181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] [GULDEN] Guldencoin.com — New wallets available 1.5 — MANDATORY UPDATE on: September 03, 2015, 06:44:31 PM
The sudden influx of trolls can only mean that we are doing something right...
182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: iSpace SHA256 Mining Pool Support Thread on: September 03, 2015, 07:03:29 AM
Your Guldencoin wallet is out of date, please upgrade it in the next few days or all blocks you mine will start to be invalid.

Also I notice that your pool identifies itself in the coin base as /nodeStratum/ - please consider replacing this with a pool specific identifier like /iSpace/ or similar so that coins can easier identify who is mining them, this can be done in 'transactions.js'

Note that you are now mining on a fork of Guldencoin (as you have not upgraded) - all the blocks you mine will be invalid.
Please consider upgrading as soon as possible.

Just a quick update:

We are now 308 blocks in to the new reward blocks and everything seems to be going good. The 1.5.0 blockchain fork has outpaced the 1.4.0 one that formed initially so that concern is now out of the way.

There remains 1 very large unidentified jump pool (Estimate ~10 gh/s or more) who is mining on 1.4.0 and some forks of a few blocks keep forming as a result (only for 1.4.0 people), this will likely continue until the miner wakes up and realizes that he has wasted a huge amount of electricity, this is not a major concern but we will continue to keep an eye on it.

The risk is not huge but:
Anyone who is on 1.4.0 should consider upgrading, but failing that just watch out for double spends (don't consider any transaction as possibly valid until it has at least 10 confirmations - preferably more - though this is standard best practice anyway)
The same goes for SPV (mobile wallet users) - beware of transactions with few confirmations for now.

Just a precautionary warning - please temporarily avoid transacting with the SPV (cellphone) wallets if at all possible, until the 1.5.0 chain pulls ahead of the 1.4.0 one.

First 100 NLG block 250001 is in.

I think volume will drop over the coming weeks - and being as Bittrex can't wait to delist coins, perhaps looking for another exchange to get on wouldn't be such a bad idea?

You need only 1.4 BTC in volume every 2 weeks to stay listed, and even then I've seen coins trade under that and stay on for about 2 months. This seems an incredibly unlikely scenario right now.

Only 117 blocks remaining, we should see the switch at some point today still.

This last week my eyes widened even further when our services remained responsible for sometimes more than 50% of the daily volume. Today we were responsible for nearly 12 BTC of the total 20 BTC in volume. Which means that all your theories and predictions referring to trading Guldencoin can go out the door. More than 50% of NLG's volume came from a currency flowing through its ecosystem and not flowing through traders trying to make a buck. With such a relatively small user-base, that is still new and growing, this is such a great and positive sign.

Even with so many daily transactions that have nothing to do with the daily trade we didn't see a negative price-trend. Within several weeks we will start taking over the merchant market with Nocks and we'll hopefully have Guldenbuy back up so we can double-up on buy support for an increasingly thriving ecosystem.

This is truly fantastic, keep up the good work! And to everyone else keep spreading the news.

Is Mani still on the team guys? If so, why is the NLG wallet so boring? Let him make a wallet like pandabank or something  Wink Or at least put a skin on the wallet Huh

NLG wallet verdient echt een mooier uiterlijk imho...

I'm still here Smiley
Unfortunately sometimes the most important developments are not the most exciting ones, but that doesn't make them less important, it is easy to slap a fancy looking skin on a wallet that is filled with bugs and has a code base that is four years old, but maintaining it after that is another story.. Every development done on old outdated code becomes another obstacle that makes it even harder to catch up, and in turn means more wasted development time in the long run.

As we don't have huge resources or a giant development team (like e.g. bitcoin) we need to work *smart* and find ways to streamline the process.
So currently/initially the focus has been first on getting the code base up to date and 'in order' and getting everything 100% streamlined so that we can be in a position to do better things going forward, in the short term it makes things look slower and like nothing is happening but in the long term it will pay off..
This release is basically the new 'start' we are far from done Smiley After this and a smaller 1.5.1 maintenance release to tie up a few loose ends, we will be in a better position to do 'exciting things' going forward, and will even be able to do them faster as a result of the work that has been done now. UI improvements of some form or other are definitely on the cards at some point, watch this space.

And a fun-fact is that our services Paysafegulden and Nocks are responsible for nearly 50% of the total volume these past few days. Very proud of this!

Awesome! Is there an API Jero could use to query this? It would be nice to see it factored in to http://guldencoinweb.nl/trade-volume.php

Litecoin about to halve, will be interesting to see what (if any) affect this has on hash rates with them already sitting quite high at the moment.
193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com — D E L T A on: August 23, 2015, 06:35:02 AM
got your network msg. www.xpool.ca is updated to the latest now.

Cheers!

