181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have concluded that all governments together can't stop bitcoin on: January 14, 2022, 07:31:34 PM
As long as we don't live in a completely centralized world, I don't see how could Bitcoin be stopped. Even if a big state decides to ban it, with the present problems of the fiat currencies it is going to be a matter of time until people make request of Bitcoin to be unbanned. Remember, something that is rare and is regarded by the population as hard money will triumph in the end.
182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin - a joke or a way to make money? on: January 09, 2022, 08:42:40 PM
As for technology it is obviously outranked by new blockchain solutions like ETH, SOL, AVAX, etc.
As a store-of-value is clearly outranked by Bitcoin.
Plus, the development on it is very little, non-existent or I am completely unaware of it.

So I'm pretty confident to say that Dogecoin is just another altcoin which still shows signs of life because it was between the first cryptos in the market >> value derived from pure speculation.
183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is unsettling, for those who don't have it on: January 09, 2022, 06:32:38 PM
From a psychological perspective we don't like change. That's what our ancient brain tells us, but we need change to evolve. BTC is a major change in the world's financial system thus the transition won't happen in a glimpse. With time more and people will try investing and using this cryptocurrency. If they see/realise for themselves that it is a good asset to store their wealth and that the technical side is actually not that hard, they will gladly adopt it. That's why we're seeing a linear growth of Bitcoin if we look on the higher timeframes.
184  Economy / Gambling / Re: Very immoral marketing strategy. on: January 09, 2022, 04:37:12 PM
I think regulations should require each casino, be it online or offline, to display a disclaimer that clearly specifies that winning over a large number of iterations is not probabilistically feasible.
If you ask the regular gambler, I assure you that he doesn't understand how the game is designed against him. He does not see gambling as a way of entertainment, but of a land of hope for his biggest financial dreams. That's wrong and immoral, I agree. A minimum solution I can think of right now would be a short quiz that each user needs to complete.
185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Prophesy on: January 09, 2022, 04:03:07 PM
There is no prophecy imo, it is just a better store-of-value. As an evolutive species we're very likely to adopt a superior tool to store our wealth and that's Bitcoin. It doesn't need to be more complicated than this. We are already seeing:
  • hedge and pension funds allocating percentages there
  • countries adopting it as legal tender (i.e. El Salvador)
  • halving is approaching Wink
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are you buying right now? on: January 09, 2022, 09:57:07 AM
Finding out what other people are doing with their money might be useful to gauge the sentiment in the market, but you shouldn't act based on their opinions. Your own research and due diligence (that includes your beliefs about the fundamentals and the technical outlook) is what you should base your trading/investment decision on.
187  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: which is a good option?? Trade or Hodl on: January 08, 2022, 07:27:40 PM
On long-term trading aka investing the fundamentals will have enough time to be reflected in the charts while on the short-term (up to a few weeks or even months) you will encounter fluctuations that do not necessarily depend on fundamentals, but on the agendas of other market participants and their feelings. That is why probability and technicals are so important on short-term trading.

As most of the people on this thread recommended IF you do like trading and you have the time for it you should start slowly. First learn as much as possible then start practice on a demo account and then using a small bankroll.
188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: if bitcoin was main currency, what's gonna be the BTC value? on: January 08, 2022, 06:55:29 PM
Indeed, if BTC become the mainstream currency of the world all the other assets' values shall be denominated in BTC value. But Bitcoin could end up only becoming the main store-of-value asset and we'd use a more stable currency for day-to-day payments.
189  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Keep calm and buy the dip. on: January 08, 2022, 02:49:37 PM
I'm not an adept of drawing candlestick patterns so early. I mean merely half of the formation is completed. In my experience plotting drawings like that will only make you hopeful and think that you know what will happen before. Objectivity is key here and emotional supression when it comes to financials. 190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will owning 0.01 BTC really make you rich? on: January 08, 2022, 11:27:05 AM
If Bitcoin becomes a widely accepted store-of-value asset, I don't see why not. With the rapidly advancing technology the productivity grows at an incredible rate that will produce large amounts of wealth. Heck, the humanity is now trying to expand to other planets as well. Think about all the locked resources we could find on other planets. The universe is abundant, but Bitcoin is so scarce.

