Is it something else thats making the screen go to the lines?? its like a bunch of vertical likes sometimes then other times its just a solid grey or white screen. is that the GPUs crashing?
I'm not saying it's the case but could have damaged your GPU, especially if voltage was too high. Do you have another computer to install it to and test it on? Try to uninstall the drivers from Add/Remove (Program Features) if possible.

I win. Nice. What clocks?
|
|
|
What program did you use? What OS?
If Windows, try to boot into safe mode (F8) and see if you can change the settings there. If not, try to uninstall the overclocking tool. You can also try to use AMD GPU Clock Tool to set things back to stock.

I've heard that the 7xxx series is coming out this year so when it does come out any idea how much of a drop in price the 6xxx series will get?
Well it's tough to say. I'll give you an example. When the 5850s first came out, they were limited in stock due to the fab process or something of that nature. They were pretty cheap at the start (around $280 or so) but when I got around to buying one, I had to end up shelling $360 instead because of demand>supply. Having that said, it's hard to gauge what sort of price drop we can expect if demand is still driving high, especially if the 7xxx is bad at mining (and things are pointing that to be the case). I think you can expect 20-50 drop in price that may or may not shoot back up as per the demand. It's all speculation at this point.

They will drop from time to time but usually the significant drops happen when demand is low and/or when the next gen cards are close to coming out (i.e. clearing inventory for them). So unless one or the other is close to happening, the prices will stay relatively the same, aside from some sales.

make popcorn on the heatsink ?
Haha pretty much. I'm almost think I could craft a poop chute for the popcorn to fly out into a bowl

Weird. I never had problems like that when I ran poclbm. Do you have more than one GPU?

I am able to get around 408 at 970 but my VRMs run too hot (since I have to up the voltage a bit). I have an old Twin Turbo (non-pro) in place of stock cooling but the stock ref plate isn't very efficient for the VRMs.

Well by reboot is one of the ways I can reproduce it. Sometimes it can occur at random and/or when I shut down the miner and restart but not always. I went to sleep late last night, for example, and it was jumping around between 386-391. Now I wake up and it's pushing out 404.9 Mhash pretty consistently. I thought maybe it's just a display bug that occurs with GUIMiner or something but my pools reflect the change do. When it's pushing 404, my estimated is infact higher and I've seen some wide variance in my shares as a result.

I am trying to figure out what I am missing here because I cannot seem to gain overall control of my hash rate at any given moment.
The basic rundown is this: Let's say I've got a 5850 and it's overclocked to 960/mem 300. I've had it reach and stay steady around 407 Mhash/sec. Nice and dandy. A few hours later or a reboot later and this will change (slips to 380-390Mhash/sec) and I didn't change anything, at all. Cards not throttling, temps all in-line as per the norm. I run with performance settings (i.e. no aero, etc) so it can't be that. I thought maybe it could be the browser being open but it can't be since I'm not watching videos, have hardware acceleration turned off and I've seen it run plenty of times while browsing at around the top speed mentioned. I'll leave the computer for a couple of hours and it'll be back at top speed again. I'll use the computer again, just fine without much effect to hashrate (aside from temporary blips if I change to a graphic heavy website).
I'm running phoenix and I'm not sure. I'm beginning to think the GPU has a mind of it's own... that it likes to warm up before heading into full sprint (despite what GPU utilization says (99%)).
Using phoenix miner / phatk.
Any ideas?

They pay to 8 decimals, or at least they did a couple of days ago when I requested payment.

I've been able to hit 394 Mhash with 930/300 @ 1.137v. GPU temps in at 72 (I rigged an old Twin Turbo on it with dual 120mm fans). Phoenix phatk with the usual settings and worksize 256 / aggression 13. Also that 3% performance improvement edit (also disabled most of Windows 7 performance visuals). Only thing that prevents me going higher is VRM temps at 97-105c. I know they are rated for higher than that but I don't feel comfortable with testing my luck.

Bottom line is that most people, as some have mentioned, don't really have this purported (or at least intended) "life savings" you speak of. Aside of that, it's craziness to dump everything into one thing of value. It's best to diversify. But just to play along with your question, I'd have to think that first Bitcoin would need to be something that is relatively wide in adoption.
If I were to pour all of my "money" or "assets" into Bitcoin, would I be able to buy groceries of varying sorts in my city? Would I be able to buy gas in my area and the places I travel? Etc etc etc.
Until that scale of adoption occurs, dumping in and strictly holding to Bitcoins and away from any and all other currency / assets of value, is illogical.

If anyone has suggestions for a Canadian datacenter I would put a node up there.
Guess one would need the gauge the need (I don't know the stats); I was just attempting to switch my load over to EU but for whatever reason, I can't connect. I tried to tracert and everything was fine, so I'm not sure. At any rate, if you feel that the growth warrants another node and you are looking at Canada, you can check the following two: http://www.caneris.com/ - Heard nothing but good things about them http://www.broadlinenetworks.com - another popular company Both companies have their services out of 151 Front Street in Toronto, which is pretty much is the main Canadian peering exchange location. I'm not positive on West Coast services, so maybe someone else can chime in on that.

Win7 64
GUIMiner / phoenix phatk
5850 @ 920/300
My mhash tends to fly all over the place but from what I can gather:
Before: 365-379 After: 360-388

I have no issue connecting to eu.mtred.com Are you using the right port number 8337 ? If not specified the default port of 8332 is used, which would not be able to connect.
Yea, pretty sure. Went over all the settings. I'm in Canada, maybe it's my ISP or something. I'll need to track it a bit further and see.
