1881  Economy / Economics / Re: Is academic pursues enough to get incomes? on: November 03, 2023, 11:12:43 AM
I think that the main focus of getting degrees should be to acquire more knowledge to make quality impact and contributions that will be beneficial to the society. Although having in mind to earn more income from the degrees that will guarantee the holder a better financial future is good, but it should not be the primary reason for acquiring the degrees. I say this because to really make money someone needs to think like a business person, because an illiterate with a natural zeal and wisdom to make money, can make it and employ graduates with all the degrees to work for them. There is a tribe in my country, that is known to have very successful people in business, but most of these people are not educated, but they are very wise when it comes to making money.

The rate at which people are acquiring more degrees are not the way they're getting job offers, because it seems that demand for jobs now is greater than the supply of the jobs. Every year millions of fresh graduates are entering the labour market to join others that have graduated before them to compete for jobs that are scarce. The more you're getting more degrees, others are getting higher degrees to compete for available job offers, especially in developing countries.

1882  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you gamble till old age or not on: November 03, 2023, 09:05:54 AM
The answer to whether I can gamble till old age depends on the reason why I'll have to gamble till my old age, I believe that at old age people must have good reasons to engage in any activities, because their bodies must be tiring. If gambling gives me fulfilment and i have enough savings to gamble, so even if i lose it won't affect me emotionally, then I'm good for it. At old age it should be about what really makes you happy because at that age death can occur at anytime. Although personally I'm not into gambling, so i don't see myself gambling in old age, but who knows i can become very rich and decide to gamble responsibly in my old age, just for adventure and the fun of it. No matter my financial situation in my old age, whether rich or poor, I'll never engage in gambling for the purpose of making money, that'll be desperation and not good for the mental health at that age.

This is why it is good to do all our hustling when we are young, so in our old age, we'll focus on relaxation and engaging only in things that makes us happy.
1883  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: What to do with 1 BTC as a Nigerian on: November 03, 2023, 07:04:21 AM
If I get 1btc wetin I go take am do na to hodl am for my wallet first so that it will appreciate for this bull wey dey come then if I hodl am to double it, I go back out and convert am. Then immediately if I get land I go begin build on it at least a storey building or two. Then if I no get land, I go buy and begin build something on it. But if na to use the money go dey do business for this kind economy, that one no be better decision. Na to build and put for rent be the best now.

I reason your talk well, landed property na im be one of di surest investment wey person fit get. Because hardly make you hear say land or building depreciate, e go just de depreciate de go. Even as di economy be now, landlords dem just de cash in by increasing rent because of di high cost of living inside di country. I like di investment because you no need to de educated or to stress yourself for inside.

I always believe in diversification for business because i reason say e no good to put all your eggs in one basket, so if i get 1 btc, i go decide di percentage wey i go leave inside di investment, den i go take di rest invest for real estate. Di good thing be say i still fit to reinvest part of di profit from real estate, enter bitcoin again, begin de grow am back. As e be now na di two investments na im de sure pass for my side, no stress, just de monitor bitcoin wey you hold for your wallet, if e appreciate reach where you wan sell, you sell. Same thing if your land appreciate reach where you wan sell, you sell.
1884  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin is magic internet money on: November 02, 2023, 11:23:02 PM
Force of gravity is very real on earth and bitcoin is not more magical than seeing a plane flying on the sky with all it's weight and the weights of it's passengers, it's not more magical than using a phone to do video call with someone in a far continent, not more magical than the internet that enables it's usage. In fact when i learned about bitcoin, i wasn't too surprised at the technology, because technological innovations has become a normal thing to me, I've gone beyond wondering how this things comes to manifestations. So if bitcoin is magical, then they're all magical, because they're all like fantacies that comes alive to me. Unless i see a technology that can raise a dead person back to life, then I'll be wowed forever, that technological advancements  or magic has gone beyond human comprehension.

I can say bitcoin is mysterious in a way because of it's anonymous nature, the way it can conceal the identity of the holder, we don't even know the identity of its creator. All the same it's a valuable decentralized asset, whether magical or not.
1885  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Educating Nigerians about Bitcoin on: November 02, 2023, 10:23:10 PM
I understand di passion wey you get about bitcoin and di need to de promote di adoption for inside our country, so everybody go sabi di benefits of di coin. Me sef wen i first enter dis forum as anewbie, and come gain small knowledge about bitcoin matter, I also start similar topic like you, i even go further to say we need to get bitcoin association for Nigeria, to help create awareness about am. As a matter of fact i begin to de preach about di benefits of bitcoin, how di currency take bi digital and de decentralized wey no get boundaries like fiat, say you fit trade and invest am and make plenty profits. But in di end over ninety percent of di people wey i passionately tell about bitcoin and cryptocurrency fall my hand, some liken am to ponzi schemes like MMM, new method of online scam, wetin government don ban, some just no send di talk, and others think say I don join yahoo. So after all dis experiences, i just relax, now if I see person wey i reason say im get genuine interest to learn about bitcoin, i go impact di small knowledge wey i don gather so far give am.

