How come there's no NFL Pro Bowl odds up? Nor do I see the Super Bowl props you said you were going to have.

We originally didn't plan to cover Pro Bowl, but we do have a few odds for it now. Super Bowl odds will be coming next week.

Has anybody considered offering reduced juice? Possibly even one VIG FREE game of the week? That would be quite the promotion!

That might be too good of a promotion. I don't mind doing coin-flips for a few bitcoins, but if we offered that to all our customers, that could become very expensive for us very quickly, assuming that bets don't distribute evenly.

Posting sports lines isn't an exact science, that's why there has to be some vig involved to ensure that we won't go out of business. Overall I think many of our odds are already much better than our competitors, for example NBA handicaps and over/unders are generally at 1.92/1.92, Player Specials at 1.91/1.91, as far as I know no other sportsbook offers odds that good.

The best promotion I can offer at the moment is that we've upped the NBA score odd/even to 1.99/1.99 for a limited time. So a 1 BTC bet wins 1.99 BTC. That's a better return on investment than Satoshidice, if you just want to give our site a try.

We've updated the site with a more modern look, as well as made many smaller adjustements around the site (and will continue to do so). I think it looks much cleaner now, and the information is easier to find. What do you think?

Of course the NHL season is now here, and we've got plans to cover every game played. You can bet on winners, handicaps, and total goals scored, and we'll have more soon, such as Player Specials for the NHL (Crosby to Score, anyone?).

Sorry for the delay in answers to these...

Perfect. One more thing, the pay address came up as an image on my iPad. I wasnt able to copy it,
I had to manually type it into my wallet.

That's a shame, but unfortunately I don't really know how to work around that problem. You could store the Bitcoin address for the league you want to play on your Bitcoin software so you don't have to type it every time you make a bet. Just make sure that it hasn't changed from time to time (though it will still come through).

Have you though about an NCAA bracket pool?

Thought about it yes, we'll possibly have it in the future but can't make any promises at the moment.

There should be a way to review a bet after placing it. I just placed a tiny wager on the heat tonight and have no way of knowing if I even made the right selection.

Bet selection and bet size are now displayed after submission. Thanks for the suggestion!

I can confirm that there is one submission for Miami to win with -2.5 tonight.
184  Economy / Gambling / Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook on: January 16, 2013, 09:11:26 PM
We now support parlay bets of up to 3 selections, you simply separate your selections with a comma, for example: 1,18,63

Parlay odds can be calculated by multiplying selection odds, for example 1.55 * 2.10 = 3.255. Parlays have to be from one league and different games. This is not the optimal solution but it works for now. We'll continue to work on the site and make it more accessible.
185  Economy / Gambling / Re: elgreco's gambling links on: January 16, 2013, 04:01:37 PM
Unable to access the network??

Works for me and we've been getting hits all day. I don't know if there was any downtime earlier today, but we'll probably have to invest more in bandwidth soon in any case.
186  Economy / Gambling / Re: elgreco's gambling links on: January 16, 2013, 01:17:20 AM
Maybe you could add our site www.blockbet.net to the list, it's really simple to use and minimum bet is just 0.001 BTC. Winners get paid directly to their wallets so there is no register-deposit-withdrawal process at all. Very good for beginners, you can start betting in minutes and quickly increase your bankroll if you win on some of our higher odds.
187  Economy / Gambling / Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook on: January 15, 2013, 05:29:07 PM
We'd like to cover NCAA and tennis games, but for the moment we'll maintain our current selection plus the three leagues we're adding this weekend (NHL, Bundesliga, Africa Cup of Nations). We want to make sure that we don't miss any games from those leagues before adding more. Tennis in particular is problematic because games are played throughout the day and announced match start times usually aren't anywhere close to actual start times. We could probably do major tennis finals, semi- and quarterfinals but no promises on those yet. Also we're still looking into Asian handicaps for soccer.

We've been receiving more bets each day, so I want to thank those already betting with us and encourage more players to give us a try!
188  Economy / Gambling / Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook on: January 14, 2013, 11:35:20 PM
Can you get Asian Handicap odds for soccer matches?

We've got plans to do -0.5, -1.5, -2.5, +0.5, +1.5, +2.5 handicaps for some games, depends on the games. Those odds will be posted closer to game starts. We probably won't do quarter handicaps at the moment.

