ahh gotcha, yea that is a good deal!

Yeah  I am taking a shot and pointing it to this pool.

the odds are slim

man that sucks about the properties - I wish I could turn my spare lot next to my house into an array - its only about 1.5 acres though.

also, someone is paying 130 a month to host s9's is that per each one? or total for all 3?

No someone gave me a deal he is hosting  3 of my s9i for 130 a month total.

Which is under 5 cents a kwatt.
18483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: October 31, 2018, 07:03:14 PM
I wish credit card was accepted as a means of payment. Asking people to drop cash/crypto on a product that will supposedly ship at some point is asking a lot.

I'm trying to figure out what makes the most sense for me. I have a TB250 BTC Pro (11x 1x slots) with 6x 1080Ti and 4x 1070. I was considering putting the nest x4 with 4x cle-101's into the only x16 slot, but before dropping ~$1,000 I want to feel confident that this will "work" if I'm primarily mining eth.

wait for real testing.

i do think the 4 slot nest is correct.

but you may be better  getting 2x 215+   then another 2x 215+ a month later

without real world tests simply don't buy yet.
18484  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac Stickminer Official Support Thread on: October 31, 2018, 02:26:28 AM
I did windows  win 10     Ccminer 4.11

Zadig on all sticks

I have a top end pc with 16 gb a 500 gb sd and an i7 6700t

I have an eyboot hub 49 ports with a high end psu 240 watts.

I will post bat in a bit.

So 8 sticks pull maybe

8+8 = 16
8.     = 16
5x4. = 40

So 72 watts.

Code:
cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bravo-mining.com:3333 -u philipma1957.two --gekko-compac-freq 150 --gekko-2pac-freq 125 --gekko-newpac-freq 175 -p x

My 2pac may be dying.

But all the compacs work with the NewPacs
18485  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How about a solar power source for pop one price mining on: October 31, 2018, 01:48:57 AM
Was this for the second Solar array you were planning? That sucks, as I feel you have a good model for what is available to people. How long does that kill the project for?

Not everyone has grants, investment capital or the right environment but it is a good project for those that do, especially if they want to mine with cheap energy costs. ( After the initial investment of course)

No this was  to be a portable  setup to mine with say 1 or 2 L3+  or 600 to 1400 watts.

Mine only in the day.
The inverters  are not any good.

As for a big array  a 73 acre site was too far and had a lot of setup issues.

A 28 acre site  that was perfect we lost the auction.

We have an empty 7 acre site and the town won't give approvals.

So we have not expanded power the whole year.

I did get a very small contract for hosting 3 s9i's  at 130 per month.  Which is nice. as that is under 5 cents a kwatt.

I helped a guy with his 50 miner farm and he contracted 3/50 of it to me.

cheap power is tough to get.
18486  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [CLOSED] FutureBit Apollo LTC Official Order Thread on: October 31, 2018, 01:43:54 AM
Hey guys quick update for all Apollo Batch 1 Pre-orders. Final design is complete and we have all major components ordered/in production currently. ASICs are also in hand and PCB production should start next week.

Unfortunately we got screwed over with Trump China Tarriffs and had to switch out some non critical suppliers which is going to cause a 1-2 week delay from the original end of October start shipment date. We are probably looking first week of November to get the first orders out and all shipments should be done by Mid-Nov.

Is this still the schedule?

building Nov 1 to Nov 14

shipping after Nov 15

Or have there been more changes?

Yes heatsinks are our bottleneck right now and scheduled to land Nov 9th, so final assembly will be 12-16th and hope to get the first orders out by the end of that week.

Okay  you are close to me  so it will ship quickly.  Thanks for up date.
18487  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How about a solar power source for pop one price mining on: October 31, 2018, 01:34:23 AM
We got more bad invertors.  so 0 for 2.  pretty much a busted project.
18488  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Wu Announces BM 7NM pending Miner release. 42 J/TH on: October 31, 2018, 01:33:05 AM
42J/TH ... didn't happen yet. Hope Halloween will bring some candies.

rumor has it they had another fail on wafer burn of 7nm chips.

  some say the third fail.
 some say the second fail.
18489  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: October 30, 2018, 01:53:42 PM
I've been looking for some more information on the Bitmain firmware for OAB.

