181  Economy / Securities / Re: Where can we find the most up to date information on mining pools? on: October 20, 2012, 01:59:06 PM
That is an interesting question.  I would also be interested if those companies started offering private shares and managed their investments on an individual basis.

I don't know why those companies do start managing their own shares and users, seems like if they have a solid solution then manage the investing on their own it would give them a strong op picture.
182  Economy / Securities / Re: Banyan Investments OPENING Monday 22/10 (Upto 7%/week) on: October 20, 2012, 01:55:32 PM
Magic number, I love that.  Basically if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.
183  Economy / Securities / Re: Banyan Investments OPENING Monday 22/10 (Upto 7%/week) on: October 20, 2012, 01:51:34 PM
Ok, so my first question with everyone is what is it about 7% and these ops?  Why not advertise 5% or 10%, I find it odd that 7% is popular number.

Now one comment was the "Should I also ask proof of identity from my customers", look that is not a strong comment back and I understand your point about identity but really who are you and why would I invest.  This just seems to be another trust me deal and right now I think the trust market is a bit low in the bitcoin world.  I would feel better if their was a site with a mission statement and some logic to investing in the op versus there will be a contract and it is a group of traders in Europe and Asia.

Good luck
184  Other / Politics & Society / Big Brother meets Big Data: Governments start scrutinizing credit card records on: October 19, 2012, 05:51:15 PM
Not a big fan of NBC news but this is something I thought you all would enjoy taking a look at:

"The economy is so bad in Argentina that the government recently said it would start taxing overseas credit card purchases. It also demanded that banks report all credit card transactions -- foreign or domestic -- saying the data would be used to find tax cheats."

The whole article is at:

186  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Submerge your rigs in liquid on: October 18, 2012, 11:40:08 AM
Yes, someone on here is running their rig in mineral oil and mining.  They made their own setup and it is working with I think five cards.  There are pics of it under the pic of my rig thread.  The only issue I can think of that would be a real pain is that the oil can get contaminated once things like dust and other forign items enter the mix.  The would then cause you to have to shutdown and drain, clean and reload as needed which could be a real pain.  I have thought about this and I would say that if your going to attempt it that you basically plan that the gear you put in will be tossed after two or three years if you get that far.  Otherwise it is really interesting idea for us heat and noise producers.
187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Iran can't print paper, guy tells them to use BitCoin on: October 17, 2012, 04:04:33 PM
Agreed, I remember the news talking about how in other countries like Iraq and in Libya people were using small boats to get to Bahrain or other countries that would allow them to bank and use those funds.  Boats with people holding thousands and thousands of dollars worth of funds so people over there will do about anything to move and or secure their funds and bitcoin back then was just not an option like it is now.
I think what would be of greater value to Iran and their folks is not tying to get them the software but to get to points of contact at neighboring counties to either setup regional bitcoin posts outside of the country or attempt to get in bitcoin cold wallet systems to do conversions in the country.  Now I know what I am saying is basically smuggling in a laptop with the software and either a sat or cell phone which could have some serious issues associated with it but I would bet that it would be safer then trying to download or setup something in the country on their controlled internet which probably would be like turning on a homing beacon.  I would guess that people who would turn to bitcoin for their funds would rather use it infrequently during this time and see it more of a way to save their funds so that once this ends they can recapture their funds and apply them to rebuilding their efforts.

Just my two cents but I am very interested in the topic and would be very interested to see any more efforts applied to Iran with BitCoin.  It is an unfortunate experiment.
188  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: October 17, 2012, 03:34:55 PM
Mind if I ask probably a stupid question but with GLBSE gone why can Gigamining basically offer a privately held option that they ran through a secure website that they managed.  I know this will be a bigger level of effort that Gigamining may not want to take on but if it were me running the org I would just bite the bullet and setup a way to manage my individual investors in my operation so that we could all move forward.  I may be making this sound easier then what it is but when you set up a corporation you can follow the regulations to offer bonds and or stocks in your company to obtain funding and manage funds through those self held promissory notes.  Not saying you need to do that since bitcoin world is a little less formal but if a site were setup to manage users and funds in and out under Gigaminings control it sounds doable.

Just an idea,
189  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Countdown til October 12th on: October 16, 2012, 03:23:09 PM
Well, nothing happened.
Big surprise!

So about that legal action...

Has pirate said anything on IRC?

I didn't think he would....more stalling...more bullshit....ponzi is a ponzi is a ponzi...

