183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][VRM] Verium PoWT Reserve | Verium testnet live now! on: August 24, 2016, 04:43:56 PM
We are preparing a fresh testnet, with optimized parameters and bugs squashed. We are also setting up a dns-seeder on second testnet to aid with connectivity. If all goes well this be the final parameters for mainnet Verium which will be launched after we run some tests on second testnet. This we be a fresh testnet chain, so if you want to try to mine on it again you are welcome. New wallets will be posted with these final parameters on vericoin.info/ico.html when they are ready. Key parameter change that will effect mining is we are dropping the memory requirement from 256MB to 128MB, to support older and hyperthreaded systems, speed syncing and loading the block index. This is still a very hard memory so won't advantage gpus or asics in any significant way.
As a reference this likely final memory requirement is exactly 1000x more memory hard than standard scrypt. So we may end up calling it mega-scrypt.
in this context standard scrypt would be kilo-scrypt
standard scrypt is 128kb memory requirement

The way you mention very hard for GPU's to mine, is this a reference meaning this could be mined with GPU's currently?
Will there be pools for this or just solo mining via the wallet only?

Well. ocminer, your hash calculation on pool was perfect. I had 23.5mh/s in sgminer and 20-25 at pool, normal hr fluctuation. After your first changes it was smth like 40mh/s on pool. Now it is swinging: 25-33-36mh/s
did you say Sgminer? which gpu?
380X@1100/1500
would you mind sharing how you got it working and where the files are, even thought I don't have an AMD card, but the dev can post it on OP

Diff. 400  Cheesy
I suppose the price for it goes up to keep up with the inflation :-)

Also one weird thing. The hashrates reported by the miners are pretty random. On one run it reports 5.4~5.5, on another it reports 5.0, try it again and it reports 4.2. You just have to restart it again and again until you see 5.4 Undecided like a dice roll. And then on the pool side it's actually reporting 5.4 ish. Quite funny.

I've seen this weird behavior too, on Win and Linux too.

Which miner on windows are you both mining on?

Would be rly nice to see this coin on exchange...some smaller exchange @ first step
Buy like I did from others here before its traded at an exchange when the price goes up, seen couple of people posted here who are selling already.

I think the going rate now is 0.000100 per VLT, as its seems to have been the most interesting coin to mine and at the currently difficulty and how hard it was to mine , having some of the most seasoned coders and miners involved.
imo.
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Veltor [∀] : For All on: August 20, 2016, 06:15:37 AM
So has any of the first miners seen their coins mature yet ? if so how long did it take to come into your wallet from the pool and also sending it to another wallet?
193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Veltor [∀] : For All on: August 18, 2016, 12:54:20 AM
I am using ccminer now. The error I got before isn't showing up anymore, now it tries to mine and I even see myself in the pool but I get this error. Is the difficulty too high for my crappy gpu card?

"reject reason: low difficulty share of......."

Did you use the miner linked on the front page?
Its modded specifically for Thor's Riddle.

J.V.

No but I can't get the modded one to work at all. I create the a .dat file but it says "ccminer" is not recognised as command

C:\Path\To\cgminer\cgminer.exe

You need to use the full path on windows.

J.V.

I get this with cgminer  Huh

I think the dev meant to say ccminer, not cgminer.
194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Veltor [∀] : For All on: August 17, 2016, 09:41:19 PM
cmon can't someone share ccminer windows build ?

Already one person has more than 25 percent of the coin, nobody wants to share, so the only 4 miners have 100% percent of the coin so far :-)

When I tried to compile with MS Visual Studio 2013 , I get the following error
C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft.Cpp\v4.0\V120\Microsoft.Cpp.Platform.targets(64,5): error MSB8020: The build tools for v140 (Platform Toolset = 'v140') cannot be found. To build using the v140 build tools, please install v140 build tools.  Alternatively, you may upgrade to the current Visual Studio tools by selecting the Project menu or right-click the solution, and then selecting "Upgrade Solution...".
========== Build: 0 succeeded, 2 failed, 0 up-to-date, 0 skipped ==========

But When I ran 2015, was not able to compile at all.

Hmm looks pretty obvious.
You need to install v140 build tools.

J.V.

It was with v140 build tools, restarted the pc and works, but now giving me numerous errors to list here.

I just would like to know if anybody was able to compile in Windows either the CPU or GPU miner?
196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner & ccMiner CUDA based mining applications [Windows/Linux/MacOSX] on: August 17, 2016, 09:29:20 PM
Can someone please help compile this miner please
https://github.com/ocminer/ccminer-veltor

I tried as per the instructions from the OP and failed with both MS Visual Studio 2013 and 2015.
Cheers

getting this error trying to compile with MS visual Studio community edition 2015
Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft.Cpp\v4.0\V140\BuildCustomizations\CUDA 7.5.props" was not found

I had installed this and can't, I am new and learning how to compile and in the cuda thread how to mine, all is for the older visual compiler which is not available to download.

Did you install CUDA 7.5?

J.V.
Yes I did, also messed up my drivers at the same time :-)

Thanks for the slides, I just want to understand if this is insurance platform for the exchanges and such or also for individual crypto currency investors.
