181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is risky on: August 20, 2024, 11:01:11 AM
Most of us were skeptical about Bitcoin at some point and eventually either by research or word of mouth we were able to see it as what it is, a store of value. I used to preach about the profitability of Bitcoin as a valuable asset when I first joined the forum as a newbie but the negative response that I got made me to only enlighten people that shows genuine interest to learn about it. Most of them either thought that I want to scam them or that I was introducing them to a Ponzi scheme but I'm glad that some are into cryptocurrency now. Bitcoin as a volatile crypto but you can't compere it to other cryptocurrencies that are risky, most will dip and never recover and they'll be dead with investors funds.
182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake lost bet again on: August 20, 2024, 08:36:33 AM
If I were to bet on that match it would've been in favor of Israel Adesanya, and I would've lost like Drake. So on this perticular Drake's lose, I really sympathize with him because I would've done the same thing. Having clarified that, I still think that Drake, is a serial loser when it matters in sports bets. If I were his follower and I found out that he wants to bet in favor of a team or an individual to win and I'm in support of his choice, I'll think twice about my decision. I wouldn't worry about his loses, it's his money and if it's amount that he can afford to loose, then he'll easily move on.
183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins are sucidal!!! on: August 19, 2024, 02:03:50 PM
It's quite simple, if you want to invest your money in cryptocurrency then the best and undisputed choice is Bitcoin. It doesn't give you a get rich quick scheme promises, it has proven itself as a store of value, an asset that will continue to increase in price and always reach new ATH on the long term. You buy, hodl and wait for bull run then you'll see your ROI increasing. The best strategy to accumulate is by using the DCA method, it gives you the ease of growing your investment fund.

Altcoins on the other hand are risky, buying them means that you're gambling your funds because there are more scam projects than the genuine ones. I see most altcoins as Ponzi schemes where the developers have scam intentions, they'll hype their projects, in the end it'll sink after many victims have invested their hard earned money. Except for a few top altcoins, you'll need to DYOR before buying any cryptocurrency, most of them are scams.
184  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A dangerous gambling behavior of a gambler on: August 19, 2024, 11:41:23 AM
The fact is that the gambler is criminal minded, if not he would have paid before leaving. Also not paying doesn't mean that he doesn't have the money to pay, he probably felt that there was no need to pay since he didn't win so he sneaked out at the slightest opportunity. I doubt that criminals worry much whether they're caught, they'll probably believe that it's unsmart thieves that gets caught. If I were the manager I'll naturally be angry at the cashier who was negligent while the criminal gambler escaped without paying.

Bet shops and any other businesses that serves the public should have CCTV cameras to monitor their business areas. The CCTV cameras should be visible so that their customers and visitors will know that they're being watched.
185  Economy / Economics / Re: Things to avoid if you want to be rich. on: August 19, 2024, 09:00:13 AM
The OP subject emphasized on the things to avoid if you want to be rich and I very much agree with the points that she raised in the content. I believe that there are guides to success and if someone diligently follows them through, although they might not become super rich but they won't end up in poverty. One concept that I've held in my heart to becoming rich is actually a mindset and it's that if you want to become a millionaire you need to think like a millionaire. If you don't have the positive mindset to become rich then there's high chances of becoming or remaining poor. It's hard to become exceptional and rich in your comfort zone so you need to think outside the box and find our to make a difference that can attract wealth to you, this is the mindset of the rich.
186  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you recognize a match fixing? on: August 19, 2024, 07:01:56 AM
It is almost impossible to recognize match fixing. You can have suspicions when watching the performance of the players or a decision of the referee or judges, but with no exact proof of incentive being involved, you cannot with any confidence call it match-fixing.

The bias some people make is to assume that whenever something is suspicious in the lower leagues, it has to be fixed. Think of how many times you watched the top leagues and did not agree with referees decisions during a match or felt a player or team were performing far below their standards, but no one thinks it could be fixed cause it is not common at that level of the game.

Match fixing exists and goes unnoticed some of the times, but without any official statement, it still is just suspicions.

- Jay -
It's really not possible to know for certain that a game is fixed because people that are playing it are humans and they could just be having a bad day. Unless match fixing has been proved beyond reasonable doubts by a league's management, then any suspicion by anybody is just personal opinion. Although I agree with the members that believes that match fixing will most likely not be in top leagues because of their reputations and the huge returns that they get, clubs and players are very rich. However more suspicions of match fixing will be in the lower and unrecognized leagues because of obvious reasons that the clubs are not rich.
187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it easy to teach crypto to beginners? How to? on: August 18, 2024, 04:21:03 PM
to become a professional investor must have a lot of knowledge or experience in business or trading, when someone takes action that will be done for the future, he will definitely think first before doing it and he will look for more information about the project he will follow so as not to fall into the wrong project. recently I posted about crypto on my social media account and many people asked me how to play crypto then they asked me to teach them how. can we teach them without having to meet? I think it's difficult! maybe friends here can share ways to solve the problems above.
It's easier now to teach people things and for them to understand what they need by themselves in this era of the internet. All anybody needs to do is know the authentic sites to what they want, click and search the information. It's that easy now, you don't necessarily need to ask another person questions before getting answers that you seek. Before trying to teach other people about cryptocurrency you need to first carry out extensive research so that you will not mislead anybody and when you teach the much that you understand, you still need to let them to know that it's not a financial advice.

