We have had our mess ups but I believe they're all ironed out now. You can read up on them at http://www.darkcointalk.org main discussion thread, look for "birth of darkcoin" people use the f* up in the beginning to spread fear uncertainty and "d" What's "d"? so with this hardfork approaching, do i just download the new wallet as of the 15th from the main darkcoin website, install and move my wallet file across?
also, i'm not a hardcore trader or anything so charts dont mean too much to me, what's looking like the current floor, somewhere around 0.0056/57 maybe?
i bought a few more at .0059 and have little btc left to buy any more now if it drops any further.
Download from here: https://darkcointalk.org/threads/rc2-hard-fork-on-may-14th.357/page-4#post-3344Your choices are: Open Source, ready to compile, but without DarkSend. Only knows the new rules for paying Masternodes. pre-compiled (binaries) of the above or pre-compiled binaries with DarkSend. I just don't know if the official website has been updated yet? On second thought, go here to Evan's last post, I don't know if that link above has the latest links! He's been so busy, he may have forgotten! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg6659428#msg6659428

I still can't figure this out and would appreciate any help: after the blockchain stopped syncing randomly (it was working for a while) I re-installed darkcoin-qt and all of my addresses except for one dissapeared, and with it hundreds of darkcoin. Anyone know what happened or how I can get them back? I had less than 10 addresses
Do you have a backup of the wallet from when you had that balance? Try listaddressgroupings in the console to look at the hidden addresses of the wallet. Thank you for helping! I do have multiple backups. Listaddressgroupings is only showing my one address that is working properly and nothing else. I still can't figure this out and would appreciate any help: after the blockchain stopped syncing randomly (it was working for a while) I re-installed darkcoin-qt and all of my addresses except for one dissapeared, and with it hundreds of darkcoin. I have this sitting here, trying to think of what to say and how to help. I guess a good question would be, can you remember when those coins first came into your wallet? Was that one of the newer transactions or one of the older transactions? This address that is working properly (XiPahZ3EhtvDhbF3hS6KwnqMu68vgFRcG9", 87.69900461) is old and has been receiving drk since 3/19 just fine and is still working fine, the rest of my addresses are gone. My large transfer to the wallet was recent, and I haven't ever sent any drk OUT of the wallet and none are showing as missing or transferred out. It really sounds to me like you may have an old backup there. Though even an old backup should carry 100 addresses in reserve... but anyway, I'd do as suggested above and find any wallet.dat file you can, check them one at a time and mark them for what you found. I sure hope you find your coins!! (fingers crossed!)

The latest release of wallet and MNsupply will be working on RC2 or will new update come again?
We have had to update our wallets due to bug fixes since May 1st, but it is still considered RC2. We may have many updates (but at the moment only one fork) in the near future. However, regular updates to the wallet should not be such a big deal and shouldn't be terribly time sensitive.

Hard Fork on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 What does this mean ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) It means that there is a fundamental change to the system (the wallet) that makes it so that everyone must update for it to work. If they do not update, then the wallet will create a "fork" in the blockchain. One fork will be considered valid, the other not. If you did not join with the majority of the wallets, any mining, selling, etc... you try to do would not work with the rest of the system. In this way, the people have to agree to update/change their wallets, or else, a fork can never happen. Therefore, unless a majority of the people want to change and to follow a developer down a road, they can stop it from happening. So why is Darkcoin forking? Darkcoin is forking because our developer has implemented a portion of the plan for this coin that everyone wants and has been waiting for. He gave us 2 weeks warning and it is massively unlikely that any darkcoin wallet holders would not want to follow in implementing this change as it brings a feature that defines this coin closer to full implementation. That feature is DarkSend, and this portion implements the paying of masternodes, which process the DarkSend transactions. I hope that was a good explanation, but my mind is a bit muddled, LOL, and I'm not sure I did a good job ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

guys...Do you think that in the 14th the price will rise up to the MOON ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) no, I think it will slowly go up and down a bit and over-all rise up as interest and recognition increase. I don't think there will be any quick moon trips ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

from reading comments on darkcointalk.org, I finally realized how to check and see if your masternode is running all right. grab a copy of your debug.log in your /.darkcoind file and find a section that shows all the masternodes. Find your masternode and it's corresponding number (position on the list) It seems if you stay connected, you keep your position on the list. Now open a search and search for "winner your-number", like "winner 14" and if you've been elected a winner, your masternode is functioning! I found one of my masternodes won 6 times, and the other won 2 times, so there can be great variance ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

No it's very unlikely*. That was a debate 600 pages ago... The masternodes are owned by different users, on different servers, in different countries. The process is such that a single person or a single entity can't possess all the knowledge, unless it owns every masternodes, not the majority, everything. But then it would be pointless, since it would have to possess all coins (expensive) to track its own transactions. That's the decentralization by Darkcoin ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) I was told in my earpiece that there is more to come. *Edit ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) Yawn.... yah, that ^^^ Very good!

