1841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I convert my bitcoin to Ethereum? on: August 16, 2017, 01:55:32 PM
When investing, I’m a big fan of diversification of portfolios. I believe that both Ethereum and Bitcoin offer value, albeit in different ways.
no, ethereum doesn't offer much value. don't confuse getting pump and dumped and being a profitable speculative tool as offering value. the issues that this crypto project has are too many for it to have any value at all.

Quote
Even though Ethereum is positioning itself to become a large platform, the fact that Bitcoin is so well known makes it the first place where people invest.
wrong again.
bitcoin is in the first place because it is offering something useful that people want and use. a decentralized currency

what does ethereum offer?
a platform to create ICOs and scam others easily!
it can't handle large number of transactions
the fees are high
creating a smart contract is not easy compared to its competitors and it costs more too.
1842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do people know the number of bitcoins Satoshi has ? on: August 16, 2017, 01:46:49 PM
So okay, this is just a estimation, so in case Bitcoin price rise enough, he could not be a labeled as the wealthiest man on Earth. Beside him, who is the biggest bitcoins possessor ? Roger Ver with 300 000BTC ?

probably Hal Finney. and other anonymous people who have been hodling and keeping to themselves.
and remember that these are all speculations, not facts. unless any of these sign a message from a bitcoin key holding whatever amount we can never know how much they really hold. it can be 10 satoshi or 300 000 bitcoin.
1843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you define Bitcoin "going mainstream"? on: August 15, 2017, 12:50:30 PM
it is getting there. this is not a process that can happen in 6 months! it needs a couple of years at least and Japan has newly adopted bitcoin. and just FYI when you go into the city and look at the different shops in shop centers in Japan, you can see the bitcoin is accepted here sign. if that is not adoption then i don't know what is!

FYI: If you learn from history, then you know the day that 'Uber drivers', food servers, and grandmothers are jumping into Bitcoin investment is the exact time you need to have sold all of yours, since the masses are about to get burned.

it is quite the opposite!
when you see everyone is on the bitcoin train that means you have been too late and now it is time to start using the wealth that you have gathered (if you were wise enough) because when mass adoption happens, price goes extremely high and becomes dead stable.
1844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BREAKING NEWS]: Apple Store Start Accepting Bitcoin and Ethereum on: August 15, 2017, 12:45:29 PM
Quote
The “Apple cafeConnect” service center, which sells Apple gadgets and provides services for their repair has begun accepting payments in cryptocurrencies.
Oh. I got too excited there. Freakin clickbait articles. It's just an apple accessories store in Belarus named “Apple cafeConnect”, ladies and gentlemen, not Apple Inc. Still good news, but yeah. It's not the official Apple company that started accepting bitcoin and ethereum. Oh well, for now, one can only dream of such tech giants accepting cryptocurrencies for payments.

Not sure if OP actually read the article and not only the headline.

as a rule of thumb whenever you see an article from a less known news site or generally a news article with ethereum in it, you should disregard it because it is either a big fat lie or a very exaggerated half truth. Smiley
1845  Economy / Speculation / Re: Peak of Bitcoin price on: August 15, 2017, 11:03:53 AM
well, here is the deal. and i am telling you as a BitcoinHodler.
when price surges upwards like this, in a one big rise in a very short time, things surely look scary. and they are scary.

what you should do is first making up your mind about what you want to do. if you are a long term holder then don't worry just come back in 5 years and enjoy the million dollar bitcoin Wink.
second is if you want to do some trading and make profit. do some risk assessments. we know that price can not go up like this forever, it will stop and corrects at some point. at that point there will be a dip before the continuation of the rise. if you are good at trading, find that top and sell some there and get ready to buy back in that dip.
1846  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Critical updates you need to know about in crypto on: August 14, 2017, 11:52:22 AM
for bitcoin related updates which are related to critical matters there used to be an alert system in bitcoin core which was removed!
now all you can do is to
- visit bitcoin.org and look at the top to see the alert
- subscribe to mailing list and see a lot of stuff which may not interest you or not even understand half of it (since it is technical)
- visit news sites such as coindesk to read up on news every once in a while
- visit bitcointalk to read the top of the page above the toolbar (Home, Help, Search,...) that is the critical news section

for altcoins you need to check their announcement topic again read the news sites and subscribe to their reddit sub or something similar (slack, twitter,...)
1847  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: stop listen to Newbie on: August 14, 2017, 11:42:49 AM
this is true but it is not limited to Newbie accounts though. you can see well known old members spread a lot of wrong information. and it doesn't end there. there may be some people who are really making a speculation but they are simply wrong.