This Bitcointalk forum is a good place to refer newbies to learn about cryptocurrency. I joined this forum without any crypto knowledge but today I know quite enough to give crypto advice to newbies and refer them to helpful links.
188  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Arrogance evolves tyranny... A continuation! on: August 18, 2024, 02:26:26 PM
Your story should be a lesson to business owners generally not to be overfamiliar with their customers because it can give the customers the right or entitlement to overstep their boundaries. Business and friendship shouldn't go together and casino or bet shop owners should treat all their customers with the same courtesy of strictly doing business, not allowing friendship to come into it or else their friends or regular customers can take the advantage to overstep their boundaries. I believe that the bet shop owner also have to be blamed for mixing business with friendship or familiarity otherwise no gambler will have the guts to go into restricted areas that is meant for staff only.
189  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Make we announce de level wey we don reach and any tin we we don achieve so far on: August 18, 2024, 08:23:23 AM

190  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you care if you win or lose at gambling before an important occasion? on: August 18, 2024, 07:27:20 AM
I have not really thought about this, but i do not really have to because i do not gamble with amounts that i cannot afford to lose, so losing a game wouldn't really affect mood, i would just get on with it. I think people who should be worried about something like this are people who gamble with so much money, and they even take gambling as a source of income; if that's not you, then it does not matter when you gamble.
I haven't given a thought about it either because I'm not a regular gambler and when I gamble it's with the amount that I can afford to loose. I think that it's people that gambles with a lot of money that it can affect their mood if they lose before an important occasion. However if loses affects a gambler whether they gambled with huge or small amount then it's important for such gamblers to consider if they should gamble before an occasion so it doesn't spoil their mood. Gamblers should practice responsible gambling by betting with the amount that will not affect their mental well being. Also it's not proper to depend on gambling as a source of income, it'll always put you in a bad mood anytime you lose.
191  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don’t Let Bitcoin Naysayers Intimidate You on: August 17, 2024, 04:54:47 PM
Most people were skeptical about Bitcoin in the early days of it's creation and they saw it from different perspectives, I think that most of them thought that it as a Ponzi scheme where many people will be scammed in the end. But over the years this negative perception about Bitcoin has really changed, people are now seeing it for what it really is, a store of value. I agree that some people still holds these negative perceptions about Bitcoin and are discouraging those that have genuine interests to invest in a genuine long term investment.

I believe that anybody that still allows neysayers to intimidate them by giving them unrealistic reasons why Bitcoin should not be trusted is allowing himself to be misled, in this era of the internet, people must learn to carry out research and decide for themselves. The adoption of Bitcoin is increasing rapidly, from my understanding, most people who have researched it and not interested in it are mainly for other reasons, not because they think that it's a scam.

Telling people about what you're worth in Bitcoin is depriving yourself of your privacy and freedom, you can be attacked for that. As an experienced bitcoiner you can teach people who have genuine interest to learn about Bitcoin but never what you're worth, you can't really tell if all your friends are happy about your achievements.
192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC is not human, someone have to use it right. on: August 17, 2024, 04:00:40 PM

If your leaders are corrupt don't bother trying to force them to do anything that will make the country grow using Bitcoin and crypto, it is not going to work.

Bitcoin is not the solution to countries with high poverty rate if the leaders are all corrupt.
There's no need to force or advocate for your country's leadership to adopt Bitcoin on a national level, as you said it won't change much if the leadership is corrupt and lacks vision. Bitcoin was created for the holders freedom and privacy and it's doing very well in the hands of individuals and institutions that are proactive and knows it's worth as a valuable asset. Infact governments don't need to hodl Bitcoin for it's price to continue to reach new ATH price, so it's anybody's lose including countries that can not be truthful to themselves and hodl the store of value.
193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When the Jackpot becomes a disaster. on: August 17, 2024, 09:22:12 AM
Anybody that is coming out from a public place with huge amount of money is always at risk of being attached, whether it's from a casino or bank. Even when many people knows that you hodl a large amount of Bitcoin, you're also at risk because you're your own bank, meaning that you have the personal keys to your coins. The incident is very sad, who knows if the victim has lost far more than $3000 in gambling and some robbers feels that they're entitled to his win, I hope that they'll pay fully for their crime. This is why online gambling is becoming very popular, if you win, people around can not know, except if you share the information with anybody.
194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Consequences of greed on: August 17, 2024, 07:33:55 AM
I can not call it greed if he is able to afford to lose the money that he used to stake the bet. If his friend have not won, he may not even think of the bet at all. But he might not like the situation as his friend won but he did not win. He will not like the situation not because his friend won, but because he lost and he gave his friend what to select to bet with.
I won't call it greed either because gambling is based mainly on luck and the guy with his friend that won didn't know that the ticket will win. If the additional game that the guy added had won, his win could have been greater than his friend's own and we would've been praising him for being very brave not greedy. Gambling is risky and the more you're increasing your chances of winning more the riskier it gets, the guy's friend won that huge amount because of the high amount of matches on the ticket. It'll no doubt be painful to him for not winning because he added another match but if he gambled with the amount that he can afford to loose then he should move on. He has to console himself because if the game had played accordingly he'd be smiling so better luck to him next time
195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tapswap scam or scam? on: August 16, 2024, 01:55:39 PM
After they have millions of people community, they also let people to watch YouTube videos which they are making money from. Also encouraging people to buy pay them money. This is no more airdrop project but ways to earn money from people. Do not pay any money to buy any worthless thing from them. They keep postponing the launching date.