We now have more proposition bets, for example you can bet on LeBron James to score over 26 points tonight or Cristiano Ronaldo to score a goal tomorrow. NHL season will start this saturday and German Bundesliga will resume this week, and there is also the Africa Cup of Nations starting this weekend. So we have a lot of action coming up!
189  Economy / Gambling / Re: mem's BITCOIN GAMBLING LIST on: January 13, 2013, 10:38:45 PM
Hi mem,

We have a new sports betting site called www.blockbet.net and we hope you could add us to your list. We pay winning bets directly to our customers so there is no deposit/withdraw process. We currently take bets between 0.001 - 9.999 BTC but likely will raise the maximum bet size soon if everything goes well.

You can send me a message if you have any questions.

Thanks for your time,

-Paul

[edit] Not to badmouth the competition, but a lot of those other betting sites aren't working or haven't been updated in a long time.
190  Economy / Gambling / Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook on: January 13, 2013, 10:24:37 PM
Do you have future plans on adding teasers, parlays, or proposition bets? If so, I am willing to risk countless BTC.

We will likely implement two, maybe three selection parlays soon. We probably can't do more because we can't afford to pay gigantic wins if they hit. Also the players will have to calculate the complete odds of parlays themselves. Teasers we can't do at the moment.

We may sometimes have proposition bets but not for every game. We try to pick the most interesting games and players for those. For example, this weekend in soccer we had Van Persie to score (he did) and Messi to score a hat trick (he scored only once). For the Super Bowl and similar events we will certainly have many different bets available.

You might want to submit your site to Mem's list:

Thanks for the tip, will do that.

We got our first bet and first winner last night, somebody put 7.00 BTC on Miami Heat to win with -7.5 points, and came away with 13.44 BTC. Miami won the game 128 - 99.

Also we got a request for NFL spreads, we've got them now for todays games and all future NFL games.

Hi folks,

I'd like to let you know about our new Bitcoin sports betting site www.blockbet.net and invite you to try out sports betting with us.

We've been working really hard on the site these past few weeks and while there's still a lot of work to be done, I'm happy to say that betting works as intended, and while the interface isn't anything fancy, it should at least be clear and simple to use. We update our selections and odds many times per day, as well as handle payouts quickly.

We don't ask our customers to register, and we're not interested in holding on to their bitcoins. You make a bet using the easy to understand form, pay your bet to the provided address, and if your bet wins you get paid directly to your (or any) Bitcoin wallet. I believe that our betting odds are quite fair in comparison to many other sportsbooks around the Internet and competition can only be good for the industry.

At the moment we have NBA, NFL and NHL games and European football leagues, as well as international competitions. I know there's a lot of suspicion towards new Bitcoin businesses, so people feel free to start betting at 0.001 BTC to see how it works and never bet any more than you can afford to. I hope you guys take a moment to have a look around the site, and we would definitely love to hear your feedback through the Contact Us form or this forum.

There are a lot of Americans on this forum, are you familiar with the decimal odds that we use? It's very simple, you just multiply your bet with your odds to get your possible winnings, like 3 BTC * 2.10 = 6.30 BTC. You should also note that we always list the home team first, this is so that we have a universal system that applies to all games on the site.

We're open to requests about which leagues you would like to see, but at the moment we're focused on bringing you all the games from the biggest leagues around the world. We want to establish the core functionality first and then slowly add features without breaking anything, so stay tuned for updates and if you have any ideas they're more than welcome!

I'm here to answer your questions and talk about whatever. We hope that you like our site and we're very excited to be taking your bets!

-Paul from BlockBet.net

[edit] Update April 21, 2013:

Alright guys, I think the time time has come for me to retire Blockbet. Obviously with the NBA and NHL heading into the playoffs and soccer leagues with their summer breaks, there will be less games to cover over the summer, and I've made nothing but losses on baseball up to this point.

It's been a great experience and a lot of fun, but it's also been a full-time job with no days off, so a small break from everything will be welcome. Also the sportsbook game is a lot more crowded than it used to be, and let's face it, some of these new guys can offer more features than we do. I knew from the start that it won't take too long for guys with more technical knowledge and more time to invest to come along, and I wish nothing but good luck for them. The sportsbooks offerings are now a lot stronger that what they used to be, and I'm glad to have been a part of that process.

