181  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: April 26, 2024, 08:38:11 PM
Although there is a lot of disgust in Jake, he may actually win this fight because of his youth. Boxing is best when a person is young but for Mike at his age, that knuckle of him is likely in the most brittle condition. Once he throws a large uppercut, he will feel it and will likely not do it again. And he must felt it already during the sparring before the fight.

There is a huge chance that Jake is going to win this fight actually. Since it is not a real professional fight, nobody needs brutality and injuries in it. The goal if this fight is to show fans Tyson in the ring once again (maybe for the last time), for sponsors to flash again on the screens, for boxing to become more popular, for Jake to earn and face legacy. That is why there is a chance, that due to youth, Jake would get Mike with a good punch, Mike gets shaken, and the ref will stop the fight. Even though Mike will be ready to continue.

The best part of this is that Mike gets fit again and has training while making money out of it is one sweet deal. Regardless of the result, it's a win for him, and maybe this training will add 30 more years of his life.

The sad part of professional sport is that it steals years. That professional boxing career might have stolen 20 years of Mikes life, but his training got him 10 back. That is just random numbers. But injuries and pushing body always on max never do well for length of life.

No I'm gunna go ahead and say there's a good amount of us that need to see brutality and injury lol.  Look I don't want anyone getting seriously injured, just hurt bad enough that they quite "boxing" and are embaressed so badly that they also ruin their careers of, um, their careers of ahhhhh, ummm..wtf is it that they do again, these Logan brothers?  Man to be a social media millionaire, I guess I could live with being a douchebag too if it brought me that kind of money and fame (women).

Go get him Tyson!

Still kind of amazes me how many people are always out to see Lebron fall down.  I think at this point in his career, unless he's playing against your squad, it's important to appreciate and take in all that has truly been a unique elite force.  I once was like a lot of people and looked to throw stones at his glass house just to watch is crumble down, but learned to appreciate what a true legend/baller/great father he really was.

That said, I wouldn't bet on em again this year no matter what.  Prob out of it after Saturday.

I'm not sure there was a single sole on the planet that understood what the heck was going on with the Falcons last night.  Talk about coming out of no where.

In other news, for a Bears fan such as myself..I'll never have that feeling again at a draft.  At least for the evening, I got to dream like no other, got the guys I wanted, I mean the #1 pick in a year where the QB class is strong and you needed one.  Then getting on of the 3 stud WRs, this team is just getting more exciting by the day.  It's a very unfamiliar feeling.  Cheers to ya'll.  Have a good weekend!

As a collectibles sub nerd for nearly a decade...we get noobs (day 1 noobs) who say stuff like "been just lurking for years and decided to sign up today".  It's kinda creepy, but an important lesson in privacy.  I won't go in to detail, but Loyce always stressing privacy to me...well, I get it. Fully..now  Angry   Scammers can get much about you without the need to sign up too, and they will find this forum, that you can be sure of.

I have a difficult task when scam busting/showing findings in that it's a catch 22...good for the community, and bad.  Both helps and simultaneously teaches scammers.  ( I like to write them little vulgar love notes from time to time at the end of my posts, as I know they are always watching closely).
185  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Physical items, coins etc.. || Issue related question ??! on: April 25, 2024, 12:03:48 AM
^ Seems like weak reasoning to me. Anyone could get an address from another user or buy a coin and do it so not publishing a list actually solves nothing at all. Certainly buying a coin that you’ll empty is cheaper than manufacturing coins and holograms, which has a high cost. It would be 10000x easier and cheaper to buy a Casascius coin and compromise the hologram, then reattach and sell, draining the funds in transit than to try and manufacture one from scratch using a found address. I also don’t think manufactured fakes are a realistic concern when buying from trusted individuals, which should always be the case. However, what is a real concern is makers like yogg or hodl having coins that should be funded which aren’t. We know this because of the addresses. There are also users who don’t post their list of addresses because they lack basic skills, foresight, or they are inflating their sales numbers to try and dupe potential buyers. All red flags. Whoever told you otherwise is likely grasping at straws because they’re guilty of one of the 3 options I just listed.

Respectfully disagree bud.

I gotta ask though, if it’s not a big deal, privacy wise, why cover the first bits ?

