I am not sure if you are the same as 'banksworstfear.com' but you very much remind me of them, as you both are in very similar situations

Found out about them yesterday while searching for information about Reddit bans.

Interestingly enough his site was also running ad free as mine is... yet CCN and CoinDesk which have lots of ads, have their articles on Reddit Bitcoin every day. Just because it comes from a bigger user base, means they should be able to make money off it?
182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Bitcoin Website Banned From Reddit on: October 24, 2014, 02:09:13 PM
I honestly think reddit has a crap ton of admins that can all do what they want and are not accountable for what / who they ban. Reddit just trusts the mods

Yes, they trust the mods with full power to permanently ban sites.

Check this out, the creator of quickmeme.com got to be a mod on Reddit, making $1.6 million a month from Reddit, and used bots to down-vote other meme generator sites:

http://www.dailydot.com/news/reddit-bans-quickmeme-vote-manipulation/

And then other sites like the Atlantic and Gawker have paid off moderators to have their content posted/promoted.

This is far more egregious than submitting too many articles about Bitcoin to r/Bitcoin.
183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Bitcoin Website Banned From Reddit on: October 24, 2014, 02:05:11 PM
How about you stop posting the same shit about your ban every few weeks?

How often do people have to explain to you that reddit doesn't accept that you pay people to post and spam the forum with links to your website?

It's not my site. Did you even read the initial post? I did not even know there was a post about this guy's site already.

My site is http://BitcoinPriceLive.com which was also banned from Reddit. They even went as far to block my IP and MAC address, in addition to a permanent URL ban.

CoinDesk and CCN which run with tons of ads are allowed to submit their articles every day there, but because they have a bigger base of users do it, it's no problem. The front page has 2 CoinDesk articles right now, and 1 CCN article.

Smaller sites which are running ad free are getting PERMANENTLY banned, for submitting articles about Bitcoin to r/Bitcoin.
184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $5000 per coin will never happen if PoW mining is allowed to continue on: October 24, 2014, 07:26:40 AM
$500 million a year is not that much when you compare to something like Apple corporation which has a value over $600 billion.

I thin when the block reward halves it will make a big difference, as the difficulty will also be much higher by then.
185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When explaining Bitcoin to someone, what are some key points to speak about? on: October 24, 2014, 07:08:43 AM
Bitcoin has value because:

1) it's scarce
2) it's useful

If they talk about Beanie Babies, you can explain that Beanie Babies were scarce, but they were not useful.
186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Bitcoin Website Banned From Reddit on: October 24, 2014, 06:20:08 AM
This looks a lot like another attempt of banksworst fear of trying to get their domain unblocked from reddit so their domain will increase in value.

I have seen a number of these accusations of reddit "censoring' them, however all of these claims involve the site blatantly breaking reddits rules in order to make their sub-reddit look more trafficed then it really is

Submitting an article about Bitcoin to r/Bitcoin is considered spam by Reddit. They have an extremely narrow definition of what is spam.

Good luck reading only CoinDesk articles on there then  Tongue

BanksWorstFear was running ad free... my website http://BitcoinPriceLive.com was also ad free. We were not making any money from posting.

The main point is that many people are ONLY going to reddit bitcoin to get news, and it's heavily censored to favor certain sites.
187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on Facebook on: October 24, 2014, 06:01:53 AM
Has Mark Zuckerberg ever commented on Bitcoin before?

It seems strange to me I have never heard him publicly comment one way or another. He must be aware of Bitcoin right?

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=mark+zuckerberg+bitcoin

Says he spoke about it in Hungary, but when you go to that link it is just some guy mentioning that Zuckerberg said Bitcoin in the translation.

So what did he say about Bitcoin?

190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Another Bitcoin Website Banned From Reddit on: October 23, 2014, 05:53:51 PM
Not just my site that got blocked...

Here is another story of another Bitcoin website that got blocked from Reddit:

http://banksworstfear.com/bitcoin-site-banned-need-decentralized-open-source-reddit/

Yet, everybody will still continue to get their bitcoin news from their no matter how censored it gets.
191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: High Litecoin Volume On Chinese Exchanges Remains Mystery on: October 22, 2014, 06:41:46 PM
On BitcoinWisdom, 30 day volume of Bitcoin on Chinese exchanges is:

6.9 million

For Litecoin it is:

197 million

There are about 13 million Bitcoins in circulation right now, so 50% with Bitcoin. There are 32.5 million Litecoins so that's over 600%.

Can somebody at least answer why the Litecoin volume is so much higher on a % basis than in Bitcoin?