you should never follow any of them blindly. read and make up your own decision. sometimes some good information can be found in some of them too. you just have to dig deep enough!
1848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH vs NEO vs STRAT? on: August 14, 2017, 11:26:26 AM
NEO's rise has been spectacular. Another opportunity to get rich in crypto if you were involved when it was worth cents... did anyone get rich from this one?
no. sadly i wasn't aware of its existence! and at some point it become too late to get in. of course i got some trades done and did some short term dumping to make some profit but i can't call it getting rich!

Quote
And why did people invest on this thing anyway?
people invest in a lot of things. some of them succeed and get pumped big times and some of them succeed and get pumped very small. and rarely an altcoin is just shit and impossible to pump.

Quote
STRAT is the cheaper of the 3. Can anyone explain why NEO is any better than STRAT? STRAT seems more attractive because it hasn't had such a big pop yet. Im just wondering what's the catch with NEO other than a chinese pump and dump?
you know what, many people don't even care. i know it is a bit strange but in the altcoin scene many don't even know what these coins are and what they do and they don't care about it either.
what matters is the profit.
1849  Economy / Speculation / Re: How Long Bitcoin Will Bullish on: August 14, 2017, 11:21:35 AM
Now... this year 2017 is a reflection of 2013...  Bitcoin prices rose significantly along with increased adoption and problem-solving. But whether Bitcoin prices can still rise in 2018 later? While the price correction of the price spike has not occurred at all. So what do you think guys?

This is no longer the bitcoin of what we all know, it is a completely different currency, its development is so terrible that we can predict. The higher the value, the greater the risk of collapse.

then what in the word are you doing on a bitcoin forum if it is so terrible as you say! move on man, you are wasting your time on a "terrible" thing. and please sell any bitcoins you own because i want a bigger stake in the very limited supply of 21 million.
1850  Economy / Speculation / I bet you all wish you were BitcoinHodlers now... on: August 14, 2017, 11:05:53 AM
where are all those topics calling us BitcoinHodlers dumb and were giving us Hodling advice anyways?

enjoy the work of art by a Hodler Grin

*See you again at $42,000
1851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: bitcoin to $4000 = altcoin market crash on: August 13, 2017, 07:28:57 AM
I'd have to agree with you on this point I think alot of folks cash out in to btc -> local currencies when the price of btc spikes then buy back in when it dies...it went from 1000 to ~300 -> $2500 to ~$1800 -> $3000 to ~4? ~5? who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a huge fucking pump and dump though ha

no dude, your history is way off the mark Wink
bitcoin price went up from $0.01 to $0.1 then $1 then $12 then $20 then $100 and then $200

by this time a malicious exchange got big enough (similar to poloniex of today for altcoins) which controlled about 75-80% of the total volume and fake pumped the tiny market of that day up to nearly $1200 and then scammed and ran away. we can exclude this from history

then price went up to $400, $600, $700 (the halvening) then broke $1000 then $1500 then $2000 then $2400 and then $2700 and then $3000 and now it has gone up fast to $4100

all this time each of these rises which are the same size happened over a good period of time for accumulation and then it went up higher and also there has been a lot of drops after each of these to make a healthy correction.

on the other hand a pump and dump means price goes up and then down not only up for 6 years (excluding Mt Gox from the total <8 )
in a pump and dump there is no correction either.
1852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is outperforming everything and Japan is the lead on: August 13, 2017, 07:21:10 AM
The prices of Bitcoin has risen exceptionally none would have expected it to reach 4k so soon, it's making a mockery of all other investments. Available in the market. I am not really surprised that Japan is leading this revelation, cause they are one of the leading Asian country to actually regulate it, then they can use it now as a currency so it's very good and efficient for them.its given their economy a solid boost, wonder when will other countries get the hint.

