181  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you disguise on your real gambling lifestyle just to help a friend/relative? on: May 06, 2024, 05:02:41 PM
Does any of you guys have any negative side of gambling habit in you which literally you advices anyone not to exhibit it?
When I was so addicted, I still tell my friends to be very careful and not waste money. But they know that I was losing money to gambling, especially the friends that are very close to me.
I can relate with this situation typical of a gambler like myself. I have never falling into gambling addiction net before since I started gamble, yet, I do give strong warning to people close to me that are contemplating on starting gambling. I discourage them from even thinking about it, as I believe that not everyone is emotionally strong to uphold a character of self discipline in gamble.

It only takes those that have had the experience of what and how intoxicating gambling really can be to discourage those outside with the intend of coming in, mostly especially for the gambler that have experience gambling addiction and survived, they know better, and will even be advising their fellow gamblers to gamble with caution.
182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: May 06, 2024, 11:50:44 AM
It has been what could be described as a one sided first half in the game between Chelsea vs Westham United,  as Chelsea played looking like a team, enjoying themselves on the field scoring so easily, goals we hadn't expected of them in this first 45 minutes.
It's a really good performance so far showing a bit of little improvement in the team's form based on their two previous games drawing Aston villa, winning Tottenham and currently leading by 3 goals to nil against Westham in the just concluded first half, a game they have gotten all the advantage to win without doubt.
This is Chelsea's biggest win with Pochettino, I don't think anyone would have guessed that Chelsea could win so convincingly like this against West Ham even though West Ham is actually just an average team that can sometimes perform very well but also vice versa.
However, Chelsea's victory looks ordinary because West Ham have suffered several heavy defeats this season, from Arsenal 0-6 and the most surprising was losing to Fulham 0-5, so it's not entirely because Chelsea played very well but it also helped because West Ham was very weak. In fact, they are the team in the top ten with the most goals conceded.
Is Chelsea experiencing progress? I don't know for sure, but they have the opportunity to play in one of the European competitions next season if they continue to get three points in the remaining games this season.
Not actually the biggest win, Chelsea played Everton 6 goals to nail in the Premier League race same Everton the team occupying the 3rd position lost the match by 2 goals. So in a way, I think (still on doubt) that Chelsea are trying on improving but it is a major case if they would remain consistent in their performance. The 3 teams left for Chelsea are not a threat so I expect them to keep on the winning streaks, who knows they might occupy the 6th position before the season ends.
Obim34 you got that correct, and that win from what I could remember was around month April. I am optimistic that they will continue with this force of performance to maintain their winning streaks in the remaining 3 games, just that they decided to come alive just when the season is getting to a wrapped up, something a mutual fan described as a fake out improvement. So what I want to see Chelsea do is to start the next season in a consistent improving performance such that they will be among the competitive teams within the top 6th position's on the EPL table next season and not to get back to fluctuating around their 10th/11th comfort zone position as it were throughout most part of this very season.
183  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you think gambling every day is better? on: May 06, 2024, 10:01:16 AM
There was a friend of mine who visited me a day after and he was saying gambling every day draws you more closer to winning.
Getting a win or bringing you closer to victory in gambling doesn't mean you have to actively go to the casino every day, there is a luck factor that could come your way by giving you a small win. The more you chase victory with the assumption that gambling every day will bring you closer to luck, the more trapped you will be in gambling and addiction may stick with you because the goal of gambling is only to chase victory.
I don't condemn the idea of gambling everyday provided the gambler is gambling responsibly within his financial limit of overall accumulative expense on his daily gambling. But if am ask to talk to someone about gambling I wouldn't encourage that such a one should gamble  daily as it's not a job or a rooted source of income.

The underlying thought would be that, for anyone who dares to gamble on daily basis has embrace it as a source of income which is something that could be devastating at the end because in gamble winning is not certain, and your chances of winning any bet doesn't depend on how often you spend time gambling. And by gambling daily, a gambler could get addicted and will not realize in the sense that he would be assuming it's a normal thing he does everyday.

