i think today might be a good one for maintenance, 3 blocks so far, though as soon as i swithch off things will get better most likely.

3 blocks so far... and now over 5 hours on this block ... is kind of like watching grass grow

Can someone PM me and tell me just how you go about mining solo? Thanks
I'd be interested to know this too.  Let's say I have <5 of these things, I assume it's better to be in a pool, no?

Mining solo should be quite easy even though I never tried it as I don't have enough hashing power.
What you should do is:
- add 2 lines with "rpcuser=myuser" and "rpcpassword=mypassword" entries to bitcoin.conf
- keep bitcoind always running as normal
- run your mining software (like cgminer or bfgminer) and specify the username and password same as the ones in bitcoin.conf, and the ip address of the computer running bitcoind as the host (127.0.0.1 if it's the same). The port should be 8332.

example:
cgminer -u username -p mypassword -o http://127.0.0.1:8332

That should be it. However do some research and ask somebody with experience to be sure I didn't miss anything.
According to my calculations with current difficulty you have 1 chance in 60 to mine a 25 btc block in the first month.
Having more than 1 stick will multiply your chances.

Thank you, Its something I just wanted to try and may do so for a few days but will most likely go back to my pool.

Any chance of introducing paypal payment option for those who have started mining?

I would recommend those who have started mining not to order this expensive toy.
This expensive toy is still cheaper than FPGA mining.

But still more expensive than just keeping/buying bitcoins.
I meant this is ideal for those who want to invest in hardware as a liquid asset instead of buying bitcoins.

I agree the fact that 330MH/s is not a lot of hashing power in hindsight and at the increased difficulty and its continuous rise (two times in a month), you might look at earnings of 0.008 for next month, 0.006..., earning per day and it won't be profitable. It has arrived late in the mining scenario but may give entry level miners a glimpse of what mining bitcoins is about thus making it more accessible to people with lower incomes thus having a far greater distributed hashing power, than relying on denser ASIC miners (e.g AVALON 60GH/s miner or the fabled "box with fans" that was downgraded from 1,500GH/s to 500GH/s).

Nevertheless, to be profitable, it should be at a much lower price if people want to profit in the long term.

Can someone PM me and tell me just how you go about mining solo? Thanks

hi all,

i was on a trip for some weeks and the first thing i've done was to restart my mining pc. now after the restart the gui miner will not work on slushs pool. every time i start the miner the message appears:
api2.bitcoin.cz:8332....no json object could be decoded. failed to subscribe.io erros - 1, tolerance 2.

my miner was working for the last weeks without an interuption on an ati 7870/win7-300 mhash.

maybe someone have an idea? i'm at work and have no time to read the hole postings since the last 3 weeks.

kind regards, tea

SOLVED

it seems that the solution was to update my bitcoin client to the newest version 0.8.2  Wink

 I had same problem

Change your miner from default of slush pool to other, then input stratum.bitcoin.cz and put 3333 instead of 8333 ..that should take care of it make sure to save settings so you don't have to reenter

Last 7 minutes folks...  getting ready to hit the send button to friedcat/ASICMiner Smiley

Can we get an updated, official list of those who ordered for this first round? I say first round since you alluded to putting together another group buy after this one has finished.

Yes would like to make sure you got us that came in late.

Are people really paying 250 $ for a 0,3 gH/s device Shocked

With electric and VG card cost, I am not sure its that bad of a price? Also people are paying over $400 US on EBay for them.. now that is crazy.
1816  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [CLOSE] Block Erupter USB @ 2.10 BTC + parcel -> Shipping to anywhere! on: May 27, 2013, 02:28:17 PM
Come on guys! if I can stick with this, why can't you?

Augusto, please speed up with this and let us all in this group enjoy our Erupters. It would be a pity if others gets their first while we waste our time waiting for those who are probably gone already.

+1  Where is Augusto, BTW?

We have 233 paid.

I wanted to switch groups (if I can) to speed up the delivery (and save a bit on shipping). UK vs Detroit.  I'm only few hours from where CanaryInMaine is.

The other group closes in 3 hours, so it does not look like I'm going to make it.
Unless Augusto reads my email and does the refund.

I just sent you a message

Augusto, if I can, I'd like to switch to the US group.  But they close in 5 hours.
Would it be possible to cancel/refund my order now before the US group closes?

Thanks,
Peter

Same here if possiable to get it refunded in the next 4 hours. I also would like to switch over to the US group.
 (sent email earlier asking)

Thank you,
Tom

I would like to get in on 4 units. I have a order in on A+C group buy for 10 and if I can get it canceled before the time is up here I will get another 10 from you but will send the BTC payment right now for the 4 units. Tom

Hello everybody! A great day! Payment is on the way.

https://blockchain.info/nl/address/1K53iT2zjJtee9uxyZmDSwQYdbbfwErJeP?sort=0

Thank God I got my wallet working again!  And first time that Monday is much better than Sunday! Grin

Hmmm..... with the new order policy of 50 units, I don't think ID with order of 100 Erupters will continue here and order it by himself  Undecided

I agree ..he may as well just order himself.  I am glad you got your wallet fixed.

I ordered with this buying group as it seemed it was going to go thru before any of the others but now with the lower unit number of 50 to place order I would be better off ordering from the group here in the US as they are placing their order in about 7 hours. If I can cancel my 10 unit order here without jeopardizing this group order and can get my refund sent back within a couple of hours that would be great, if not I will stay put.
