18221  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: December 08, 2018, 12:33:07 AM
I dropped hosting price to power cost to keep people from shutting down immediately because I need heat for winter. I was at 65% capacity by then already. I'm rolling out a USB hub that should kit nicely with NewPacs but it'll also be a good standalone product whose sales will be insulated from Bitcoin whims, but I'm getting a late start and having half my savings disappear in the span of a few weeks sure doesn't help. It also doesn't help that a lot of my parts now cost more than they used to, thanks Trump.

Phil, if you'd like a sample hub to play with and give me an opinion I can send you one.

I haven't done much mining myself in at least a year but even with the diff dropping, even if I could afford miners I wouldn't buy any.

Sent a pm.
18222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: December 07, 2018, 08:54:11 PM

With regard to difficulty, it will eventually drop

It's already started - Bitcoin hashrate/difficulty has dropped about 20% in the last 5 weeks.
Part of that is probably Jihan Wu / Bitmain shifting their farm hashrate around for his "War on BCH-SV" - but it's been pretty steady since about the first of November and is STILL happening.

At this point, I refuse to even CONSIDER buying anything from Bitmain again - Wu's actions have been the primary cause of the current market collapse and have hurt ALL MINERS out of self-centered ego and greed, and I refuse to support someone like that in ANY way shape or form in the future.
Let Jihan Wu and Bitmain ROT - they seem to be having some major cash flow issues of late and they DESERVE to go bankrupt - and seem to be heading that way already at least in part DUE to their own actions that have killed profitability.

I won't say fuck bitmain they suck, but WTF are they doing?
18223  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: December 07, 2018, 08:26:53 PM
Well whoever's doing it needs to take a break. Another thousand dollar dump in a week making a 50% drop in four weeks, sales evaporating, hosting customers turning off - I'm really not looking forward to going bankrupt and shutting down my business right after Christmas.

yeah it has to be very hard on your business model.

I am down  from 400-600 a day last Nov-Dec-Jan  to 150 a month.

big drop for me.
18224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FutureBit Project Apollo: Bringing ASIC Mining Back to the Home Miner! on: December 07, 2018, 05:49:35 PM
Hello,

Thanks for posting the image yesterday.

I found the /opt/apolloapi inside and the repository with links to GitHub.
Code:
mount -t ext4 -o loop,offset=4194304 apollo_final.img /mnt/apollo

Will the apolloapi repository remain private on GitHub or is it going to be made public?

Also, with the ARM A7 controller, do you have any machine type recommendations for use with QEMU to evaluate the image and test further development?
I only see a generic arm32v7 specified in the Dockerfile.

Best Regards,
-Xi

its private for now.

keep it that way for a while as you will be cloned quickly once you release it.
I would worry about a 10 chip clone hurting your gear and the network .

Not sure if that can be done  but if it could it would be painful.
18225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: December 07, 2018, 05:45:15 PM
I am mining 12x 1080ti's   these are free power  but 50-50 on the coins  so it is 6x 1080ti's
I am mining 4x vegas      this is about 800 watts so 20kwatts a day or 600 a month cost 84 dollars at 14 cents these heat my house  bill is lowered.
=======================================================================
I am mining

4x s9I's

cost is 3 for 130 a month
and 1 for 130 a month  so 260 a month

so my power cost is 340 a month I get about 100 worth of heat so net down 240 for power.
=================================================================================

I am mining 1 m10 free power but 50-50 on the coins so it is 17th. not 34th

so 17th + 55th = 72th that is all btc  and is 0.094 btc a month x 3400 =  319 in btc - 240 in power I am ahead 79 a month

not count the bci  which is about 15 coins a day of which I get 5 coins or 1.80 a day or 54 a month

so 79 +54 = 133 a month  which is more likely 100-110 a month profit.
==========================================================

I also get about 40 bci a month in interest which is  16 bucks or so.

