This short term thinking is what plagues the whole realm of cryptocurrencies. Who cares that another coin gets added on Mintpal? All the best to them. People should stop thinking they will get rich overnight, solid and steady development wins the race. I'd rather see VOOT delivering a good anon feature than see it rushed to an exchange and peaking shortly and then falling afterwards. Remember, Mintpal is the whales playing ground. It's the ultimate test for the survivability of a coin. If it gets pumped without being fully matured development wise it will not survive long term (look what is happening to CRYPT for example) I'd really like to see the caffeinated, gum chewing, wannabe Gecko types who are merely in for a quick buck go elsewhere. Looking at this data, we see that Darkcoin was mined with 500 DRK generated per block from the get go. From block 1 to at least block 3250, according to their blockchain, they were still producing 500 coins each block. The transition from 500 to 277 coins per block occurs between 3250 and 3500 but this author did not see the necessity of getting the exact moment of halving. Simple math shows that 3250 blocks multiplied by 500 coins a block is 1,625,000 Darkcoins created between the times of 3:54 and 11:22 on January 19th, 2014. As of today there are around 4,300,000 DRK in existence, making this a pretty hefty instamine. The Darkcoin website expects around 22,000,000 DRK to be created. That means in less than 8 hours, almost 5% of the Darkcoins that ever will be created spawned in that 1/3 of a day. It's safe to say Darkcoin has left it's investors in the dark on this one.

Perhaps the people who voted in favour of blocking coins, or said they weren't sure haven't been around as long and are still new to the concept of crypto. Thankfully there's enough old hands around to make sure it never actually happens and terrible ideas like the one in the OP never become a reality. What if the votes were just "voting spam" of people that just vote random answers on polls on these forums? I have sure seen stranger things Voting (and laws) are not a necessity when society builds a consensus on those matters. eg. FUCK THE ESTABLISHMENT. We are warning all promoters and pumpers (including, but not limited to: koolio, fontas, moosanyc, prometheus etc.) of altcoins that claim to have some sort of anonymity, privacy etc. features that we will analyze these features and publish results if these altcoins are heavily promoted and/or pumped.
In case of CryptCoin you could already see disastrous effects of such analysis on the coin price. The analysis was published on CryptCoin subreddit but was later removed by moderators.
Similar poor ideas and bad implementations have already been identified in number of other altcoins, including some that were recently heavily pumped. So please don't promote and pump any altcoin with special security, privacy or anonymity features unless you are convinced that these features can pass serious analysis.
Altcoin users: please take security, anonymity and privacy very seriously and don't trust any anonymity etc. feature unless it has been reviewed by independent experts. Sadly, we don't know any altcoin feature that has received such review.
