1801  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] QUETZALCOATL BITCOIN on: January 10, 2017, 02:22:11 PM
The pictures really capture the coin design nicely. They do look great indeed!
May I ask how big the key recession (area) is? It looks much deeper than those of redeemed Cas/Lealana coins.
Thanks Smiley
1802  Economy / Collectibles / Re: (WTS) extremely rare Jinn Physical Bitcoin on: January 10, 2017, 02:12:48 PM
Does anyone know how many were minted / sold? I couldn't find this information anywhere.

AFAIK 100 minted, around 90 destroyed by manufacture, and 10 or less in the wild.

That's quite something. I'd read about them but never actually seen one before.
Where did you get yours from? Any rough price guide?
Thanks

1806  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] Lealana 1 LTC and 10 LTC on: January 09, 2017, 07:20:53 AM
Were these coins buyer funded or funded by Smoothie himself?
Does the 10 LTC come with a certificate of authenticity?
Thanks Smiley
1807  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Rare 2oz .999 Ag Coinographic 25LTC "Bull" coin on: January 08, 2017, 02:13:15 AM
I'm interested in the coin (and have been after one for a while) but not at the asking price.
I really like the design and did put a fair amount of effort into helping the company when they first started before I got burned by them too.
If you're open to all offers then drop me a PM and we can talk Smiley
1808  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where do the big exchangers get their bitcoins on: January 05, 2017, 03:35:17 PM
Very often the reason why they are able to sell at the rates that they are is because they buy in bulk.
As the buyers they can set buy orders at the market price - x%. If those are the most competitive prices (despite being below the market rate) sellers will still sell to them as they're looking to liquidate their BTC.
These buyers now have a large supply of coins which they try to sell on at the market rate + x%.
People then choose to buy from them at their prices because of the amounts/limits involved as well as the amount available.
In short there are numerous factors involved. If you want to make a profit by flipping BTC then you'd need to find the most competitive market rates.
1809  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Steganography and BTC -- Making BTC More Private? on: January 05, 2017, 03:29:55 PM
What would the purpose in this be?
At the end of the day the actual bitcoins you send will be public for all to see on the Blockchain.
You could always try finding your own way of disguising keys and/or sending them to others in an encrypted form (BIP38) for example. However, I don't see how you're going to be able to make bitcoin more private if the whole ecosystem is built on a network that encourages transparency.

1814  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 2011 Casascius Series-1 Physical Coins w/ Misprint on: January 04, 2017, 09:32:50 PM
I have multiple 2011 Casascius Series-1 physical bitcoins for sale in Central Virginia. I need to move these fast to pay for home repair bills. Please PM with serious interest if you are able to meet in person to conduct the transaction. I am willing to travel some for the right buyer. No low ball offers. Please respect my time, and I will respect yours. These will be hitting Kraken next week if I do not find a buyer to preserve them as collectable coins.

You will get more for selling them unpeeled and considering the recent prose rise the extra difference will be quite significant.
I know that the series 1 coins collect a higher premium than the S2 and S3 coins and those themselves usually have a premium of anything more than 0.2BTC above face value.

If you want this thread to gain more notice then you should probably move it to the collectibles section. Lots of trash threads keep appearing in the Goods section and collectors tend to look for coin sales in the collectible and auction section nowadays.

Hope this helps and good luck finding some buyers. I know a few people on this forum would be happy to take these off you for more than the face value.

Edit: Just saw these are the single error coins aka the first Cas singles made. They should definitely fetch a nice premium so don't peel them! You'll get a lot more selling them as is.
1815  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] iphone 7 plus 128gb jet black on: January 04, 2017, 09:28:55 PM
This is a BTC forum and this marketplace section is for goods being sold/traded for BTC.
Secondly I don't think anyone is going to fall for sick a terrible scam attempt but good luck!  Grin

1817  Other / Archival / Re: [WTS] Taking offers on some rare coins... Casascius, Lealana, Kialara on: January 04, 2017, 09:38:48 AM
Do you have any guide prices?
I'm potentially interested in one of the following:
0.5 BTC Silver Cas
1.0 BTC Silver Cas
25 LTC Lealana

Thanks Smiley
1818  Economy / Collectibles / Re: $100 Kialara bill. The most collectible and exclusive.. on: January 03, 2017, 10:09:35 PM
Well the original artwork used for the latest Kialara series and the 001 edition of the latest bars sold for around the 2.5BTC mark at today's prices. I'm not saying that this can be used as a guideline (I think it was undersold) but just interesting to note.
1819  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Serious] How long does the paper in a casascius stay legible? on: January 03, 2017, 04:08:06 PM
I've asked this before on the forum but never really got any answers.
I have done my own research however, and there are quite a few factors involved.

•Firstly, the rate of deterioration depends on the ink and paper used.
Using ink to print the keys would detiriorate faster than if the keys were printed using a laser printer. Lasers are fairly accurate and are less prone to smudging if they get wet. (The paper itself could break down if the water gets absorbed and would damage the keys even if they were printed user laser ink jets).
•Secondly, normal paper erodes faster than acid free paper. I can't remember the figures offhand but normal paper erodes quite slowly (20-30 years) whereas acid-free paper can last 100+. I can't remember the figures offhand and the sources I found but I'll look them up when I have time.
•Paper thickness - this is another factor to take into consideration. The kind of gsm paper used will affect the rate of deterioration.

There were quite a few more points that I'd researched but can't remember them for the time being. If I do I'll be sure to add them to the list.
1820  Economy / Economics / Re: instant bank transfers thoughout whole europe next year reality. on: January 03, 2017, 03:25:50 PM
Can someone provide a link to this new legislation?
It would be interesting to read as I can't imagine that they'd apply this to larger transactions of a more significant amount due to the various checks that they have in place to make sure that the money being sent is in fact 'kosher'. I'm sure the larger ones will still have more of a delay while these checks are made...
