The problem with Qatar was that initially they announced that alcohol will be permitted inside the stadium for a limited duration. But then two days before the kickoff, they changed the rule and told that alcohol will be strictly prohibited except for those who hold the most expensive tier tickets. The fans who booked their tickets many weeks ago felt cheated and by then it was too late to cancel their travel plans. Budweiser was one of the sponsors for this event, and they also felt deceived as a result of this new restriction.

Ah, that explains why I didn't see people drinking alcohol in the stadium yet read that it was allowed. Only the top tier tickets had access to it. I guess that's how they're used to making things over there, money talks.

Such a shame really, but the world moves on, and now the focus in on the next one.
1802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whitepaper Hidden in every Modern Copy of macOS on: April 12, 2023, 01:56:55 AM
I don't know, but most Apple device users don't dig deep into the system to read hidden files, most of the use is for design or to exploit the device's features.
The question must be presented to Apple. If they know, then this is a problem, and if they do not know, then the problem is greater.
Wouldn't they face any legal problem, at least in the UK, in which the Bitcoin white paper seems to be outlawed.

The Bitcoin white paper is also stored in the blockchain

Here is a detailed explanation about it: https://bitcoiner.dev/2021/01/30/lets-get-the-bitcoin-whitepaper-from-the-blockchain
1803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to convince a sceptical person to buy Bitcoin ? on: April 11, 2023, 11:54:44 PM
Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency surviving more then a decade. Because of the survival tendencies, many people hold their assets in bitcoin till now. Now the price of bitcoin had increased again with the completion of first quarter of the year, So expect the price of bitcoin will increase to 32k dollars in a upcoming months. If you want to convince him, you have to show them the total history of bitcoin since 2013. Bitcoin is all time needed crypto currency due to the survival potential. Say him, if they want to save any assets for their children ask to save assets in crypto currency. Ask them to save in bitcoin if possible to get huge profits in long run.

Even earlier than 2013. The beginning of Bitcoin is quite relevant, because it's different than pretty much anything else.

There was no pre-mining, everything was done just right, and it had no value initially. It grew organically, it's a bit of a miracle that it actually worked initially. Now it's not going anywhere, but in those early stages it was very fragile.

Knowing the early story of Bitcoin allows you to understand it in a more profound way. There's way more than just the price.

The hell knows who played with whom) just bet by intuition) no artificial intelligence can not calculate the outcome of the game, a footballer can wear the wrong shoes and will not score a goal, a tennis player can sweat palms and miss will be balls, it still depends on the circumstances and they are different) So we rely on his gut Roll Eyes

That's what being a random event means, but you can estimate the probability of the team winning or losing.

It's not like everything is completely the same, and anything can happen with the same probability, there are clearly better teams that usually end up winning, even with those random events.

Probabilities help you calculate the odds of this happening.

It's not about allowing a Muslim country to host the world cup, the most important thing is about the country's rules because even some Musil country they have rules everyone should respect, and doesn't matter if they are hosting a world cup or not whether in other Muslim countries, they will expect the visitors from other countries to do not drink alcohol and they take it hard for them.

It doesn't even have to be a Muslim country. In Brazil they had laws that prohibited the sale of alcohol inside the stadium, but when FIFA brought the world cup there, they simply changed the law, and sold alcohol in the stadiums.

At the end of the day, money talks.
1806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you consider yourself as a risk taker if you buy bitcoin? on: April 11, 2023, 05:57:23 AM
~snip~
It's still a pretty high risk. However, keeping your money in fiat or in stocks is a risk too, it's all just a different kind of risk. And it's different for everyone not only based on salary, but on country, job, etc.

You can transfer Bitcoin to most countries in the world and convert it into the local currency.

That makes it basically very low risk, as you can always revert it to fiat if you need or want to do it for some reason.