Edit: also, just thinking...not keeping them private allows for dust.  So, just all reasons I'm against it. I certainly understand both sides of things, but I just see things differently than I use to due to all these different factors. It’s a tough conversation really as both sides just want what’s best.
186  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "Jontay Porter receives lifetime ban from NBA for violating gambling rules" on: April 24, 2024, 07:42:25 PM
"My thought". The NBA definitely chose the right player to make an example of in this matter. It brought the message/warning across, and it didn't give them a hard decision because he isn't a player whose name is spelled L-E-B-R-O-N. Because if it was actually a player such as Lebron or one of those "highly-endorsed" players, then we could truly expect the NBA to hide this matter from the public, OR  have the player make a "public apology" + a suspension, but not a life-time ban.
I think all NBA players are still popular because all are good players but there are only some who excels a little than the rest and they do because they prove they can. They are most importantly honest about their plays but I think NBA won't give an exception even to them once proven guilty of getting involved in such act.

They need to be fair and transparent or else their reputation is the ones who will get affected and many people won't support them anymore. Doing such disciplinary measures is great, so that there will be no or there are only less players who will attempt of committing such act. I'm sure most players will choose both fame and money over money only and get a bad name.

Trust me if you're a big enough name you can get about anything swept under the rug. The most infamous murder trial in US history is one where former HOF legendary NFL RB killed his wife, her bf, drove his white ford bronco on a high speed chase (after the cops had been called to his home on domestic violence disputes 9 times previously), and he was found not guilty. He was, in fact, 1 zillion percent guilty and everyone knows it. Yes this guy wasn't a current player but it's just the most infamous example of athletes getting free passes. He just died, and good riddance to him. ( I doubt I have to say his name for most to know whom I speak of).

Kobe Bryant potentially raped a woman & he was back in the league in no time. It's pretty damming too - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobe_Bryant_sexual_assault_case

Adrian Peterson, one of the best RBs of all time, beat his child (and later caught doing it again), but was back in the league in no time- https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2014/09/12/the-details-of-adrian-petersons-arrest-are-disturbing/

Tyreek Hill, former Chiefs now Dolphins super star WR had audio recording admitting he beat his wife and child, Floydd Mayweather, same thing (not to mention Floyd had been a part of so many ponzi schemes it's not even funny, but gets no jail time and back to fighting like they never happened, over and over again (big crypto scam promoter too).  So in sports, where BILLIONS of dollars are on the line, money often trumps justice if you're good enough.  Just a few examples of MANY!

If you're not that great, you get this kind of punishment (see MLB player Addison Russel for another example).
187  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Claw Machines: a category of gambling? on: April 24, 2024, 07:18:06 PM
Absolutely 100% they are.  Just like most gambling the house is stacked against you, and they're cheating, but you do have the chance to win money, even bitcoin lol..like - https://www.youtube.com/shorts/bIQmooFB9fg  and another lol https://www.youtube.com/shorts/SwgqQXZ2BtE

Even those coin push machines are considered a form of gambling, and you can even win bitcoin doing so with these lol ( though I don't condone the cheating)- https://youtu.be/Y-cGfaPUXNQ?si=AtVeW94A4CuwBGL8 and a few others https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5_sbDsreyM  , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xhBq0sbHOI

No different than playing bingo, or credit card roulette when out to eat for dinner with friends...if you're risking something with the potential to win more, break even or lose, it's all a gambling game.

189  Economy / Economics / Re: What scares me from investing in gold. on: April 23, 2024, 03:45:46 PM
The best way to buy gold is OTC (over the counter) is you can.  Regular bullion you should be able to trade someone OTC for right at spot price. That is a win for both the buyer and seller (btw the collectibles section here is a great way to buy precious metals OTC). Coins are a different story, but you might also be able to the same (OTC/no fees).

When buying online, you want to look at all the major exchanges like Apmex or JM Bullion, and just compare who's got the cheapest price.  Also, it doesn't matter if Costco would buy it back.  Plenty of other avenues to sell it.
190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People have a complete misunderstanding of Bitcoin. on: April 23, 2024, 03:41:44 PM
From what I've found, the vast majority of people whom own bitcoin simply do so for "profits".  I even see a lot of that here.  From day one what made the most sense to me was to study it, and how it functions.  I can't imagine investing my money in something and not having done any research on it.

