What happened to the "Shares This Round" data on the left side of every page?

There is a link to detailed share data in 'My Stats', but 'shares this round' is still on the left.

Goodness, we are killing it. 890BTC buffer!

BurningToad, you're too honest! Wink
1803  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: More crap to deal with - Dwolla Reverses TradeHill Transactions on: July 27, 2011, 01:43:16 AM
Oh Good, that makes more sense. Still I'd only use http://Http://mtgox.com or http://Http://bitcoinbux.com. Any other site is a gamble in my opinion. Just my 2 cents Smiley

What makes more sense? That email just proves that dwolla is being sketchy about this whole thing. You, sir, are very misinformed. Try reading the thread. It usually tells you what's going on.

I can't say from experience, but I am pretty certain that both those exchanges use dwolla as well, and as the issue is with dwolla and NOT the exchanges, they are in the same boat as TH.
1804  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: More crap to deal with - Dwolla Reverses TradeHill Transactions on: July 27, 2011, 12:12:10 AM
Dwolla suspended my account that had over $400 in it and now my money is gone.

Fuck, I can't believe that. I've always been suspicious of Tradehill and I guess I was right. Mt. Gox all the way or any other alternative.

To paraphrase the two posts above me, are you retarded? Mt. Gox all the way?

Comedy value aside (though personally I find them completely unfunny), if this is going to be a serious place to discuss the future of an entire currency then perhaps we shouldn't be allowing the most vocal segment of the users to look like idiots at passing glance in a place easily accessible to the public.

Macros make you come across like a teenager or an idiot, neither of which is a good face for a public forum linked to Bitcoins.

Not everyone is blessed with an Asperger's lack-of-a-sense-of-humor. Just rock back and forth and rattle off pi to the thousandth decimal. These mean ole' memes can't hurt you.

Seriously...did this fucking troll's nest ever seem like it is a serious place to discuss the future of an entire economy? As someone earlier said, that ship has sailed a long time ago.

e: typo

As a tool, this exact post is what the problem is.

Alright, Chief Have-no-fun.

I seriously have concerns with an exchange that claims to do millions with Dwolla cannot float $37K for the better of Bitcoin as a whole.

I would have no problem with Trade Hill airing this if it affected customers but it didn't.

Trade Hill simply could have said there were issues with Dwolla transfers in and left it at that.

Bad move Jered, this is going to bite you back hard.

BCX

Are you joking? TradeHill should eat a $37,000 theft...for Bitcoin? As a favor to us? Why don't you float that $37,000 for Bitcoin? You will be the hero of the bitcoin exchanges.

This does affect customers. If you can't see how, I am not going to waste my time explaining it to you.

They could have glossed over the problem and left us in the dark, much as Dwolla is doing, but instead, TH did the honorable thing. I highly, highly doubt that showing his integrity will come back to bite him in the end...
1808  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: More crap to deal with - Dwolla Reverses TradeHill Transactions on: July 26, 2011, 04:01:56 AM
Man, this is ultra-scandalous. Another case of amateur hour getting too big for their britches?

Dwolla is bleeding rep like a stuck pig right now and they haven't said a damn thing to stem the flow. I am very interested for them to weigh in and make good with TradeHill...speaking of which, I applaud your announcements and attempts to save other exchanges and us consumers from the same BS. I think everyone here fully supports you.
1809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Something Awful forums discuss bitcoin & SquareWear on: July 25, 2011, 10:02:52 PM
I just got my shirts in the mail (thanks Gabriel!) and they're AWESOME!!!  Very high quality heavy cotton construction and they feel comfy. If anybody is on the fence about picking up a shirt or three from SquareWear, I'd say DO EET!  Not only will you get a pretty kickass shirt, you'll also help stimulate the Bitcoin economy.

Wish I actually had a 6990 FML

If no one else needs them, I'll take 'em for convenience' sake. I figure I'll have to slap a couple more cards in my machine in the coming months to stay in the game. By that point, I am sure there will be mad cards on the market.

Seriously. Try a little roadtrip or something before you make a decision with such finality. I find myself picking up and changing my whole life every four or five years cause I fall into a rut. Move to the other side of the country...hell, move OUT of the country. A change of scenery is the best way to see it's beauty.

8. Take time to talk with your rig. Developing a close working relationship will increase your hashrate as well as decrease the likelihood of your rig stealing your BTC and spending it on silk road drugs to solve its problems.

