18201  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 24, 2015, 12:51:57 PM
Apparently a large commercial German airliner crashed about a hour ago or so.

18202  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Economics says that mining should be profitable... So why is it unprofitable? on: March 24, 2015, 12:47:07 PM
Its not only the power. If you buy large quantities you can huge discounts compared to buying one or two units.

A company ordering $1,000,000 of miners might get 50% discount from an individual buying one or two miners. The company will get ROI much faster then the individuals.

18203  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New Diff thread Mar 22 to Apr. 5 not ready for prime time on: March 24, 2015, 12:41:26 PM
Yikes! Both days are over +10% and BTC/USD is crashing.

Not looking good for us miners!

It Is (+9.24%) and price is 258.  Ugh

Are these the S5 Batch 5 miners being powered up? I didn't think they sold that many of them, only maybe 300 units or so.
18204  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S2 upgrade kit? EDIT: New info 3/11 on: March 24, 2015, 12:00:27 PM
I'd say real close.  Same type of sound ( low hum ) not high whine.  I had five S3+'s and my 2 Ant S2's are about the same in db.

Ahh perfect. Thanks. There are no Youtube videos and most people say they are either very quiet and some say they are very loud. Don't want my wife to be upset.

18205  Bitcoin / Hardware / What is some affordable and good thermal paste / compound ? on: March 24, 2015, 11:59:15 AM
I want to reapply the thermal compound on most of my rigs because the factory stuff was either applied incorrectly, dried out, or is very bad cheap stuff.

Obviously we can't all use Arctic Silver 5 from those tiny 4g bottles.

Was wondering if anyone had any luck with some affordable larger spread compounds on eBay?

There are a few there which are 100g about 4W/mh thermal conductivity for around $15 or so.

2-3 th would be awesome, info hopefully will come out this next week.  I enjoy running them, they're fairly quiet ( 2 @ 67db ) and the cooling is adequate.

How are they compared to an S3+
18208  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S2 Discussion and Support Thread on: March 24, 2015, 10:07:15 AM
Just picked one of these babies up.

Compared to an S3 how loud is it approx?

Anybody know what miners he is talking about?

When my pool is dead or when my internet connection is out with my S3+ all it does it beep and beep, it doesn't overheat past 80C.

18212  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Lot of 8 Ice Fury for sale (will seperate) on: March 24, 2015, 02:31:55 AM
LOL.

Was interested in these until I found out they only hash at 2.5Gh/s

Looking for something that can hash at 2.5Th/s
18213  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 7x AntMiner S2 - US only on: March 24, 2015, 02:06:26 AM
Can you ship by USPS instead and find out how much it cost to ship to Canada?

NEvermind, looked it up and shipping would be $150.
18214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My life is fucked! Bought 5 BTC and lost all! God punish me. on: March 24, 2015, 02:01:58 AM
Well he did login again about a month after posting this, so fingers crossed he was ok. Tough loss, especially if this is all he had.

The thing that got me was he had children who was going to had to go without because of his stupid mistake   Angry  We all make mistakes that is being human but there was no need to transfer everything you have to a dice site.

Maybe if you really wanted to you send 0.5BTC or 1 over but not everything you have. Chances are if he had children he is fine now but that must have been a hard lesson in what not to do, lesson to others that read this..

Yes but 5 BTC right now is not as much as it was before. I think the guy that lost like 300 DRK is in a much worse position considering that DRK is hitting new yearly  highs.
18215  Economy / Gambling / Re: LiberOptions - Suspicious! on: March 24, 2015, 02:00:00 AM
This is a very suspicious service with no information about the company, who is behind it, country of origin, contact information, CEO, etc.

I would not be surprised if these guys run off with your BTC!

You know, this kind of information: https://btc.sx/about/about/

Yes I would stay away from them until they admit where they get their feed from. I had to ask 3 times and each and everytime my request is ignored.
18216  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: March 23, 2015, 10:36:40 PM
What is the best way to overheat the miner to check if it will shut down at 80C?

Blocking or unplugging the fan in my mind, could be voiding a warranty.  My test was to simply disconnect my internet - which is a real life occurrence (failed internet service).  It might take a few minutes for the current information to finish its hashing and start beeping, but it will.

Why would no internet connection cause it to overheat?
18217  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: small home mining, the future? on: March 23, 2015, 05:00:19 PM
In my opinion for there to be any profit for small home miners like ourselves then BTC needs to stay low. If the price remains constant, then some large farms might come online when newer technology comes out. If price goes down, no new technology will come out and difficulty will remain constant or decrease.

If price goes up, mining will be profitable for only a short amount of time.
18218  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Most Popular & Trusted Bitcoin Game | Huge Community | Free BTC on: March 23, 2015, 04:03:51 PM
And do I enter the server hash in there? Or client hash.

Bah
There is no such thing as a client hash. There is only a server seed, server seed hash and client seed.

So for my verifier http://dicesites.com/primedice/verifier it's:

Server seed hash = "Server Seed SHA-256 Hash"
Server seed = "Server Seed Revealed"
Client seed = "Client Seed"

All under "Previous Seed Pair" at the Provably fair tab at Primedice.

You can only verify bets from your previous session. If you see the values only at "Current Seed Pair" with a high number of "Bets Made with pair", you have to "Rerandomize" and randomize your client seed to see the previous server seed. You will then see all the values go to "Previous Seed Pair" including the "Server seed" so you can verify your bets.

Last nonce = The number of bets you made (minus one.) You could remember this from the value "Bets Made with pair" before you randomized your server seed. You can also see this if you click on the details of your last bet under: "Client Seed (nonced)". In the end of that seed it will say ....7ab264-151 or something like that, so your "Last nonce" was 151. Ideally PD could list this under "Previous Seed Pair" BTW, but currently they don't.

For a better understanding of how provably fair works, I advise you to read my article at http://dicesites.com/provably-fair

Yes but its my understanding that the client seed is rarely reset. Usually for every session its the same, unless you manually reset it.

So after 1 bet the webmaster can know your client seed.
18219  Economy / Gambling / Re: [WARNING] A personal warning to you all. on: March 23, 2015, 04:01:37 PM
Wow, i feel really bad for the guy now that DRK is hitting new highs against the USD.

I guess you live and learn.

Put something infront of the front fan?