The problem is people just want to make money. Well, most. But I'm not sure how we can make any changes with that.
191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich or poor gambler, who should risk more? on: April 23, 2024, 03:38:32 PM
You're right when you made mention that gambling is an activity for fun and has the chance of making an individual a fortune, but I hope you also acknowledge the fact that it could also ruin and individual's fortune as well. It's two sided, either you profit or lose from it and every gambler should always have that in mind and not always look only on the bright side. Their are some risks that are not worth taken but one would be shock how risk when calculated could yield them good profits.

Well whether  rich or poor one must take risk in life but what differentiate both is the ability to succeed. Just  like you made mention that a rich man could take risk and become poor, viceversa likewise a poor man but I agree with you that the rich man  has better chances of survival or recovering from his lose  from risk taking in gambling compared to a poor man. But whether poor or rich an individual must have backup incase the lose from the risk they're taking.
It's actually true mate, people that doesn't have much money should not risk much money on gamble or most investments that's not worth risking money on. It doesn't matter if you have money for not, just know when and what to invest on if you have the money or not. Everybody with their spending limits, because every gamble can gamble according to how much they have on their bank spending accounts. As gambling is, it can be fun and it can also ruins someone's life at same time. As a gambler always know what's ahead and not what within, it's risky and there's fun, one shouldn't because of fun and get addicted to gamble.

You're right.  People whom are poor shouldn't spend a single cent on gambling/lotto tickets etc.  It is an INSANELY poor "investment".  I can't stress enough how bad of a decision this is.  It's one of two "practices" that I see lower class citizens doing that make me cringe. The other is using Coinstar machines.  Both are just not smart moves . especially if you're not very wealthy.
192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the biggest mistakes made by beginners in online gambling? How can they on: April 23, 2024, 03:31:47 PM
There's going to be a lot of different things you'll need to take in to account.  First off, make sure you're going with a legitimate company.  There's a lot of shitty ones out there.  Then make sure they have the type of games you like.  I always go with casinos that have both traditional games (poker, roulette etc) as well as sports betting.  Also keep in mind a lot of them will give you a decent bonus when your first sign up..so something to look for.

I have to be honest, I really don't have much excitement for the playoffs and championships.  Might be the first time where I just utterly didn't care what so ever.  I will still be betting a few games, just because I like a little action, but I dunno, just seem like a weird year for the NBA.

I'm curious what you guys think about Kyrie being left off the US Olympic team?

Maybe yes or no on this matter. It’s subjective because there’s rules about this specific matter which even popular names are not exempted to the punishment especially if there’s a player already received punishment on same violation.

I doubt popular player will do idiotic move like this because they already have enough salary and good career. Only minor role player can be tempted to this since they feel that their salary is not worthy while they don’t enjoy the game that much because they have few ball time.

But if Lebron caught doing this. The public will surely enraged if the punishment is not the same to Porter.

Please get the context.

I didn't say Lebron would do something like that. I'm merely saying that, in general, if someone becomes popular enough I believe that it would be very hard for the NBA to make the unpopular decision even if the person deserves it. Jontay Porter is the best situation for the NBA because they can make an example of him, and it would absolutely be NOT a loss to ban him from playing in the NBA for life.

Oh I completely agree so I guess I got confused by what you were saying.  There’s no chance that Adam Silver would ever ban Lebron unless he was publicly caught doing something pretty bad. There’s a few players like that, which are damn near untouchable (if they didn’t get publicly caught), of course.  I love Lerbon, and this is partly why, he’s never put himself in that kind of spot.

Such information being leaked can lead to a great loss for a company, which is against betting ethics, so he deserves what he got. If it were even possible, whatever was won by those who placed bets on that particular game should have been placed on him to receive a refund.
Though what he did was wrong by betting on same NBA games, and most especially his team, which is against the NBA rules, but I'm sure by now he must have learnt his lessons and willing to make amends, as a temporal ban would have been okay than a lifetime NBA permanent ban and a six years imprisonment for violating the NBA rules, which kind of seems harsh. But however, this should act as an example to many NBA players not to mess with the rules.

However, in regards to your suggestion above, I think it will be unfair to place whatever amount that was won by the leaked information on him for refund, because from information I was able to get from online, I was made to understand that the the bet was placed by the leaked information (i.e $80k to win $1.1 million) was frozen, which means the leaked information was useless simply because they are yet to have access to the fund.

Who said anything about a 6 year jail sentence? He likely won’t serve any time at all. Being expelled from the NBA is 100% justified. For those that don’t think so, I’m not sure they understand that the what he did was far beyond just betting on games.