185  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think casinos can stop demanding KYC? on: May 05, 2024, 01:02:05 PM
As  much as I dislike kyc in my own little way, I can say that kyc in casinos have helped prevent many illegalities and impersonations within the industry among gamblers, the inimical aspect of kyc is that it intrude and expose our privacy which ought to be a right of the individual.
What about the casino got hacked and then after few months or years, a criminal use your identity and then the police caught you're a criminal?
That's why if you could recall in the ending part of my first comment where you quoted I clearly stated in condemnation of the kyc as a means of exposure of our privacy in terms of our data/identity that a third party can gain access to and implicate us using our identity. And the example you had just used with casino hack paints a good picture of what I was implying among many things about the inimical side of kyc to users using centralized platforms in general
186  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do casinos require users to verify their identity through a KYC policy? on: May 05, 2024, 12:48:39 PM
In some cases, the casino might just outright want to do it on their own accord.
In rare cases some casinos can outrightly take advantage of the kyc to intimidate or want to seek a loophole through which they could deny a customer his win. Could probably be that such customer has won a big amount of money and have previously done and pass KYC but the casino still request again for a higher level of kyc which could be somehow rigorous for the gambler to pass through successfully and in any mistake they just use it to deny you pay sighting abuse of policy.

I've read a lot of comments in this board stating that a user is required to undergo KYC if their account is suspected of cheating.
The KYC is proof that you are playing in the right location and you do not have an alt account because all your data are on their database, your IP the computer you're using, and your exact location so they need to know if your information is the same in their database
Quite okay in the angle of right location but in the aspect of IP address been used to determine alt account under a single user which then lead to kyc verification demands, I feel casinos are not always correct in that area. Why, because a friend could decide to use his friend phone to login into his own account under same casino company which will for sure display same IP address in the two different accounts held by these two different individuals, at the end of the casino site it only appears to be two different accounts under one ownership, whereas it isn't exactly as it appears on their end. So I think this is just one defect in casinos' use of IP address to determine multiple accounts under a single user.
187  Other / Off-topic / Re: How much of my salary should I use to gamble on: May 05, 2024, 12:27:07 PM
Gambling is becoming a popular thing in my locality almost everyone gamble and even colleagues gamble and engage in gambling related discussions at work,  so gambling is legal and very popular so there is no Shame in using part of a salary to gamble with that is why I am asking the question of what the right percentage from my salary that I should use to gamble?
The popularity of gambling mostly online gamble has greatly attracted many people from different works of life to find interest in the activity and some do it for fun while others just engage to try their luck for a possible extra profit by chance.

I do not try to exceed 5% of out of my income for gamble any week I have to gamble. So it's left for you that knows the strength of your salary compared to the weight of  responsibility you carry generally to critically look inwardly and see if a 5% as I use will be okay with you.

No matter the percentage you might want to use be it below or above a 5% mark ensure that it's an amount of money out of your salary that you are will to afford losing, it's really important to do so. Gamble responsibly!
188  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think casinos can stop demanding KYC? on: May 05, 2024, 11:02:47 AM
Kyc verification underscores government control and interest into the activities of casinos, therefore taking away KYC is like blindfolding the government into these activities especially against money laundering, underage gambling and so on.

As  much as I dislike kyc in my own little way, I can say that kyc in casinos have helped prevent many illegalities and impersonations within the industry among gamblers, the inimical aspect of kyc is that it intrude and expose our privacy which ought to be a right of the individual.
189  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: May 04, 2024, 06:58:39 PM
There is no pressure whatsoever on Real Madrid to win the La Liga trophy this season because, after all, Real Madrid are absolutely certain to get the trophy this season.
If Barcelona draw this game against or loose to Girona, Real Madrid supporters can officially start their celebration because it will mean that they are certain already of the trophy, (not like there is any real challenge). Two early goals in the game, and the game went on with both teams having attempts but none scoring until the penalty opportunity to Barcelona which Lewandoski a capable leg firmly delivered. Barcelona will be happy to have the lead before the halftime. Xavi will want his team to do more in the second half and make sure they score another goal before Girona find a way to respond.
Girona are currently making a straight path for real madrid to travel smoothly in lifting up the Spanish league title  ,how Girona had to get a comeback scoring 3 goals in a row in the second half after Barcelona was leading 1:2 really puts Barcelona's performance and Xavi to question that they are been beaten home and away by Girona this season, more sadden is that they are going trophyless too. it's already ended at 4:2  full time.

