181  Other / Meta / Re: Using offsite images instead of posting as text. on: May 29, 2014, 10:29:53 AM
I'm against this because of a completely different reason: content does NOT show up in a search, neither internally nor in Google.

What's the point of gathering information in a forum when no one is able to find it?
182  Other / Meta / Re: Custom avatars don't working now? on: May 29, 2014, 10:25:07 AM
I think it's a bit embarrassing that this seems to be the only forum (that I know of) without avatars.

I think people are tired of HEATING their houses during the summer, mine X11 and save power in 2 ways, less to power the cards and less AC needed.

Surely happens, but not THAT fast, it's more a continuous process.

The POW phase of XC ended last night and it was 10x more profitable then mining DRK at that moment. Now the XC price has tripled since then.

If you want paranoia look at the XC hashrate graph.

http://liteshack.com/?coin=xc

Good point, I didn't know about XC. Doesn't explain doubling the hash-rate completely, but helps to understand it.

And thanks for the link!

Out of nowhere unknown (big) pools and hash-rate doubling to 190 GH/s in just one day...if I would plan an attack I would it do right after a long announced fork  Shocked

Keep dancing honey... I have all the time in the world  Cheesy

Finally i found we're you're hiding sonysasankan! That crap coin of PINKCOIN is from you?

Would you two please just STFU?

Crypto-currencies are _still_ something very new, and to make them succeed we have _all_ to work together.

It doesn't matter whether your coin is from Europe, Pink, Dark or whatnot. If we fight everyone loses.

And no coin EVER succeeded because someone talked the competition down.

If you want to succeed, be better than the competition. Or even better work together (Doge getting help from the Digibyte guys is a nice example. Or pools helping each other after forks).

Grow up.

BOTH of you!

100ERC from staking? You must be a millionaire! Also in top ten in: http://explorer.europe-coin.com/toprich, are you?

Not a millionaire, but I'm in the upper half of that list, yes.

And I started mining when ERC was launched, so staking started early for me.

Having a doge market is not bad at all.

Smiley

Wow, such true  Grin

Actually, no matter whether people like Doge or not, the Doge community does one thing 100% right: they use their coins instead of herding them in the hope to get rich. Where else do you get money for a good (or just funny) posting?

That's also why I like (and respect) your attempt in creating an ERC shop in this early state of ERC...a currency only has a future when people start using it in real life.

The currencies which are traded only will all slowly die after some months of jump and dump.

Sorry to say this so blunt, but you're the first coin dev who is THAT dumb to announce another coin in his main coin thread.

Just when people start to focus in your coin you try to distract them... Roll Eyes

Where's the facepalm-smiley when you need it most?

Delete your postings as long as there are not TOO much replies, and start a new thread.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Dead serious!
Focus your advertising to ONE SINGLE product. Marketing basics. Just ask a professional of your choice. Better hire one (not me  Smiley ), it will be money VERY well invested.

Are you ERC holder? why so does this hurts you?

It doesn't hurt me, and you don't have to listen to me. All I want you to do is ask someone you trust with some marketing background, get your ass slapped by him or her and do it right.

And YES, I'm in the top 50 of the ERC holders.

That's why I care.

Please explain  better why should 4C go against ERC itself.
ms that ERC users disagree..

It does not go AGAINST ERC, it distracts from it.

It's like placing a car advertising in the middle of a laundry detergent ad.

[...] We took a source and modified almost everything but this "scam code" was found just before the launch. You would have joined either if scam code? [...]

How can we know if an issues come randomly?
The source we were based had a big hidden code inside that  WE DON't WANT TO USE, and discovered just after generating genesis hash.

And if you know that a coin out there has this kind of stuff in their code you would yell at scam for the rest of your life!

LAUNCH IS POSTPONED AT LEAST OF 6 HOURS!

You know after these statements you MUST disclose what original codebase you did use (with github link) and show precisely the coding segments where this happens for the community to verify.
Should be a 5 minute job for you to post the info. Preferably before the next launch.

And, YES, I certainly will have a closer look into that.

Oh, and a SCAM warning with the name of the coins with this codebase would also be in place. Doesn't need to be here in this thread.

[...] We are switching all Mining Pool Hub's payout system from PROP to PPLNS [...]

While you look at this could you please have a deeper look into your share/payout system?

I think there's something really weird going on with your pool.

  • When I look at the "Round" page, most people have zero shares but get paid according to their PROP share.
That's already unusual because I sometimes have dozens of rounds without any share listed for my account, but I get paid because I obviously have some.
  • Last night I found a block, the blockfinder stats say it was worth 12 DRK.
When I look at ALL possible found blocks with an amount of 12 DRK I should have at least ONE share for one of them because I have found it, right?
But in this case all of those blocks say I have 0 shares. How can I find a block without a share?

PS: I'm, talking about the PROP system, maybe your change to PPLNS fixed this...

Well I know what it means.

0 Shares doesn't mean that you have submitted zero share.
It's actually 0.1215 like things.

Did you see the difficulty at miners reporting?
You will usually see 0.01 ~ 0.16 shares submitted.
Even at the top, You will usually see A:0 since it only shows decimal number.