Not sure, I left IRC after he slowly became more and more idle on them.
I don't think they have internet on the island he is on.  Frankly with that amount of money and his age he better be living in a third world island living off the land because what he took is not allot to live on for the rest of ones life.
190  Economy / Marketplace / Re: ["WAIT LIST"] BFL SC Pre-Order Information on: October 16, 2012, 03:11:18 PM
So with a pair of jalapenos pre-ordered, i can upgrade to a 30GHash device and keep my place in line.  here's where my hatred of math fails me. the cost uplift is around 117% ($312 -> $663 - including shipping), but i'm drawing a blank on calculating the performance increase...9GHash (2 x 4.5GH jalapenos) to 30GH...is what, about 273%? so, just over double the price for almost triple the hashing....?

Just looking for a sanity check here that my math isn't completely farktarded...
The reason for this discrepancy is because they Jalapenos do not have a fan and thus they do not want to push it as much as the units with a fan.  The Jalapenos have a niche market of people who want to try out mining as a cool thing to try out.
Woe there fella, and to warm coffee, lets not forget one of the key selling points.   Grin
Use a stainless steel coffee cup, and the Jalapeno will be the first BFL unit with liquid cooling.

193  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Thermal paste on the 6990 with the Arcticool fan setup. on: October 15, 2012, 02:52:29 AM
So I figured I would ask you all deal with heat and our rigs just running and running.  I have noticed that my video car is runnig a bit hot and I was thinking that the paste may be not as effective as the first application.  Now I will admit that I have never needed to replace paste once if is first applied so I am asking if it is a resonable fix to reapply the paste or a waste of time?  The card seems to be running fine it is just that once and while it will get a bit hot and then shut down.

Any ideas to help would be welcomed,

The boy is 16. I wonder what his parents would say if one called them. It's not like the number isn't easily found. Or his soccer coach. Man, these soccer coaches, they're always up in your face about stuff.

BTW, nice house, Kennard

OH, that is too funny.  Ok, I say we all did a great job calling this guy out.  Its not like he is Pirate40 (wait maybe he is) it was just a simple cut and paste.  I was cool with it until he was posting he was me on BFL forum and then it was a little to odd.

Love you guys and thanks.  By the way I am still posting a video tonight anyways since I shot something that might help me win.

Yes, you should see my hands free setup and it sees future scammer, I hope this guys is on here and I don't think he is, either way watch out because this guy is off and trying to run a scam.
197  Other / Archival / Can you handout a scammer tag before someone posts a scam here? on: October 14, 2012, 06:36:14 PM
So I am having some real fun with this one, some numnuts in the Netherlands is trying to basically say that they are me in a contest held by BFL.  This idiot posted my video and then made comments about it like he lost his account.  Now if he is on here (which I could not find) I think he should get a scammer tag right now but if he is not on here and he joins our bitcoin community I can already vouch this guy is a bag of crap.  Seriously what the hell is this guy thinking and really to chose my crappy video as the one he wanted to use, what a loser.    Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

Here see what this dip shit is writing over at BFL:

198  Other / Off-topic / Re: New SC Little Single better than SC Single ? on: October 14, 2012, 04:44:58 PM
Hi, it seems the new Little Single (30Ghash) is better then the old SC Single 60Ghash, here's why:

1. Better value for money: 1 x 60Ghs Single = $1299, 2 x 30Ghs Singles ($649*2=$1298)
2. Better redundancy: If 1 x 60Ghs Single fails then you are down by 60Ghs, if one of the two 30Ghs Singles fails, then you are down by only 30Ghs
3. Even more redundancy: with 2 x Little SC Singles you get 2 power bricks.

I am personally disappointed that BFL now allows to upgrade the Japaleno orders to Little Singles, but does not allow the Standard Single to be changed into Little Singles orders.

-----------------------------------
Edited the numbers value mistake
-----------------------------------

You are so full of fail.

1) 2 Little Singles vs 1 SC Single is the difference of $1! One freaking dollar over a 1.3K USD investment? Who cares?
2) More parts =/= more redundancy. It just means more points of failure.
3) Same thing. If BFL has a 2% failure rates for their PSUs (I just made that number up), then you're twice as likely to get one that fails.

And as someone else said, you're also now looking at added costs of USB hubs, and space constraints.

By the way didn't BFL just come out and offer lifetime warranties on their gear?  So the fail part of your analysis is not a very big deal?  Also with the bricks, saving power is a big deal and cost item so would you not want to do something like cablez anyways to drop the brick from the device?  Also having one power source and one USB item is less cost power and easier to manage so to save a buck I am not really seeing it.  I think this kind of analysis needs to happen but this is what I am seeing.
199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm Kevin, here's my side. on: October 14, 2012, 03:23:30 PM
You are correct Kevin to take this approach. I believe Mt Gox tried to fuck everyone, especially you.  I believe they may have stolen bitcoins from accounts, then tried to sell them to buy them back up, thus laundering them into their own hands.

That's just my opinion, based on everything I have read and heard so far.

Great so this has gone from investing to gambling where what you had in may get rounded up in your favor or down and your loss.  What a mess.
