1821  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Not all projects are bad on: March 03, 2020, 03:44:39 PM
Not all developers are equal and not all "investors" are equal. There are several developers behind which serious investors poured a lot of money in form of BTC or Ether. The problem is the easy "marketing" that is available now. Most of these projects market only to the so called bounty hunters who only bring behind them another set of moon hopefuls.
Back in 2017, when this was all very new, people flocked like crazy at the combination of BTC Ann thread, Whitepaper, Website, Telegram and Reddit channel. A lot of us bought our first BTC or ETH to "invest" in these. The lucky ones got them from Signature campaign here when there were still a few serious devs left. That "flock of hopefuls" has kept decreasing and i guess only the scammiest of them remain in the market still offering bounties and airdrops.

If the Alts are to have a future, everybody should simply stop rehashing old ideas into new whitepapers and stop with inventing bullshit names for their website. Most of all, people looking for bounties should stop giving these people the cheap, free marketing from thousands of FB and twitter accounts. Its a losing game with diminishing returns for everybody in the space. Just focus on the few serious ones and get involved.
1822  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] OWNR Wallet Signature Campaign [Full Member - Legendary Member] +3 Sr on: March 03, 2020, 01:11:42 PM
Hello everyone!

We in OWNR WALLET would like to say thank you for your particiaption in this campaign! Hope we'll get really good results here.

And special thanks to sujonali1819 as an author and manager of the campaign. Please follow his instructions properly to get rewards.

Keep on crypto!
Thanks for choosing BCT forum for the promotion. I read the blog posts and your thoughts on wallet being closed source. You also mentioned about plans to add on further services. It'd be great if we can have a discussion on the ANN thread about your plans for the future.
1823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Worthy Airdrops on: March 03, 2020, 12:44:40 PM
Fair enough to say the least, but it can be better.

I only rate BAT Airdrop for various reasons clear known to me. And I suggest you avoid bazooka because the volume is terrifying and also avoid working for peanuts.

Everyone to their decisions, so dyor and make your choices.
This is a very important consideration that people should have some respect for the work they put in. Its customary to look down upon these "bounty hunters" because they do shit work for shit tokens. If everybody actually decided to just stop accepting peanut tokens, the situation would greatly improve because only serious projects would have this form of "marketing" available to them.

Right now, everyone and anyone can start a campaign and offer airdrops. Maybe if the bounty hunters insisted to work only for those projects which give bitcoin as a reward (however small it maybe), this in itself can improve the situation. I have just been back to the alt-coin section as i am wearing a signature for a multicoin wallet. Excited to look around to see if anything has changed through the crypto winter.
1824  Local / Off-Topic (India) / Re: Best hindi shayari on: March 01, 2020, 05:03:37 AM
I wrote this for someone... After going through the various shayaris and nazms posted here, felt like sharing:

काश मैं तुम्हे कुछ कह पाता,
लेकिन खैर कुछ बातें अनकही ही सही।

काश तुम उन्हें सुन पाती ,
लेकिन शायद जो न सुना वो ज़्यादा बेहतर।

बस उम्मीद करता हूँ ,
जिससे सुनो उसे इस बात की कद्र रहे ;
कि वो कितना ख़ुशनसीब है, पर शायद उसे इस बात का एहसास भी न हो।

बस जैसी भी रहो, खुश रहो;
जहां भी रहो ऐसी ही रहो।

न जाने क्यों कभी कभी मेरे अंदर,
एक नासमझी का सैलाब सा उमर उठता है;

EDIT: Wud love to hear your comments and take on this.

I actually loved it. Adhoore pyaar ki bhi alag hi baat hoti hai though its a hurtful bitch. Also, I think in such cases where your innermost feelings remained unsaid (due to circumstances or plain pussification of Indian boys in the 90s who had to score and get into engineering..lol) are basically just a huge waste of emotions and memory as a man.
The best option is to find another person who is worthy enough and then pour all these ज़ज़्बात onto her, if there is still time and the kavi has not stumbled from one mistake to the next..
1825  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OWNR wallet. Buy, exchange and store crypto. Licensed service. on: March 01, 2020, 04:56:35 AM
Hello. Thanks for choosing Bitcointalk for the promotion of your wallet and your plan to onboard further services around this. I have joined your Sig campaign and have a few questions.