191  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for May on: May 04, 2024, 10:57:05 AM
So yeah, we never saw BTC go up to 75k and stay above it and there was somebody in the April thread saying that it would be impossible for him to guess it right since the poll was exclusively just for April.  Mmm ok...  So let's run it back again.  Same poll as April:  Will BTC close above 75k for the month of May?

Here's the chart.  It honestly doesn't look as bad as everybody thinks overall about the market rn.

We don't know what bitcoin price can do in the next hour or more, every speculations about the price is done out of optimism  and  trust we have towards the digital currency in contrast to it's past halving circle's, and the most recent significant market events like the bitcoin spot ETF.

This May if am giving my prediction it's going to base on the similar chart pattern I am seeing in the 8hrs and 24hrs candle chart. And if my hunch is right, then we might be having bitcoin price closing at most 72k this May, except for other market news happening to break past the  strong resistance to close at 75k above.
192  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Would you still use Patricia after recent events? on: May 04, 2024, 10:23:17 AM
With all this things wey don happen, you go fit trust local exchanges? And wetin this one mean for other exchanges wey dey come up?
Wetin happen with Patricia exchange na wetin way every cryptocurrency user for we country gat use guide their judgement about our local exchanges. Make we no lie, the matter no easy to trust another exchange when the one we been put mind in onto say na them go be a better exchange way go serve as vanguard for other exchanges for the country both already existing one and the ones way dey come up.

The least any informed crypto user for Naija go do now na to allow him money sleep inside any local exchange because right now despite the Patricia saga, even the government no the do or arrange policies wey go give us confidence about cryptocurrency exchange future for the country. Instead them to harmonize them the attack us from all corners as though ne we be the cause of the fall of we Naira.

Aside from the new upcoming exchanges facing the risk of getting hacked or we having fear of exit scam, the government sef na another risk to consider when using local exchanges. Them fit wake up one morning in their blind battle to give the naira value just decide to give order make local exchange just shutdown, freeze anybody account they wish to make their target or even the total users account.

I been the use roqqu and flitaa under the idea of patronizing and promoting local products and services but with how things the go I just gat wipe my account to avoid putting my small change at risk. I not fit cry.
193  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy BTC sold for 16 BTC-1 mil USD on: May 03, 2024, 01:43:58 PM
Would I spend 1,000,000 on that sign no I would not.

Even If I was stupid rich (say 100,000 btc).
There are actions we just wanna carry out just to massage our ego in as much as the money is there to spend. It wouldn't necessarily seem like a waste to you by then because to you at that very moment it's like doing what many people can't even afford to do.

There are places I said to myself 10 years back I won't visit no matter the money I was going to make because at that time I previewed it to be a waste or something stupid to do with money. But guess what today! I visit a few of those places like thrice in a year now just because of the momentary feeling that comes with been there.

Money has a way of twisting our vibes, particularly too much money. Grin We just have to be patient till we have it in that bastard amount to know what we will do and what we won't do.

poverty has its own mentality so do wealth and riches too.

You are very much correct in this part no doubt, but you also need to know that their are some set of people that money and power can't change, you see those set of people, they are mostly rare, it can be either positive or negative, but the main thing is that money can't influence them easily, they are still the Mr A or Mr B we all know, their behavior or their spending rate don't change regardless of the financial power they now have.
@barikui1, we aren't ready for this debate right now, all am saying is wait till a man is in bastard money that's when we can say of his character but until then all I know is that there is that amount of money a person will have and he will go to places and do things he never was known for.  Some may not want to do them openly to public knowledge but privately.

