When I decided to build my mining rig, I tried to be very clear on what the rig earned and what I had before building the rig.
I promised myself that I will replace the fiat I spent as soon as the rig reaches ROI.
It did in May 2013, 40 BTC, and I sold it, and was content that I now had the mining rig and the bank balance was back at where it was before I got started.
In hindsight, I should have kept the money in that 40 BTC since it turned out the fiat would just sit there in the account.... earning 1% interest....
PS. I still have the rig and it has ROIed a few more times since May.

It's not a matter of IQ. It just requires a quite large background knowledge, if you don't have those information you just need some time to understand all the subsystems involved. Knowing them, it becomes really simple and easy to understand how Bitcoin works.
This. One needs to know among other things: -What is money, (I was talking to a guy about this and he went into an infinite loop explaining back to me how he is legally entitled to a 1 dollar bill upon producing a 1 dollar bill at the bank because it has "I promise to pay the bearer 1 dollar" written on it.) -What is the current monetary system, fractional reserve banking, central banking, Hows, whys and whats of QEs, etc etc -Cryptography, at least the idea that some things are hard to make but easy to verify. -Decentralisation, the blockchain, why bitcoins cannot be forged or printed.

Hey, more users=more adoption right? People have to OWN BTC to use them. If they think that they are overpriced they will never buy them or use them.
It can only help the price go up! You're clearly in it only for the USD value, no need to deny it. Else why care about the price at all? I think we all believe bitcoin to be a better store of value and a better currency than USD, so we expect bitcoin's value to go up against the USD and we hope more people adopt it. Why else would we store our wealth in bitcoin? Who cares about USD anyway?

![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) Impressive. They took some bitcoin facts, put it in a blender with 500g of salt, 300g of pepper, 100g of ponzi dust, 100g pyramid ground and a whole cup of pixie sparkles, then they switched on the blender. They actually got some of the history wrong. It was Nikola Tesla who invented Bitcoin, Thomas Edison merely stole the idea. Then Tesla created Litecoin to compete with what Edison stole from him, I look forward to seeing a video on that. I think some people are going to fall for this. They are going to buy the books and possibly buy some "bitcoins", whenever that is they are selling. Free market....

I would vote no. But having heard about your 30K LTC I am feeling jelly... 30K? at 16?! ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) It looks like fees aren't going to be a problem if you decide you want to go to college anyway in a few years time. I am still going to vote no. Simran stays.

MarkM have made the fix to the source, so any future builds should be fine. Whoever built the windows client probably did not have those two faulty checkpoints, or they removed/updated them before building. Because of the low diff, you need to scan the client frequently for new blocks. In any case, you should set the scantime to 1 for local clients to make sure the miner and the client are in sync as much as possible. This applies to any coins. In cgminer you either set it in the command line when you start, or you press S to go into settings, then S for setting scan time.

Agreed and agreed with casino and pizzas ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) . Also, Tesla71, Have you set your scantime to 1 second? This is the interval cgminer scans the pool/client for new blocks. It defaults to 60.

|
Yes.
Tesla71, BBQCoin uses scrypt like Litecoin. You need to use Reaper or --scrypt with cgminer.