Bitcoin is not going anywhere given the current status it has.
1807  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: April 11, 2023, 01:59:56 AM

This is going to be interesting, because in the case of humans anything that we create belong to us and we can exploit it as we want, but AI is not protected in that way so everything that it creates can be copied by others.

And while this is not a problem in the case of a gambling AI, I wonder what will happen to all the content which will be created by AI from now on, most likely the humans behind such an AI will take the credit instead as a way to protect that content and commercially exploit it as they see fit.

It has always been like this.

Back in the days someone told you something, you then used that information to create something.

Then that transfer was done through writing and reading books.

Then through the Internet by searching and reading manually.

Now it's done with an entity that does the search for you and summarizes the results.

It's always been the same, you get information from somewhere else, then you create something.
1808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much these features weigh most when you choose your favorite casino? on: April 11, 2023, 12:30:30 AM
I think one of the most important features of a casino is the ability to withdraw money.

If they make it too complicated, or with high minimums, then really it's not a great experience for the gambler, who in theory just wants to withdraw as much as possible.

Anything else in my mind is simply secondary, other than the game odds of course.
1809  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting strategy question on: April 11, 2023, 12:28:25 AM

The difference is clearly visible, slots are games that are bet on and operate with machines where there is a system that works to run this game, while football betting is a sports bet that is directly related to the course of a match that is taking place.
But regarding the house edge, I need to say that the house edge can't do anything to beat gamblers in football sports betting, especially because the winning outcome is determined by the competing team, not the house edge.
But on the other hand the house edge cannot beat gamblers on sports betting they can still give very low odds against a team that has a high chance of winning the match.
The opportunity for gamblers to outsmart the low odds given by the house edge is only one, by placing more bets because when placing bets earlier the odds are still slightly higher.

True, at the end of the day the difference appears in the estimation of the odds. In games like roulette, or slots, etc, the odds are fixed and simple to calculate, say, 1 in 6 to roll a 4 on a dice. It's done, then the casino pays less than those odds, and that's the game.

For the sports bets though, that's a different story because the odds change all the time. Even in half time for example the reality has changed and the odds need to be updated. What remains the same is that the casino always pays less than what their estimated odds would indicate.

I congratulate you on your win, and, honestly, risking $6 is not exactly braking your promise. You can afford to lose $6, I'm pretty sure, and, besides, you couldn't withdraw that amount anyway, because it's too small.

Regarding making higher bets, I disagree. Yes, you would win more in the case of hitting a high multiplier, but it would take just a few lost bets to reach the amount you could afford to lose. Too short to be fun.

Not being able to withdraw $6 is a bit weird though. I mean, with lightning it shouldn't really be a problem at all as you can withdraw a few sats with almost no cost.

I wonder how much money these companies make just by grabbing the leftover from all their accounts.
1811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Females domination in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies on: April 11, 2023, 12:23:20 AM
Male or female can be a part of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, any gender can learn Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies because there's no limitation, it's just a matter of their seriousness. Not all men are interested with Bitcoin, similar like not all female will not interested with Bitcoin.

I don't think female need to dominate Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and at the same time there's no need male to dominate Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, it's pointless.

I don't think there's a need to separate groups of humans, Bitcoin is for everyone. Doesn't matter what group or groups represent you, because all that matters is that you as an individual want to use Bitcoin. That's it.

At the end of the day Bitcoin is money, and every person on earth can use money.
1812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you consider yourself as a risk taker if you buy bitcoin? on: April 11, 2023, 12:21:31 AM

Even if we are willing to lose and do not expect to receive any reward when investing, it also means that we have accepted the risk as freely as possible. Investing in bitcoin meant we took the risk, but given what bitcoin can give us, I think our risk is well worth it.

There is no such thing as a completely safe investment in this world, it's just more or less risky, and bitcoin is one of the riskiest investments compared to traditional investments. But high risk brings high returns, so if someone is willing to step out of their comfort zone and take the risk, they will succeed faster than others.