0.01 = 1 centibit
21M BTC = 2.1bn centibits

By owning 1 centibit (0.01 BTC) and if we consider an equal distribution of the BTC supply to the 7 billion current Earth population, the net worth of each person should be around 0.3 centibits = 0.003 BTC. So by owning 0.01 BTC you have the wealth of 3 people together in an equally spread world. But that's not true in practice, because wealth concentrates in the hands of those who provide value to the society. So yes, I'd say owning 0.01 BTC could make you wealthy on the long-term.
191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NEW] COINDOGS ECOSYSTEM - NFT + PLAY & EARN on: January 06, 2022, 06:17:41 AM
If this is marketed well it could become the next highly addictive NFT game. Congrats for securing the brand/domain name "coindogs" - sounds catchy.
Looking forward to seeing the gameplay interface.  Smiley
192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nayib Bukele prediction: 2 more countries will adopt Bitcoin as legal tender on: January 06, 2022, 06:09:35 AM
History is being made. Bitcoin keeps his position as a slower, but steady winner both in the adoption rate and in the financial markets.
You can imagine that a president has a lot of influencing power and opportunities so Mr. Nayib is obviously making efforts in promoting Bitcoin as a new standard for storing value.

194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What lie did you tell? on: August 18, 2021, 07:43:27 PM
Haha... You learned a good lesson while very young, be grateful. Others learn it the hard way - losing much more and ending up addicted.

I used to parlay on football and tennis back in the days. I had quite a knack at it, but I quickly realised it was a loser's game in the long run, but it is fun especially when your favorite team is playing. Adds a little more spice to the game night. Wink
195  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mobile phone vs. laptop vs. tab...what's your preferred device for day trading? on: August 18, 2021, 12:09:35 PM
I am not a day-trader, but I do know other day-traders. They certainly do not use mobile phones or tablets. I know only one that uses a mobile phone to manage positions at the end of the session in case he didn't close them already.

IMO it is quite obvious that the easiest setup would be a computer with high-quality monitors (you want to look at beautiful colors if you're going to spend so much time staring at the screen). There are some traders who prefer a more casual setup like only a laptop - that works too especially if you like trading in more social places (like a coffee shop).
196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Jamaica Adopt cryptocurrency on: August 17, 2021, 07:43:21 PM
The advantage of a blockchain is that the transactions are easily traceable so if if for example the govt. money has been used in unethical ways, a simple blockchain audit should reveal where the money "has travelled".

I think a lot of corruption could be eliminated this way. On the other side the authorities will be much "closer" to citizens' spending habits and we would still have to depend/trust a centralized entity which personally I don't like. I'd much rather trust a big, decentralized network (Bitcoin), but the two - stablecoins and BTC could co-exist successfully IMO.
197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin solving the problem of intermediary on: August 17, 2021, 06:48:24 PM
First I'd like to correct you. You said you "have been shipping goods from US to your country and selling them in your retail store" and then you say you are converting native currency to US dollars before sending the money to your "customer" in the US - if you are sourcing goods from an entity it is called a SUPPLIER, not a customer. Maybe you hurried and made that mistake.

Second of all, congratulations for adopting Bitcoin. Advanced technology is here to make things simpler for us by optimizing processes. Great to hear that both you and your supplier managed to make thsi change.

Unfortunately I don't have my own business yet, but Bitcoin is a viable solution for companies around the world to trade in no doubt about that. The volatility of the asset shouldn't be a problem neither as the transactions are more or less instant, so they can quickly convert back to fiat or a stablecoin.
198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum is not a rival of Bitcoin on: August 16, 2021, 06:56:58 PM
Well... you can't just compare the price/unit. You've got to take the supply into account as well. A better way would be to compare the market capitalization of the two crypto assets.
BTC's market cap is only about 2.3x ETH's one while the price difference is over 10x, but then when you look at the supply you'll have a great discrepancy. Wink

I think Bitcoin will continue leading the market. That's the most trusted asset IMO and I believe most of the funds will pour into it.
199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Satoshi Nakamoto Hypothesis on: August 16, 2021, 05:15:24 PM
Good hypothesis, but from a psychology standpoint each one of us is unique and thus has its own peculiar things. A man with a bright mind that was capable of creating Bitcoin is certainly special like every one of us. Smiley My point is that not everybody has a need for attention and fame. There are people who just want to do meaningful things and not be the center of attention. Just imagine the amount of publicity and renown he would get if he revealed himself. One needs to think deeply about his lifestyle when making such decisions.
200  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trading needs consistent attention and full concentration on: August 16, 2021, 05:56:11 AM
I think you can be a consistently profitable trader even if you are a part-time trader. No need to stay glued all-day to the screen if you're trading a high timeframe like a daily or weekly. And yes, it does need a lot of focus and concentration, but once you get it, it kind of becomes an automated process requiring less cognitive effort as the mind gets used to it. Wink
