"us people" are the ones not losing our ass in scams either.

I'll take that.

there's three separate threads here involving some kind of FPGA group buy, and they are all gigantic train wrecks.

This is not a scam as of today.  So don’t call it a scam.

I truly expect to be refunded next week.

Do you read discord if you did you would not post it as a scam.

What I will say it has been less then desired in terms of running it.

I truly do think they will deliver the gear and make the refunds no later then Veterans Day .

May I have the link for the Discord channel? thank you

I will go to my pc that has the links give me a bit of time.

18563  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Opinions on my mining plan? on: October 21, 2018, 09:41:01 PM
Basically it is like boxing you need a left and a right.

Your left is cheap power.
Your right is cheap gear.

That means you might make money.

You need a chin that takes a punch.

The punches you get are endless. Gear breaks. Psu breaks. Diff goes up. Price goes down.

So you need to be able to do rope a dope. Or thread water  sometimes for a year or more.

Waiting for the big punch to make a score.
18564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: October 21, 2018, 06:32:48 PM
Phil, hate to be right, but look at the BCI price now.

The HitBTC was completely bogus. We're basically trading under a dollar a coin now. At least with RVN you have a proper market.

Btw Marvell2's pool now has 6.5 GH net hash. We've already found 3 blocks! Smiley
We need a bit more, ideally, as total network hash has grown. We can't just leave it all to our amazing luck! Grin

you are far too short term  I am committed to mining BCI until I mine 1000 coins.
I beg to differ.
In terms of immediate profitability, BCI is not on top of the charts. So if your goal is to accumulate BCI, theoretically you'd be better off mining something more profitable and exchanging that coin for BCI. You'd get more.

If you mine because you want to support the BCI network, then that's another thing alltogether Smiley

Mining directly to a core wallet  has  tax advantages  that work for me.

I get that mining raven makes more money short term for me. But it causes more tax issues if I sell it for BCI

But mining bci to a wallet  and never cashing it makes for a less complex tax return for me when I do my 2018 return next april.

Remember it is a world wide game and being subject to different tax laws  makes a difference in mining strategy.
18565  Other / Off-topic / Re: Flat Earth on: October 21, 2018, 02:48:32 PM
If you stick a stick in the (sticky) ground, it will produce a shadow. The shadow moves as time passes (which is the principle for ancient Shadow Clocks). If the world had been flat, then two sticks in different locations would produce the same shadow

That's only if you assume the sun is 93 million miles away, the sun is a projected object whose distance can be measured with sextant. The measured distance to the sun is about 3,000 miles and at that distance the sun's light rays are divergent. The shadows cast by sticks are consistent with a close small sun (measured at a diameter of ~32 miles) over a flat and motionless plane.

Do you understand how much bullshit you're full of?

Why are they telling us this lie?

If indeed flat earth is true why lie to us?

I understand what you are saying, trouble is that the template needs to be very fine to do that as the chips have only 1mm thickness.. and you won't be getting them through the template to sand. But I got your point.

I am from Romania, a bit East from Brooklyn Smiley .

My friend is also from eastern europe. He came here 10 years ago. Grin

I knew chips were thin I thought they were a bit taller but if that thin  I think setting it up with your cnc to do a pass may work better.
18568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Breaker blowing with no changes in mining hardware on: October 20, 2018, 11:32:17 PM
Thanks for all the replies.  It looks like it might have been a bad psu and or breaker.  At the breaker box in the garage I replace one of the 20 amp breakers that stooped working and when I plugged one of the psus back in it made a loud pop and is now turned off.  Everything is running right now expect for the rig with the bad psu.

Funny you mention the gauge of the wire for the 60 amp breaker.  The person who owned the house before me was an electrician and ran a wire that was too small for 60 amps, lol.  I had it replaced a few months ago by an electrician  and had everything checked and brought up to code.

yeah  a 6 gauge is borderline  and constant pull of mining will kill it off.

4  gauge is better.

18570  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh OT Thread on: October 20, 2018, 11:25:38 PM
Mod's Note: At the request of a user I have split the OT posts from the original thread so the OT debate can continue unmoderated!

Might as well make this the "shoot the shit" about Amercian political tribalism, support trump, impeach trump etc etc thread!  I will just let the thread havea go in any old direction people feel like talking about so nothing would really be off topic as long as it's in relation somehow to american politics!

BTW legalize fucking weed already man, it being a federal sched 1 narcotic is just retarded LOL, its 2018 you know!

Also you americans are kind of ignorant when it comes to this shit.  If I buy and smoke week legally in my home country then I am technically never allowed to travel to the US because I have broken one of your federal laws, not in your country but in my country...