I can do this for years since I am a little plus at the moment for each month.
worse case I am 100 plus a month best case I am 150 plus a month.

a far cry from 400 to 600 a day in december 2017
I made more money in Nov and Dec of 2017 then I did in every other month added from july 2012 to dec 2018  that is about 77 months U=I have mined  and the 2 best beat the other 75 totaled
18226  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: December 07, 2018, 04:14:06 AM
I agree on this. The diff and prices right now are heavily manipulated by someone (not pointing fingers here). But evidence does suggest that. Strap in boys, we're going in for  several months of turmoil. Hope you got your Fiat stocks ready!

Bitmain via hashnest  there I pointed a finger or 2.
18227  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 100 watt or less miner.. With 16nm Chips.. on: December 06, 2018, 04:11:33 PM
Talking about jstefanop's Apollo? I've been meaning to follow up with that guy for a while. He does good work.

Stickminers are all I got right now, and I'm just about the only one in the world still building them. In the last year or so I've seen two other outfits come out with stickminers, but they were both Chinese clones of my designs.

My Terminus R808 from the first part of this year was the first sub-100W miner in a long time but it wasn't very good so was discontinued. I'm currently working with Bitmain's BM1387 on the stickminer but that chip is EOL so something new must be had for a close-to-viable updated design. But I'll let you know, it's already in the works.

your new sticks are pretty good.  dont use  a lot of power and are stable.

jstefanop's apollo should show up at my house in the next few days.  it should be the most efficient ltc miner on the market.

I am hoping you build  a 200-400 watt quiet 256 miner with new chips.

18230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: IMAX 1600 WATT PSU on: December 06, 2018, 02:49:11 PM
I have a PSU on a rig, thats blowing air like a rocket launcher, immediately after start, the fans blow at probably 100%
I have the same PSU on another rig, thats acting normal...

Is the PSU fan defected, or is this adjustable in BiOS of MOBO
I have a CH81AP MOBO.

Any advice ?

simple buy this

https://www.amazon.com/FLOUREON-Electricity-Monitor-Voltage-Measuring/dp/B07B3VQBZH/ref=sr_1_14?

and see what is your watts

if both rigs do the exact same  watts  then the psu has an issue.

if one rig pulls 2x or 1.5x the power  then it is not the psu.

if you mine  you should have a watt meter

and this is also good

along with this

so what will work with telegram?
18232  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: December 06, 2018, 01:39:53 PM
Why not paying 4800 for a 4800 asset in that wallet?

Hey I don't want secret assets and I won't pay a premium to get them.

But some people want to do it.

So the answer is  yes  pay 4800 and keep it on the up and up.
18233  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 100 watt or less miner.. With 16nm Chips.. on: December 06, 2018, 01:37:34 PM
Something new here maybe with 7nm chips?
The only rig with 100watt is the old Prospero x1 with 100ghs and 1watt/ghs...
I want to heat a room and not a house... Grin
Stickminer are not worth it and the antrouter with sha256 is too expensive and also not what i need.
Is there really no market for a low energy sha256miner around 100watt  Huh

well  there is a ltc miner  that works it is very efficient  but costly.

Sidehacks new sticks are decent.

but there is no  miner for sha256 in the 100 watt area I know of
18234  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: whatsminer M10, 33T,65w/T , in stock, price as low as 873$ on: December 06, 2018, 01:23:25 PM
Well I have purchased from you before and had good results

so 873 usd  to buy it

and 3.64 a day to host it  3.64 x 30 = 110 a month  I rounded this

at the moment  that gear earns 172 a month

so a 62 profit .

That  means 873/62 = 14 months

I am busy today but on Friday  New York time I will try to use  telegram

I will send you an email today.

I just sent the email to you.

thanks again
18235  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: December 06, 2018, 01:12:15 AM
I don't mean to take the thread off topic. Its just that watching the mining carnage and the zero sum mining game in action, it seems like an incredible amount of financial outlay and upkeep and risk vs. just buying bitcoin.

I know you are on freeish solar so that's a different ballgame. But the upside to mining is "discounted" coins. The downside is loss. Buying bitcoin anytime since 2009 except for a handful of months in 2017 is now incredible gains, with zero maintenance or overhead.