It was after people made a lot of money in notcoin that I think this was introduced or maybe it had been there but came known to many people after the success of notcoin. A lot of people rushed into it hoping that they’ll make a lot of money from it but failed them after so many postponement of launching date. They didn’t start that YouTube video not until others did and they saw how they are making money from it before they also started. They are always looking for strategy to milk their users. I am not thinking this is going to launch anytime soon and if they do, they might not be worth anything after listing. It’s better to stay off anything associated with them that requires paying money for it.
People likes to follow trends and when they hear that there's a place where there is free money they'll all flock their without carrying out research. The success of NOTCOIN opened the door for many people to come into cryptocurrency, believing that any project that operates like Notcoin will reward them with airdrops. After the launch of NOTCOIN I was surprised at the level of people's commitments to tapping on these follow up projects and I knew that scammers will take advantage of the situation to scam many people.

I wouldn't be surprised if they keep postponing the launch because as it is they're making money off their victims. NOTCOIN has made many people to be ignorant of the many scams that are in the crypto space and I guess that many newbies will learn from their mistakes.
196  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Nuclear weopons are biggest security for countries and nations. on: August 16, 2024, 11:45:16 AM
I get your point that having nuclear weapon means that no other country can easily mess with you because they know that you have the capacity to be a threat to them too. I'm however glad that it's not every country that have a nuclear weapon because there will be chaos in the world and it can lead to sudden end time of humanity. To have a balance in this world all fingers don't have to be equal, meaning that it's necessary to have the strong and the weak because if everybody have the same strength and intelligence we can not coexist.
197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do bookies allow cashouts?  on: August 16, 2024, 10:44:53 AM

Why does the casino do that? Is it that they are scared of paying off that potential win if the game is finally successful? Or are they doing it to help the gambler take some profit so that even if the game bust, the gambler wouldn't be in total loss? The casino offers cash out when they are not even sure that the ticket will play out successfully, why?
I think that bet companies cash out offers to gamblers is for their own benefits, it's a business decision to reduce the probabilities of paying full wins. I doubt that they have the gamblers interests in mind when they offer them the choice of cashing out. For a ticket of 20 matches and the gambler has been lucky to have won almost everything, it's a wise business decision for the bookies to also gamble by giving the gambler the option to cash out some percentage of the total win. So that they won't be at total lose if all the matches in the ticket goes through, it'll then depend on the gambler to either play safe and collect whet he's offered or take the risk of collecting the full amount.
198  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: August 16, 2024, 09:08:49 AM

199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Unimaginable case yesterday at local bet shop. on: August 16, 2024, 07:53:05 AM
Addicted gamblers betting with their physical assets is not a new thing to me, aside from physical bet shops, you'll see them at local card and draft games. My latest experience on gambling dept recovery was seeing someone being mercilessly beaten on the street by tugs and I heard that he was owing a gamble operator. The guy started having a seizure during the beating, it was a horrible sight to behold. I don't think that it's proper for bet establishments to be accepting any other form of staking, other than cash, accepting physical assets means encouraging gambling addiction.
200  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How long have you been into cryptocurrency and what have you learnt? on: August 15, 2024, 05:45:06 PM
Di most important thing wey I don learn for cryptocurrency be say no be get rich quick scheme, some people de think say na place wey you go enter and small time you go blow. Di reality be say weda na crypto investment or trading you choose, no be for the di unemployed or people wey no get money because you need money to make money for inside crypto business. Di only wey to make quick money for cryptocurrency na to gamble your funds, if you buy cryptocurrency wey no get reputation for di market, you fit to get plenty ROI or di project fit to scam you and you go lose all your money.

For dis forum I learn say person need to carry out research before dem go buy any cryptocurrency odawise your money fit to burn. Na for here I get di knowledge say na Bitcoin be di most trusted cryptocurrency wey don build reputation for di crypto market as a store of value. Anoda thing wey I don learn na di importance of securing your private keys and seed phrase because dat na di only proof of ownership to your coins for inside Blockchain.