Quote

Am saying this because their is a man I know very well in my locality that is very crafty or stingy, he hardly gives out something easily even to his offsprings, due to how stingy he is, you can't know how wealthy he is because he hardly spend on himself talkless of spending on someone else, so you see these types of people, even money cannot change them, because they are rooted down to who they are.
Do your check carefully, there are other areas that man must be spending his money.
194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: May 03, 2024, 06:45:26 AM
It is not easy to keep up with a good record just like what Leverkusen are doing now. It takes a very strong and deligent team to remain unbeaten despite their participation in various competitions. Leverkusen have shown their good quality again tonight as they continue to maintain their unbeaten record by winning Roma away from home. 2-0 is a good advantage for them in the second leg at home.
The record Leverkusen is trying to maintain at this point in time is such that is actually not easy to maintain at all and I can say for sure that they are actually trying a d are doing the very best they can do, from the beginning of the season no one has expected this much from them because they have always taught they aren't a strong team enough to be able to get such records a d all they have gotten is just but average results.

The fact that they were an average team and now been coached by a new and very young Coach was another factor that was been put to consideration that made the expectations on them was actually lowered because it was looking like an average team with such a young coach who's taking up such a job for the first time is  most definitely going to do poorly but then the thing that first drew attention to them was their ability to staying unbeaten in a long time, which has further be maintained tillt hei day and has given them even more attention than they had a earlier.

I think this record could possibly get to give Leverkusen more fans as many people will definitely get to want to be associated with the success they are seeing much more than the one they may. E hoping for and the fact that they are birthing a new era in the bundesliga where team are now having a level fair grounds to play is another huge factor to consider well enough to be able to give more accolades to Leverkusen.
You have actually made an elaborated but true reality of how the Leverkusen team had started with in this season and of a truth our former view towards them at the beginning is totally of a different one at this point as they have proven to be a team to be reckoned with when talking about the German Bundesliga.

They have come out in a formidable form that had made the Bundesliga most competitive this season than we have seen in many years and had not failed to extend this performance consistently even in the Europa league competition. And am fascinated to say that they are a very favourite aide in this Europa competition to win the title this season. More so, am positive we will see more of this about them when they eventually play in the European champions league competition come next season.
195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do not get discouraged by the current price of Bitcoin on: May 02, 2024, 09:25:42 PM
When I heard that man mentioned cashing out from the halving, I understood that he might know about Bitcoin but he's not properly enlightened concerning it. A lot of expectations were cut short after the halving event cause most people expected Bitcoin to set a new height of $80k but then it didn't even get close to the previous all time high and have reduced below $60k currently.
People that knows the value of the asset they are holding wouldn't have time to worry about the market price  rally  as it's not something new about bitcoin having.  The fear that some bitcoin investors entertain is due to their in-depth lack of knowledge about bitcoin. Any bitcoiner should know following the history of past market circles that the event of the halving doesn't mean an immediate ATH or a follow up rise in bitcoin price. It could take months or a years depending...

Been aware of this, all I do right now is buy and hodl with each price dip as the price keep rallying.
196  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Another attempt to discourage cryptocurrency adoption. on: May 02, 2024, 07:07:22 PM
We all know where all of this is erupting from but the FG are too shame clothed to come out directly about their recent action towards these Fintech banks.

Same government that are advocating for cashless economy are the ones fighting to shutdown means of making cashless economy practicable. The actual matter behind the FG attack on these Fintech is due to how increasing the number of online bank users are growing daily with many people not using the traditional banks as consistent as it were.

Now traditional banks are losing and dropping in profits with online transactions as userbase has decreased with how fast the Fintechs are growing it's now posing a treat to the position of the physical banking and the only allegations to label against them is using crypto as a scapegoat.