I think that's one of the big advantages of Bitcoin, that you can, since the beginning, simply risk a portion of your time/money/resources to it, and see how it will go.

Probably it's not as high risk now as it was in the beginning, but for some people it is still seen as high risk.
1813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to convince a sceptical person to buy Bitcoin ? on: April 10, 2023, 07:37:48 AM
Although within this community Bitcoin is practically the only currency in which everyone believes, just look around a bit and we will find thousands of people who think otherwise.
At this point I wonder, what reasons should we give these people to make them realise that Bitcoin is a right choice? The first argument that comes to mind to convince a person who is sceptical about Bitcoin, is first of all that with Bitcoin you no longer need to delegate the custody of your money to a third party (banks, mutual funds, etc.): you are the master and you hold them. What else would you add?

Stock market and similar can only be traded in certain hours of the day, Monday to Friday. That sounds archaic to me, Bitcoin can be traded 24/7 as you would expect in the Internet era.

Bank transfers are slow, particularly international ones. In an Internet connected world, there shouldn't be country barriers. Moving money from one country to another is expensive and requires you to wait "X business days". With Bitcoin you can transfer money anywhere in the world, and you can do it on the weekend, on holidays, any time.

Sometimes your bank doesn't allow you to use your own money. You went for holidays and didn't tell your bank? they can freeze your account for "your safety". Now you are in a foreign land without access to your own money. Bitcoin is always yours, you never need to ask permission to use your own money with Bitcoin.

And so many other things, for example inflation. If you keep your money in your bank account it slowly (or sometimes not that slowly) loses its value over time. With Bitcoin it actually increases its value over time.
1814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you consider yourself as a risk taker if you buy bitcoin? on: April 10, 2023, 07:32:02 AM

This question is simple because the answer is unequivocally YES but the answer has complex and deep meaning so let's get on it. Buying or trading bitcoin is an activity that considered as inherently risky. If you engage in that kind of activity you can consider yourself as a risk taker.  Why it is considered as inherently risky? It is because the outcome of buying bitcoion are probable not guaranteed meaning that we are not sure if we can make money. We are simply taking risk when we buy or trade bitcoin BUT it doesn't mean that we are correspondingly accepting the risk of buying bitcoin and that is the PROBLEM.

Most of the investors or traders are keep telling that they are taking risk because they bought a bitcoin, they did not accepted that buying bitcoin or trading bitcoin has a non guaranteed outcome. They just making hasty decision without making a plan and also accepting the possible consequences of their decision. Most of the investors and treaders are not yet knowledgeable enough because they have absolutely no concept of what it takes to be a risk taker. The best bitcoin investors and the best bitcoin traders have fully understand what it takes to be a risk taker wherein they learned to accept and embraced the risk.

There is a huge pychological gap between assuming that you are a risk taker because you bought bitcoin and fully accepting the risks inherent in each bitcoin that you bought. I created this thread because I see a lot of people who are having negative emotions like regret, hatred, sadness, fear, jelousy and many more emotions just because they lose money after they bought bitcoin. The lesson is the best bitcoin investor and trade doesn't resonate the slightest bit of emotional discomfort because they understand the game and they fully accepted and embrace the risk where they know that buying bitcoin are probable not guaranteed.

In 2009 it was a huge risk, but today it is already used as legal tender in El Salvador, and it's being used in large companies, so there's little risk really.

Bitcoin is not going anywhere. I would argue that it is more risky not getting some Bitcoin these days.

So far, I have only found information that the official candidates for organizing the 2030 World Cup are Argentina, Chile, Peru and Uruguay, who submitted a joint bid.
It is said that Spain, Ukraine and Portugal are considering a joint bid for the 2030 World Cup.
Allegedly, according to unofficial information, Saudi Arabia wants to jointly organize the 2030 World Cup with Greece and Egypt and even finance the construction of stadiums in those countries. In any case, a very uncertain competition for the host of the 2030 World Cup awaits us.

