You can encrypt files yourself and keep them at dropbox folder. That's private.

I could not find any information about what limits get-bitcoin.com have and what is their BTC<->USD rate. But itīs hard to compare made in 15 minutes website with 2 months history, with any professional service. I can't say anything about that particular service, but new "exchangers" are creating and disappearing every day, so if you suppose our minimal fees too high I would recommend you use any other established service with at least few years history.

Get-bitcoin is there much longer than 2 months and you can find information about the creator online. When you make the order you can specify the limit order. Thats another plus.

Again, we are not charging 30% fee! Minimal fee is $30 because it's not profitable to charge let's say $2 for $100 WU transfer - if you are exchanger working with WU, you will have to send someone from your staff to WU agents for picking up transfers that is spending of time/money. Thatīs why most of well known exchangers, who is accepting WU charge minimal fee, or have limits (like $1000 minimal WU order for example).

Fair enough. But when you charge $30 for a $100 transaction, thats 30% for me.

If you not trust us, and not want to spend $30 for $100 test transfer, I can recommend you check testimonials on other forums, links to some of them you can find here http://wm-center.com/testimonials.php We have thousands of customers and hundreds of daily orders, we are certified exchanger of most major ecurrencies also we are recommended exchanger of Liberty Reserve (check their main page). Sometimes we can lower our fees for constant customers, but not for you first order for small amount, sorry.

Good to know fees can be lowered for constant customers. In that case, I might use it in the future.

For testimonials, I'll check this independent forum. I'll NEVER trust nor recommend people to trust a website testimonials. Whats the point in putting a testimonial section if everything could be easily faked? Just put the link to this (or other independent) forum.

Get-bitcoin.com charges 5% to buy bitcoin (and you can place a limit order) and 3% to withdraw bitcoins. They accept WU but apparently not MG.

Charging 30% is outrageous. To charge this price it is better to not offer the service at all. I just want to buy a few bitcoins and test it before I use it more often. I don't want to pay almost 40% charges for my first purchase or having to put a thousand dollars in an exchange I don't trust.

I tried to buy some bit coins from Latin America. The payment will be thru MoneyGram. Here. they charge me 4% to send 100 usd.

Now the calculations.

I want to buy 20 bit coins. Price today is 4.9 usd. That's 98 usd. Let's see how much VM charges...

Going to their website I see the bitcoin price at 5. That means I have to pay 100 usd for the bit coins. Now the commission; 30 usd!

- They charge you 30% commission!
- They charge you 3% for spread!
- In my case, I still had to pay 4% MoneyGram commission!

OUTRAGEOUS! 38% to buy bit coins using VM. Angry

Creating a minimum post count just make people post more useless posts.

- Yeah, you're right.
- You are correct.
- Good decision.

What about sticking to time spend on forum and one post so people can present themselves?

What's the point? They want you to visit their website to serve you ads. At least they could pay you.

Isn't it better to stick to one currency? I know competition is good but having this litecoin that's easier to create doesn't sound like a good idea.
191  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoinica Should Be Left to Crumble - Bitcoin Community Please Read, Share View on: February 20, 2012, 03:27:03 PM
Bitcoinica looks like a nice platform. It could be working like a real bank; paying X% interest for clients who keep their money in there and charging 2X% for lending.

Bitcoin should be an open platform without many regulations. Government pressured by banks could close most bitcoin "banks" making bitcoin less convenient. It would be nice to have many options to deal with bitcoin. Who's the government to tell you what to do with your money?

Bitcoin platforms could make a lot of money from commission and lending (like ANY regular bank). Bitcoinica could be one of them but you never know if Zhou might get your money and disappear. You never know if he's thinking about long term gain or making a quick-buck scheme next week or in years to come.

I'll never keep my money in those places for long. Put money inside, trade and send the funds to your wallet (just like day trading).

193  Other / Beginners & Help / Encrypting Wallet.dat inside DropBox (Mac) on: February 10, 2012, 01:22:25 PM
Hello

I saw an article about securing the wallet.dat (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Securing_your_wallet).

My doubt is how to create the symlink on a Mac 10.7 (Lion).

1: Create an encrypted DMG (˜1mb) inside DropBox.
2: With Bitcoin closed, put Wallet.dat (it's inside user/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin) inside the DMG.
3: Create a symlink from Wallet.dat (inside DMG) on user/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin.

Now, how do I crate the symlink inside user/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin so Bitcoin will use it?