Are they trying to tell us that there aren't traders that use physical traditional banks for their crypto transaction? What then is the fate those banks.
197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does gambling excites you ? on: May 02, 2024, 06:20:06 AM
I don't allow myself get that excited when booking my games I just want to get concentrated on the variables I need to determine each option I should be opting for as I make my predictions. I feel if I take in emotions or excitement with me while booking my games I might go on making wrong predictions without knowing and that could affect my chances of winning any bets.

The excitement only start flowing in when am done with my predictions and my games booked, the hope to see my ticket get a win is where my excitement emanates and also with when am gambling with friends around that's the only time I can't hold back that feeling of excitement with them as we get to share prediction ideas together.
198  Economy / Lending / Re: Why do you take a loan on this forum? on: May 02, 2024, 06:01:29 AM
Just a random question that popped into my mind, why do you take a loan? because I were someone who in need, I will ask my family first, second is my close friends, third is my friends, then I either ask this forum or take a loan from banks. Fortunately I haven't in situation where I'm really hopeless and no one don't help me, that's why I have never took a loan on this forum.
Good for you but unlike some other individuals they may not have anyone ready or reliable to give them a loan and this is not because they don't have family or friends but reasons that those channels are not reliable in coming through for them in an emergency times that demands urgent loan to solve a need. So such persons take the forum to be their first point of reliable reach since they know they are legible for loan by way of being in one signature campaign or offering any other services in the forum that proves they are capable of repaying.

I have a close associate who works in a private establishment and all the loanshe had ever taken has been only from the company he works and they have to be taking a percentage of his salary till the loan is covered. I spoke with him about requesting for family members assistance some other time he needs a loan particularly that of a small size loan, but he opened to the fact that the only time he asked for their financial assistance they couldn't assist therefore he doesn't bother himself on them anymore but just focus on loans from the establishment he works with.

And it's possible some people that takes loans from the forum could be with similar mindset about family and friends, so what they do is just to focus on forum when a loan need arises.
199  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Nigerian passport ranked among worst globally on: May 01, 2024, 07:02:32 PM
This is no more new since many years ago. Although, this is a new report.

The truth is that we need all these kinds of negative remarks to remind us that we need to fix our country and that there is no place like home. If we value our country and even make it difficult for outsiders to access our country without proper scrutiny, then we may start getting positive recognition from outsiders.
The better solution is for Nigerians to have opportunities here in the country and see no need to travel for a better life. But can it be possible?
Yes  Charles, it is very possible, if only the citizens can unite beyond ethnic boundaries, get rid of self-interested and  desist from voting candidates based on party  lines to rather vote in those with capable hands and the wherewithal to move the country forward both in human capital and infrastructural development. It is possible for all of these to happen only that we don't know when but am quite optimistic that a revolution for a positive change towards teal development will happen someday. The status quo will not forever be this way.
200  Economy / Gambling / Re: More revelations on the challenges of physical casinos on: May 01, 2024, 12:03:55 PM
. I see this as a warning on the dangers of greedy agents in physical gambling platforms.
Its sadden that land based sport betting sites agents will continue to give a bad reputation to land base gambling companies who without delay had always paid customers their won cash immediately their bet ticket is approved. However these pattern of scam is not peculiar to land based casinos or sport betting shops alone but similar to online gambling sites too.

For me I think as long as traditional casinos can operate on daily basis and make bi players play on their edge, then they could still last. I believe the lesson in here is to really, only play with reliable casinos where they have verified payouts from their previous participants. In terms of online gambling, be aware of hidden rules and the activeness of customer service for any problem. And for traditional casinos, my biggest concern was always been my security. There's no point if I won a lot but I can't et out alive right? Grin
What are you trying to imply by saying you not get out alive winning a lot of money in traditional casino? I don't subscribe to that thought and that's because I have known and heard about people that won millions using traditional casino's or sports bet and are walking on the street living their everyday life after collecting the money.

I know one of the reasons some gamblers fail to use traditional casino's to use online is because of the fear of their security when they will large amount of money and it's then it goes public throughout the casino and it's environs. If you're one of such persons then you don't have to worry as you can always negotiate with the  casino management to keep you anonymous  without a third party knowing the identity of the winner.