I think the guys dealing rock on skidrow should be accepting my bitcoin. That'll turn some heads...besides, half the bums there are rocking smartphones. It's shocking.
1816  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Registrations temp closed] Ars Technica community mining pool! on: July 20, 2011, 04:11:01 AM
Please feel free to correct me if my assumptions or math are wrong in any way. From the pool stats page, the latest round currently has about 3.86 million shares valued at 0.000029570125 BTC per share and a donation weight of 0.4480.

3860000 * 0.004480 = 17292.8 shares
17292.8 * 0.000029570125 = 0.511350258 BTC

This has been a very slow round, taking over 18 hours to find a new block. If the frequency remains at an average of 1 block every 24 hours, then:

0.511350258 * 30 = 15.3405075 BTC/month

At the recent Mt. Gox exchange low of approximately $13/BTC, that comes out to roughly $200/month.

I don't know what the server costs are, but from the above analysis, 0.5-1% fee implementation seems a very reasonable rate to cover bandwidth and processing expenses, as well as at least some of BT's time spent on the pool.

Aside from that, it would appear that the decline in USD/BTC rate has met with enough demand to suggest a bottom. As the rate rises, the incurred overhead costs should marginalize further, providing a much-deserved increase in return for BT.

That current donation weight includes a lot of people who were around in the formative days who recognized a good thing and are giving large percentages to support the growth of the pool. I won't reduce my donation if a mandatory 1% is implemented. I would love to see the donation weight rise above 1% and our volume to continue to skyrocket. BT has obviously worked hard to whip this together, and he's helped me out a million times on the IRC. C'mon everyone...make it rain btc.

It is absolutely unbelievable that this is going over so many people's heads. Sad, really...

Giraffe, bosschair; I will contribute my services as shill in the forums. This is gonna be huge.
1818  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Registrations temp closed] Ars Technica community mining pool! on: July 20, 2011, 12:18:13 AM
Agreed here.  Been extremely happy with my mining here on Ars and major props to BT for keeping all this going!

+1 for a mandatory fee of 1%.  Least we can do is cover the costs of the servers and make sure things stay stable and can scale up as the pool grows.

Thanks!

Make that three for the mandatory fee. You oughta' be getting paid for this, rather than paying for us to use this.

Thanks again for all the help over IRC and all the work you've put in to create this. I've got nothing but good things to say about the pool and it's members.
1819  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [190 GH/s 0% fee SMPPS] Ars Technica community mining pool! on: July 19, 2011, 07:05:10 AM
Sorry, but storing monetary values in floats is just... something I really don't like. At all.

Having more than 8 decimals ready is nice, but using floats for that is just not the style of coding I support at all. Bitcoins are atomic units.

I am sure BurningToad would be happy to review any coding you submit to him for possible inclusion into his pool. I don't doubt that he could use some help, what with running this 0% fee pool that has sextupled in size in three weeks all by his lonesome.

Frankly, I don't think you've got much to bitch about...
1820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Dollar maybe shit aug 2nd GO BITCOIN watch video on: July 19, 2011, 06:57:56 AM
I like the analogy of money being a measure of velocity instead of a inventory count. If there's only $1 in existence, but it get passed around between 10 people, $10 have been spent. i.e. the GDP isn't a measure of how many dollars there are, but of how many are spent.

OK, so $10 are spent, but there is still only that $1 in existence. How are you going to pay the $1.10 the treasury wants back if you only have that dollar - a shortage of $0.10?  It can't be from income tax.  If the second  person had to pay $0.10 tax when he made that $1.00, then he would only have $0.90 to spend on the third person.  There still is only the $1 in existence.

So the second person has $0.90 and he wants to buy something for $1.00 off the third person.  This is impossible unless the treasury releases another $0.10.  Now there is $1.10 in existence but the treasury wants $1.21 back - a shortage of $0.11.

In the course of that dollar being spent ten times, services, consumables and durable goods that are worth money are procured and produced. Cash is not the only part of the game. Cash buys the pump to get the oil out of the ground that in turn is sold for cash... In your system, deflation would run rampant and drive the value of the one dollar in existence through the roof. Every gallon of gasoline that is refined is four more dollars in circulation, though that is not the best example as it is consumable. Think about gold...another ounce found in a mining operation doesn't drop the price of gold in proportion to the overall supply...more dollars are being pulled from the ground.

Printing new money (in theory...I'm not backing the fed here...) merely matches the influx of value from harvested resources and keeps prices stable. A shortage (your missing $.10) doesn't physically exist, it is merely an artifact of the books.

Elk-tamer essentially elaborated on what I meant when I said that it's not zero-sum.