10 I wouldn't call here, 1000 I would say here but limited. Thanks for the answer.
Now, it I were a super hacker, can darksend be "cracked" in some way?
I know most of you that hold a bunch will just say whatever. But believe me, others that come to this community to research this coin want to know this too. Reading through the whole thread is not only time consuming, but it is much more informative to ask directly. Thanks again guys. Great coin!!!!
I'll stick my neck out on what we currently have, and say that cracking the privacy of a transaction would be very difficult if you use several layers of mixing. I know Evan just came up with something new again, so Darkcoin may change a lot from this current iteration. To crack a darksend transaction, you would have to have an incredible proportion of the network, and control so many masternodes that at 5 levels of mixing, you always retain control of the information. You'd need way more than 50% of the masternodes, and if you were buying up coins for so many masternodes, the price would skyrocket. I don't think I am explaining this very well, others have talked about this in the thread, but my tummy is full, and I'm about to fall asleep... sorry!

Enthusiasm and community are "features" just like any tech one, they all come into play when it comes to value
Hopefully now you will see it. The dogecoin community is just weird. You can't really say that a community is a feature. I think it's an important feature, and the fact that they're weird totally endears them to my heart! Unfortunately, I'm not a part of that community, can only handle one thread, LOL, but they seem awesome! We're a pretty serious and low key group, but a friendly and helpful group too in my opinion. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I don't think we need one united, undivided all singular coin any more than we need a single world government. However, it is invariably so that only a few coins will become truly standard and useful. I hope Darkcoin will be at the top of that list, of course, LOL.

finally figured it out ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) For some reason the MN list is showing the public IP broadcasted by my home router, it's not showing the elastic IP of the EC2 instance. Any idea why this is happening? When setting this up, did you start darkcoind normally on your remote computer? IE: ./darkcoind ? When starting your local server, did you start it with the masternode=ip:9999 then unlock the wallet, then start masternode - all on the local wallet? Does your remote configure have your ip address in the right spot? Finally, do both wallet config files have masternode=1 in them and the proper needed ip address "addnode=25.25.XXX.XXX"? Those are the main things I can think of???

Only thing that saddens me is I didn't buy more, esp when it dipped to .0025 for a bit recently.
Well, looks like you're all on your own there. Everybody else here got all the DRKs they wanted with absolutely no regrets at all. In fact I feel like I got too many. Why do you feel like this? I have a lot (more than all other altcoins combined), yet I feel like I need/want more. Oh, he's just showing off! I think he needs a Mother's Day spanking as well, come here Tim! ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

Yes, the older coin design is prettier, but the proposed new one would fit with the website 1000% better and would look way more professional. Other sites can use the old color, and perhaps other pages - maybe the old one is best for press releases. But I like the current official page colors, and this proposed update to the coin. Thanks raze, it's been bothering me too!
I'm pretty curious, where do you see a lack of professionalism with the actual coin design ? The blue makes something look more professional ? That's only a matter of personal taste at this point. No, the current coin, with the decided upon website colors and layout, etc... don't match. That's the issue ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Old = purpley blue, the new color sky blue. It is mixed together as well as it can be but it still bothers me. Must have bothered raze too. http://www.darkcoin.io/

nope, waited all through the night and still doesnt show up in the remote server list, only in the local QT wallet. Doesn't it need to show up in the remote server list to be valid? or is the local QT wallet good enough?
my elastic IP for the remote server is 54.186.164.9 if it helps
I don't see your IP in the list. ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) Did you start the masternode on your local QT too ? Yeah, i started darkcoind on remote server, then started QT wallet locally with 'darkcoin-qt -masternodeaddr=54.186.164.9 :9999then unlocked wallet then enter masternode start, says "successfully started masternode then enter masternode list and shows my IP at the bottom of the list but IP never shows in masternode list on remote server Are you sure that you have to specify the port ? Try without it. i think it's needed because without the port, it says "not capable masternode" when i try to start it Did you give it a half an hour? The local node where you started the masternode may know before everyone else, but it sometimes takes up to 30 minutes to show up (time between pings) Also make sure you have your ip address in your remote config file: # change change_this_to_your_ec2_public_ip_ami_public_ip to public ip address which you connected by ssh externalip= change_this_to_your_ec2_public_ip_ami_public_ip

Well, looks like you're all on your own there. Everybody else here got all the DRKs they wanted with absolutely no regrets at all. In fact I feel like I got too many. Isn't that the truth. I, for one, have yet to make my first trading mistake. Raspberries to you!! ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) LOL I made, for me, a very costly mistake, which taught me a harsh lesson! And to bring myself back up to my previous coins, I had to buy WAY higher (waiting on cash to arrive, etc...) For other people, it's not that much money (about $100 lost) but heck, it hurt me enough for me never to screw around like that again, LOL. We have no discretionary funds. So watch it, or I'll spank you!!! It's mother's dat and that's what we do to snotty kids!!! ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
