1821  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: Transaktion hängt fest seit 12.04.16 on: April 20, 2016, 06:19:11 PM
Hallo,

PS I know electrum cold storage is secure but still that does not provide peace of mind.I know chances are low but i still fear that if someone just got lucky and somehow by luck create new wallet and got the same seed then i will lose all the bitcoins  Shocked

Your fear is excessively unreasonable. Here are more unreasonable fears:

1. There is a chance that someone might generate your paper wallet's private key.
2. There is a chance that someone might generate your Trezor's seed.

This! Chances that someone by accident gets the same seed as you is as likely as someone winning a large lottery several times in a row. Might as well be afraid that you get hit by space debris[1] thrice in a single day which is still ~340 times[2] more likely than you losing your bitcoin.

1824  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can a transaction be cancelled on: April 20, 2016, 06:05:56 PM
Hello, can a BTC transaction be cancelled before it has been confirmed, or is it that once broadcast it is not possible to cancel at any time ?
If i'm not mistaking, you can create a new output, using the same inputs as you used for the transaction to be cancelled. Make sure you have a higher fee for the new transaction...

I've never tried this myself, but i picked it up somewhere on this forum... Might be mistaking tough.

When transaction "hanging" in network some wallets have option to fill up transaction fee - so we can say in other words that cancel present transaction and send one more with different fee, but it is the same transaction just fee is different.

Cancelling transaction is not possible.

@merelcoin you are right, you can create a new transaction with the same inputs and change some small stuff like fee for example and broadcast the new tx as a double spend.

@aleandromagno, can you explain more about this, which wallet has this feature? is it in console with typing in code or is it like in the interface something called double spend with extra fees?

AFAIK they are refering to "replace by fee" (RBF), which is possible with bitcoin core if the first TX allows it and its not actually available via the GUI. Its more a "its possible" thing. I dont know of any wallet that actually implements RBF all the way to the GUI.

Hä???
https://coin.dance/nodes/share

4463 Bitcoin Core nodes 65%

2052 Bitcoin Classic nodes 29%

1826  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: help with new bitcoin doubler on: April 20, 2016, 08:08:46 AM
i did read and it is running as we speak

The problem is that its unrealistic to double any amount of bitcoin within 3 days. I have invested in dice sites and saw a return of roughly 0.3% per month. Thats not going to double you any coins in 3 days. You can go 10x kelly to increase the profit, but this also increases your risk. This is esp. true if you have no offsite funds to cover the lost investments. One Nakowa and you are in the negative.

It's a very bad idea to post your IP in a public space.
You should wait till it finishes syncing before making sure it works.

All IPs are public, its the internet.

Thanks for the responses.

Yes, it is still syncing.
-snip-

Its normal that the number of connections is low during sync or even at first when your IP is not widely known by other nodes. It will grow over time, but dont expect too much from a dynamic IP (even though it only changes once a week/month).

Hello Admins and Bitcoin Experts.

I need help.
I have private key one of my btc addresses. but it is in Base58 format. I don't know how to import base58 format private keys. I tried it with blockchain in simple Import option but it showed me a different address.

please some one help me about this.

You can use bitaddress[1] to convert between different key formats. Use the offline version is you plan to keep the key.

[1] https://www.bitaddress.org/

not available base58 format in this tool. any other Idea?

To be honest I didnt expect you to actually have a base58 key, because WIF is in base58. How did you get a base58 formatted key that is missing the WIF checksum?

Edit: it looks like its an blockchain.info export format. Im not familiar with that format, maybe someone else can chime in. It might have some time to see if I can find a solution with some test keys.
1831  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Where to download Bitcoin blockchain? on: April 19, 2016, 09:28:37 AM
It will take me about a week to download blockchain with the wallet.  Sad
Has anyone used http://en.blockchaindownload.nl before? Is it legit? It would save me a lot of time...

No it will not. You will download the blockchain data first and then verify it. If you do it with the client you can do both at the same time.

If you are connected to bad nodes, add:

Code:
addnode=188.68.53.44:8333
addnode=37.120.160.55:8333
addnode=178.254.35.104:8333

to your bitcoin.conf[1].

If you have a high amount of RAM (6 or more) add:

Code:
dbcache=4096

to your bitcoin.conf to avoid writes to disk. Make sure you remove all these settings once you are done syncing.

If you have a slow CPU, wait.

David Cameron UK Prime Minister

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAeON73MImA

OMG he sat next to blockchain, so jelly.

Yeah mate I heard him saying that he sat alongside Rate Setter Blockchain and I Walker and I thought he was joking then I realized he was talking about different companies. But isn't the Blockchain an open-source project? Does this mean anyone can show up at a trade show and claim they are representing the Blockchain technology even you and me?

I think what he meant was "next to the CEO of blockchain.info". Hence my attempt at a joke that seemed to have failed.

Thank you for giving me some reassurance. I'll make sure to include a higher fee next time. Usually I just send BTC with my client's default settings and everything gets confirmed rather quickly but I guess I need to pay more attention lol

Its confirmed now.

Hi Guys, I am having a similar issue just a little worse case.  I sent .5 BTC over 1 month ago, and it still is frozen. I sent it on 3/13/16, and still "?" Unconfirmed 0/6 in my wallet. If I search for the transaction ID in blockchain.info It does not populate either.

I have sent nearly 50 btc over the years with this wallet, and never any issues. Thus, when I returned from business trip was shocked to see this had occurred.

I have copied the raw transaction from my main machine with main wallet. And on another machine, using same client, tried to re-broadcast with the sendrawtransaction .... but still did not work.

Can someone help me out please. Much appreciated!

Can you post the raw TX?

Also,

I ordered the whole deal for 70$ on Amazon

Phone=30$
MemCard=20$
+cable, carry case and a usb to Ethernet adapter
Total = 70$

Quite reasonable for an experiment.

Will write an update about the results.

cheers

Looking forward to that. Smiley