In the beginning of the ANN thread there was a talk about wallet being closed source to which you had been quite candid in accepting that due to the competition and the way crypto is working (especially for Alts), this is not possible. I followed that thread and OmegaStarscream shared this post where you have mentioned that you will open source some part of the code. Do you have any tentative time line for that? In the meantime, Do you think a third-party security audit would be way to do it?

The bitfinex announcement page has also mentioned that they have partnered with OWNR wallet. Can you shed some light on who are the people involved in this process in case they have a public presence or are recognizable from their contributions as developers. I understand that starting a service in crypto is a huge task with the challenges of trust and security. A service HAS to start somewhere and a history of great user experience is the only way to build trust. Good luck for the endeavor.

1827  Other / Serious discussion / Re: It's hard to know who to believe. on: February 28, 2020, 04:20:55 AM
Ahh...What a thread this was. Me and Carlton started with discussions on environmental costs of Solar power plants vs Fossil-fired power plants, the economic implications of Kyoto protocol and climate accords, the possibility of powerful petroleum lobbies being the driving force to push through such legislation.
It was all going fine. How the hell did we get hung up on 0.01%...LOL..Ohh yeah, it was Banks' fault.. Grin (Told ya, Banks are the worst)

All in all, this was indeed a good discussion on climate change although the original question is about "Who to trust?" That important philosophical debate is getting sidelined due to petty arguments over climate change.

I love Jet Cash's theories though. When it comes to climate change, he is the in-house conspiracy theorist's theorist. It was amusing to see the "Cows farting Methane into atmosphere" argument coming up..Haha, gotta love all you crazy people here.
1828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Project Anastasia: Bitcoiners Against Identity Theft [re: Craig Wright scam] on: February 25, 2020, 06:08:17 AM
Just in case anyone is still thinking that Andresen's general ambivalence about Wright's identity theft is morally neutral: https://twitter.com/5omni/status/1231940554306572289

I have an honest question for you: do you believe Gavin wasn't telling the truth when he said there's a chance that Wright may be Satoshi? And by "telling the truth," I mean conveying what he actually believes. He distinctly left open the possibility that Faketoshi is real, and I would like to know if you believe he did that dishonestly.
Maybe he isn't accusing Gavin of being outright dishonest. Gavin's ambivalence is being touted in that tweet(and countless other places) as "proof" that CSW is Satoshi. The sheer damage potential of such misinformation closes any case to give him the benefit of doubt.
Gavin is not being "morally neutral" when he chooses not to call CSWs bluff but rather take the chance of being labeled by history as Satoshi's first apostle or something.

I am a huge enthusiast of Bitcoin in India and as professional in the Payment Industry. My crs for the year will be raving about Bitcoin.
I have a blog where I intend to write about disrupting thoughts to build an ideal society. Bitcoin will be one of the big topics.
My key aim is to Bitcoin for the Indian and make its entry as frictionless as possible.
Which means that Bitcoin would need to bear a strong resemblance to anything considered of value in India.
I will publish my next article in a day or so on how Bitcoin needs to take on India or anywhere in the world to transform their economy

I am new here and joined today only but never copy others message word to word  Grin anyways hello to u and all Indians here

J, if you have any instance of this being a completely copied message, please do share. And yes, plagiarism is considered a pretty serious offense and it can result in a complete ban from the forum.
1832  Local / Mining (India) / Re: Bitcoin Mining Hardware Ranchi on: February 24, 2020, 07:58:05 AM
Can you offer SHA-256 miners? Do give an idea of the hardware you have available and the prices you are looking for?
1833  Other / Archival / Re: Bitmain S9 Antminers with power supply units for sale in Hyderabad!! on: February 24, 2020, 03:33:06 AM
--snip-- I do understand there are tons of scammers in this world and its not easy to believe a newbie on a forum, BUT it is also called a forum and things can be discussed in a professional and polite way without hurting the sentiments of each other. I'm still here defending myself because I know I'm honest and will never tolerate any trash directed at me, however, if some sadist keeps pushing me then probably I'll quit this platform.
See, if you do understand and have yourself gone through being scammed then you should also understand that the intention here is not to hurt your sentiments. Unfortunately, there is a bias against newbie accounts looking to sell valuable hardware as other new people can easily be misguided. I tend to be extra skeptical myself. Please don't take it personally.

