18181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: SOLO mining With Bitcoin-qt RPC error on: April 06, 2015, 12:03:09 PM
you don't need "-server", just server=1 in the config, you also do not need "port" or "daemon", same for "rpcconnect"

the error could be related to maybe another client using the same port?

try to change it to something else

p.s. rpc alloip for internal ip isn't needed too, unless you want to setup a small pool with 2+ pc mining in solo
18182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Interest... again on: April 06, 2015, 11:56:06 AM
Maybe in the next few years these exchange will drop and a few new "decentralized" exchange will be created (only to trade btc <>altcoin). The problem with decentralized exchange (FIAT side) is that the fiat money are too big problematic due the chargeback possibility, the stolen of bank, credit card etc....

Decentralized exchanges can be even more risky. Look at what happened to Silk Road 2.0, which was a decentralized market place. Hackers stole the credentials of sellers with good reputation, and then used these accounts to scam ordinary users.

then openbazar is doomed(which is bad because openbazar is another thing that could potentially rise the price of bitcoin), if they don't implement something automatized, a bot that check if connection is secure between two user and also work as escrow

surfeasy should also start to accept bitcoin soon, they partners with bitpay recently
18184  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2 week target $160 on: April 06, 2015, 10:20:36 AM
You guys do realize that those companies do not hold Bitcoin? The more sales they have the worse it is. They instantly just convert to fiat. That's one of the problems of today.
Although you're right. People here tend to be pessimistic and panic often which hurts the price.
The real question is can we change anything about it?

if they sell someone must buy, the problem aren't those big companies selling like mad, but the buyers which are lowering their walls, and the fact that there are few strong buyers out there, the rest are just scared newbies
Must? No they don't have to buy. You do realize how Bitpay works right? If they sell more than people are buying the price is going down.
I'm actually disappointed that these large companies do not keep a percentage of the Bitcoins that they receive. They're financially strong, they could do it.

how they can sell more then people are buying if no one buy? you can't sell more if no one is buying what you are selling...my point is that there must be always someone who is buying what you are selling, not talking about the price, so we could be tanked to $1 already...

anyway the price is tanking not because they sell more, but because buyers lower their walls, if they see much selling pressure or because there are not enough buyers at the highest wall value
18185  Economy / Economics / Re: Investment Banker - Bitcoin is not a "real" currency ;-> on: April 06, 2015, 10:11:18 AM
fiat money are not real currency either, because a real currency should not lose its value over time

also a true currency must not be necessarily a tangible thing, digital one are considered true currency in the same way

so no, bitcoin is a true currency much more than any fiat
18186  Economy / Economics / Re: Was Bitcoin actually just a Pump and Dump? on: April 06, 2015, 09:54:35 AM
The bubble did some serious fuckery that still is persecuting us. The real problem is that we still didn't reset the market and every pump and dump since the bubble just delayed the inevitable retest of lows. Are we at a point were we can finally shake out the problems this bubble created? Many indicators on longterm say no, but if it's actually this is the time when fresh money comes in, then we might be at a turning point.

Could you expand more on which problems the bubble had created, and what do you actually mean by resetting the market? I suspect that the bubble (I guess you mean that soaring to 1000$+ highs) was not good either, but I can't pinpoint what's wrong with it exactly (that is still pursuing us)...

that bubble 1200 peak created problem related to many people that lost money(many "average joe" aka newbies), because they rode the wave, and now those same people lost faith in bitcoin and they will never invest against unless the price fall to sub 100

those same people told their story to their family and friends, which is result in a big spreading of talking against how not good is bitcoin as investment ecc...

this is the problem which that bubble caused, a big one indeed
18187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Interest... again on: April 06, 2015, 09:42:57 AM
banks also are not that secure(there were many case of stolen money all over the world), they aren't so much different then current bitcoin situation, yet people keep trust them, so it's a matter of habit than anything else

I agree that banks are not that secure. But banks deal with trillions of USD worth of fiat every day, and only a few millions get stolen. Compare that to Bitcoin. Some 15% of all the Bitcoins in circulation has been stolen over the last 15 months.

many hole in the security aren't bitcoin fault, it's because of the incompetence of some exchange, cough gox, bitstamp cough, or general people that don't know how to protect their desktop

i never lost any bitcoin due to thieves
18188  Economy / Economics / Re: Difference between money(BTC) and currency(USD) on: April 06, 2015, 07:17:08 AM
Hii Smiley,

I think money is paper money and currency can include all forms like gold bars, silver dollars, etc,. I could be wrong but this is my guess.

the point of the video was that "Money" in general should not lose value, while the dollar as a currency is losing value, so the dollar isn't classified as a real money because of this
18189  Other / New forum software / Re: Ignore a user's avatar and signature buttons on: April 06, 2015, 07:15:19 AM
i don't know if everyone start to ignoring signature, then what is the point of carrying one for advertising? i know sign are annoying for many but the point still stand
18190  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is a good cloud ming site on: April 06, 2015, 06:50:35 AM
Im still getting a bad vibe from all your answers about even using a cloud miner.......has anyone been with a cloud mining site more then a year and has profits??? i just dont want to give my coins away.

