181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: April 17, 2013, 11:45:37 PM
This might just be my crappy hotel internet, but I am using stratum mining. Every so often I'm losing connection on the miner.

Let me guess, you're in a hotel for the "free" electricity, and you hide a truckload of miners in the closet.

Christian

Nah, I switched jobs, and my house isn't ready for closing yet Sad so I have to stay in a hotel for a couple weeks.

182  Bitcoin / Mining support / rpcminer-cuda issue. on: April 17, 2013, 11:41:20 PM
Trying to fix the Unable to Load Cuda Module error for rpcminer by following these instructions.

There are a couple ways around the .cubin issue.

I found if I do the original "cmake -i", eventually it will prompt you asking if you want to generate a cubin file.  You say "yes" and then it builds a cubin file with a ".txt" extension for whatever reason.

If you take the cubin.txt file and copy it to bitcoinminercuda_11.cubin rpcminer with cuda will work

the other option is to run nvcc and generate your own cubin from the ".cu" file

"nvcc ../src/cuda/bitcoinminercuda.cu -gencode arch=compute_10,\"code=sm_10,compute_10\" -gencode arch=compute_11,\"code=sm_11,compute_11\" --keep"

this will generate .cubin files, copy the one you want to bitcoinminercuda_11.cubin and then run rpcminer

One I run it I get this error below.

LIBCMT.lib(crt0.obj) : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _main reference
d in function ___tmainCRTStartup
a.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals

I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Express with the Nvidia Dev kit. Any help would be appreciated Smiley

BTW:

Overclocking my 570 from the stock 770 MHz Core Clock to 900 MHz (a 17% increase in the Core Clock and a corresponding increase in the linked Shader Clock), which my card can do when slightly overvolted (1.0 v -> 1.038 v) raises the rate from about 230 kH/s to 266 kH/s (a 14% increase in hash rate). It does not appear that we are very memory speed bound.

I am leaving my card at stock frequency though, because I want desktop stability and do not want to overheat my card any more than necessary with the torture it is already getting from mining. 670s don't grow on trees you know Wink.

Michael

It is probably safe to over clock to 822. My card is standard at 822 mhz factory OC

I don't see how you guys can get any gains with GT5xx cards. If I enable any -C option with my 560Ti, I lose a third in kHash throughput. MEH!

I'm using -C 1 -i 0

Hash rate went up about 5 KH for both cards. -C 1 or C 2 both show the 5 KH increase.

188  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: NVIDIA Kepler (K20) from 134MHash/s to 330MHash/s with CUDA on: April 17, 2013, 11:13:15 AM
I can't even get it to run. I get unable to load cuda module error. When I try compile the module myself per the instructions...I get this error:

LIBCMT.lib(crt0.obj) : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _main reference
d in function ___tmainCRTStartup
a.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals

No one can tell me how to fix it. I'm not much for a programmer..
189  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LITECOIN: radeon HD7970 can't get faster than 460Kh/s on: April 16, 2013, 08:00:52 PM
is BIOS updated on the board? Chipset drivers for windows? All I could think of is a bottleneck is the system bus.

190  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CUDAminer problem on: April 16, 2013, 12:38:20 PM
In case any one can use this info:

Two Msi 660Ti (stock OC)
cudaminer 2013.04.09

autotune always finds 147x2 best, so I set it myself:
cudaminer --no-autotune -l 147x2 --device 0 -t 1 -o localhost:8332 -O username:password
cudaminer --no-autotune -l 147x2 --device 1 -t 1 -o localhost:8332 -O username:password

One mines 24x7, other - only when I don't mind the desktop lag Smiley
I get around 128-135kH/s from each, which is about 20 more than anything else. Only problem is cudaminer crashes nvidia driver everytime I quit it.

P.s. I mine on coinotron and use a proxy with this:
mining_proxy -pa scrypt -o coinotron.com -p 3334
It took me ages to find one that works for LTC here: https://github.com/CryptoManiac/stratum-mining-proxy
Maybe now someone will google this and be happy Smiley

I would fiddle with the -m 1 command with autotuning

I did this and was able to get another 10K out of my card

Interesting Smiley still which I was at my old job. They were manufacture...they built lens crafting equipment. We had an R&D department that I could of asked questions too Smiley

First off, absolutely great job with this cudaminer development!

