Currently, the Block History on the Statistics page only displays the last 30 blocks solved by the pool. This can be a problem (and is right now) if the pool has solved more than 30 blocks within a time period that the entire network hasn't yet solved 120 blocks. In this case, you can't monitor whether the solved blocks are being successfully confirmed nor how far away they are from being confirmed.

Hello, CPU miners.

New version of jgarzik's CPU mining software supports long polling now, so you can improve your efficiency by installing it.
Please upgrade.

Since 2 days my balance is not transfered to the wallet. No contact information at deepbit.net site... ::)
What is your login ? White it here or PM me.
Your balance should be transferred each day if it's over your threshold and you have your address configured.

I found a couple of users with word "sniper" in login. If the one with ~6.95 balance is you, then you just get 0.01 over your threshold today.
Payment is sent.

Currently i'm modifying payment system. Tomorrow there should appear "Pay now" button for that :)

2) And you miss one big problem - pps payout model impossible protect from smart cheaters.
Actually there is NO risk of cheating if you are doing PPS-only or you have PPS and sharing pools separated.
Only without instant payout. And only for pool operator,  not for miners.
How, exactly ?

1871  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: If you're pulling 170+ Mhash/s on: March 21, 2011, 10:27:38 AM
which is much longer that average difficulty adjustment interval, so you probably won't find a block until next step.
That's fairly irrelevant. Your expected payout from going solo is always higher. If you start mining solo with a CPU doing 1MH/s you will probably never find a block, but that is balanced by the fact that if you do, you'll receive a reward many times what you would have gotten in a pool.
Only for that day. On average it would be exactly the same, but with each difficulty step your chance will get lower.
Yes. And your payout from the pool will also get lower.
You still get the part that was for days with lower difficulty.
Of course it's not a strong boundary, but i think that mining with ETA longer that difficulty steps is not funny enough - waiting for days and weeks without any result.

I agree with nster about the 0.5~1 GH/s suggestion, though you need to make sure you know exactly what you're getting in to.
Even with 2 GH/s there is a chance to get stuck with "unlucky" block for a month or two...
Sure. A chance of 0.000011%.
Not quite. Yesterday there was a 524205-shares block in slush's pool and 489991-shares block in my pool two days ago, so it's really NOT that impropable. ~200-300k blocks happen even more often.
It really is that improbable, because I've made a *gasp* calculation ( exp(-720/45) ). Meanwhile, the probability that a block is 520000 shares is 0.1%, so I'm not that surprised there was one in a pool that generates dozens a day.
Oh, my mistake, was still thinking about 170 Mh/s.
When i started mining at ~22k difficulty with 900 MH/s, i didn't get a block for more than two weeks. Luckily i was mining in a pool :)

I would put more like 0.5~1 GH to mine solo... ie: minimum a 5970
Even with 2 GH/s there is a chance to get stuck with "unlucky" block for a month or two...
1874  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: If you're pulling 170+ Mhash/s on: March 21, 2011, 09:23:08 AM
The expected generation output, at 170000 Khps, given current difficulty of 76193.9710474 , is 2.24415163496 BTC per day and 0.0935063181234 BTC per hour.

You need at least 2 GH/s to mine solo. Many people will not agree about this, but that's my opinion.

The average time to generate a block at 170000 Khps, given current difficulty of 76193.9710474 , is 3 weeks, 1 day, 6 hours, 43 minutes, and 23 seconds, which is much longer that average difficulty adjustment interval, so you probably won't find a block until next step. Well, next step will be lower than current, but this is not the usual behavior.

Welcome to my pool at deepbit.net :)
1875  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTCMine - shared mining pool, open registration on: March 21, 2011, 09:18:01 AM
I think that if someone starts providing pps and long polling for a more fair price than 10% they would quickly become the largest pool.
Any price is fair if both sides agree on it and pool owner don't lies about it.
1876  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (130Ghash/s) on: March 21, 2011, 04:48:17 AM
This is a bit risky, so I'm using your pool to keep my variance down. Getting a bitcoin or two every day has really aided my peace of mind (and my relationship with my wife, who was a bit skeptical about the whole affair). It's well worth the expected "cost" of a few bitcoins a month. I'm still running an unpooled miner as well, since the lure of the big hit is ever present, but in the meantime I know I'll mine enough to pay my electric bill and have a bit left over.
You should get more than 1-2 BTC per day with 5970. Even a half of 5970 (~290 MH/s) should mine ~3.5+ BTC daily.
1877  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (130Ghash/s) on: March 21, 2011, 04:45:07 AM
Pretty sure it is open to new users as I just signed up about an hour or so ago.

However, now I'm getting even more and more annoyed at my incompetence with it. Tried each of the different miners it suggests, but couldn't even get any of them to begin to work, and the Help info given for each of them proved rather unhelpful or nearly impossible to find.

I think I figured out the correct info to put in bitcoin.conf though, and the correct thing to run for puddinpop's to get it to work...
You are doing it wrong. (at least regarding bitcoin.conf)
Local bitcoin client is not needed for pooled mining, you don't need to configure it.
The only thing you need to configure is the miner application. If you are using CPU for mining then jgarzik's or ufasoft's miners are suitable.
1878  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~50 Gh/s Mining Pool] Get 1-2% more with long polling ! No failed blocks. on: March 20, 2011, 11:37:17 PM
Nearing 12 hours without a block?!?
No need to worry, it's already averaged out by a run of easy blocks :)
1879  Local / Майнеры / Re: BTCMine - добро пожаловать в новый Mining Pool on: March 20, 2011, 08:14:16 PM
1880  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [NEW POOL & NEW MINER] - BitcoinPool.com - Jump In! on: March 20, 2011, 02:17:34 PM
Now you can really increase effeciency to the level of other pools.
ROFL.  You're funny.
Please prove that statement and post the # of getwork request and # of submitted shares (which you already do) for each round on your site, and that will show the efficiency of your pool.
I'll show you mine if you show me yours....oh wait....we already do show that. :)
It's ok, i don't mind if truth is funny for you :)
I was talking about mining efficiency, not the getworks/shares proportion (which is not important for miners).
Who would care how many times miner requested getwork per one submitted share ? It would make sense only if pool is overloaded by requests.

Sorry if you were offended by my statement.