My days of scam busting are coming to an end. It’s time consuming and my love for the hobby isn’t there any more.

However for these fucks, making a special exception..

Lies. No social media banned them. None, ever. Here’s their instagram page still up and active (. https://www.instagram.com/texitcoin?igsh=MTM4M2c5Y3RlcjRvcw== ) , renamed from cold storage coins to Texitcoin. Surely their next bs “project”. The irony, the coin reads “You may all go to Hell, and I will go to TexitCoin”. If anyone’s going to hell, first off. Also, what a ridiculously stupid “moto”. Not sure what they’re aiming at here. Will dig in to see if they actually creating a “textit” shitcoin.

Also, they claim to have moved operations from Singapore to Texas, hence “Texit” name. Just more smoke and mirrors, changing of things to avoid being shut down or jailed.  They claim they built a company building there. Their listed Texas address shows a farm house of some sort. Anyone live in Texas wanna make a trip ?

True to their scam business model history, they issue a nonsensical apology. They state they got busy and distracted, but then say immediately after that  “we decided best to hang on the sidelines and give the industry time to evolve and mature”  I made up better worded excuses in pre-school.

Then state their coins held up to perfection over that time. Two posts above show these are some of the worst security holograms money can buy. All one has to do is rub the outside rim of the holo with an eraser which reveals the private key. I imagine heat of some sort could likely raise the holo up enough to make it look like the keys had always been safe and snug. Not to mention they’ve got complaints on every single outlet their on like crazy stating the coins they put on them were taken or unredeemable.

Their mission today they say is solely focused on cold storage coins. But a few hours ago posted about their hearts and tales company being in Singapore working on sales deals for their Roman Booteen Banksy coin

Scammers calling out scammers to finish it off.

“New branding to reflect our modern identity”…Xfinity is still shitfy scamming Comcast, VOYA is still ING, common tactic to fool people.

Pretty clear most of yall didn’t read the story.

disclosing confidential information to sports bettors, limiting his own participation in one or more games for betting purposes

The NBA's investigation found that Porter purposely limited his participation in the Raptors' March 20 game against the Sacramento Kings specifically to influence the outcome of one or more bets on his performance. Against the Nets, Porter claimed he felt ill after playing just three minutes.

NBA also found that prior to the game, Porter disclosed confidential information about his health status to "an individual he knew to be an NBA bettor." A different individual associated with Porter also bet that Porter would underperform March 20 as part of an $80,000 parlay the bettor placed with an online sports book.

he did bet on the Raptors to lose as part of three different parlay bets”

AND he made some non-personally/team related bets quite a few times on top of that stuff.

If he goes to jail at all, hes got a potential familiar bunk mate in his brother (not the NBA player) who was sentenced to 6 years in prison for DUI manslaughter the day he got his ban. What a mess for their parents, though typical the apple doesn’t fall very far

Lebron aren't gonna do that stupid thing, he is making a lot of money in the NBA and he is making his legacy, one mistake that like that will eliminate all the success he work hard from the very beginning. Let's admit it, after Kobe Bryant, it's currently Lebron James who are considered as the best player in the NBA although he is already aging, he is a living legend that is still playing actively and producing like he didn't get old.

The NBA can make a lot of story for Lebron, and that would result to money,.. so speculations that NBA might hide it, that could be possible but it's not necessary to reach at that level since Lebron is not gonna do that.

Lebron is the second best player ever imo. Kobe top 4-6. Second best shooting guard ever. But I’m not sure how even young kids who didn’t see MJ play and grew up idolizing Lebron are blind to the numbers that MJ put together, outweighing Lebron and Kobe. It’s not a stretch to say had MJ not taken time off he’d have had at least 1 more championship and possibly/more probable than not imo, two more.

Talking character, MJ was an asshole to his teammates, not the greatest guy all around in general and Kobe was pretty similar. Kobe also had his scandals. Lebron, class act through and through. Def a better player than MJ was in his final years, but Lebron is also built like an absolute freak of nature. Though he’s not the player he once was.

Thoughts in general?
These kind of Activity are deprecable and most of times also linked with criminale activities.
But in general have a strong impact to sport and gambling industry.
Without a serious sanction, even one so radical, people involved will never stop. I can't see other valid solution....
It could be link to criminal activities but what he is doing is not a criminal activity. Porter is probably not the only one doing this but he is one of the few that got caught. He is not a star player, so probably he thought he can increase his income if he will be betting since he know some information a typical bettors don't. I like that the NBA are very strict with implementing their rules, a lifetime ban maybe too much as that would kill the job of a player but its impact might not be good if they'll serve a light punishment. I hope this would not happen again and I'm sure it will send a message for player+gambler who are silently breaking the rules.