For interest sake, these are some of the results i have seen:
GPU: gtx 460 (OC to 920Mhz with MSI AfterBurner)

GUIMiner: ~65kh/s
Cudaminer 9-4-2013 (56x2): ~95kh/s
Cudaminer 10-4-2013 (56x2): ~124kh/s
Cudaminer 14-4-2013 (14x8): ~127-133kh/s

Virtually a 100% improvement is truly incredible.

One thing I have noticed though, and would just like to check whether its normal or not, is that with 14-4-2013 my gpu seems to run at anywhere between 92 - 100%, giving me an average speed of ~127kh/s (changing between interactive modes does not change this). However, if i open, say, my browser while mining, then my gpu usage is consistently at 100%. This seems expected, but what is not expected is that my hash rate all of a sudden jumps to ~133kh/s!

Is this normal behaviour? Is cudaminer running faster because the gpu is being forced to run at max with the browser open? If so, would it not make sense to simply make cudaminer consistently use 100% of the gpu (assuming of course that my PC is not just crazy and likes to do wierd things Smiley )

I only ask because i have not yet anyone else report this, and maybe I am seeing something that does not matter.

Thanks again, for all the amazing work.

He set it up to cudaminer checks for valid data. meaning a little higher CPU load to do this. It allows you to know if it actually working or not.

screen sharing is not possible without installing something.. more.. any activity on pc is not possible without installing something))

p.s.
join.me, isnt it paid service?

No, it is completely free Smiley
194  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LITECOIN: radeon HD7970 can't get faster than 460Kh/s on: April 15, 2013, 11:37:13 PM
if you arrange teamviewer/vnc I can take a look)

why not just use join.me?

simple to use and doesn't require him to install anything Smiley
195  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to mine LTC. on: April 15, 2013, 08:24:40 PM
Just downdoladed pooler and it had a trojan in it try the litecoin wallet but got minerd and lib not in same directory.

'which one?

minerd pooler's cpu miner is flagged as a Trojan. It is because someone used it to infect machine to turn them into a bot network.
196  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to mine LTC. on: April 15, 2013, 06:36:41 PM
use cudaminer

it works quite weill for nvidia cards

Do what he said...if you really want to get some usage out of the card.

And if Guiminer is showing in the taskbar, but not opening...hit Alt+space bar then click Maximize.  Then click the Menu bar and drag it back into view.

197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: April 15, 2013, 06:25:53 PM
Oh, If the pool isnt responding, like this;
Quote
[2013-04-15 20:16:39] HTTP request failed: Failed connect to eu-pool.give-me-ltc.com:8080;
 No error
[2013-04-15 20:16:39] submit_upstream_work json_rpc_call failed
[2013-04-15 20:16:39] ...retry after 15 seconds
, ctrl-c isnt working.

I have this issue on my 650M card, but not on my GTX 570

If I hit control+C is just takes forever to end. I can force it to reset by end tasking cudaminer

198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: April 15, 2013, 05:17:46 PM
Is that a typo on the google docs? Someone saying they are receiving 5000 KH solo mining?
199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: April 15, 2013, 05:06:24 PM
Hmmmn,

tried cudaminner on another clean win8 pc , and it wont run complaining about some msvcp100.dll which is missing. visual c++ 2010 runtimes are installed.

the file is where it should be windows\system32

When i copy the msvcp100.dll to the directory of cudaminer: it still wont start giving me windows error code 0xc000007b.

on a clean pc that is VERY strange in the least

HuhHuhHuhHuh?

from command line try:
regsvr32 /u msvcp100.dll
regsvr32 /msvcp100.dll

This program runs fine on my windows 8 laptop.

I'm attempting to use NVCC to get rid of the Unable to Load CUDA module error. I'm getting this after I run the command to compile.

LIBCMT.lib(crt0.obj) : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _main reference
d in function ___tmainCRTStartup
a.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals

Anyone able to help?Smiley