Now talking about the miners, the Antminers are indeed real and I have personally ordered them from Bitmain in 2017. I had a lot of trouble getting those Antminers from the customs department back then and I have also posted a thread on this very platform with the username "funkey29" explaining all the details bit by bit so that other buyers would be more informed and careful before spending their hard earned money, you can still find that thread with the title "Buying Miners from Bitmain and Customs Duties in India".
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1805691.0

I soon realized that buying Antminers was the biggest mistake of my life, I could have probably become a millionaire had I just hold on to my Bitcoins, but my destiny had other plans. Anyway, its a long and sad story man, I had no intentions of bringing all this but I had to since you and other intellectuals here have so many doubts regarding the authenticity of my thread. It makes no sense when you say I'm trying to get all needy, its 100% true that I'm in need of money which is why I posted this thread but so is everyone (I'm talking about the genuine ones by the way) in this section. If a senior member says he/she is selling for fun, would that be believable enough? That's absolute nonsense!!
It must be sad to have that kind of opportunity cost lost. I hope you did use them to mine since 2018 or so and recovered some investment. You see most people who were here at the India sub from beginning have mostly gone away. There are no success stories but scams galore in the media. Then there are the GPU/ mining rig scammers on OLX who popped around the same time. That is why it is hard to believe if someone proposes to sell mining equipment to us newbies who joined the forum after BTC popped. Most people active in India sub as of now are newbies themselves as far as it comes to mining. Even, Bitmain stopped delivering to India a long time ago.

I'm sorry I'm in no position to send the Antminers anywhere other than selling them to people who can come to my small rented house and collect them personally...... I'll definitely try to upload the pictures, I just need some time.
Yeah, please do upload the pictures with a current day tag, your username and this topic. I wonder if @Heisenberg_Uncertainty could help to verify this through some friend's friend. Also, try to take my comment on being professional positively. Read the bold part in context without taking offense. I would hate for the India sub to sound so unwelcoming. I even said "we would be glad to have you".
Basically just try to be professional. If you have those miners you must be old to crypto. We would be glad to have a new member who knows about mining.
1834  Local / India / Re: NEW PEOPLE JOINING INDIAN SUB: INTRO AND MERIT on: February 24, 2020, 02:52:56 AM
● Say something about how you stumbled upon bitcoin and the forum.

I have been involved in Online Marketplace Forums since 2018 to provide my services in various fields. Most of them accept crypto as transaction medium. That's when, I was introduced to crypto, mainly BTC.

I had no interest in crypto earlier but soon read a lot about Blockchain Technology and it really amaze me how it operates with transparency.

I stumbled across this forum 3 to 4 times before finally registering to it now.

● What are your expectations and what are you here for.

I have no expectation honestly. Just came here to learn mkre about crypto and connect with similar minded people.
Glad to have you here Sharmaji. I hope you will find a lot of similar minded people here. We are all looking to increase the entropy in the India sub. Welcome..
1835  Other / Archival / Re: Bitmain S9 Antminers with power supply units for sale in Hyderabad!! on: February 21, 2020, 04:14:31 AM
I can understand your ego but I never said anything about profitability, like I said I have just shared an information and its up to people to decide whether to buy the Antminers or not, I just don't understand why you're so hell bent on trying to find fault with me and my thread.
Its not the ego Dear Hyderabadi. There are enough people here who have been scammed by such accounts claiming to be newbies so the first reaction is skepticism to such posts. Granted that you said, "come, see and test". People looking to buy such stuff are generally excited noobs themselves who will possibly go to any extent to believe you.

What have I done to you, am I not allowed to share an information?
Its not about what you have done to UltraElite. Its about someone else getting scammed through PM's. Even if you meet in person, there is no guarantee that it cannot be a scam. Scammers in India are smarter than average and you can't be skeptic enough in this space.

yes I do agree that I'm a poor guy who can't afford a copper membership and I use a limited data plan on a Jio sim, does it make you happy now?
You are selling antminers and you are a poor guy?? Now that is just dishonest and typical scammer behavior of trying to act all needy.

See the thing is, if you have those antminers, someone would love to take them from you even if they are unprofitable. Say for purely academic purposes. I would if i was in Hyderabad. If you really care to make a deal, you should upload a picture of the miners and PSUs. Put a white paper with your bitcointalk name and Date clearly visible on it beside the equipment when you take the shot. Upload them to imgur (its free). Post the URL here and we will repost it for you so the images can appear.

