that means the lightning network it is clearly dependent on the bitcoin network and also i would say, that both networks have an impact on each other. i agree with the last part, that no one is force to use neither networks (some say people in el salvador are now force to use it, but that is another topic)
Lightning is an “off-chain” layer and doesn’t impact the Bitcoin blockchain/the base layer. just because it is called "off-chain" doesn't mean it doesn't impact bitcoin the base layer, if you think about it, you have to do at least two transactions for every channel (okay maybe one if you count channels you will "never" close), but my point is: it impacts the base layer, cause lightning needs a base layer and using it means that there is an impact / influence, whatever you want to call it - or are we takling about two different things here? |

Well, the thing here is, I really do not care how others would deal with their Bitcoins. If they HODL it then go ahead, let them be. I will not interfere nor tell them not to do it. Let them sell it, let them hold it, let them give it away to their girlfriends. You should not be forcing your opinions to the others if that is what they want and if that is what they need to do with their Bitcoins, after all of the factors that they can consider, it gave them that decision to do so on their coins then by all means.

Das mit der neuen Foren Software ist so ein Ding für sich - also ich sehe da keinen Erfolg in naher Zukunft.
Via E-Mail antworten wird nicht gehen, du kriegst die E-Mail ja von einer "noreply"-Mailadresse, die darauf ja schon hinweist.
Du bekommst per Mail aber einen Direktlink, der dich zu den neuen Antworten direkt weiterleitet (ähnlich wie beim Telegram-Bot) und dort kannst du dann ja direkt, sofern du eingeloggt bist, antworten.
ja, ist eigentlich wie ein telegram bot jetzt  Aber vielleicht hast du ja bei diesem Thread schon auf "notify" gedrückt - in dem Fall siehst du es dann ja selbst jetzt.  ich glaub ich hatte schon eingestellt in den einstellungen dass da wo ich schon was gepostet habe automatisch benachrichtig werde Zu 1.: Laut Boardregeln ist es eigl zu vermeiden, so genannte Doppelposts abzugeben. Falls möglich also immer alles mit der Edit-Funktion erledigen. Man sieht aber auch ab und zu zwei Posts hintereinander von dem gleichen User, allerdings liegt zwischen diesen dann ein größerer Zeitraum dazwischen (Tage, Wochen, Monate..) - Dann wird meistens ein Auge zugedrückt denke ich.. (bitte steinige mich nicht mole!!!!  ) Ich kann da einfach nochmal die allgemeine Foren-Etikette zitieren, die du außerdem hier findest -> Bitcointalk-Guide: FAQ & Foren-Etikette - 01/2019:

mist, ich hoffe mir wird vergeben... Zu 2.:Das Vorhaben könnte schwierig werden, da ja im Sekundentakt neue Beiträge entstehen und du dann die meiste Zeit diese stummschalten müsstest. Du kannst es wie du selbst schon herausgefunden hast auf bestimmte Bereiche/Boards begrenzen oder aber direkt unter "Show unread posts since last visit" die andere Funktion "Show new replies to your posts" nutzen.
Das begrenzt es nämlich auf Threads bei denen du selbst etwas gepostet hast. Das finde ich persönlich übersichtlicher und begrenzt es automatisch im Nachhinein auf Themen, die mich interessieren.
ja denke der zweite link ist in ordnung, vielleicht dachte ich gerade jetzt am anfang, dass noch nich so viel los ist (weil ich noch nicht in vielen themen beteiligt bin, aber ist vermutlich besser die themen durch das klicken auf notify oder dem teilnehmen zu "abonnieren" danke vielmals! |

It's different from a view of selling your bitcoins at the highest possible rate that it can ever be than never to sell your bitcoins. What's the purpose of holding bitcoin if you're never going to sell it? I agree with you. It doesn't make much sense in that regard that you should never sell your Bitcoin, but I too believe investors will definitely take profits from our investment. There will come a point in time when you will want to have a form of satisfaction from what you have invested in over a period of years so you must sell some of your bitcoin at some point. also if you earn in bitcoin and spend in bitcoin and don't have any fiat left it is pretty stupid to not "sell" bitcoin... |

The other party would very likely close the channel forcefully after some time. It would be possible because channel participants constantly sign new commitment transactions which can be used to settle the balance on-chain once a certain timelock has passed.
is the period of that timelock every time a new commitment is broadcastet updated? so it is a moving timeframe? and that timeframe will be set in stone with the opening transaction on the base layer, is that correct? |

