1862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 30, 2014, 07:08:34 AM
I have an honest question.

To an investor in wall street how can i explain in a single powerpoint slide why Blackcoin has bigger Market Cap than Mintcoin, they have same features. Mint was released 10 days before and is hybrid POW/POS, to an outsider they are practicaly the same

Im conducting investing rounds, i now FAST/POS is the future and i need your side of the story, for an possible investment.

Thanks.

Hi Gonzoucab, Seems the thread got some new trolls 8(
Let me throw a few things out there...
Investing in a coin is more like investing in the community. Little or no community support = dead coin. A quick check would be forums/date thread
started to how many pages posted like here (feb 16 to today = 42days - 565 pages = 13.4 pages a day = quit busy), a random stop to see how many & how active irc is.

Next would be liquidity, you can have a bajillion coins but if its thinly traded or theres already a long line to get out the door it aint gonna work. Again if a bajillion are minted = less rare = harder to make the price rise = less profits.

IMO Blackcoin comes up Aces in all these areas.

Mintcoin has massively high inflation like doge. much higher supply.

Blackcoin has 1% inflation and is currently the lowest coin in the world...

there are many more positives that favor blackcoin but this is really the bottom line for me.

Blackcoin is the gold of the cryptoworld. good for storing wealth for long periods of time, or at least once it is more established.

I see this coint at 5 dollars within 6 months, it is a coin people will notice. It is currently holding a 10 times increase from 2 weeks ago on very good volume. Get in or miss the next leg up...

You are right! blackcoin would make an excellent store of wealth (deflationary, like real world stores of value such as gold/silver/precious metals in general), mintcoin would be an excellent currency for everyday trading and adoption (inflationary, like every "real world" currency). this is why i have invested in both (omg how could i?). +5000 MINT for you!!! shit, wait, you don't have a mintcoin address.. Sorry wrong forum, I saw the word mintcoin and thought I was on that forum again. Do you guys ever stop talking about mintcoin or can we start focusing on blackcoin, please?
1863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *23 Exchanges *36 Merchants on: March 30, 2014, 07:04:56 AM
note that there are people looking into on how to attack pos coins.

reason for this is that proof of stake ( pure ) hasnt been fully checked as a standalone technology.

however, it is written/invented by sunny king who is a very smart dude.

yes, i have seen articles as well on how to damage a pos coin, without cost. most of it is bla or see below.

however, it requires you to have 51% stake atm, but there might be other ways which have not surfaced yet.

"The trouble with Proof-of-stake is that there is nothing at stake."

whales can easily get 51% of the coins. especially at this pricelevel. there is nothing at stake.

so if a whale has bad intentions ( hope wolong is on your side )... yes, then very much damage can be done.

same as with pow coins, you can build a new longest chain that will be seen as valid in the network,
allowing double spend and cancelling transactions/making sure that transactions are not confirmed.

so pray that a whale, with bad intentions, does not get 51%

You are right, but luckily Mintcoin is not pure PoS. It is a PoS/PoW hybrid. Perhaps you should warn pure PoS coins instead of PoS/PoW hybrids...

Thanks for starting this thread, Crindon! I wish I could speak Mandarin, it is no doubt one of the most useful languages in existence now and will be even more useful in the future. I will be taking classes in it starting next year. I fully support Mintcoin and I think it has one of the brightest futures out of all the alternative currencies popping up these days.

anyone here wil 10 million MINT or more?

who has the most here?

Well the dev premined 3% of MINT so I would imagine he most of it.

But wasn't there talk of him dumping it all on the market? That would explain why he wasn't able to tell us what he spent any of it on?

This just proves to everyone that reads your post that you know NOTHING about Mintcoin. It is CLEARLY posted at the beginning of this thread that there was only a 1% premine.

When people like you come here and post such rubbish trying to cause FUD, all it does is show that there are people like you that are AFRAID of what a TRUE crypto currency is going to accomplish. Maybe go back under that bridge you crawled out from under and troll someplace other than here, your infantile attemps are useless here.

