1821  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 06, 2021, 03:38:43 AM
In today’s NBA drama, Ben Simmons has reportedly cutoff contact with everyone in the Philadelphia 76ers organization including ignoring calls from Joel Embid. Ben Simmons is saying he wants to end up on one of the California teams. I think his trade request could’ve been handled better but I understand he’s mad about the playoffs… This is how you end up a Sacramento King.
Yes, I just recently read about this. Now he hates them for letting him go or not offering any contract as fast as they could.
I want to see where he will land just to analyze if it will be a good decision for that team.
How many good players are still hanging as free agents?
Schroder, Ben, and Kawhi.
Drummond signed with 76ers with a veteran's contract. He said, "there was never any real beef with Embiid."
Not a lot with the Raptors, are they going to surprise us?
1822  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 05, 2021, 03:35:36 PM
They have also Marc Gasol, another big men who has experienced as well, and a threat to the outside. He didn't get a good exposure last season, but I'm sure Vogel will insert him if needed as we have seen in the playoffs against the Suns as he hit crucial 3. They let go of Caruso, but added Ariza to play the defense for them against shooting guards of the opposing team.
Thanks for the reminder. I forgot about Marc Gasol.
So yeah, they are really filled with Giants.  Grin
In terms of speed, I think Westbrook and Schroder will be ideal for it and they were teammates, right? Did Schroder reach WB when he was still at OKC?
But the only problem is, Schroder turned down the $84M extension. Which means? He doesn't like playing with WB? Or is it Lebron?
https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/dennis-schroder-is-running-out-of-options-on-free-agent-market-after-turning-down-an-84-million-extension/
Where would this dude fall? What team does have the cap to fill for him?
1823  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tokyo 2020 Men's Olympics Basketball Tournament on: August 05, 2021, 02:33:08 PM
it is hard to beat same opponent two times on the same competition, even if you are better, and it is especially hard, if you are a weaker opponent, as France obviously is, compared to USA, so the gold will probably go to USA, and silver to France
great match, Slovenia gives their best, but simply was not enough to win over France team, congrats to both teams for reaching semi-final
Doncic needs one more player in their team, that could decrease pressure on him
There is a weakness that can be seen in daylight with France. Lack of good bench players.
Gobert needs rest but the rules in the Olympics are strict when it comes to timeouts. 1 minute is one minute no more, no less.
Without anyone to hold the USA, they will absolutely take the lead.
The close game against Slovenia was the proof of it. Just 1 point win with almost a snatch if ever that lay-up was not blocked by Nicolas Batum.
1824  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tokyo 2020 Men's Olympics Basketball Tournament on: August 05, 2021, 02:57:20 AM
I'm not sure if US can "destroy" Australia here. Australia is a very good team because it also boosted with NBA stars. So if ever US will win, it's going to be a close match, so I'm not sure if US can cover the odds of -11.5 currently. Sharing my bet on the US vs Spain last game:

So I will go with the same bet, +11.5 @1.94.
For me, they can. I will take the highest risk at -13.5 for USA.
It's not that I don't trust Australia but in terms of backup players, we know the USA has a lot of players available that they can use while their best players are having their rest.
Matisse Thybulle will be assigned with KD but no one can really defend that dude.
Jrue Holiday will try to stop Patty Mills with his speed and height advantage. Australia's high-performance game will be their clutch to win the semis.
1825  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The reason why investors often lose money on: August 05, 2021, 01:28:07 AM
I think you should add to your list that a drop in price is not directly equalling losing money. We still own the coin and as long as we are not selling we don't realise our loss. On paper we might be losing money but it is not yet confirmed. In the future we could always see another rally in the coin and make back our losses. As trader we might be inclined to trade coins quickly, but as an investor we could always switch to a more long term approach. Just like with Doge Coin for example, there wasn't much price changes for years and then all of a sudden the coin started to rally.
Precisely. 1 Bitcoin will always be 1 Bitcoin. If you sell some of it, that's when you lose Bitcoin.
I like how the OP idea putting rules for himself. It may not be applicable to everyone but we have our own kind of view with investing or trading.
In a sense, it's the correct method for him while some will not agree.
Just like this case.
1. Never sell because the price looks high. For example, if you look at it from 10 to 20, what should you judge at this time is what is preventing them from 20-50?
Short-term traders will try to short this and never expect more. Investors will.
The mindset to take the profits as soon as possible should be intact when you trade.
1826  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 05, 2021, 12:26:35 AM
Melo, Ariza, and Howard definitely will have a secondary role on the court. However, they might be very useful if top players of the Lakers starting lineup are injured as it was during the previous season. So it looks like the Lakers are trying to create a strong bench.
IMO they want a defensive team. A team that would highlight the true nature of Frank Vogel. Defense.
They may be old but they are known for their high-level aggressiveness in D and that's all the Lakers need that had been missing last year.
Offense is not much of a problem with WB, Lebron, Melo, and Davis.
Dwight is also a good backup for AD, to avoid stressing his injuries and give him minutes to rest. I just realized they are now filled with big men. Giants.
1827  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tokyo 2020 Men's Olympics Basketball Tournament on: August 04, 2021, 04:04:22 PM
Let's see, but the biggest opponent of the USA now is France as they lose in the opening, so if USA will win and France will win, this will be a good battle for the Gold and personally, I would put my bet on France as I'm looking for an upset.
It's a different USA team now unlike how they played with France the first time.
I would not put that kind of history basis if you are really trying to bet for them.
First, they will have to go thru Slovenia and it will be a hell of a fight for that team ain't weak. Even if they try to defend Luka hard, the other players are stepping up like Dragic and Cancar.
If I am lucky I might win my bet for Slovenia as winners minus USA.
1828  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker casino but need KYC, is this really necessary? on: August 04, 2021, 02:33:58 PM
It makes no sense if it is just for a few hundred dollars but for like 20 thousand above, it should be.
Just to avoid criminals just spinning their money using the casinos.
I have been used to no KYC ever since. From Yolodice to Sportsbet. None. Even if it takes like 0.1-0.3 BTC they are not even asking for anything just yet.
But of course, if you go above their limits then it must be done because they will be the ones having problems with authorities if they won't abide by the rules.
OP's example though is not necessary.
1829  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin current stage and price on: August 04, 2021, 11:43:22 AM
We've seen this before.
It sways up at large proportions then it stayed at a short range for a long time.
I think this is it again. $38-43k could be its moving price and if we could still make money out of that short-range movement then it's cool.
There is no recent big news outside that could trigger a hype leading to unexplained movements. Plus, NFT are still intact unlike how ICO cooled down before after a year. I guess we won't be seeing that $60k again for a long period of time.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/31950939/golden-state-warriors-stephen-curry-gets-4-year-215m-extension
Quote
Two-time NBA MVP and three-time champion Stephen Curry has agreed to a four-year, $215 million contract extension with the Golden State Warriors, making him the first player in history to sign two $200 million-plus contracts, his agent, Jeff Austin of Octagon Basketball, told ESPN.
Bad news for other teams. Curry ain't available no more. The Golden State Warriors locked him until the average retirement of an NBA player.

Hassan Whiteside also agreed to a deal with Utah Jazz. Gobert and Whiteside? What?!
So that was the plan for letting Favors go. I think they are going to build a wall below the rim.

Markieff Morris also signed with the Heat. I was just asking myself yesterday what the Heat is lacking after the sign of Lowry. A forward.
Now they gave the answer.

1831  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 03, 2021, 03:58:26 PM
Acquiring Butler from the last Bubble brings the fans back to Miami,

Management see that so they can't let this star to go and find another team, it's  about how
they'll secure those fans to keep supporting the team and adding Lowry may complete them as Big 3.

don't get me wrong but that's how I see this, they want to continue being contender and Butler and Bam have a good
connection they just need another star who can add the damage when both of them are being trap or have a bad night.
That game in the bubble against Lebron James was the reason Miami Heat made Butler their new franchise player.
It's the inconsistency that I don't like about him. But maybe with the addition of Lowry, it will go away.
Let's admit it, they are at worst when Dragic was playing, maybe it's his age. They don't really have the pointguard material in their midst.
Herro is still inexperienced and Nunn also is not the playmaker type. Let's see what chemistry they can develop now that Lowry is around.
1832  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tokyo 2020 Men's Olympics Basketball Tournament on: August 03, 2021, 01:48:32 PM
Full of emotions for Luis Scola and the rest of the Argentina team.
This is big for them especially for Scola and this may be the last time we will see him in the Olympics.
3rd quarter was still fun with just 6 point lead until Australia got too far away making it harder to close the gap with Dante Exum's explosive 11 point run.

Argentina's shooting percentage was low and the defense was not there. Next Olympic game, they know what they are missing. Shooters.
1833  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin as a speculative asset or as currency on: August 03, 2021, 01:00:09 PM
If the cost is high, do you think people will spend $5 on something worth $1?
When Bitcoin transaction fees are reduced or there are no transaction fees, everyone can use Bitcoin to pay. At this time, it means that Bitcoin is a currency.
But there will also be people who have been holding Bitcoin, waiting for the price of Bitcoin to rise. I think there are more people holding Bitcoin.
Bitcoin and currency are very different. Bitcoin can be used as a means of payment, not currency because it is volatile, in contrast to fiat currency whose value remains the same even though it is stored for years. Sometimes it is made speculative, because if it is stored and its value can increase or decrease.
The sentences seem to contradict each other.
It's a currency, no doubt. You use it for payment then it means it is a currency.
It became an asset when investors saw a possibility for demands to go higher but at the end of the day, it will, and will always be a currency.