Dafür heißt es jetzt erstmal selbst Merits verdienen und für den Härtetest dann anhäufen. welcher härtetest? was bringen einem die merits denn genau? oder war das ironisch gemeint? Im Endeffekt dienen Merits dafür, gute und informative Beiträge zu belohnen. also ist es sowas wie: wer hat den längsten? Kurze Erläuterung zum Punkt meines Härtetest:
Ich hab in der Vergangenheit gern die ein oder andere ruhige Minute genutzt und meine vorhandenen Merits auf einmal verteilt. Dabei habe ich mich in den verschiedenen Boards rumgetrieben und nach guten und nach "nicht Merit-gewürdigten" Beiträgen geschaut.
Dabei hatte ich dann natürlich jede Menge Tabs offen und ohne das Script hat sich bei der Merit-Vergabe nochmal jedes mal ein weiteres Fenster geöffnet.
Das Script ist somit kein richtiger Gamechanger oder sonstiges aber sicherlich ein nettes, hilfreiches Tool.

As such I don't have anything against the Lightning Network. But even with 4.5 years of experience in the field of cryptocurrency, I found it really hard to operate. That said, I would agree that the Lightning Network is an awesome innovation, as it enables users to send their coins with minimal fees, and get instant confirmations. But user friendliness also matters. No matter how much advanced an innovation is, as long as ordinary people can't use it, for me it is worthless. Setting up payment channels and all can be quite hard.

I concur seems to be a valid response, but my "me too" was just deleted by a moderator, why? the question of the op was in other words: is lightning good and what are your thougs and my answer is like AGD said: lightning is awesomeSome mods take censorship more serious than others. Some think that short postings don't add anything to the topic. So instead of just agreeing with one or two words you have to agree using a bunch of words, like "I concur from the bottom of my lonely heart and I wish that everybody else would learn about lightning, because it is so wonderful and awesome." at least here are people with some kind of humor i can relate - maybe it's also my status as a newbie... i personally do think, that agreement does add to the topic and i don't have any merits to give, a simple thumbs up (as a sign of agreement) would help a lot, but what do i know... edit: oh i had a merit to give - the keeper of the private key got it |

The Lightning Network is a second layer scaling solution which has no impact on the Bitcoin network. It works independently and no one is forced to use it. the wording here is a little bit off imo. i guess you are not talking about the lightning technology used on another network than bitcoin. that means the lightning network it is clearly dependent on the bitcoin network and also i would say, that both networks have an impact on each other. i agree with the last part, that no one is force to use neither networks (some say people in el salvador are now force to use it, but that is another topic)only read the first post for now, sorry if this already came up, will catch up soon |

I'm generally trying to find drawbacks of this system, but not because I hate it. On the contrary; I just want to ensure that it'll remain.
i like how you think - don't ever take anything for granted and stay vigilant While the block reward stills gives a fair amount of bitcoins, it won't do in one or two decades. The miners will have to arrange their business based on the transaction fees. And now I'm asking; how will the system work if we all move to the LN? Sure, by opening and closing channels we broadcast transactions to the main layer, but if the majority behaved just like how I did, the mempool won't ever full. If it doesn't full, there will be less competition of who will get their transaction confirmed first and thus, less fee. I'm afraid that, overtime, there will be less incentive which is also translated to less security.
the rewards will get smaller, but even if the rewards are small in the future, a bitcoin will be much more valuable than today (if everything goes as "planned"). it's hard to imagine what a satoshi will be worth when the rewards are really small as other already have mentioned, the second layer is called the second layer cause the security of it depends on the first layer, there will always be an incentive also for second layer users to look out for the first layer if necessary |

why don't you download any wallet and run it for the first time so that it creates a wallet file for you? i thought this will (or is already?) change in the future, then when you start core, it will not generate a default wallet - i guess then you have to do it all by yourself |

Der Thread wurde mittlerweile geflaggt. Anscheinend aufgrund der negativen Trust des OP. Halte ich in diesem Fall aber für etwas übertrieben, schließlich hat man nicht viel zu verlieren außer ggf. ein paar Merits, die man dem OP zukommen lässt. Mal abwarten, was dabei herumkommt.
