1821  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Deprived Mining Speculation (DMS) on: June 14, 2013, 07:12:09 PM
Disclaimer: I'm not investing in DMS anything I can't afford to lose

Despite having read and re-read both the contract and many posts, I still don't grasp how exactly SELLING work, i.e. when exactly it would issue dividends.

I understand that an investor would be supposed to "buy SELLING if he thinks MINING is overpriced", but... why?

i.e., I guess that if PURCHASE is sold at 0.06, and MINING is sold at 0.03 and I think it should be priced 0.01 instead, then I would be supposed to buy SELLING up to 0.05, right? But, again, which would be the mechanism that makes me gain money if I buy SELLING in this case?
1822  Local / Italiano (Italian) / Re: Rubati 70 euro ! on: June 14, 2013, 10:06:29 AM

1823  Other / Meta / Will bitcointalk go public? on: June 14, 2013, 09:51:04 AM
Since bitcointalk now accepts money for ads, and pays its admins and mods with those revenues, I wonder if it has any intention of issuing shares in any exchange, such as btct.co...

I mean, has it been discussed or considered?
1824  Other / Meta / Re: Will the watchlist put me on a watchlist? on: June 14, 2013, 09:46:52 AM
What's my privacy on this board? I'm not concerned about threads that I post in, but what about the threads I only watch? Who has that information? Is this board's meta-data encrypted?
I've never heard anywhere of any kind of forum or forum-like site who stores encrypted data.
1825  Other / Meta / Re: Making self-moderated threads more sensible on: June 14, 2013, 09:45:21 AM
- Replace deleted post by a short system message that a post used to be at that place within the thread. I know this is possible with vbulletin even going so far as to offer a field that shows a reason for post deletion. So there might be a SMF plugin or option already allowing this.

Anyone else have some ideas?

Much better:

- You shouldn't be able to delete posts, only to "hide" them at most

I.e. they would appear kind of collapsed, more or less like the ignored user's one (but without the hassle of reading only one line at once).

Or, even better:

- No post deletion, simply moderator flagging, and if the moderator thinks the post should really be deleted, he does that.

1826  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: btc2pp.net SCAM ALERT on: June 14, 2013, 09:35:00 AM
Nonsense: why would you even believe him? He can at least show that he owns the btc address related to the transaction. That would be a start. Even if that would not prove the stealing of bitcoins.
And other than proving that he owns that address, what could he do?

Quite obviously if you needed proof to file accusations, nobody would, and scammers would run free, knowing that in most cases there's no proof at all.
1827  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi, i'm a not so newbie on: June 14, 2013, 09:31:09 AM
my name is Curveball. IRL i am a bank teller(the irony right?). i got interested in bitcoin a few months ago and its been a mostly positive experience. Until i fell for an asic scam, and the scammers used my private info to scam me out of my hard earned(and bought) bitcoins. just a heads up to people do not fall for these scams. they will get your private info for shipping and use it to extort you. i went ahead and paid the "ransom" and they have left me alone, but the thought of knowing someone out there with my personal information is quiet disheartening . Still, i won't let this deter me from bitcoin. i'm just giving you the heads up, cause once you get caught in a web with a scammer who has your personal information, the only thing you can do is pay the ransom or ignore them risking they steal your identity. Be careful you guys.

curve
So you paid them to delete your personal data, obviously without any proof they actually did delete it?

Not very well played, if I may...
1828  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: btc2pp.net SCAM ALERT on: June 14, 2013, 09:27:22 AM
Proof or did not happen.
A random transaction is not a proof.
Nonsense: what kind of proof would you expect?
A video of him making the payment?
1829  Local / Italiano (Italian) / Re: Rubati 70 euro ! on: June 14, 2013, 09:21:00 AM

1830  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: June 14, 2013, 08:51:54 AM
Not just because it was funny, but because its a nicely contrarian concept in the internet era that you can still build a $100M internet business in under a year without a website, particularly apt when every Mom+Pop store has been told for 10 years "you must have a website, everyone has a website these days". Wrong, and demonstrably, not needed!
I disagree.