If I am asked at the airport if I have ever smoked weed and I answer truthfully yes, I am black listed and not allowed to enter the US again.  If I lie to the federal agent and say no, I have now committed a federal crime in the USA and broken your laws.

I think we need a wall on the 49th parallel and we should make the turtles pay for it!  Those god damn Canadians coming across the border HAS to be stopped at all costs!

Dude the late great or not so great president Ronald Reagon has got you covered  when in doubt about any answer to any question simply say "I am sorry I don't recall".

If pressed to answer yes or no   just answer with this question "did you ask me to answer yes or no how can I do that when I don't recall."  I am a very honest person and I simply don't recall everything I have done or said or read or seen.

It would be nice if someone at Squirrel Research even acknowledge us, tell us our refunds are on the way and for Acorns are coming out for the people that waited.

I go to discord  every day and thursday we were told squirrel refunds should happen the week of Oct 22- Oct 26th.

I can say both of my orders are marked paid and there is zero evidence on the squirrels website that I asked for a refund.
I did do multiple screen shots as I filled in the request of the refund.
So I have evidence on my pc that I asked for a refund.
No acknowledgment that I sent a survey in was ever sent to me.
So I will wait and see what they do.

18573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Breaker blowing with no changes in mining hardware on: October 20, 2018, 09:59:22 PM
Like the above poster said. Before you go replacing the breaker, make sure to test every PSU first.

I've had something similiar happen. The breaker kept blowing and I assumed it was a bad breaker. However after switching the rigs to another breaker the same thing happened AND after a few attempts I heard a VERY VERY LOUD BOOOOM!.

And basically it was some internal short with 1 PSU. I think the first few times the current protection shut it off and then it didn't work, so then the breaker shut it off and then finally some huge capacitor on the PSU basically exploded like a bomb, scared the crap out of me and took probably 2 days or so to get rid of the smell.

So just test your other rigs first and make sure its not a PSU that has gone bad.

most likely this

then maybe the circuit breaker has aged

lastly  60 amps needs good gauge wire  so how long is the run  under 20 feet to the garage or more like 50 feet?

at 60 amps you may need gauge 4 not gauge 6 wire

looking for better reference then this

https://www.reference.com/home-garden/correct-size-wire-60-amp-service-7e16432ae9936b30

note 4gauge below

https://www.reference.com/home-garden/size-electric-wire-need-60-amp-load-9fc92d8a41c05625?

here is chart

and 6 may work but can fall short
4 works  read the chart.

"Hey Rick, it seems false to me! I've Got a Buddy Who's an Expert in Acorn" cit.  But is a scam?

It is simple enough if the Acorns  do not get delivered and no refunds are issued to those that were allowed to apply for refunds then it will be a scam.

If the gear sent to Europe and already pre paid vat is charged again then those buyers would need a refund for the 2x vat if not it will be a scam.

For now as of today it has not been determined what will happen here.

But I certainly won't send in more orders.
18575  Other / Archival / Re: [WTS] Complete MSI 1080ti Gaming X Mining Rig on: October 20, 2018, 06:25:25 PM
So .425 btc is around 2700 usd correct?

You are correct, between $2650 and $2750

If you have any interest in breaking down the rig and just selling one or two of the cards I might be interested in grabbing them. Not looking for an entire rig, but let me know if this is something you'd be open to. I have a soft-spot for MSI Tongue

To anyone considering this, I can personally vouch for the quality of AM's cards, shipping and the care that goes into their equipment.

Not ATM.... My house has sold.  If I'm packing up some of it, I'll just pack up all of it.  Wink

p.s. Thanks for the kind words.

I Decided to pass on it.

What would be the arrangement if we do hit up the jackpot? Grin Its hard to purchase up ticket if we are on the other side of the world.
I would like to make bets or purchase shares but i would like to know on whats your response to my question..

I drooled on the odds.

the odds of matching all six numbers is one in 302.5 million.

I have no idea how we could ever fix it.  But it would be a fun problem to have. Grin

We would need tax lawyers for everyone that purchased in on the ticket.

https://www.amazon.com/Polycarbonate-Plastic-Robotics-Industrial-Shatterproof/dp/B016PE9W1W/ref=sr_1_4?

cut it with your cnc machine so it is a grid

lay it on the pcb only the dirt chips  are exposed

sand with this

https://www.mcmaster.com/sanding-discs
https://www.mcmaster.com/4521a331

18579  Economy / Gambling / USA has world largest lottery prize. on: October 20, 2018, 02:04:35 PM
I wonder if  any people overseas   would want to go in on a pool of tickets.

I would buy 50 tickets  for 100 usd and sell  49 shares . Keep 1 share for me.

If we won  it would be a glorious tax mess and make newspapers tv and internet all over the world.

Just a thought.

Not sure if a ticket is 2 usd, but I think it is.