Basically just try to be professional. If you have those miners you must be old to crypto. We would be glad to have a new member who knows about mining.
To anybody looking to actually make such deals through PM's, My advice would be to not trust the said person till you can personally meet them in a neutral place somewhere. The market for Computer parts, miners etc is stock-filled with scammers who will go to any extent to fool you. These are generally smart people and I have enough of a bad experience to tell you not to trust anything other than a public reputation which shows a history of successful transactions or an actual personal trade.

Also, it shouldn't be a problem for you to send them packaged to somewhere else if we cover shipping etc. Lot of bubble wrap and a good courier service should do. Any plans to do that? If someone can demonstrate that they are trustworthy, I'll be willing to buy one or two of these depending on how much you want for them.
1836  Local / Buyer/ Seller Reputations (India) / Re: I was scammed by a person named Rubi Khatun on: February 21, 2020, 03:47:22 AM
--snip--
DO NOT SEND HER ANYTHING
Do not send anyone crypto else till you have a way to ascertain there reputation. Much less to women with exotic names who give off an air of importance without anything to back it.
Plus, your partner is just a novice to have trusted her. Her experience says "INTERNATIONAL COMPANY"..How much of a red flag he needed?
1837  Local / India / Re: NEW PEOPLE JOINING INDIAN SUB: INTRO AND MERIT on: February 17, 2020, 04:36:42 AM
There are 2 merit sources who are very much active in our local board. It's too bad that you still can't identify them.
Really? I am not aware of merit sources been awarded to our local baord.

I saw Heisenberg_Hunter applied to be a merit source but I thought he is awarding merits recently from personal sMerits. Lips sealed
Akram, Did you read the OP?

Below you can find the content the topic was originally about. Suffice to say, it'll serve the merit function too and we have quite a few merit sources available now to make your time and effort in the India-sub worth your while.
I think this merit-source excuse should no longer be the reason for people to not be active in their own sub. We are doing this just to be helpful and bump interest. My expectation is that it makes people want to be involved in the space and contribute, rather than waste time only looking for pennies in the altcoin bounties.
1838  Local / India / Re: NEW PEOPLE JOINING INDIAN SUB: INTRO AND MERIT on: February 17, 2020, 04:22:04 AM
It's good to see Indians are talking about merit and helping to others, but a year back there is no way to get merit and never seen such threads here. I left the forum long back and just started to see this lovely activity. I am hoping to reach member level soon by spending most time here.
I see that you joined around the time when merit was introduced. You said in a post that you post from mobile which tells me that you really are interested in crypto. Like everyone else, you were looking for altcoin bounties. If they still work, do what you want but I'd like to see the useful posts and contributory discussions.
Your first post says you wanted to "invest" in bitcoin. So, How about an intro then? Of course not your actual information. I have mentioned a few talking points in the OP. We can start from there..and Welcome..
1839  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Antminer S9 +PSU for sale Brand new on: February 15, 2020, 04:03:49 AM
Hello jsk. Can you share pictures of the miners?

Have you ever had any successful trades on the forum? Are you a miner yourself because if you are then we'd love to have some of those back in the Indian community here.
1840  Local / India / Re: NEW PEOPLE JOINING INDIAN SUB: INTRO AND MERIT on: February 15, 2020, 03:52:20 AM
Seriously speaking, I had no intentions to join the signature campaigns to make a part-time income as I was not even aware about it before I could join this forum. (But, I have intentions to earn money by offering my services though Grin )

Good to see you Rohan. checked both of your threads and you are offering a service that has a lot of competition. Yet, from what i have seen other managers do on forum, perseverance is the name of the game. Someone was asking for a free vouch on your whitepaper design page. Not sure why they think its free though.

This forum has taught me a lot of new things which includes trading. I am finding much interest in trading only because of the "trading discussion" section which helps me a lot in my analysis.

That is awesome if you are taking trading seriously. The good thing is that it can be applied as a skill outside too. I have never gotten into the nitty-gritty of candles and what not but it is always good to have members like you who are trying to be productive here at the forum. Hope to see you around often.

Indian board have very few active members compared to other local boards and we doesn't have a merit source yet and no moderator since Benson stepped down from moderating so the available members have to support each others and make this board more active and less spam.

Hello akram. We do have a few merit sources now waiting to give merit to newbies who would like to engage. Granted its not much, but it is non-zero for sure.