These numbers look normal to everyone?
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: High Litecoin Volume On Chinese Exchanges Remains Mystery on: October 22, 2014, 02:13:52 PM
No trading fees alone cannot explain this much volume.

Why not? BTCChina had no fees for Bitcoin trading last year and the volume was huge, but it dropped like a rock when they introduced fees.

If it was a couple hundred thousand coins then maybe, but 10,000,000 Litecoins a day on OKCoin?

So there's basically just bots trading hundreds of thousands of coins an hour? Who runs the bots?
193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on Facebook on: October 22, 2014, 02:11:26 PM
Facebook already has code in place to add payments to Messenger:

http://seekingalpha.com/article/2543165-update-code-discovered-reveals-a-new-possible-direction-for-facebook

I think it may be pretty soon that they integrate Bitcoin.
194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / High Litecoin Volume On Chinese Exchanges Remains Mystery on: October 22, 2014, 11:12:42 AM
The Litecoin volume on OKCoin and other Chinese exchanges are very high.

Does anybody know the reason for so much volume? No trading fees alone cannot explain this much volume.

For example, on OKCoin there is often more than 10 million Litecoins trading hands a day... but there are only 32.5 million Litecoins in circulation!

This could only be true if there were something other than market forces responsible for Reddit's success.  They are regulated by their market, just like all of the rest of us.

Reddit has created the most powerful sharing platform in the world... that does not mean they are operating it optimally though.

Their policies change without notice... we were sharing for over a month on there with no problems; our articles usually got some upvotes.

Reddit permanently banned my URL, but said I could still do paid advertising with them. How does that make any sense to you?
196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reddit Bitcoin Centralizes All Bitcoin News on: October 16, 2014, 09:53:20 PM

However, this doesn't mean that you can violate reddit's spam rules and complain when they ban you, as is their clearly stated policy.

You then double broke the rules buying alt accounts and trying to spam further?

Seriously, have you even read the rules of the site?  It sounds to me as if you still haven't, despite all this.

Yes, we broke the rules by posting our own articles there... I guess Coin Desk only has their readers post their articles there, and nobody from Coin Desk has ever themselves submitted an article.

As I wrote, we never received a warning that we violated any rules. My account was banned while I had paid ads as well running on the site. I had no idea the rules were so strict there.

We only bought a Reddit account off Fiverr to verify that our URL is indeed blocked. AND my IP address and any IP associated with me is also blocked. Not sure what the danger was in buying a Reddit account when our URL was already permanently blocked?

We never once got a complaint from Reddit Bitcoin. It was a top level moderator who banned us and knew nothing about Bitcoin.

Read about Reddit bans, many people get permanently banned because they disagree with some random moderator.

What I am hearing here is a big entitlement mentality - you feel entitled to have Reddit (a private entity) treat you "fairly" (in your opinion of fair).  You feel entitled to get readers and make a site, even though you really don't know how to do so.  You feel entitled to build your site with assistance from other sites - at the expense of them having to limit themselves and not take actions that they feel are in their own best interest.

How is Reddit limited by my site? If I submit an article about Bitcoin to the Bitcoin sub-reddit I fail to see who was hurt.

Like I said, if it is a poor article it will get down votes, and not many people will see it. Why do you need a moderator to tell you what to read there?

And I admit I have no idea how to create a Bitcoin news site. That is what I am trying to figure out.

The problem for my site is we have no clue how to get traffic without Reddit... I am open to suggestions.

How are you doing at retaining the readers you already have?

Pretty decent... through our other social networks like the FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube, etc.

For example, we have 7 subscribers to our mailing list... sick brag yea

How do you know that most people only go to Reddit for bitcoin news? Because your site lost a ton of traffic after being banned? Could easily be because your site is new and people were mainly aware of it from the links posted on Reddit.

Go visit Reddit Bitcoin right now. There 1,097 people there now, and 138,773 "readers". Please show me any other place that is remotely close.

We know this information from talking to other news sites, and asking many people who have said they only check Reddit Bitcoin for news.

We setup a Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Youtube... we do get some traffic from these. However, it is trivial compared to Reddit.

No, I have no idea how other news sites are getting lots of users. What I can say is that if you site is allowed to post on Reddit it is a HUGE advantage in the Bitcoin space.

For other topics, Reddit is not so important.
200  Bitcoin / Electrum / Website To Host Public Wallet on: October 16, 2014, 07:26:40 PM
Hello, would it be fine with Electrum developers if there was a website which hosted a public wallet, showing QR and 12-word pass phrase?

The wallet would hold 1 bitcoin, and the idea would be to see if anybody can hack it.