I find these mining threads very educational as I try to understand the mentality behind them.

Well I can earn a certain profit at mining.

Anyone with low power cost can do it.

hodl has no guarantee.

Risk is lower to mine if your power cost is dirt cheap.

hodl a coin has high risk.

So do I make a certain  10 to 20%  year after year  and once in a while  have a 90% year  2013 and 2018  were 90% years for me.

this year is about 3-5% year the worst I have had.

Stay on topic guys. Grin

Bitcoin Difficulty:   5,646,403,851,534

Projected Epoch Length:   between 14d 12h 13m 53s and 15d 17h 58m 12s

-10%  to -8% seems pretty likely.

But on any given day the missing 16,000,000,000gh could come back online  as it is out there somewhere

The diff day adjustment high for hash was 53,000,000,000gh or about 3,785,714 s9's if network was all s9's

The real high for has was around 56,000,000,000 or about 4,000,000 s9's

so the current number now is 37,500,000,000

that is a drop of 18,500,000,000 gh or 1,321,400 s9's are off line
18237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: December 05, 2018, 10:04:49 PM
i think the future may be along the line of if a new algo comes along it goes like this:

1. most every gpu on the planet jumps in. because easy to code, so quick to make for public miners

2. then, very fast, fpga assisted kick a lot of stand alone gpus out. slightly harder to code vs gpu alone, but could provide decent boost and power savings

3. then, probably fast again, larger more capable fpgas kick most or all gpu/gpu assisted.  because probably harder to find suitable fpga boards and code for them vs gpu assist alone

4. then asic kicks out fpga. but takes a while to design/manufacture.

possibly skip #2 depending on algo

rinse and repeat.

That's exactly how I expect it to go as well, with Asics possibly not being made depending on the increase over FPGA and cost to manufacture.

and the mining industry dies or goes to where it was going in the first place larger farms that serve as power plant load stabilizers .

because the bottom foundation to mining the gamer/miner is killed off in that scenario above that the two of you believe in.

18238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: December 05, 2018, 04:31:53 PM
Thanks so much for selling a useless FPGA without the needed program, you FUCKING USELESS DOUCHES!

Calm your shit, it's barely out. Did you even buy one or are you angry because?

You don't rush software unless you want broken buggy stuff.

You don't rush selling hardware to the public without the applicable software; especially when there were delays that should have given additional time to develop software lol...
Why not? So people could complain that they were mining on them themselves and holding them before releasing the product. Because that's exactly what would be said if they decide to not send out finished hardware over software, people wouldn't believe them.
Acorn was to be released in August. Whenever there were questions about SQRL Miner (to test it even without Acorn) the answer was that it would be released with Acorns. It is already December 5. Hardware without software is useless. By the way, the numbers illustrating the advantage of using Acorn, were released in June, I believe.

So if they made them up  and believed they could write software to achieve those numbers it has now created an interesting problem for them.

Have to say gear looks nice.

Seems to be they should be able to show us  those  estimates  were real right now  and they don't.

Frankly that =  "bad news"

18239  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: December 05, 2018, 01:34:04 PM
So.. do you prefer to pay 100usd to energy company for 50 usd of BTC indeed buy directly 100usd of BTC? wow

Not sure he does but mining at a loss on an affordable scale is not so dumb

Ie loss of a few hunderd usd  a month for a year.  lets say  you spent 4800 this year mining and have 1 btc.

It can be in a wallet  that no one knows about but yourself  so paying  4800 for a 3900 asset is not so dumb  if it goes up to 20000 in a few years.

and you could sell the coin for 19000 cash  to a guy that has a fresh core wallet  and he now has a hidden asset.
18240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Third Party Reviews of Blackminer F1 on: December 05, 2018, 01:25:36 PM
Suchmoon has dropped the negative  and changed it to neutral.

@ everybody  times are hard for mining now  tons of scams cause lots of fears.

@ suchmoon thank you

@ op  please keep doing the right thing and ship out gear as quickly as you can.