Thanks!
I see the xpool.ca doesn't put a unique identifier in the coinbase - like https://github.com/bitpay/insight/issues/340
Would you please consider doing this?
194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com — D E L T A on: August 19, 2015, 05:20:40 PM
I now have between 70,000 and 90,000 KH/s on Hardcore Miners and should be able to maintain this for the next few weeks at least, months more likely. That's approx 5600 NLG or 0.0149 BTC per day at today's price..

Now this is the sort of news I like to see Smiley
195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com — D E L T A on: August 19, 2015, 05:03:10 PM

ROI on rentals don't happen but I am doing this to see MP behavior before the switch over and what mining capabilities we need to build up for the future, there is a good chance the drop in rewards won't affect the hash rate as much as people think.

Determining factors.

1. The faster the average block times the more hash will be put against the blockchain. MPs have their own calculations built in, you can see the network hash rate has more then doubled because the blocks have been coming in faster. At one stage Hardcoreminers had 1.7 GH/s against it yesterday, when the difficulty dropped low the pool had no chance against the MPs. This leads me to believe at low difficulty we have over 10 GH/s coming onto the blockchain and then leaving.

2. Litecoin halving coming around the same time we switch over, if the value does not increase that hash will need to go somewhere else.

Other results.

Over 2GH/s dedicated will get us close to 500 blocks a day at this price/reward and over 6 GH/s on the network.

Looking forward to hearing more about what you learn.  Maybe start a thread at one of the community forums for more discussion?

How 24 hour or 7-day hashrate is calculated for NLG is very interesting to me..   I've avoided hosting any average hashrate or average difficulty charts at nlgstats as I'm not sure there is an accurate way of measuring those things when large jump pools are on the chain for very short durations or there are automatic drops in difficulty after long periods of time without any blocks being solved.

It is impossible to get an accurate measure of the network hash power, only a rough estimate, and the lower the difficulty the more wildly inaccurate that estimate will be. The entire thing is a game of statistics/chance so a precise measure is impossible.
That said the estimates are still useful (especially for higher difficulty blocks) as they do give an idea what has been going on - but for a block that is solved in 2 seconds it tells you absolutely nothing of worth.

Huge dip going on with bitcoin at the moment, which is affecting almost all coins.
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com — D E L T A on: August 18, 2015, 03:20:03 PM
Less talk about other irrelevant coins and more focusing on how to make Guldencoin better Smiley
By giving irrelevant things attention you make them relevant and help them with free publicity.

It would be interesting to see what sort of package prices some of the scrypt manufacturers may be willing to offer directly.

Is there a good chance prices will stay where they are after the reward change. Reason I ask is because I want to buy some more coins after I submit my income tax returns next month and receive some money back.

300 blocks are found daily. 300 * 100 = 30 000 * 0.00000300 = 0.09 btc worth of supply at these prices instead of additional 1 btc worth of supply entering the market every day. This does not mean prices will rise 10 times because there is already over 250 million in supply and traders will take profits at 350-400 sat. Worst case there "might" be a spike in price to 600 and it will level at around 450 after dumps from short term investors.

The above is my expectations over the next 3 months.

I want to recall my above prediction on price. There is just too much other things happening with this coin and I don't want to be accused of inaccuracies.

Why would anyone be accused, for simply sharing thoughts surrounding the block reward change  Wink

The new developments coming out have caught me by surprise. I really don't know what to expect in price, people already taking coins off bittrex showing more faith that the coin isn't just a short hold.
http://nlgstats.nl/charts/total_NLG_at_bittrex.html

More purchases($218 at time) from litebit all going into wallets and not exchanges.
http://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/litebit/

You say .1 btc will be mined on the market at a price of 300 after the reward change? That is only $26 new dollars coming onto the network daily, I just don't see how the price cannot go up if mainstreamers are starting to invest.

I think various pools have quite a bit of unsold currency gathered up that they will continue to sell, so I don't think the supply will dry up suddenly, which is probably a good thing.
My personal prediction, though really its impossible to predict markets anyway, is a bit of short term volatility, followed by a slow steady increase thereafter in time as the supply slowly dries up and user base grows. A lot will depend on what other developments happen, new stores etc.

Daily Guldencoin volume charts - T E S T I N G  Grin

No historical data so we start with a clean graph. Will show public one of these days...

small preview - more will follow coming days

http://guldencoinweb.nl/trade-volume.php

--

Graph will show 24 hour volume @ bittrex, litebit and bleutrade.
Every day shows volume of that day, only last (current) day show last 24 hour till 0:00  Wink

Horizontal shows date and verticle Euro.

Great stuff! I've been wanting a proper metric of this for ages, can't understand why places like coinmarketcap don't show volume over time, to me volume is a million times more important than the present price.
