1801  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I can double your BTC - Proof! on: July 03, 2011, 03:22:41 AM
To save some time, why don't you just send 0.01 to the address listed in my signature.

This way, you do not have to wait for me to send you BTC.
I'm sure you can do better things with your time.

Also this cut down on some of traffic on the BTC network. e.g., me sending you 0.01 and you sending back 0.02.

1802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin v0.3.24 release candidate available on: July 03, 2011, 03:14:11 AM
We had hoped to have wallet encryption ready for release, but more urgent fixes for existing clients were needed.  Wallet encryption is ready for testing at https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/352 for the git-savvy, and -hopefully- will follow shortly in the next release, v0.4.
Thanks Smiley

Oldminer is the king of scams, if he thinks something is up, something is the fuck up.
1806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin plus - is it owned by a member of this forum? - RANT ALERT! on: July 03, 2011, 02:40:40 AM
Sorry Porn, but you're only defending the site because you let their software run on your porn site.
Quite understandable that you want to defend the site then.
Don't get me wrong - it's ok to do so IF it is disclosed.
Even the BCP policy was ok if disclosed.
The SCAM is that they don't.

BTW nice pics on your site Wink
I assure you, I do not always defend BitcoinPlus, please research my posts, I tend to talk highly of Bitp.it, but in this case and one other brought up recently in the Newbie forum, it's hard not to see BCP's side on this matter, it is plain and simple a lack of a site update that is getting the site labeled as a scam.  You can clearly see this stemming from bitterness regarding misunderstanding how browser mining could work, obviously not on an individual level.  There is no scam.

BTW, thanks, I'm photogenic Tongue
1807  Other / Meta / Re: Split up General Discussion forum? on: July 03, 2011, 02:22:57 AM
Maybe all the threads about the price of bitcoin going up/down/sideways should be put in the TRADING board, since the price is all about trading?

And this topic should be moved to 'Meta'.

There just needs to be a little more hands on moderation for better thread placement.  But I mean, technically almost anything could be Bitcoin Discussion, so maybe delete Bitcoin Discussion, yes this forum, make 4 or so more subforums (Bitcoin Marketing/Media, Bitcoin Theory, Bitcoin Love, and something else), the end.

People will be forced to keep their Bitcoin related discussions more focused into established Bitcoin subforums and the newly created ones, people can vote for what is important as the new subforums.   Anything else is Off Topic, which on any forum is the dumping ground, but that is basically what the main forum here has become.   I think this is a very possible solution too.
1808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What "Known Celebrity" would be down with Bitcoin? Seriously on: July 03, 2011, 02:13:41 AM
Damn, first reply is actually a good one.   Is Penn not big into some of the ideals that go behind some positives of Bitcoin from that libertarian perspective.   The more I think of that, really really good suggestion imo.
1809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is just fine - working as intended on: July 03, 2011, 02:11:50 AM
Oh shit, was this thread created before or after this happening.
1810  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BitForums.net ~ New BitCoin discussion with varitey of open sections to members! on: July 03, 2011, 02:10:49 AM
Good luck with the site, when I seen it the other day I noticed some bad things, but focus on the positive lol, design is clean as fuck.  Congrats on the opening, I wish it well, I think it better more Bitcoin based forums start going rather than people keep flocking to this one.  On top of no doubt more free discussion on non-official boards.
1811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What "Known Celebrity" would be down with Bitcoin? Seriously on: July 03, 2011, 02:04:30 AM
They would have to be geek.  They would have to like their fans.  I think these are the only two requirements for this question.

The reason why is this part of Youtipit

Want to tip someone who is not on Youtipit?

You can create a tipit for a person you think should receive tips but is not a member of Youtipit yet. Its easy, just create an Escrow tipit for them. All you need is thier Facebook profile URL and some bitcoins in your Youtipit account to tip them with. Once the tipit is created other people will be able to tip them and the person can claim the tipit at any time by registering with thier facebook account.