Aldo i de sometimes see adverts wey de talk about blockchain, cryptocurrency seminars, i believe say na anoda way to take spread di  adoption of bitcoin.  Anoda wey na for our government to encourage di usage by endorsing and accepting bitcoin, dis one no go need to de tell person, everybody go just key in  for di adoption.
1886  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Nigerians spend $975m daily on online betting on: November 02, 2023, 09:05:38 PM
From the way that I see it, two factors are responsible for this trend of increased interest in gambling in Nigeria, one is the economic hardship that is biting hard in the country, the other is the increased adverts of bet companies in the country. Because of the rate of unemployment, increased high cost of living, the naira devaluation, these reasons and more are driving the citizens to look for any alternatives to escape poverty, so people have embraced gambling as a quick and genuine way to get rich quick. From my observation as a Nigerian, most gamblers don't engage in it just for fun, majority of them gamble as a means of survival. When you hear that Mr. A who is known to be poor just suddenly hit the jackpot and becomes a millionaire overnight through gambling, this is the motivation for the increased interest in gambling in the country.

Again the way sports bet and lotto shops are springing up in most corners of the country is very alarming, also the way the bet and lotto companies are advertising gambling is very enticing, as if when you place bets that it's certain that you'll win. Nigerians love football, so anytime that there's a match, you'll see sports bets advertising the match on news sites and will ask you to make bet on who will win.
1887  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Giveaway Scam On the Rise on: November 01, 2023, 08:35:46 PM
Scam is really on the increase in this computerized age, scammers are taking advantage of modern technological advancements like A1 technology to defraud unsuspecting individuals of their hard earned money. I'm always very careful and vigilant anytime i see any too good to be true offers on the internet, because most of them are scams. It goes beyond greed to be scammed this days, because some offers can come in innocent forms, like links telling you to apply for America visa or to work in Canada, people from other continents that are looking to migrate to these countries for greener pastures are easily enticed to open the link, only for them to be directed to a phishing site in the link.
Some will ask you for processing fees immediately to facilitate the journey. Most times this links are forwarded to you by trusted individuals who ignorantly resend it to their loved ones.

I've stated my opinion on issues like this in a similar thread where I said that it's best to treat every unknown persons or sites as potential scams, this will help you not to easily relax your guard to trust them.
1888  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: High expectations as we de wait for di coming ATH on: November 01, 2023, 05:39:28 PM
~.
I been dey this your region but from wetin I dey see, e be like we fit reach $250k.
My broda, I just sey make I dey modest with that speculation, make e nor be sey I too overhype Bitcoin. From wetin me dey see too d spike go dey very crazy in 2025. The pointers are there. If you dry dis forum and you dey campaign, abeg try dey put something aside every week.

Di energy of una hype and assurance about di coming ATH say e go de  massive reach make person go sell other assets dem wen im get and use all di money buy bitcoin and hold am, come de wait for di massive bull run to cash in big time. I just purposely start dis thread and state di small disadvantages wey I fit to think of, make I for take see di reactions about how our members for dis forum go take react, so i reason say if di reactions de positive e go join boost my morale to invest di small money wey i don put aside. Reason be say me I de relatively new for bitcoin matter, so i wan to an extent make i rely on di opinions of more experienced members, because money matter no be Small thing, so person suppose shine im eyes before im go put plenty money for inside any investments.

I hope say as we don predict am na so e go be, so after halving na massive ATH with bull run way go raise di dust of plenty profits for investors to cash in.
1889  Economy / Economics / Re: Marketing Strategies in the Digital Age on: November 01, 2023, 04:42:24 PM
The internet has made the world to become a global village where you can sit in the comfort of your home and place order for goods and services and you'll receive delivery in your home without much physical stress. With your smart phone or computer, you can use the social media to advertise goods and services and millions of people can access your products conveniently with their own gadgets. We're now living in an era where with just a click on your phone, you can see varieties of what you want to buy, and making payments don't necessarily need you to have physical cash, you can easily make transactions transfer from your fiat bank account or from your crypto wallet.