A former NBA ref spent time in prison for betting on games, not sure how this isn’t under criminal investigation atm, from what I can see. Doesn’t mean it won’t be, however.

Seems most did not read much in to this case or understand what he did …which was bet AGAINST his own team, as well as got caught purposely not playing to alter the outcome of games and more. This is quite different than simply betting the ML for your own team to win. Had he done that, likely would have been a temp ban.

NFL experts in this thread, how can we make money from this? Please share your best bets heheheheh.

Bet on the Chiefs.  Cheesy

Man I really tried to give the whole UFL thing a go but the games are just at highly inconvenient times and without recognizing any of the players, I just haven't managed to get into it yet. To its credit, its a lot more like the NFL than I had imagined; none of that wacky XFL stuff. Just a few new rules to move the game along faster & reduce chances of injury. Still better than college tho, IMO.

Biggest issue afaic is the multiple networks they have the games on, its a major fucking pita to get all the games, its almost like they don't want people to follow the league.

And yes agreed its way better than college which it is directly competing with.

I personally hate college because the players are basically slaves.

It’s not competing with college, but it’s also not trying to. College is 18-22 year olds on avg. The UFL as far as I can tell is filled with 22-30+ aged former college players (not good enough to go to the NFL). College football is also INSANELY popular and that’s never going to change. Also the top college teams would WAX every UFL team with ease. All the major programs (Michigan, Alabama, USC, Notre Dame, LSU, OH St, Clemson etc) are all driven by future NFL players and stars far better than any UFL player. The UFL is focused on being an option when football (college and NFL) are on break.which is what they have to do as they can’t compete and have failed trying time and time again..so they don’t try to which is smart. I’m all for the UFL, but it’s def boring as hell to me. Have watched a few games so far and man..tough for me.

As for being “slaves” College football players on scholarship get tuition, room and board paid for as well as a stipend on top of that. Leaving college with no deep debt is a pretty nice head start in to the workforce. Also the connections made playing help many get jobs. However I agree that is not enough, thankfully there’s NIL now. The upcoming number 1 pick in the draft Caleb Williams (headed to my bears) made an estimated 10 million in NIL money, and I believe that’s over just a 2 year span. So at least they can get paid now. Step in the right direction. Also, no one is forcing them to play right.

I'm seeing a lot of people on social media criticize this lifetime ban and talk about how much more severe the punishment is then what other players have received for more serious crimes.  While this is true, I think that one thing should be remembered for those that want to make this argument...  Jontay Porter didn't do something outside of basketball like assault a woman or get caught with drugs.  These are the typical things we're used to seeing players get suspended over.  From a basketball perspective though, Jontay tried to cheat the game.  On the court amongst basketball players, this is the worst crime imaginable.  You don't cheat the game.  He's being made an example of also because he's not a major player.  If it were someone with a bigger name, then he probably would've gotten a private suspension and spent a couple years playing baseball while he waits to get back in the league...

Lol I read between the lines there, and while that is a popular conspiracy theory, MJ meant so much to the league I doubt Stern would actually hand out a private ban like some speculate to the guy who did more for the game than anyone in history by a county mile. I just don’t see them giving up all that income MJ made for the game in general. It’s a for profit business after all.  But if he did get a private punishment , we both know he almost assuredly never bet against himself or his team, that’s def the ultimate sac religious no no. Pulling a Pete Rose, ehh, not condoning it but he never bet against his team so ehhh.

Welcome to the Pete Rose club. I really don't understand why these players take the risks that they do. They are already paid well, but it's never enough. Hopefully this incident doesn't interfere with his brothers success.

I honestly wish that all sports would crack down on idiots. I would like to see players banned for other offenses. The leagues shouldn't condone stupidity.

Different clubs though. Pete never did anything to jeopardize the outcome for his own team. It’s wrong what he did sure, but not comparable to what this guy pulled. Had it been a Pete Rose situation, would have likely been a temp ban. At least as far as I can remember Pete never bet against his team in any way.

Btw is it NFL season yet bud? Lol. Withdrawals here big time!