Well, I still like my method (It's renting, not cloud).  Not going into detail again because of the haters.  Today though because the pool was quite lucky I made 0.5 BTC.  Yes, not a lie.  0.5 BTC PROFIT in 24 hours.

interesting, what algo did you rent? because i don't you rented sha for that amount

in theory even renting shouldn't be profitable because who control the rig know how much you can earn by mining the various altcoin, this result in him setting a price that won't make you roi so easy
18191  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is a game of conviction on: April 06, 2015, 06:41:52 AM
in other simple words, keep holding and you will become rich right? that's what every one should do, leave the whales eat each other, while we hold forever
18192  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Pics of Large Miner Hosting Center Under Construction on: April 06, 2015, 06:12:40 AM
really big farm, how many tera there are supposed to be there at the end? also your current price and total cost of that thing? i'm just curious
18193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you have a feeling BTC has slowed down a bit? on: April 06, 2015, 06:10:22 AM
I read an article by some analyst recently claiming that the presence of scammers and opportunists in BTC economy is actually a good thing since it signals the vibrant and growing nature of BTC.
Hm, I would prefer they find some other more vibrant economy.

scammers usually dump fast, they aren't like hungry early adopters, this is actually a good thing because it help spreading bitcoin faster, even if there is a big dump for this, the price will eventually recover, but now with a greater chance that more people are owning bitcoin
18194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The technology behind Bitcoin is not important on: April 06, 2015, 06:01:24 AM
i would say that the technology is important instead, but it isn't needed for averaje joe/josephine, they care only about fast and simple things, better to explain them that bitcoin are just money not contorlled by the bank, and they will surely love it
18195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Interest... again on: April 06, 2015, 05:58:01 AM
It might really go places once people are bright enough to separate the scum from the technology. That'll be a slow and steady process which may well never happen, but you never know.

Hmm... even exchanges with very high security levels such as Bitstamp have been hacked and their coins stolen. It will happen for the foreseeable future, and Bitcoin's reputation will continue to go down the drain.

banks also are not that secure(there were many case of stolen money all over the world), they aren't so much different then current bitcoin situation, yet people keep trust them, so it's a matter of habit than anything else
18196  Economy / Economics / Re: Seller Adoption Fail on: April 05, 2015, 08:28:58 PM
bitcoin adoption has started not many time ago, so i see no problem here, we are talking about end of the last year basically, it takes time for those big companyes to accept bitcoin, they need to work on security tool first before accepting it

btw that thing you posted isn't showing small companies anyway, there are many that accept bitcoin as a payment(like small restaurant, fast food ecc...)
18197  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newest Diff thread April 5 to April 18th on: April 05, 2015, 07:13:23 PM
i smell a small pump is incoming, based on this i say

+6% to +6.25%
18198  Other / Off-topic / Re: 2FA Options - Which is best? POLL on: April 05, 2015, 07:04:58 PM
Google Authenticator, but only because it's the only I have used.
Are there any other ones that are actually better?

there is, authy is pretty good, if you are poor and can't get even a economic smartphone and you are stuck with old standard phone, also i like the sms code, it's easy and fast

Authy is much less secure than most of the others and you are dependant on the Authy service. If anything happens to the Authy service you are SOL.

Google authenticator (and every other app that implements TOTP) isn't dependant on anything, it's stand-alone so even if Google were to disappear your app will continue working fine, with Authy you'd be fucked.

Also Authy has the ability to bypass 2FA on any of your accounts, so if there is a rogue employee or they are hacked then it could lead to many people being hacked.

And there are privacy issues as Authy knows when you are logging in, what websites you are logging into, what other Authy-enabled websites you use and your phone number and your IP. You also must disclose your phone number to them to use the service.

well i didn't know that authy come with all those problems, good to know i guess, the problem with GA is that it can't be used without a proper device, the pc version also is less secure than the standard one with a smartphone

when microsft started accepting bitcoin, i recall that the price went down(the famous drop under 200), the same for other major companies(dell, newegg ecc...)
I is really funny that when we have some really awesome bitcoin news: like you mention Microsoft acceptance, big hardware online store acceptance or something like that price of bitcoin is not rising at all, and as I recall in these cases it event went down a bit. But from the other side when we can even SLIGHTLY disturbing news: like when that ultra tiny chinese altcoin exchange got hacked last month or so, price of bitcoin went down momentarily. What a pessimistic bunch we are...