I think it would be great if the 2030 World Cup is hosted in South America, because it will be the centenary anniversary of it. It all started in Uruguay 1930, so it would male sense to have it in South America.

I don't necessarily agree with any of this. Back in 2016, Trump was relatively unknown and he needed whatever publicity he gets. And that worked to his advantage. Media channels such as MSNBC and CNN constantly targeted him, creating a sympathy wave in favor of Trump among the white working class. But the situation changed in 2020. Trump was well known, and his radical views polarized the voters. And unfortunately for him, the number of voters who opposed him remained much higher than those supporting him, and this situation remains to this day.

It is surprising that Trump is shown on TV and discussed on multiple platforms more than the current sitting president of the US.

I can see how the US might end up voting for Trump, because at the end of the day the presidential elections are kinda just like a celebrity contest.
1817  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: April 10, 2023, 07:23:15 AM
AIs analyzing sports accurately may really destroy sports gambling. I can only see gamblers relying much on it to make money, the lazier we become since it's like having a glimpse of the future result.

If the development of AIs continues there will come a time when these developers can create a perfect AI that can actually predict results in sports betting and many casinos will be in trouble, even newbies in sports betting can beat the house and this is not good for the industry.
Quote
What about the protest of Elon that AI development must be stopped?  I was watching the news about it recently that government may actually prohibit the further development of AIs.
He is right in calling for that because there's a risk for society many will lose their jobs and will be replaced by these AI, there could be a time when industries will heavily dependent on AI because its cheap and industries can save a lot, I have seen this scene in one of the series of the movie Terminator.

There will always be a random element in any sports competition, so gambling will always be there, even if the AIs are extremely accurate in predicting the odds. Remember that it's just the odds they calculate, say a coin has 50% chances in showing heads after a toss. The casino simply pays say 45 cents for every dollar you bet. In the long term the casino will make money because it pays less than what's expected, 50c. So the same applies with sports betting, just more complicated. Even if the AI gets the odds perfect, the casinos just pay less.

People can ask for stopping anything, but if there's benefit to be made, someone, somewhere will be pushing for it.

There is no higher standard that Qatar set in previous World Cup other than the new stadium they built because they really don't have enough stadiums to host World Cup matches the rest is normal because they already have it before like a hotel even though it is reported they have good facilities but also the price to enjoy these facilities for the fans it's definitely not cheap, even some players are not very comfortable with the air conditioner installed in the stadium to make the air temperature cooler. Each host has their own standards which will be difficult to compare to one another because all will have their own advantages and disadvantages.

There was no football standards set by Qatar though. They might have money, but they didn't have any football skills in the field.

At least the next hosts are good at the game.
1819  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: April 09, 2023, 01:35:17 PM
Biden will have little to no chance at winning this election if his candidate is a more capable and more intelligent contender. Let's face it, the only reason Biden won this election is because hello, he's vying for the position against Kanye West, and Donald Trump, who need I say both have their dirts exposed online for everyone to see. Granted that Bernie Sanders run for presidency, I would willingly put my money on the guy. Thus far he's been the most progressive and most intelligent out of all the candidates, and had just been dealt a bad hand by working with little to no campaign funding.

Donald Trump has his die-hard fans to vouch for him, but Biden, I don't think so. I haven't seen any die-hard Biden fans quite lately, I think that's a good indication he's not gonna win this election if he ever runs.

It's really a weird world we live in... having someone like Kanye West as potentially being the president of the United States

Wait what do you mean by this? Shouldn't we bet for a winner to win ourselves? Or are you talking about betting the order on who gets most votes and who comes for second and third? I haven't seen an option for that but i would be very much interested on that. Or have i completely missed your point? Could you elaborate more.

I think you can bet about anything, not only who ends up winning.

You can bet on who gets second, third, etc, just like in a horse race for example.