Many years back if you want to buy a used car you'd have to inform family and friends to be on the lookout for where any car is parked for sale. Sometimes you'll have to travel to another state just to see the car, in the end it might not be your preferred brand or model, and journey will be wasted. Today you only need a search engine on the internet to see varieties of the type of car that you need, and be able to speak with the seller before embarking on the journey for physical examining.

Marketing strategies in the digital age has reduced the services of musclemen in businesses, because people now advertise their commodities directly on social media and customers also buys directly from them.
1890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in the last 5 years compare to now on: November 01, 2023, 02:58:59 PM
The adopting of bitcoin has increased tremendously in the last five years to now, and it's still increasing. It's awareness as an alternative means of payment and currency for trading and investment, plus being a digital decentralized currency that has no boundaries, makes it's adoption to have even more advantage to the holders. The facts that established firms like Tesla and countries like El Salvador, have seen the advantages of bitcoin, shows that in the nearest future more companies and countries will embrace the adoption. I'm also impressed that some small businesses are now accepting bitcoin payments, this will be the best driver of the adoption in a few years to come.

Despite the fact that the central bank in my country has placed a ban on banks to facilitate crytocurrency transactions, still the adoption and transactions have continued to increase over the years.

I have the believe that the volatile nature of bitcoin that makes it's price to fluctuate, will be a favorable asset in the hands of investors, because it'll give them the choice to know when to sell or buy bitcoin. Also the price fluctuations necessitates bitcoin trading.
1891  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Health Benefits of Gambling on: November 01, 2023, 12:26:13 PM
The theories that OP shared focuses only on the feel good side of gambling, where it can help you to relax, relieve stress and help you get used to taking risks. I totally agree with the concepts mentioned, provided the gambler is gambling mainly for the sake of fun and to distract him or her self from worries. I believe also that this category of gamblers should have discipline to know when to quit for the day's gambling, meaning that they're in charge of their emotions, and will not exceed their  the amount set out for gambling. Lastly i think that these category of gamblers should be financially stable where loses can not really affect them negatively.

However, these information about the health benefits of gambling does not cover every areas of it. We have people who gamble for survival, not for the fun of it or to relieve stress. They see gambling as a way to escape poverty and a short cut to riches.

Lastly there are degenerate gamblers, these are gambling addicts, who don't have control over their gambling habits, in fact, gambling does more harm to their health than it benefits them. This is because they don't know when to stop, they can lose all their money in bets and casinos, and still go ahead to borrow to gamble.
1892  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / High expectations as we de wait for di coming ATH on: November 01, 2023, 10:13:01 AM
The energy de very high for people wey de run bitcoin matter, sake of say next year wey be 2024 na im di next halving go happen. So di advice for everywhere inside bitcoin space now na make everybody de find money buy plenty bitcoin de hold in expectation of the coming ATH (all time high) wey we de expect to happen after the halving next year. So dis one na sure banker say bull run go de certain to happen and investors go cash in well well on dem bitcoin investments. Me sef i no wan carry last for the need to de accumulate plenty bitcoin as my power reach, so i go follow enjoy di benefits of the coming ATH. But e get some questions wey i de ask my sef about di high expectations of di ATH

1. What if di ATH no  come happen after halving next year? Or e happen but di result na far bellow our expectations?
2. The reason wey i de ask be say bitcoin price no too de predictable like dat, and what if di factors wey de trigger di last three halvings before di ATH no come happen as we expect? Like many buyers de pursue to buy fewer bitcoin for market?
3. I know say during halving wey new bitcoin de cut in half wey go affect miners reward, bitcoin go de scarce, and price suppose go high. What if buyers no de willing to buy at dat high price, how sellers go take sell dem bitcoin and accumulate di plenty profits?
4. As we know say from di creation of bitcoin, di price de appreciate de go high, so we no go fit to totally rule out di possibility of dat kind scenario, wey price fit to high reach certain extent after halving, wey go fit discourage buyers from  buying plenty bitcoin

I de very optimistic about di expected ATH after halving, but i no fit help but wonder about di possibilities wey i mentioned above. So wetin in una think?

1896  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler avoiding friends after a big win. on: October 30, 2023, 02:24:33 PM
The saying "Money reveal people" is quite common. I usually don't believe this phrase, and I used to imagine that friends would always have nice intentions towards one another, but I later realised that this is not true because life is full of diverse individuals, each with their own personalities and viewpoints.