So far what I've seen is improved efficiency at a  lower hashrate (-6% I think). So I doubt it will contribute overall to an increase in network hash. Before the dip in price I expected some people to fire up their S9's that are kicking around, some may still, but not enough to make a significant impact.

I still think the flat idea will hold true until these batches of efficient gear hit the market and have a few weeks of hashing in.

Yeah  we look to be -1%   at the moment  but to me the next jump may be a -3% fall.  Making us close to the Aug 24 numbers on bitcoinwisdom

"Aug 24 2018   6,727,225,469,722   5.29%   48,155,355,642 GH/s"    we may go this low and that would be nice.

I now have my

1 2pac
2 newpacs

all running at a total of 125gh

I will buy the 2 nest with 2 acorn 215+  if you don't want it.  Assuming it works and runs okay.

if i decide to sell youll get 1st dibs. but honestly im into the fpga thing more for education than expected profit. although that sure would be nice.

Yeah I cut all my Mining down a lot.

12 x 1080tis vs 40
And 4 Vegas 56s

1 m10
3 s9is
1 l3+

That is a total of well under 10kwatts.

I spend 1/3 the kwatts I did last fall.

wow thats a big drop from what i remember you running.

ive been coasting along with the same gear for around a year now. with the bear market asics and gpu seem to be a dead end at the moment as far as buying new gear with an expectation of any decent roi timeframe. guess we got spoiled in the past bull runs with 3 month rois.

fpga accelerated gpu mining seems like it may be a way out for those of us running gpus, especially older paid off gear that barely breaks even after power at the moment. only time (and shipping gear in the hands of regular miners) will tell of course. i figure its a decent bet. 50/50 maybe. well, in crypto 50/50 is pretty good odds anyway.

Best bet is to convert those GPUs into BTC and Hodl.

No as I just explained they will always profit due to my power deals.

Yeah my cheap power did not grow a lot.

I was able to get 4kwatts for 130 a month. That is about 4.2 cents a kwatt.

I have six 1080tis at 50-50 coin split.  Which is 3 free 1080tis.

I have a m10 at a 50-50 spilt which is 17th free.

I have 2 l3+ at a 50-50 split which is 1 free. L3+.

That is my cheap power.

All other power is 13 cents before heat which comes to 10 cents.  But 10 cents is not a lot of margin.

I could burn a lot more power if profit was there.  But profit at 10-13 cents is next to nothing.

Anybody on Raspian having issues with the new CGminer? I can only run CGminer for abour 24 hours before it crashes and gives me this error "corrupted size vs prev_size: 0x01b727d0

Then I get GSH 7: toggling ASIC nRST to reset, and then nothing.

try a bigger os drive (guessing)

i will get back to this in a day to see if I get your problem

Q. How can I set a different frequency for the NewPac vs 2Pac vs the Compac?

cgminer will accept one or all three parameters for the stickminer.
--gekko-newpac-freq 200 --gekko-compac-freq 200 --gekko-2pac-freq 150

thanks

give me an hour I will fire all up.

two new pacs at freq 125 giving me 60gh

edit 2 new pacs at freq 125 giving me 56gh and 20hw

I am using a good gub with fan cooling.

going to bump to freq 150

@citronick, you're still mining V7 on monero ocean? How's it going?
MoneroV8 is no go for my RX series because of the hashrate drop and higher consumption...so right now I'm doing eth on ethermine, but I'm thinking of switching to monero.

MoneroV8 ended up not a good option for me - see my last post - the devs had overdone things for miners - less hash, more power.... reminds me of ETH mess. So even monero.ocean is out for me, due to power constraints.

All this was a blessing in disguise, I continued mining XHV (Haven) since below a dollar, and cashed out about 1100 coins when it touched $2.40s recently.

Decent pool at "haven.miner.rocks"

Thank you for reply.

Looks like xmr-stak or xmrig does not get me the same hashrate that I have with claymore xmr. Claymore gives me 4950 per rig and xmrig gets me 3800-3900 with the same overclocking settings on SMOS.
It's odd..
For now I'm sticking with ethermine, not a big earn but hoping the price will go up in a few months..

V8  is good for my:

threadripper  1920x
Ryzen            1800x
Ryzen            2700x

they all seem to be earning 2x  the usd value  that they used to earn.