it is not really that hard to believe though!
and it is not unexpected either. many speculators were predicting a near $4000 price by now (a little lower like <5% lower) and here we are at their speculation.

besides, it is the adoption, it always happens like this. a very slow rise at first which is nearly stable then it speeds up at first with some corrections, and then it speeds up a lot. we are still at that first speed up which is small.
1853  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reasons behind this Rise/Bubble? on: August 12, 2017, 12:43:14 PM
the reason is pretty simple, a lot of people were waiting for a drop to happen before they buy. then it happened but they were scared the drop would be bigger (because of split and all that FUD). then the price went up, they were still scare. and it went up higher they now are scared in a different way. they have the fear to miss out and are buying as fast as they can.

and probably will continue to do for a while. and $4000+ is not out of the ordinary in this case either and that would be a bubble.
1854  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Pumping ETHERIUM? on: August 12, 2017, 12:32:19 PM
When someone will pump Etherium. July rate over 0.1 ETH/BTC. Now about 0.083.

haha, it will just get harder and harder to pump ethereum, as people start to give up on its rise and start their dumping.
there is also the pressure that bitcoin is imposing on the market with its rise. as you can see from the prices these days, they are all red which indicates hard drops.
if that was not enough there is still the ICO dumpers who are selling to get out and make their profit.

ps: it is 0.082 now
1855  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What coin should I buy today on: August 12, 2017, 12:24:50 PM
to be honest nothing looks good today.
altcoins are either overpumped and that is a terrible idea to buy any of them or they are falling hard because bitcoin price is rising with lightning speed.

as for NEO, i keep seeing people talking about it today. and that only means 1 thing: it is already too late to buy it. (it is a bag holder alert Wink)
also looking at the charts it has all signs of a bubble.
1856  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it safe to buy BTC from exchange and transfer directly to trading platform? on: August 12, 2017, 12:18:10 PM
Is it safe? Does it have advantages or disadvantages?

it is only as safe as trusting a third party can be safe!
they can run away and scam you, they can get hacked or say they were hacked and you lose money, your account can get hacked, and a lot of different ways to lose your account and with it your bitcoins.

the only advantage that i can think of is for traders who want to have their coins ready to sell and then buy back just as fast.
1857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Hearn still holding Bitcoin. on: August 12, 2017, 12:10:50 PM
why are you even talking about Mike Hearn. and who exactly are these FUDers that you think you are talking about. Mike himself said some stuff about bitcoin being dead and it was around the time price was $450. and someone who publicly claims bitcoin is dead will not obviously HODL a dead coin.
in other words you are calling Mike an FUDster. Wink
1858  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much fee for a $2 Coffee transaction at the end of this Aug month? on: August 11, 2017, 11:48:05 AM
i don't see anyone asking this so i will:
why do you want to buy coffee with bitcoin?

and more importantly, have you ever bought coffee with bitcoin before?
i mean the fees were pretty low last year, you could even send them for free and get a confirmation fast. were you (or anyone else) buying coffee with bitcoin?

to be honest this sounds more like one of those things that says "i will never use this in my life but i want to have the option".
1859  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you see coin good for trading ? on: August 11, 2017, 11:41:26 AM
first look at the charts and learn how to understand them.
then look for signs indicating a good investment and never invest just because someone said it is good or just because you thought the coins looks pretty.

a good high volume is always a nice sign to have.
check how much price has gone up in the past week or past month. for example a coin that has gone up 90% in the past 24 hours is not a good investment now.

and know that most things will be learned with time. not by reading stuff in comments Roll Eyes
1860  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What is happening with ETH? on: August 11, 2017, 11:29:51 AM
Ethereum succeed in making itself a need for other people, in this case ICOs. That is why it will always go up from now. And with the PoS around the corner, supply will be capped, and price will pump crazily.

you are indeed true about the first part that the ICOs are the only reason why ethereum went up in the first place and they actually are the reason it stays up for now.

but you are wrong about your second part. it can not last forever. you can't see new ICOs start up every day and still be successful enough to gather that much money. it will stop at some point and be limited to 1 or 2 every 6 months. and on top of it all the ICO dumps will crash the price.
