpected change that coudl take place at any time to alter the results of the bet, so you really have to be careful with these things.
197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Scratch Offs on: March 16, 2024, 02:53:18 AM
So while we are on the discussion and topic of gambling, I wonder if there has every been a scratch off ticket thread?

I was at the gas station today and I said screw it lets get two $1 scratch of tix because why not.

The first one was a flop, but the second one was a winner! I won one lol Just $1. Whoopty doo lol

So I used that winner ticket to go and buy another ticket, and guess what!? The same thing happened again and I won one lol.

I am going to go back tomorrow and get another one and see what happens and keep you guys posted!

Here is a fun question: What is the most you have ever won off of a scratch off ticket? What brand ticket was it?
198  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Man bet his life savings on 1 spin of Roulette on: March 16, 2024, 02:50:02 AM
Surf on Twitter (X) and then find this video,
where a man makes a bet at the Roulette table using all his saved money.
It looks crazy and people warn him, but with that tension he gets his bet.

https://twitter.com/InternetH0F/status/1767704657055375493

He was very lucky and won the Bet.
But this is very risky.

It's about 50/50 odds, and he's in luck.
I myself have even done this silly thing but with little money.
LOL, there is no way I use all the money for gambling bets.
But I lost at every opportunity, so I stopped at losing.

Some such betting videos or experiences that really depend on luck,
makes us think whether we are that lucky or not.
Because many become unlucky gambling addicts with sad endings.

I saw this on social media recently it has been getting a lot of attention lately. I remember thinking how crazy stupid lucky that guy is. He could have just as easily had lost everything he had saved for his whole life! How fortunate he is to have won, but how foolish it would have been if he had lost. This guy has some serious balls lol
199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can somebody make a successful career in gambling on: March 16, 2024, 02:47:04 AM
In my opinion, the only people who are into gambling and make money are the casino owners, the casino employees and the owners of YouTube and Twitch channels. as streamers are paid by casinos to keep playing so they can make a living from gambling, this is because they have a base of many followers on their channels and are very well paid, and those channels of theirs have become a very serious business, they they are the only players who can afford to make a living from gambling due to their channels and they don't play much with money from their pockets, that money that they are paid by the casinos, I believe they use to buy houses, make business in the real world

It is very different from the cases of people who keep playing without having any sponsorship from a casino, they play using money from their pocket, in this case the person will not be able to live off gambling games, in gambling games there is no bet in each bet. guarantee of victory, and even when the person is successful in a bet, in another bet the person loses, then the person loses again and in this way it becomes very obvious that the person will not be able to make a living from gambling, while in a job the person knows that at the end of the month there is a salary. In a well-managed business, the person knows that at the end of the month they have a certain amount of profit that they can use to pay their bills.

The living ancestors from the indian tribes in the US are making some dang good money having been granted the casino licenses. I couldn't agree with you more though the only folks that are making the really good money are the people/groups that actually own the casinos. The folks who go play at the casinos, unless you are filthy rich can't make a living off doing that "the house always wins" pretty much rings true everywhere you go, although I guess there is definitely sheer dumb luck involved.
200  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Question of Casascius Value (this perticular coin) on: March 12, 2024, 03:53:42 AM
Thank You. Any idea of Value? Be a shame to redeem it even with the flaw, feel it should be be worth more than face value.

It would be sweet if you still got this graded through PCGS- I imagine that it would still grade pretty decent even dispite this gouge as the coin still has great luster and eye appeal it seems even though I see a tiny amount of toning and some really small milk spots. The back is also in great condition and the holo appears to be placed on very well and centered and little to no damage. You could perhaps have it sold in auction with someone's help and just place a reserve price on it that would seem reasonable I guess. As far as the value you could get for something like that its hard to say.
