181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Auroracoin may be the most exciting altcoin of 2014 on: February 22, 2014, 08:51:40 AM
What makes aurora interesting is not only is it putting the coin in people's hands directly, which not many alts have done if any, its also giving the coins real world value before doing so.  So you already have a head start since the trust that it has value is already there.  Assuming a high percentage of Icelanders will be able to comprehend what they get.

Another benefit is that the Auroracoin won't be held by a bunch of greedy geeks who pump it and run away like all other cryptocurrencies.
Its going to be more "equal" and spread through a large number of people. even then the bitcoin is held by a minority.

182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Auroracoin may be the most exciting altcoin of 2014 on: February 21, 2014, 10:31:47 AM
Zimbabwe is another place where something like this could work, their economy has gone down hill big time over the last decade, time to replace those 1 trillion dollar notes with a cryptocurrency!

There are so many failing economies around the world Smiley what about Argentina? Cyprus?
Iceland has small population (almost a community), very technological loving environment,  and access to the internet. Simply the best ground the start this kind of a project.
183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AURORA COIN an undervalued coin with great opportunity ! on: February 21, 2014, 09:53:08 AM
Is this the real deal? If Iceland does essentially replace their currency with AUR (meaning 51% or more), does that mean the marketcap of the AUR will be equal to 51% of all the currency they now have in circulation? How much currency do they have in circulation right now (in USD value, obviously)?
Well their GDP is approximately twice the marketcap of bitcoin.  So you heard it here first gentlemen, buy now before it hits 2 BTC/AUR!

According to the current price (that is very volatile lol) - 1 AUR coin = 4 USD
10,500,000 x 4 USD = 42,000,000 USD market value
184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Auroracoin facebook campaign on: February 21, 2014, 09:46:35 AM
In order to get our Auroracoin project successful we need to get in-touch with most of the 300k residents
We found out that most of them use facebook on regular basis so we just launched yesterday a Facebook campaign that is starting to show results

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AionVKBBS8n5dERabkpRVUNtWlBjOEFxMGlfWmM0N0E#gid=0

1)We want to make the Icelandic people aware of their birthright to claim free pre-mined coins

2)We try to make the crypto community supportive to allow us growing

If you would like to donate for our advertising campaign please send btc to this address 1MVYdtxHbawC2CDyjQxn1hvkSyyfGbk7Jp

186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Auroracoin may be the most exciting altcoin of 2014 on: February 20, 2014, 10:22:19 PM
Unless this coin is released by Icelandic devs and supporters, you guys don't see a problem of foreigners feeling entitled to replace the currency of Iceland?

You also don't see a problem of foreigners pumping-and-dumping a national currency on an exchange? Also, who said Icelanders want to get rid of the government they elected?
Auroracoin gives them CHOICE.  If they choose not to adopt it, that's fine.  If they like the idea and utilize it, fantastic.

As for foreigners trading others' currency, it is done to the tune of trillions of dollars a day on the forex markets.

And nobody ever said anything about getting rid of their government.
So, you don't see the irony, neither you're interested in directly addressing the points?

Very well. Let's hope this is INDEED the best for Icelanders, not a "rat's lab" experiment.

I also hope its not a rat's lab, there is a need to be very careful with a coin that has high volatility, thats why I dont see this coin replacing the Krona soon, BUT it will put a lot of pressure on the Icelandic government not to inflate and print money because Icelanders will have the opportunity to buy and hold AUR.
187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AURORA COIN an undervalued coin with great opportunity ! on: February 20, 2014, 09:10:06 PM
Network is now over 1.6 Gh/s !!

you can buy aur here https://www.cryptorush.in/index.php?p=trading&m=AUR&b=BTC

Do you wanna come late ?

Isnt it strange coin with 20 pages of topic, 2 weekss old has steady price up and 1.6Gh/s network?

So far Auroracoin shows nice trading volume at "Cryptorush.in" and increased mining difficulty as well

190  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NEW Thread PMtoCoins.com Altcoin Exchange on: February 16, 2014, 12:58:31 PM
Auroracoin exchange could be useful
191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: February 12, 2014, 03:47:31 PM
I believe it has great potential.

A combination of a good Idea, High inflation, high media coverage and small technology loving population -> Iceland is the perfect place to start such an experiment.
I wonder if the Icelandic people will adopt it?  how the Icelandic government will react if it will really catches on?

Anyways, goodLuck. I bought few at 0.008btc a piece which feels a bit pricey but I truly believe in it. I cross my fingers for you guys Smiley
192  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC diluted,possible scenario? on: November 26, 2013, 09:06:49 AM
It is all about growth and not about price...

Bitcoin can be divided into really small "cents", a person doesn't need to hold and trade a whole bitcoin, he can buy and trade with parts of it.
193  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: price diff in excahnges on: November 20, 2013, 10:28:09 AM

I do take advantage of that.  Smiley But I can't do Yuan, I have only USD and EUR.

How do you, without a mainland China bank account?

Paitence... eventually every arbitrage is getting closed
buy bitcoins at a regular exchange
move them to btc china
sell them for yuan

when the arbitrage is closed
buy btc at btc china
move them to regular exchange
cash them
and you got a really nice profit

The risks are for the difference to go grow bigger
btc china to go bankrupt
China goverment can make up some evil regulations (and maybe there will be even a negative arbitrage!!! Smiley)
194  Economy / Economics / mtgox and bitstamp have similar rate on: November 20, 2013, 10:21:57 AM
Does anyone know why the arbitrage got closed?

edit : sorry posted it in the wrong forum (should have been at trading)
195  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How and where to cashout some of my bitcoins on: November 19, 2013, 06:48:46 AM
The only way to get your funds out of Gox at the moment in a finite (< 6 months+) timeframe is to pay the 5% manual processing fee for expedited withdrawal. Even this takes as long as a month. At current prices $100 is not so much more than 5%.

even if I use Non-US bank account?
If it is like this... why people actually use it as a trading platform?
196  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How and where to cashout some of my bitcoins on: November 19, 2013, 05:59:04 AM
Cashing out with coinbase has been a breeze for me. Did it for the 200btc I sold a few weeks back.

well yeah, but currently there is almost 100$ difference per bitcoin between gox and coinbase... im not sure im willing to give up on that
197  Economy / Trading Discussion / How and where to cashout some of my bitcoins on: November 19, 2013, 05:45:39 AM
Hey guys!
Although I'm a big bitcoin fan... I would like to cash-out a portion of my holdings

I have a verified mtgox account, coinbase account and I live in the U.S
(I don't know if it helps but I have Australian bank account as well)

I see that there are a lot of exchanges with different rates and I would like to know what restrictions they have? (can I withdraw the all amount from gox directly to my bank account in the U.S?) can I transfer the bitcoins to btcchina and ask for a wiretransfer?

Thanks for the help!
