1881  Other / Off-topic / Re: Blockchain securing Nuclear Power Plants! on: January 07, 2016, 05:06:52 AM
I guess this is a good thing if is protected by the bitcoin blockchain but it can be a bad thing if it is to be protected by a private blockchain.

All blockchains are private. And since this would be sensitive information, you would not want the data to be available to anyone. Besides, people should not use BTC's blockchain for things it wasn't designed for. There's been one guy who registered the birth of his kid on the blockchain, another one who used it for his marriage... Hey come on, this has to stop! If everyone starts using the blockchain to store his personal info, BTC is doomed.

Not all Blockchains are private! The Bitcoin blockchain isn't (at least for now). Now, what the article mentions is a company that is working on distributed networks and developing their own blockchain to be used for security, data integrity and management. even though it is a distributed application similar in principle to the blockchain, This is a private blockchain we are talking about. Besides there's a clear distinction between guardtime proposed blockchain and the regular blockchain!

1886  Economy / Gambling / A look at the various Deposit and Withdrawal options at Casinos on: January 06, 2016, 07:48:10 PM
Casino games are not just for mere fun and entertainment. Though a lot of people play for that; however, the whole truth is that there is a big amount of money involved in terms of deposits and withdrawals. When attempting to play casino games online, especially card games, first, you need to deposit some cash to be able to play, unless you are availing free bonus or joining bonus option. Then, you need to withdraw the money you win. Therefore, you can imagine the volume of daily transaction being made on a daily basis. In this post, you will get an overview of the various currency deposits and withdraw options in the world of card games.

Money deposit in online casinos is just a matter of few clicks. You need to first login to the bookmarker’s website through your login credentials; choose the cashier; deposit money; then start playing. It is that simple. Here are the various popular payment methods for online casinos.

1887  Economy / Speculation / Re: Everyone is hyping about bitcoin price in 2016 on: January 06, 2016, 06:54:49 PM
Yeah, everyone is expecting to see the price go to new levels.

According to what's going on lately, a price rise is a probable outcome. There are many probable causes for this price surge, but mainly many community members point to the halving as the main factor that will trigger a new price rise.
I for myself, see the adoption rate rising at a fast pace; new startups getting a lot of funding to invest in the industry and a lot of steam in the whole ecosystem all make some good signs that Bitcoin might get to new highs.

As for it to be able to maintain higher grounds I'm not so sure about that, since many experts are already saying that the halving is already accounted for!
1888  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Google supercomputer a threat? on: January 06, 2016, 06:09:15 PM
I really don't see why it would be a threat if Google decides to use it for mining bitcoins. If it could mine bitcoin at higher hashing power than is already out there then so be it, No harm on that on this case unless I'm missing something so I think you should STOP worrying about this so called Quantum Computer.

Well, theoretically if this were to happen you have a couple things that would happen:

Bitcoin will most certainly become way more secure if they put all their power toward hashing bitcoins. But then, Bitcoin mining would be so centralized, that it's pretty much pointless for other miners to remain in/or start trying to mine with so much of bitcoins hash rate is done by Google alone. I don't know much about QC's, but it's a scary/exciting thing to think about.

In fact, the centralization you are mentioning about is already happening! Mining is already controlled by large groups of miners and it is virtually impossible to get in mining at this point if it isn't with a significant ammount of investment, meaning taking a lot of risk.
And so, less miners are going to keep entering the mining industry, making it dependant of a small group of powerfull miners.

1890  Other / Off-topic / Blockchain securing Nuclear Power Plants! on: January 06, 2016, 04:03:32 PM
I recently found an article on Coinfox saying that there is a company that is commited to introduce the blockchain technology as a new way of securing Nuclear Power Plants.

http://www.coinfox.info/news/4316-guardtime-using-blockchain-to-guard-industries
https://guardtime.com/blog/guardtime-and-future-cities-catapult-partner-to-develop-blockchain-based-cybersecurity-for-uk-critical-infrastructure

I guess this is a good thing if is protected by the bitcoin blockchain but it can be a bad thing if it is to be protected by a private blockchain.

Comments?

Bitcoin Price: Classical Pattern Targets Big Upside

o in yesterday’s bitcoin price watch piece, we noted that action over the last week or so has been subdued in the majority of the financial asset markets as a result of the holiday season, and that the low volume we have seen in the bitcoin space suggests a mirroring of this trend. We also noted, however, that things seem to be getting back...

1893  Other / Meta / Re: [Help] Change Email / Password on: January 06, 2016, 02:03:18 PM
I currently have access to my account (this one) on my phone, however when I set it up last year I used a fake email address.

I have since forgotten my login password and obviously cannot make any profile changes as a result.

If I logout from this phone, I will forever lose access to my account.

Can anyone/mods help?

I am willing to prove I'm the original owner if necessary.

I guess you are done for. Even if you request Theymos to get your account back by reseting the password you will always need to have access to the email. Hope you learn something from this!

Always Remember, as long as you have 2FA enabled there will be few little chances of your account being hacked.

I know perfectly how do you feel. I'm not as an early adopter as you but a similar situation happened to me. Nevertheless, I'm here to fight to stay on top and continue to support bitcoin and digital currencies in general!
1896  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I know what info to trust? on: January 06, 2016, 01:07:37 AM
The trick is to talk with a lot of people, visit several forums and learn from multiple sources. After a while using this method you'll know what's important and what's not.