Yup this is the same guy who was trying to say Mintcoin is pure PoS and therefore shares the same possible vulnerabilities of BC  Roll Eyes

-possible as in no known vulnerabilities at this time, but since pure PoS is so new its security is not as tried and tested

The dev premined more than 1% because the PoW ended early due to PoS blocks being calculated along with the PoW blocks, taking their slots.

The total amount of coins is not changed, he still mined 1% of total coin supply although it is more of the current supply due to what you just said.

Edit: doesn't really matter to me either way. What matters is how the premine is used and so far I can't complain about what the dev has gotten accomplished in the short amount of time this coin has been around.

Im not trying to argue with u mr_random, or anybody on this thread, I'm just sick and tired of people here relentlessly bashing mintcoin and then whining when somebody tries to correct them when they say something untrue or misleading about it. Learn to promote your coin without bashing another.

these are some of the lies you said:
Mint is being supported by only "sockpuppets"
Mint is a pure PoS
Mint premine is not being used for anything
Mint volume is tiny

here are why they are lies:
1. Mint has a larger community than BC, if you look at the market history you will see less signs of manipulation than that of BC
2. This one is beyond obvious.. just look at the block explorer..
3. This one is obvious too, just look at the number of exchanges and merchants and the upcoming projects..
4. This one is also obvious, 20 BTC volume on Mintpal is only small in comparison to BC- in comparison to many other coins it is large. This also does not consider the 22 other exchanges that Mint is on.

Stop spreading lies and using lies to promote your coin and I will stop coming onto this thread to inform people of the truth.

Peace.
1877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 29, 2014, 10:34:08 PM
mgburks77 - CryptoRush had a stupid implementation of the accounting system which is a feature in every wallet client. Basically their accounts were able to withdraw more than their balance was. That's how coins got "stolen" from CR. Nothing to do with BC itself.

stormia - BC makes no claims whatsoever. It's a coin without promises.

mr_random - Let's not hijack any threads hehe =P

I never said that, you should not falsely quote people. I am a freaking supporter of blackcoin what is wrong with people on this thread?

Please provide the link to me saying that.

Here is a link to mr_random hijacking the mint thread today:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=450381.new#new

I can dig up him hijacking the thread many, many times in the past if you would like me to.

That's in response to mgburk posting like 20 times FUD in this thread in the last hour. I posted that after mgburks childish behaviour here.

That's my first post in the Mintcoin topic in 6 days.

Yet again more misinformation  Roll Eyes

How is that misinformation? Did you not post that on the Mint thread today? Was it not pure fud? Could I not dig up many, many similar postings of yours from the past, most if not all of which were not incited by somebody posting something on this thread?

Meh. Not trying to pick a fight, basically I reacted to "Also, BC destroyed any claim to "energy efficiency" that it or any PoS coin can make since the advent of the multipool.", which I think you are correct about Smiley

This thread is so explosive right now lol.

Sorry I thought u were quoting me not responding to me, my mistake. I think BC is very promising, and yeah it never made any claims of environmentally friendlyness. mr_random did though and that was what I was responding to.

all I know is I am hearing two different things on this thread.

1. there is no blackcoin security flaw

2. that blackcoins were stolen

Blackcoins stolen from an exchange doesn't mean there is a flaw in the protocol. It's the exchange being poorly coded.

Or do you think Bitcoins being stolen from mtgox means Bitcoin has a security flaw? You do seem to have trouble understanding simple concepts.  Wink

I'm just asking dude, calm down. You guys are confusing the issue because you are so defensive.

No one is being defensive.

You're confusing the issue, because you are too stupid to read the answers that have been clearly given to you, repeatedly.  Go troll somewhere else.

No, the answers given by different people contradict each other. Like trying to hide something.

Just leave it be, if there is a security flaw it will present itself in due time.