AM managed to prosper without a site because his competitors were either utter incompetents or at least quite slow: since AM actually delivered, people bought into that.

However not having a proper website - in general - hurts your potential and current customers, searching for informations about you.
The fact that AM has de facto monopoly over Bitcoin ASICs (not counting the vapour ones, of course), has much lessened this "problem".
1831  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin source code is a giant mess on: June 13, 2013, 11:58:33 AM
If code is less readable, you're wrong.
It's as simple as that.
i.e. for the very same reason you oppose goto, goto is good in some situations.
1832  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin source code is a giant mess on: June 13, 2013, 11:57:12 AM

Code:
   bool done = false;
   bool some_cond = false;
   for( size_t i = 0; i < 10 && !done; i++ )
   {
      for( size_t j = 0; j < 10 && !done; j++ )
      {
         for( size_t k = 0; k < 10 && !done; k++ )
         {
            if( some_cond )
            {
               done = true;
               break;
            }
         }
      }
   }

This is horrible and *MUCH* less clear than a simple goto.

Code:
   bool some_cond = false;
   for( size_t i = 0; i < 10; i++ )
   {
      for( size_t j = 0; j < 10; j++ )
      {
         for( size_t k = 0; k < 10; k++ )
         {
            if( some_cond )
            {
               goto end;
            }
         }
      }
   }
   end:

If code is less readable, you're wrong.
It's as simple as that.

OMG OMG meat propaganda!

What about the chemtrails?
1834  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin source code is a giant mess on: June 13, 2013, 10:43:09 AM
to explain the problem with pseudo c++ code(pseudo code with c syntax, gotos and exceptions. as i can't code C++, but hate it on principal):
Code:
try {
  goto out;
} catch exception {
 print("am im getting printed or not?");
} finally {
 print("okay, does i get printed too then?")
}
out:
throw exception;

This is a case of bad goto use.

As long as you don't jump outside of trys, or inside loops, that's fine.

I.e. it is mostly used to jump out of nested loops.
And yes, there are plenty of situations were nested loops make sense. And doing that with an exception is violating the KISS principle.
1835  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This baby was bought with bitcoins! on: June 13, 2013, 08:08:28 AM
There is nothing medical about creating dozens of lives so some redneck can have a litter.

The logic is simple. If you eat disfunctional food, you will also become disfunctional.  ie. gmo'd plants and tortured animal

You'll be hard pressed to find a doctor that will tell you this because most have little/no background in nutrition.

If we stay healthy, they are out of a job. This is why are organic farmers and holistic caregivers are being treated like criminals.
I thought you were joking, reading your first post, but you were being serious instead?!?
1836  Economy / Securities / Re: Financial Reporting for Securities on: June 13, 2013, 07:52:43 AM
MPEx is the standard of Bitcoin finance, and has been since inception. Familiarize yourself with it.
sbrotfl.

Rather standard for asseholry and incompetence, I'd say.

EDIT: Before any "Why only one?" posts start, these devices weren't fully burned in and some things are still being tested with BFGMiner for which they are using these devices.
considering "lucky" someone who had to wait 1 year for his order to be dispatched, and now getting a not fully-tested product, makes me lol.
1838  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Community Exchange w/ Options, DRIP, 2FA, API, CSV, etc. on: June 12, 2013, 05:12:47 PM
I purchased 10 ASICMINER-PT shares on BTC-TC last week and logged on this morning eager to see how much of a dividend was earned, however I do not see that any dividend was credited to my account.  Will somebody please explain how and when ASICMINER-PT dividends are distributed?
Likely tomorrow, IIRC.
1839  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] TAT.ASICMINER New Micro-share Passthrough! on: June 12, 2013, 04:54:53 PM
Looks like the dividend is stalled in the system. I'm not gonna mess with it this time though, I've learned my lesson...
Not stalled for everyone, I received it at 2013-06-12 18:09:10
Haven't reinvested it yet, not touching anything, just in case.

Java was already a step forward.
SBROFL.

Java is a terrible step backward, it's a total mess, manages to overcomplicates everything both over modern+higher level languages, AND over C/C++ themselves.