I'm gonna stay involved with Bitcoin, I have a lot of faith in the currency. I also have a couple of other ideas that I want to work on, and I can't do that with Blockbet taking so much of my time at the moment. Hopefully one of those ideas will some day become bigger than what Blockbet could ever dream of being!

I'll get to work on payouts from yesterday in a moment. Outstanding NBA bets (playoff series starting later today) will be returned. After that I'll probably shut down the site (server rent is almost finished anyway) and lock the thread.

It's been a crazy ride with a lot of ups and downs, peaks and valleys, and a valuable learning process. So with that, I want to thank everybody for their support. Thanks for playing!

-Paul

Update: Site is now closed. Thank you for your support.

Hi everyone, Coinster.info is a new search engine, the world's first specifically for crypto-currencies like Bitcoin.

Sure, I'll give it a try while I wait for my 4 hour Newbie restriction to get lifted and the Broncos game to start Tongue

That's a pretty good idea, I haven't yet found out too many places where I could easily advertise, even Google pushes my site behind some news sites doing articles about Bitcoin that are of no interest to anyone Tongue Plus it's kind of difficult to find local services that accept Bitcoin anyway.

Submitted my site, good luck with your venture and hope to find some good stuff over there in the near future!
195  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: January 12, 2013, 07:46:29 PM
I don't mind this system at all. This seems to be a very popular forum and I can understand why they're doing this. Nobody ever thinks of himself as a newbie, I certainly didn't, but now that I've been browsing the forum I actually have read a couple of things that I didn't know before.

4 hours is something you can get done in one evening. I registered about 2 hours ago and I'm already halfway done. The bigger issue is the post count, I don't really have any questions to ask and there seem to be plenty of answers on every established topic, so I'm stuck making pretty much useless posts... like this one.

Stay strong brothers and sisters, we'll get through this! It'll be worth it!

Hello,

I am the owner of www.blockbet.net which is an up-and-coming online sports betting site that operates only using Bitcoin. We've been working really hard on the site these past few weeks and while there's still a lot of work to be done, I'm happy to say that betting works as intended and while the interface isn't anything fancy, it should be very simple to use. We update our selections and odds many times per day, as well as handle payouts.

We don't ask our customers to register, and we're not interested in holding on to their bitcoins. You make a bet using the (hopefully) easy to understand form, pay your bet with bitcoins, and if your bet wins you get paid directly to your (or any) Bitcoin wallet. I believe that our betting odds are quite fair in comparison to many other sportsbooks around the Internet and competition can only be good for the industry.

At the moment we have NBA, NFL, KHL games and European football leagues. NHL games will be featured as soon as the season finally starts. I know there's a lot of suspicion towards new Bitcoin businesses, so people feel free to start betting at 0.001 BTC to see how it works and never bet any more than you can afford to. I hope you guys take a moment to have a look around the site, and would definitely love to hear your feedback through the Contact Us form or this forum.

Personally I feel that I know enough about Bitcoin and I'm really itching to leave the Newbie section behind and get my hands on your Gambling forum Smiley

Thank you for your time,

-Paul

ps. Ravens vs Broncos, as well as Clippers vs Magic, starting in a few hours Wink
197  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can anyone suggest a good web based bitcoin wallet? on: January 12, 2013, 04:59:38 PM
Yeah blockchain seems to be the best option for now. I'd still recommend keeping only as much as you need there and storing the rest of your bitcoins offline in an encrypted wallet or file.
198  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: January 12, 2013, 04:11:59 PM
Hi folks, I'm Paul, and I joined this site in order to advertise my new Bitcoin sports betting site, but since I'm being contained in the Newbies-section for now, I guess I'll start here. Maybe get a deeper understanding of the Bitcoin community in the process.

I'm a big sports fan, as you can guess, and very excited about the NHL season finally getting started next week. I've been messing around with Bitcoin for about 6 months now, and been working on my site for about a month. Still a lot of work to be done on the looks and the feel of the site, but the core functionality is there, betting works!

I'll do my advertising elsewhere, just a heads up that if you only have a few coins in your wallet, our minimum bets start at 0.001 BTC and there are a lot of good odds available for the weekend Smiley For example Falcao's hat trick tomorrow would net you back your investment 9.75 times... The url is http://www.blockbet.net and that's it for the advertising!

Glad to see such a vibrant community here, and I really hope that we can make Bitcoin the future of payments and money. Banks are so last millenium, right?

Nice to meet you all, have a great year 2013 despite the unlucky number! Wink