Our pool don't tweak share difficulty value but just show what each miners submitted.
Other pool shows multiplying like 65536 to original difficulty value but it may result some confusion from what miner saying and what pool is saying.

We will consider showing float number for exact share.
Don't worry, your share is well calculated.

Your explanation makes sense, thanks.

I see the (pool-) difficulty only when a change is reported, in the accepted log-line it's still always 0.

Maybe I'll have a look into the phm-sgminer code, WU is already reported as float, so it shouldn't be too hard to do this for A and R as well.

What do you mean that it doesn't report assigned difficulty?
I am also using the same miner.
I can see the difficulty like "Accepted 09bb8886 Diff 0.103/0.020 GPU 0".
0.020 is the difficulty assigned.

Are you using the same workername for several miner rigs? You'd better separate each of them.

If it doesn't help, please tell me your username. I will look through it.

In most cases (there are rare exceptions) it reports "Accepted 288whatever Diff -0.000/-0.000 GPU 0 at Pool 0"

Edit: Just tested the compiled version from the official Darkcoin homepage.
This one reports "Accepted 26000000 Diff 0/0 GPU 0 at (null)" And ALL accepted shares of this one have 6 trailing zeros...

One problem and one question about your Darkcoin pool:

- every other minute or so I get the message "Waiting for work to be available from pools.", immediately followed by a "Work available from pools, resuming", no matter which of your servers I use.

What miner and what version are you using?
I have never heard this behaviour yet.

Tell me more about it. your hashrate, and difficulty.

phm-sgminer, commit 7678db6801977c71a4106e5d8107a4976ab5c8ff (the one before Marucoin was added), self built for Win7 and Win8.1.

Hashrate reported at your pool is about 23 MHs/sec, all rigs run at very conservative settings, no HW errors.

This version of phm-sgminer does not report the assigned difficulty, but the worker details at your pool say 0.03.

looking at reviews a lot of people have problems on DRKpool.com, if you already checked the spam folder you should try with a different email address for registering
fuck the same problem! for each nick i set a new e-mail-address - the side said it's o.k. so far and published, that i should confirm through what is sent to my e-mail-address
but it never appeared there - not even in the spam-folder

Same here, tried several email addresses, checked the SPAM folders, send a message via the contact form...for a kinda "official" pool it really sucks a lot   Roll Eyes
198  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What if a block can NEVER be found? on: May 01, 2014, 05:09:49 PM
You don't need to worry about this.  If you feel a need to be worried about something, there are far more dangerous things that can happen that are far more likely to happen.

That's a very valid point.

Thanks a lot guys and girls for all the information. You rule  Cool
199  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What if a block can NEVER be found? on: May 01, 2014, 12:35:50 PM
The Merkle root can be changed by changing which transactions are included in the block and by changing the coinbase transaction.
- snip -

This is the main reason that a block will always be found.  The miner (or mining pool) is allowed to choose which transactions the include in the block. By changing the choice of transactions in the block, or the order of those transactions, there will always be enough variation for a valid block to be found.

Ah, I remember reading somewhere that pools prefer to pick transactions with fees, so this is possible.
Thanks for this information.

But is this actually done? Especially done when, for a too long time, no block was found?

Of course this reduces the possibility of such a block even more, but as long as the possibility is not zero I personally would still worry about this.
200  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / What if a block can NEVER be found? on: May 01, 2014, 09:54:49 AM
Disclaimer: I'm a complete crypto-currency noob, and besides doing some alt-coin mining for 3 months now I never had the slightest idea what's behind all this.

Not until I've read Satoshi's whitepaper last week.

After letting it settle for some days, and a closer look into the algorithm and source code, I think I might have found a problem which _could_ have serious implications.

I barely scrapped the surface of this all, so if you think I'm wrong either because I'm just dumb or lacking some knowledge feel free to say so, and preferably point me to additional information/papers for further reading.
Most probably someone else has already pointed this out years ago and I just could not find that information.

Anyway, from what I have read a block header is the hash of the version, previous block, Merkle root, time stamp, difficulty (short VPMTD+N because I don't want to write this again  Grin ) and a variable nonce chosen in a way that the resulting hash has the needed number of leading zero bits to fulfill the difficulty criterion.

Since VPMTD is fixed for a given block and SHA256 is a deterministic function the number of possible hashes is finite because the number of nonces is finite (uint32_t possibilities), in other words not all _possible_ hashes exist, just a finite subset.

Therefore it _could_ be that for this given finite set of inputs there is no hash which has the required number of leading zero bits.

VERY improbable, but not impossible.

In this case there would be no next block and the complete block-chain would come to a halt.
So would Bitcoin and a multimillion crypto economy.

Or is (what I would do) there already some heuristic which detects an unusual long block-time (e.g. longer than the difficulty re-target time) and changes the input (if I remember correctly there are some padding bits which could be abused for this, or just change the difficulty which is also part of the hash) to prevent this?

Or am I just the next noob who asks this dumb question?

A curious mind....