First, I want to point out how Youtipit does not capitalize the word facebook all the time, I like that :p  I really could see a geeky enough person who enjoys their fans, even though they might or might not have tried Bitcoin otherwise, would at the least take this donation, which will naturally mean if they themselves do not check into things, their assistant will.   Also, this would mean.. they are in!

Ashton Kutcher is the only person I can think of that fits this description perfectly, but other than that, who could this idea really work for?  Would you donate to try and make that happen?   You would be putting your hard earned Coin, giving it to somebody who probably has more money than all of us, literally paying them to check out this shit going on.
1812  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin song - The Ballad of the Bitcoin on: July 03, 2011, 01:56:04 AM
This is fantastic!

Please consider adding this to YouTipIt.

Damn.  I love YouTipIt, and when I seen you suggest it, it made me remember they do have a function to start a tip jar for someone else, but then I seen this.

1813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Serious situation with TradeHill imminent on: July 03, 2011, 01:53:20 AM
I can't disclose my sources, but I can say with some confidence that Australian authorities are going to move on TradeHill sometime this week or next week. The sad part is that TradeHill easily - EASILY - could have obtained licensing or some sort of exemption from Australian financial authorities. Other investigations won't be far behind.
I believe him yo

I don't know why, but I do

1814  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Embedable Javascript Bitcoin miner for your website on: July 03, 2011, 01:42:34 AM
Thanks for putting an announcement out there, sad to see it official official, especially with what seems to be new found interest in it (see this on reddit).   Glad you and whoever helped you out came and tried, hopefully someone else can pick up and find something that you were doing and add or change it to keep things going Smiley
1815  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is BitCoinPlus a scam? on: July 03, 2011, 12:04:23 AM
Man I wish I wan't practicing the "Do No Evil" lifestyle. I would love to pull a BCP type of scam myself.
Do No Evil 2.0.  Now includes functioning evil in the form of attacks on a website that has old information posted.

I have something everyone can discuss and maybe something useful and actually positive can come from this thread...

Since this thread has started up, we all know BCP has erroneous information, how long before (even myself) has to recognize "Okay guys, what is up, why are you not updated this web site?"   No matter what 'side' you are on, in this thread, one fact remains, BCP could use an update, not that they have to, but it could use one.

Now BitCoinBarter, I am going to assume the time frame for you and this situation has come and gone, but please feel free to step back from this situation, look at all sides, and then answer honestly please.   I will say this is hard to gauge based on 'how much does BCP deserve to make for offering this service, hosting the site, etc' on top of there is little to nothing known about 'staff' size or what other projects he is behind that may also be occupying his site.
1816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin plus - is it owned by a member of this forum? - RANT ALERT! on: July 02, 2011, 11:50:34 PM
This is not a site that is trying to trick you out of your money (which is what a scam is). This is a site that had bad foresight as to how users would use the system, and a front page that isn't blindingly obvious that withdrawal transaction fees are passed on.
On top of being established with a fee system in place that is different value than when the site started, on top of how much a Bitcoin was 'worth', which of course changing by the minute... oh yeah.. also, scams usually try and sell you something.  They offer a service for a fee, in the end the service itself is provided.

I can see how the site and business isn't being run up to date and current, but they sure don't have to, and at this point with how people are attacking the site, I don't think half the users complaining deserve any explanation on anything with how little they seem to want to view things from BitcoinPlus' side.

1818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] STARE now accepts bitcoins! on: July 02, 2011, 10:12:23 PM
Why isn't Bitcoin mentioned anywhere on the homepage?

Regular store offering Bitcoin as payment through word of mouth.

I hope a lot of people support this kind of merchant coming through that may not be able to do a full btc only business or even the resources to handle a campaign that would educate their established customers.

Hopefully he will work up enough business, or Bitcoin itself will get enough traction, where a Bitcoin logo will be right next to any Visa/MC logos and what not Smiley

lardy, can we put a stamp on  you also have to come back if you are wrong?  How about 6 months to a year, if Bitcoin is booming, you come and apologize.