Right now, we can stay on keeping it as an asset because the future is unknown. Although I am still optimistic there will be a change someday even with different cryptocurrencies popping out of the blue.
1834  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in cryptocurrencies. on: August 03, 2021, 09:55:01 AM
Low risk, high return? No, but I hope so. Most of the time it's a high risk, no return.  Grin
The risk will always be there, no doubt about that. But you can lower it using your own skills of reading comprehensions and understanding logic.
Take a project with team members trying to be anonymous. Will you invest in that?
How about a team without even a strategy on how they will market their product? I guess not.

It's still a high risk even with Bitcoin and Ethereum. It just looks not when you compare the price before to now. But what if you are the one in the middle of all that?
You sold early, you buy at a higher price.
1835  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 02, 2021, 12:05:07 PM
Think this way, If Nets gambled with Durant who missed 1 season due to serious injury, why can't other teams or the Clippers gamble for Leonard who does not suffer from a serious injury, his agent is right, they are just trying to maximize his contract as they know he deserved it.
I like the comparison. It's either they are getting greedy or just maximizing every contract while Kawhi is still young.
But here is my idea, if he feels like Clippers is home he may be trying to get a longer contract than what was offered to him.
We know Kawhi had been taking just short contracts from the Raptors then the Clippers.
Could the reason be like that? He feels better now at Los Angeles and will accept to be the face of their franchise rather than jumping from one team to another.
As long as they can offer him the right price.
1836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 02, 2021, 07:09:03 AM
Kawhi just declined his player option.

Quote
Kawhi Leonard has declined his $36M player option for next season and becomes a free agent, per source. Now, the expectation is that Leonard will negotiate a new deal to stay with Clippers.
@ChrisBHaynes
 first on declining option.
What is his agent thinking? He ended the playoffs with an injury and yet they think Kawhi will get a better number?
He sure will not play for the Lakers because they will be in luxury tax if they take him. What team? How much? I thought he was home already.
Will he really leave PG13 after pulling him in Clippers? This gives more twist to what will happen to the trades.
1837  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 02, 2021, 03:47:05 AM
Still biased for the Dallas Mavericks here. I hope they will be able to nail one next and fixed those internal issues within the organization.
Just like how the Mavs with Nowitzki buried the All-Star Miami Heat. They cannot even make a reason behind their loss.
Mavs just got better and Dirk's concentration to bring the trophy to Dallas was higher than any player out there.
No "What If's".
I like how these teams will try and create a super team for a ring. That way, they will look more of a villain for me and my Denver Nuggets team. Grin Sorry, I am also biased here.
1838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could crypto replace government? on: August 01, 2021, 04:28:19 PM
I am actually hoping it is in the near future but we have to be real, it is not.
I may not even see it before I die. It will take years or maybe decades before you could eliminate/change the traditional system.
The question of when will always pop out because there is a really little movement that we could see, close to none.
This pandemic could actually be a good first phase for a change but look "nada".
You could not change how a government works but it could be improved.
1839  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season Champion: Milwaukee Bucks on: August 01, 2021, 03:38:48 PM
AD is less stressed if he is surrounded with great players, unlike with the Pelicans where he has to lift the team, here in Lakers, he has Lebron and now Westbrook to carry the team, so he will not likely get injured, hopefully. The management has to also ensure that he will be healthy in the playoffs as the Lakers can enter the playoffs even with Davis getting limited minutes only.
Yes, that's correct.
Now, they can ensure a good season even if someone is hurt. We don't want it but it just happens.
Westbrook and Lebron are known for strong bodies that could even play the whole season without hurting themselves, that's great assurance for the Lakers fans.
The bucks did a great job in the previous off-season by adding capable players to their lineup, the addition of Holiday is really huge, plus they have Portis who is unexpected to perform at a high level in the NBA Finals. IMO, there's no need to change or upgrade the lineup of the Bucks, they had already the best chemistry and I'm sure they'll succeed in the next season.
Oh yes, I hope they can stick with that roster. Bench players are overflowing with confidence.
I didn't even see them shake a bit except for Pat Connaughton for those 2 bad free throws.  Grin But he still made his amends by getting the rebounds. Big ones.
1840  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The market situation is deteriorating day by day.. on: August 01, 2021, 02:54:11 PM
I want to believe it is true, but for me, it's not.
All our investments are in jeopardy if we make a bad call.
Large investors, small ones, or even those in the middle fear a mistake of selling or buying at the wrong time.
Because if they do, getting it back will be difficult.
Imagine someone sold just months ago (December 2020) when he saw profits at $20k because that's the all-time high at 2017-2018. Many believed it won't get higher than that but yet it did. So, where are they now?
Are they still expecting a big dump? Maybe. Or they could have bought at a higher price which means loss instead of profits.
It's not deteriorating, it's just unpredictable.