It's best to never expect anything from anyone because everyone is out for themselves. This kind of behaviour is nothing new to me anymore, and whenever there are three friends, I usually anticipate one of them to have such an attitude. Why should you be surprised if it occurs amongst friends when it has even happened between blood brothers? When you put expectations on people all you will get from them disappointments so i have learned to live on my own and not expect much from people.

True to what you have said, money reveals the true character of people, give someone money or position, then you'll truly see their inner character. The friend that got the big win and abandoned his friends probably felt rich and decided that the other two were not in his category anymore, maybe he's naturally greedy and the win manifested his true character, that he didn't want to celebrate or give some share of the win to his friends. It's best not to put all our hopes on others, whether family or friends, no matter how close the relationship is, because anybody can disappoint you at anything, for whatever reasons, whether it makes sense or not.

On the other hand OP didn't get to hear the side of the story of the friend that won big and abandoned his friends, we would have known the real intentions for his behavior. The gamble winner understands his friends better than us, maybe he abandoned them for his own safety, maybe he doesn't trust them to be genuinely happy for him. I've had of friends that connives with criminals to rob their friend, others can even kill, set their friends up for blackmail or kidnap. Money is the root of all evil, so when you have plenty of it, almost everybody will became suspects to you.
1897  Economy / Economics / Re: Isreal and Palestine war and losing your wallet phrase and password on: October 30, 2023, 10:25:33 AM
You can use software that allows you to create a wallet with a seed phrase of 12 words.
It's not impossible to remember 12 words if they are very important. This way you can keep the wallet in your brain. Also known as a bitcoin brainwallet. No one can steal your thoughts.
In cryptography we trust (& verify).

I align with your thoughts, i think that the best place to store such important information like your seed phrase is in your brain. No matter where you are or where you go in the world the phrases will not depart from you. So in this regard if a person decides to memorize their seed phrase, i think that it is better to get a wallet with twelve phrases instead of twenty four, so it'll be easier to memorize. All the person needs to do is to look up on the seed phrase, once in a while, in order not to forget. This method does not in any way undermine the importance of storing the phrase information in other secured locations, but just to be on the safest side, after hiding the seed phrase it's better to memorize them in the brain. As a matter of fact I'll start to memorize my seed phrase from today.

In the event of war, fire disaster, natural disaster, theft, or misplacement of where we stored our seed phrase, it can damage or be stolen, but the ones that are stored in our minds can not be stolen or damaged. So in case where any of the things mentioned where to occur and the phrases are lost all we need do is remember them from our memory, them rewrite, hide and start to memorize them again once in a while.

1899  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: As a crypto user isn't it sumtin to give a thought about? on: October 29, 2023, 02:14:53 PM
The fact is this is not a big issue, the government will not entirely banned cryptocurrency because they know what they can earn from regulating it (maybe adding tax to exchanges) and NITDA Offered scholarship on Blockchain last year November, though they can be Blockchain that doesn't have a coin but its shows they acknowledged the technology which cryptocurrency are built on.

Even if they later decided to banned cryptocurrency in Nigeria entirely, Nigeria bitcoin and crypto adoption will continue to surge and this may make us all adopt the use of DEX and non-custodian wallet.

Even if government decide to ban cryptocurrency for di country, e no go too disturb di adoption, because cryptocurrency like bitcoin, de originally designed to de decentralized. Di move go compel most of use to de use DEX instead of CEX, we go just de run p2p transactions through our non custodial wallets. Di curiosity of total ban sef go make many people especially di youths to wan know wetin de for crypto decentralization, and di adoption go increase.

I agree with Cryptopreneurbrainboss, say e go de better say make our government find way to make dis big exchanges like binance and remitano, to get physical office for Nigeria, dis exchanges de make plenty money for di country, na dem di government suppose put focus on. Because personally i no mind if our government de tax di exchanges because na lucrative business dem de do for di country. Dat one alone suppose make our government to de respect crypto users, na dem go be a source of  income generation.

1900  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will it affect your life if bitcoin price comes to $1 million per bitcoin? on: October 27, 2023, 11:15:58 AM
It is just a thought for now but we live in a world of endless possibilities where anything is possible. So if bitcoin price were to reach one million dollars per bitcoin, in my lifetime, I'll definitely plan for my early retirement from active work. I'll reinvest some of my profits in other investments like real estate, that always increase in value, and leave off the profits for the rest of my life, traveling and enjoying. Having multiple sources of income has always been my dream, so if my bitcoin investment can actualize it by it's price to be multiplying geometrically to reach that mark, then I'm good to actualizing my dreams of multi investments and early retirement to enjoy vacations all over the world with my family.
